Dulce Donovan is, in her own words, a 21 year old “stay at home poet”. But if you were to ask her Aunt Ruby, she’d say Dulce is a waste of potential, and lazy. Finally having enough of Dulce’s lack of motivation, Aunt Ruby sends her to live with her youngest daughter, Manikah. Dulce is fascinated by the L.A lifestyle- and quickly catches the attention of 2’Live creator and record producer, Jovanny Evans. However, matters between them are complicated when Dulce falls for someone else and she will soon realize that things aren’t always what they seem, people aren't who they claim to be, and just because her name is Dulce, doesn’t mean everything is sweet.
This was a good read but it left me with a headache after thinking Dulcet would get her happily ever after. Corey was some kind of crazy and tripped in a matter of seconds. I couldn't believe he had the issues that he did. Jovanny seemed like a good dude but there were some questionable times that had me wondering if he truly cared as he claimed. Manikah was my favorite! She had no filter and was down for whatever. Benet just worked my nerves and once everything was revealed I couldn't believe that heifer had that much animosity towards Dulcet. Dulcet's stubbornness worked my nerves at times but I was glad once she started getting herself together. I wish I could've choked Nina because she didn't make certain situations any better. Overall I enjoyed the read but wish it had ended differently.
My feelings are so hurt right now.. I didn't expect that ending at all.. I enjoyed Dulce's story.. There's always consequences for the stupid things we do & choices make.. I was so rooting for Dulce and Jovanny.. I knew Corey was also 2 good to be true.. Awesome job Myah..
Awesome Read! I definitely wasn't expecting that ending! Myah knows she's sick with the pen!! I absolutely loved the message the book gave!! Mental illness is real!
My emotions are all over the place after reading this story.... This is a must read!!!! Corey really hide his signs of his mental illness... I really didn't like how his mother handle the situation... Jovanny and Dulce was getting on the right track... They both finally found happiness
The story was a bit hazy ... I was so confusing at times, to much was going on and sentences didn't flow. The message about depression was powerful but I didn't catch on.
This book was so good and had a powerful meaning. Dulcet went through a lot. Corey had a serious problem and I hate his mom. Wish it was a part 2. Great standalone
