Great plot with a fast paced story! Nellie and her family travel through the desert heading from Boston to New Mexico in the 1880s. They all meet a horrible demise by the hands of the "wolf" and his cohorts. Nellie is fated to become a slayer for the Queen of the Damned, Renata. After serving over a 100 years, destroying demons, Nellie's "wolf" resurfaces hell bent on making her his again. Nellie sets out to fight him with her eclectic bunch of friends. Will Nellie finally admit her love for her best friend, Nathaniel, a panther shifter, in order to slay her worst demon?

Nellie O’Malley is an innocent 24 year old woman when she sees her family killed before her by a man who her father owed money too. After he takes their lives he rapes her and leaves her for dead but there are greater things planned for Nellie so when a woman promises her a chance of revenge she accepts.
A couple of hundred years later and Nellie has become a top slayer protecting humans from demonoids. There is only one person she trusts Nathaniel. A Panther shifter who knows Nellie is his mate Nathaniel has been looking after Nellie ever since he met her.
Will these to be able to find love or will a ghost from Nellies past keep them apart?
Wow where should I start. This is a fantastic start to a series with a well-developed plot, likeably characters and a fantastic conclusion what more could I want. Nellie is a strong independent woman who can take care of herself. Nathaniel is a strong caring man who supports Nellie in her work. He wants to protect her but knows that she can do that herself so instead he looks after her and provides comfort.
All of the characters are developed and I cannot wait to see what comes next for them all. I love a book where I like the main characters rooting them on all the way through and truly dislike the villain. K Margaret defiantly provides me with this and from the beginning I’m waiting for Nellie to get the life she deserves.
This is a great book with interesting paranormal aspects, a strong romance and enough blood and gore to satisfy me. I would happily recommend it

The story revolves around Nellie O'Malley, a young woman who has given up hope of a husband and family because she has not married at the ripe old age of twenty-four. Her ever-optimistic father is convinced that she will meet someone when they finish their journey from Boston to New Mexico. Unfortunately, the family never makes it to New Mexico alive. Nellie ends up being claimed by the Queen of the Damned as one of her slayers and so Nellie's afterlife goes until her past threatens her present.

I have to say that I loved, loved, loved this book. It reminded me, in a lot of ways, of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer", which was one of my favorite television programs. However, it isn't so much like it as to feel derivative. The author has an excellent ear for dialogue and the world she has created has left me wanting to to know more. I really want to know more about the secondary characters so I am hopeful that this is but the first book of many.

There are a few sex scenes and they are hot, so I would have to recommend this book to 18+.

This story didn't quite do it for me. It got a good rating from me because I didn't get lost during the story, nor did it bore. It just seemed a bit too many words. There were times that it seemed a re-telling... and it was more than once. I wanted to kick Nellie more than once and tell her to open her eyes.

This book and the characters hooked me from the start. I'm not big on spoilers in book reviews, so I won't give anything away. But I enjoyed the fiery nature of the characters and watching them go through the events in the book was an exciting adventure.

Nellie is thrust in to bring a slayer. She's been a slayer for a very long time. She doesn't let most in. Nathaniel has loved Nellie, since he first laid eyes on her.
