Being broke is hard enough, but being broke with a baby on the way is more than Liam can handle. Refusing to allow his unborn child to be raised on the same drug-riddled streets he was, Liam searches for answers to their life of poverty--avoiding the crude and persuasive drug dealers who promise him luxuries and safety. But on the gritty and dismal streets of the estate, there is little hope that young Liam can provide for his family without breaking the law. Liam must make a choice. It's now or never.
Suddenly, the choice is no longer his. Kaylee, his pregnant girlfriend, makes a deadly decision that changes everything.
Just when I think women can't write bloody and action scenes, comes H. J. Lawson to prove me I'm wrong.
This is a kicking way of starting a series. Want romance? You got it. Want action? You got it. Want suspense? You got it. Want a heartbreaker ending? You got it!!
I'm really intrigued for the upcoming books and I want to know how this is going to fit in the series.
PS: The cover is pretty cool!
-I received a book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion, which I did-
Broken by H.J. Lawson is the first in this series. Liam and Kaylee, a young couple in love, are having a baby. But the world is broken and doesn't allow change to come easily. Will they be able to break the bonds that hold them or will they add more bars to cage they are in?
This is a short story, but in that time you really feel a connection to the characters and a desire to dig deeper into their lives and find out the answers to a lot of questions that come up from the reading. Wanting to know what kind of world they are from. What the economy and differences in estates are. and what are Liam and Kaylee going through specifically.
What a window into their lives we have been fortunate enough to see!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. Thank you!!
Such a sweet short story by the lovely H.J. Lawson which I'm a huge fan of. I might have given it more stars if it wasn't like I felt lost in who is doing what and when! To be honest I might have been waiting for some kinda a dystopian story or something!
Otherwise, I loved it and I'm waiting for what gonna happen next so I may love it more.
