A senior member of the design team for Star Trek: The Next Generation presents an incredible journey through the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. From the bridge to the ship's holodecks, these exciting, detailed blueprints reveal every deck, every corridor, and every corner of the ship. Includes thirteen large format (22" X 34") blueprints and an exclusive 16-page booklet.
As far as blueprints for the NCC-1701-D are concerned, this is the motherlode. It's not a book. It's a box shaped like a book, and it holds several poster sized blueprints that show, in detail, every deck and floorplan for the Galaxy Class Flagship Enterprise.
Everything is there. Even to a point you would be surprised what the Enterprise held that you weren't aware of. Dolphin crew members? Yeah, you can say that. Whales onboard, too?!? Sure looks like it. You can find out stuff like how many levels the computer core goes through, what the captain's yacht looks like and where it's located, phaser array locations, Jeffires tubes, all of it is there for the viewing. You also get a 16 page insert with design and TNG production discussions.
I can only think of two downsides to this "book". First is the lack of technical specifications, which while many sci-fi blueprints provide them, it's not a widespread standard. Second is the fact these are several large, poster sized blueprints. It's great when you're into that. Really great. But if you're like, and you like flipping pages instead of unravelling a giant diagram on your floor, table, bed, etc, then it does limit how often you can enjoy this. Still, limitations included, this collection is hard to beat.
These are great but fair warning: THIS IS NOT A BOOK.
I purchased these because the description I read online made it sound like it was a book, but instead I got a box of fold out blueprint sheets/posters. Very kewl, but not what I was expecting, and not terribly useful when what you really want is a book.
That said, the level of detail pretty much requires the large sheets. If this material were printed at book size, you'd be hard pressed to actually see any of it.
You know you want this. When I saw. The blue prints on an old book store I grabbed them immediately and held tight like Golum with his "precious"... Ok it wasn't that bad.... Wait it probably was that bad. While I love the original series ship and the new Enterprise-E of the movies is ok, no ship fills your heart like the Enterprise-D. Look at the curves you simply can't beat the design, she looks alive. The Enterprise-D will always be the ship that comes to mind when I think of Star Trek.
Excellent to have in one's collection. However, there are some things in the plans that will have you scratching your head but that can be expected when everything changed (locations) from episode to episode. But it won't distract you from enjoying it...
