A Howl in the Night #2
The Full Moon Rises
Life as a shape shifter is not as easy as it would seem, especially not for Abigail Staton. Being a teenager and a shape shifter is even harder, not to mention being one of the last remaining females in the two competing wolf clans and the only girl in her new schools. Striving to find where she belongs, gets sidelined when an old threat to the wolves resurfaces. The clans are forced to come together in a semi-truce, and the already dominant males become even more controlling in trying to protect their own as well as their secret. Abby finds herself in the middle yet again, but this time, she will need both clans in order to survive.

One of the best testaments to a good book for me, as a slow reader, is if I read the whole book in less than a week. I’ve read all of Courtney Rene’s books and this has been the case with all of them.
This book was my very favorite. Her writing just gets better and better. She has a way of making her main character so interesting, but somewhat quirky at the same time. Courtney’s writing is magical and just sucks me in every time. Her choice of words is appealing and smooth plus there is always some kind of action going on. Many writers spend too much time focusing on describing everything and that tends to bore me. And if I’m bored, I simply won’t finish the book! But this book, I read into the wee hours of the night because I just couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. And I wasn’t disappointed.
The only bad thing I can say about this book is I’m now left thirsty again…needing more! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a third book in this series.
I recommend this series to anyone who likes interesting characters, good writing, and compelling storytelling.

When A Howl in the Night came out, it was my favorite book by Courtney Rene, but this book surpasses the first one in the series. Courtney has a phenomenal ability to convey the voice of a seventeen-year-old. Abigail is spunky and strong-willed without being annoyingly snarky all the time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and found myself on the edge of my seat while reading the climax.
If you enjoy paranormal/shapeshifter books, you need to read this series.
I can only hope we don't have to wait too long for book three.

I was so excited to see that Courtney Rene had written the sequel to A Howl in the Night. The Full Moon Rises doesn't disappoint as we learn more about the complicated world of shape shifters that Abby has been thrust into. Abby leads us through her new world determined not to let the male dominated families keep her on the sideline as a new threat arises threatening all of them.
