*** 5 'GRAY' STARS ***
Ellie had a tough life, full of abuse, pain and suffering. When she finally escaped from her life of horrific abuse, she tried to stay well hidden but also be watchful and suspicious of everyone and everything.
When she meets mysterious and sexy Grayson for the first time at a nightclub, the attraction to him is insane. Grayson is a dark, badass guy with steely eyes and smoking hot appearance. Beautiful Ellie is perfect in his eyes, in every way. There is an undeniable spark and Gray and Ellie agree to follow this overwhelming, ardent passion.
But, their night doesn’t go as expected. Grayson is a killer and Ellie will soon discover his dark side.
What will Gray do when he finds out that his next hit is Ellie? Gray is intrigued by her and isn’t willing to let her go. He is determined now to find the hidden secrets of her mysterious past and protect her.
I loved seeing the soft side of Gray and watching him grow and become much more compassionate. I liked how Ellie overcomes so much. There are a lot of personal issues that she had and Gray was able to free her of that burden. Secrets will be revealed in this book. Secrets that kept Ellie in the dark.
I think the author was able to create the right amount of drama and angst. The story reads pretty quickly and there's enough action along with steamy that will keep your attention all the way through.
I also think that, at least for my standards, the author wrote the lighter side of dark romance, with enough elements to get inside Gray’s dark mind and emotional torment.
And wow!!!!… JL Beck what an absolutely fantastically clever ending. I so didn't see it coming. This book gets 5 stars from me.

Review Time!!!
Safe to say I'm a J.L. Beck fan for life. Forever. I will one click the shit out of and pre order the crap out of each of her books without reading the synopsis or anything. She's that author for me.
Let me start with the cover. That cover belongs in a frame. It's sexy as fuck in my Kindle.
Also, do you know the AMAZEBALLS author wrote this novel while pregnant?! I can't write a review when I have a freaking cold. She's one badass author. Fun little fact for you.
Now the book.....
I was torn between slapping Grayson one minute to jumping his bones the next. True story.
That should give you a hint of the sexy and hotness in this book. Just... trust me. It was the shit. ;)
The whole time while reading this book, I was just like....
There's nothing this book didn't have. It was dark. It was gritty. It was cold, brutal and lethal. It was also sexy and at times, sweet like none other. All thanks to Grayson. The notorious killer. He made me all like "Oh my... Grayson!" Throughout the whole book.
Now those of y'all that know me or have read some of my reviews know that there is nothing I love more than a badass heroine. She has to be strong. And Ellie. She was BADASS. I loved this chick. She really knew how to hold her own. The past she had made her so strong. She was so much better for it. Regardless of her feelings for Grayson, she refused to give in to him. She knew she was badass. And that made me love her more. She was awesome and so fun to read. By far probably one of my most favourite heroines. Ever.
I despised Luke. Or whatever his name was. I hate him. With a passion.

This book was very cleverly written. I never expected that ending. I never expected those surprises and plot twists. Josi was very successful in keeping me at the edge of my seat and biting my nails. I actually read this book in 2 sittings (would've been one if real life didn't come knocking on my door :/). It was that good.
Sometimes you were just a pawn in the middle of a war bigger than you ever suspected. Secrets of the past were exposed, sides were taken, and it was then that I realized loyalty was not given freely but earned.
It was as if he was gasoline, and I was the match needed to start the fire.

Be warned! It ends on a BIGASS cliffhanger. So if those aren't your thing, then wait for book 2. Also, Tuck NEEDS to have his own book. It's gonna be so much fun watching him fall. Now I could go on and on but what would be the point? Y'all get it - it's a must freaking read!!! :)

Unfortunately I seem to be in the minority here with my rating. This book just didn't do anything for me.
The idea of the story was good and at about 50% there was a nice twist but otherwise it didn't make any sense.
Grayson was supposed to be the most dangerous man in New York and Ellie was a runaway with a dark and dangerous past.
I couldn't figure out how Grayson, being the killer that he was, suddenly fell flat on his face and was magically in love with Ellie after only a few days. Ellie hated Grayson and all that he stood for but fell in love with him anyway.
"I could feel the warmth of his hand on my shoulder. As much as I wanted to shrug it away and pretend like it didn’t melt me a little, I couldn’t. Having let him know my story made him the closest person to me."
"I had never been a praying man a day in my life, but I was praying that if I could save anyone at the end of all of this it would be her."
I didn't feel any connection to Grayson and Ellie. The sex scenes did nothing for me. The writing was somewhat choppy and didn't flow well. The whole story went way too fast with no build up to the end which was a cliff hanger.
I mean no disrespect to the author or those who enjoyed the book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I'm not sure how to rate this. It was good and bad at the same time. It was a really quick read, which may have been part of the problem. Everything happened too fast without enough depth. This had the worst case of insta-love ever. It was so ridiculous!

Ellie and Grayson had just met 5 minutes before he made this proclamation. He was supposed to be a cold hearted killer, but he instantly fell for some random woman. His evil side wasn't depicted well. Ellie hated men like Grayson, but she just liked him anyway. The plot was alright, but the romance was completely unbelievable.

This book had the potential to be so much more than it was. Everything felt so rushed. If the author had turned this into something other than a short story, and took time to develop the characters, it *could* have been so much more.
But instead we have a short story that ends in a major cliffhanger and no release date as of yet for the next book.
The author, on the last page of the book, asks, "Loved it? Hated it?", I didn't hate this book, because I did see the potential in it. But I didn't "love" it either... kind of lukewarm.
When Grayson spots Ellie across a crowded club, he's drawn to her. He doesn't know why, he just is.
He's at the bar when she approaches him. She's decided, on this night, that she's going to be someone else. Just to do something other than work and hide. One (quick) minute later, Grayson taking her out of the club, out the back way.
Grayson has to kill Ellie, his own life depends on it. But can he do it? He's never hesitated before, so why is he this time? With her?
This book could have been more of a 3.5 or 3.75. But it needs a lot of editing work, and bit more character building. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series. Depends if the author is going to string us along with a bunch of short stories or if she'd going to make an actual novel of Severed Ties.

Grayson has to kill Ellie, his own life depends on it. But can he do it? He's never hesitated before, so why is he this time? With her?
Secrets come out, lies and truths are told. Will someone die? Will Grayson and Ellie make it out alive? Who are Grayson and Ellie? You'll have to read to find out.
"In the end you deal with the cards you were dealt in life. I couldn't change the hand, but I could draw a new card to better my deck."

5***** Dangerous stars from me

I just finished this beauty and i'm speechless, what a big cliffhanger.. i want more. There were so
many things in this part i honestly don't know where to begin. First things first Dangerous Ties is
the first part of the series, it was a fast reading where my heart was beating really fast all the time
by the suspense and the agony.
Everything started when a guy wanted to simply get laid and a woman who taking actions outside of her comfort zone. Well here is the catch, Ellie doesn't know that she is taking that risk with one of the most dangerous men exist and simply Grayson didn't know those blue eyes will going to be his downfall. Both characters have a dark and painful past especially Ellie, you easily fall in love with both of them. Grayson may be a bad dangerous guy bad but those things won't deter you from liking him because you can see underneath him, you can also read his thoughts. He definitely didn't born bad and definitely some things made him this way, there some blanks in his story and i'm pretty sure that we are going to learn more in the next parts.
Ellie on the other hand has suffered so much but she continues to try to overcome every obstacle to finally gain her freedom and the peace she deserves and has been stolen from her. I really admired her tough character she keeps fighting never giving up, she may left a window open for Grayson but things won't going to work well. I really can't say much because i don't wanna spoil anything you certainly have to read and you'll understand what i'm saying.
Furthermore secrets, lies, twists (Big twists) are blow-minding in this book which is also filled with many emotions such as anger, sadness, hope and many more. I loved their intimate moments, passion was leaking everywhere and Grayson's explicit mouth was the WOW moments. I really enjoyed reading it and i can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

Grayson and Ellie's story is a steamy one full of suspense. A flirtation at a club turns into more than either one of them could have imagined. Grayson was on the prowl for a one nighter when he spots Ellie across the room. Ellie is trying to come out of hiding when Grayson rocks her world. Hell they rock each other in a way that will put both of their lives in danger. I loved these two together and I am dying to see what happens next.

Received a copy for my honest review.
Sorry I just didn't get it. There was no connection or chemistry between the 2 main characters, Elle and Grayson.
He's a hired killer who takes out someone right in front of her, but all of a sudden he has to protect her?
Elle is running from her deadly past, but then is super attracted to this guy?
It just didn't make any sense.

A very intense and exciting book. Great storyline and amazing characters. A total rollercoaster ride of mystery, passion and danger. A real page turner from beginning to end.

Yes there is a cliffhanger and what the junk did I just read and who the heck is on the cover? Did I miss who that was because dang you want to look away but you cant. Try .. holy what and wow.
I was seriously afraid to turn the pages of this book. The chapters are noted with the characters name on a bloody knife. YES! HAHA!
Grayson is a killer. Not your ordinary killer .. a stone cold bad mother trucker killer that yes (don’t even say your wouldn’t) you would leave with in a hot minute from the club and that is exactly what Ellie did. Realizing he is just a pawn in his bosses game there is more to Grayson than you see on the surface. His friend Tuck knows this and also works for the “Corporation” and always has his back.
I cant really say too much as I want to give nothing away but there is some deep dark issues in this first book; things that will send you straight to the cliffs of hell. Wow …
Ellie Goodwin knows she shouldn’t want this man and she shouldn’t have exposed herself. Leaving with him was a mistake and now she has found herself in the same situation she was running from.
The first installment introduces us to “the boss,” Drake, Luke, Cole, Dex and Tuck along with our two main characters. Again I cannot say much as this is a short read but a brilliant one. The first installment sets up what is going to be one heck of a series. We are given flashbacks of Ellie’s past and Grayson reveals his as well however not so vividly or as in depth as Ellie. Im certain there is a reason for this.
The cliffhanger … dropped my jaw folks … put it back up with my hand and dropped it again … You have GOT to click this up. Grayson is dreamy .. just trust me on this … yup .. this man is a keeper.

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars!

Dangerous Ties is a quick an easy read. It’s fast paced and full of action and suspense. It starts off with two people just wanting to spend the night together. One person with a dangerous life. The other running from the past. The two just seeking peace for one night. However, life had other plans. Grayson had no choice but to show Ellie just how ruthless and horrible he really was. Ellie is now forced to stay with a man she doesn’t know at all. She should be afraid, but she’s seen worse monsters from her own past. Grayson now finds himself struggling with making the right decision. He knows that he can’t keep Ellie, but boy that doesn’t stop him from trying. If the current situation wasn’t bad enough, well, it’s about to get worse. Someone from Ellie’s past is looking for her. The situation is now critical. And no one is prepared for the truth that is about to be revealed…..
Dangerous Ties might be a short read, but I gotta tell you, it really packs a punch. It’s dark. It has intense moments. It is sexy. There definitely is no shortage of action, suspense, danger and of course steamy moments. And if that wasn’t enough for you, this book is filled with lots of delicious twists that you won’t believe. I know, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see how things would turn out. Dangerous Ties is a quick an easy read. It’s fast paced and full of action and suspense. It starts off with two people just wanting to spend the night together. One person with a dangerous life. The other running from the past. The two just seeking peace for one night. However, life had other plans. Grayson had no choice but to show Ellie just how ruthless and horrible he really was. Ellie is now forced to stay with a man she doesn’t know at all. She should be afraid, but she’s seen worse monsters from her own past. Grayson now finds himself struggling with making the right decision. He knows that he can’t keep Ellie, but boy that doesn’t stop him from trying. If the current situation wasn’t bad enough, well, it’s about to get worse. Someone from Ellie’s past is looking for her. The situation is now critical. And no one is prepared for the truth that is about to be revealed…..
Dangerous Ties might be a short read, but I gotta tell you, it really packs a punch. It’s dark. It has intense moments. It is sexy. There definitely is no shortage of action, suspense, danger and of course steamy moments. And if that wasn’t enough for you, this book is filled with lots of delicious twists that you won’t believe. I know, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see how things would turn out. And just when you think your heart can’t possibly take anymore, you get thrown one more twist and a cliffhanger ending….and it is a good one!! I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

HOLY SH#T J.L. BECK you did an amazing job with this book!!! I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book trying to get the answers to the questions I had and to see what the heck would happen next. I NEED MORE!!!! What an ending, I'm dying to get the next in this series.
Ellie is on the run from her past. She has never been treated with kindness and in turn ends up being drawn to a man that she can just tell is dangerous but she ends up going with him anyway.

J.L. Beck is one of the authors that I automatically one click. I noticed that with the authors I always read that eventually I get bored with them because after a while I know their writing style so well that I'm not surprised by the twists in the story. That is not the case with Dangerous Ties. The Dangerous Ties blurb made it seem like it would be a different read then the other books by J.L. Beck and it definitely is. Their is no boredom in this book and there is a cliffhanger that I never saw coming and it has me guessing what will come next.
It's a gritty read. Grayson is a hitman. He's super sexy and that's what draws Ellie to him. What was suppose to be a quick hookup turns out bad when Ellie see Grayson at work. Grayson is drawn to her and now must figure out what to do with her. Ellie has a past and that past collides with Grayson.

This is a deliciously dark and twisty story that had me hooked from the first page. I'd never been so glad to be stuck at the hair salon waiting on my daughters because I was able to read this book in its entirety.
When I say this is dark, believe it.
When I say this is twisty, believe it.
What I didn't mention was that this is also sexy. Well, Grayson is what makes this sexy. The chemistry between Grayson and Ellie is instant and man is it hot. Unfortunately for them, Ellie's past and Gray's present collide at the same moment, and with that both of their futures are irrevocably altered.
In the interest of keeping this spoiler-free, I will say that Gray and Ellie are connected in a way that I wasn't prepared for, and the bigger shock was the discovery of an individual's true identity. This ended with a helluva cliffhanger and I'm hoping, praying that we don't have to wait a long time to get the next part of the story.

Grayson is is a killer. A notorious cold blooded killer. The first time he's sees Elsie he is attracted to her. Witnessing things she shouldn't Grayson has no choice but to take her to protect himself.
This books is dark and gritty, passionate even. I loved every second I got to spend with Grayson but was torn on weather I loved him or wanted to scratch his eyes out. Elise is one bad butt chick,, no damsels in distress in this book, and that's refreshing. I loved her. Loved every second I got to spend with her. It's twists and turns wrapped jn darkness and a must read, I really loved this book. The ending will leave you speechless.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is a fast paced, suspenseful, dark read with twists and turns and heartbreak. I love Grayson and Ellie even though Grayson is a bad guy. I'm hoping he will redeem himself. It ends with a cliff hanger and I cannot wait for book # 2!

Great start....
First I would like to thank Ms Beck for providing me with an ARC of this book, I was really excited to be chosen, as l love all her books.
I love books that are told in dual POV's of both the main characters, and this was the case for this book, because I love being able to know what both the male and female characters are feeling and thinking.
This is also not a standalone novel and ends on a "to be continued" note. Therefore if you don't like reading books that require that you wait for the next instalment to find out what happens maybe this isn't for you, that being said Ms Beck does not make you wait for ages for the next book to come out.
This book is categorised as a dark romance there's no BDSM, but it does contain violence.
This book starts off with the first meeting between the two main characters, Grayson and Ellie in a club, I loved the instant attraction between both of them and the pull they felt towards each other, then certain circumstances happen that night that makes them realize that maybe it's best that they don't act on this attraction, though matters snowball and that decision is taken out of their hands.
The story then takes off and the author pulls you right in. I have to say though that I did feel that the relationship between Grayson and Ellie, for me personally felt a tad to rushed. I felt that their feelings progressed way to quickly from lust to love in only a day or two especially given the profession of Grayson as a Killer that should have made him be more cautious to trust anyone and to find it very hard to have feelings for anyone especially a stranger that he just met, given that he was one of the elite in the syndicate of these killers. Then for Ellie to to be accepting of Grayson and trusting him so quickly after living through her harrowing past and then to find out that Grayson also had a connection to a certain individual in that past made it feel unbelievable that she would fall for him so quickly. I personally would have liked to see their relationship and feelings for each other develope slowly than they did.
Apart from that I loved this book and the story and can't wait for the next book especially with the way that this one ended!! (I would definitely like to find out if Tuck is going to get his own story).
This for me was one of those books that when I finish I need to sit back for a moment and exhale, and ponder the awesomeness of what I just read, that I feel I need a coffee and a break before I can start a new book because I'm still reliving the story in my head and trying to figure out where the author is going to take us in the next instalment.
So if your thinking of 'one clicking' this book do it, you won't be disappointed, and if you love Ms Beck's book, like me, then you don't even need to read this review just buy it and enjoy!!!

There are many words I could use to describe the emotional roller coaster I just went through. But I'll just use a few. Oh. My. Goodness. We meet Ellie and Greyson in a club and right off the bat, their chemistry is off the charts hot! It's obvious they're head over heels for each other, even if one doesn't want to admit it. *cough* Ellie. All I'm thinking while reading is how oblivious can you be girl? It's obvious you have feelings for him! Don't try to deny it.
This book was an amazing start to a new series. J.L is one of my favorite authors because her stories are always so emotionally packed, and she makes a bad man seem so...ugh hot! There is just no denying it. It's books like this that is making me further enhance my unhealthy obsession with bad boys. Curses to you J.L. Beck! ;) You write the bad boys but you can't help but fall in love with them from the first page! Ugh, and my unhealthy obsession grows thanks to you! But I love your face anyways! ;)
It does end at a bit of a cliffhanger but that doesn't take away from the story. Not at all. I absolutely adored it from start to finish! READ THIS BOOK! The angst in the story keeps you flipping pages...or swiping pages...from beginning to end. :)

Dangerous Ties is the first book I have read by this author and certainly wont be my last.
Filled to the brim with action, danger, anticipation and wonderfully scripted characters. I enjoyed the storyline from beginning to end.
A fluent plot that keeps you engaged. Kick ass characters, that you will swoon over and bad ass ones that will have you cringing and wanting to pull out your own gun.
Romance and sexy moments that will have your loins tingling and moments where you will be holding your breathe.
Dangerous Ties focus's on Two tortured characters, both battling past and present demons. Ellie meets Gray - dark and badass but has the magnetism of a honey to bee. But far more potent.
The chemistry between Gray and Ellie is explosive and in time Ellie sees a different side to the dark side of Gray .
They come from the same world but different paths, and as Gray finds out Ellie reminds him of someone dear to him.
The author creates enough angst to keep up engrossed, heartache to keep us riveted and action to keep us on the edge of our seats.
Be warned the ending will leave you wanting the next book pronto. !!

This isn't my first nor will it be my last J.L. Beck book. She did such an incredible job giving a cold hearted killer like Greyson a heart and soul, even when there were times you thought that he just couldn't. It is amazing what the attraction and curiosity for one woman can put a spell on a man like Greyson, who never thought about protecting or caring for another. He just cannot give her up, even when he knows being with her puts her in harms way.
Ellie never expected to be drawn to the sexy, dangerous and mysterious man staring at her from across the bar. A night of being reckless and just being brings Ellie back to the life she so desperately has run and hid from for so long. A life of abuse, pain and captivity. As much as she despises what Greyson represents, a life she once was a part of, she cannot stop what she feels for him and how drawn she is to him.
Dangerous Ties was filled with just the right amount of passion, danger and suspense. It kept me on my toes as I wasn't sure what will happen next, eager to get to the next part and often surprised by what was revealed. I was left with an "AHHH" at the end. I cannot wait to see what J.L. Beck has in store in book 2. Great job once again J.L., great job!!

Another amazing book by J L Beck.
This was a one sit read, that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I only sat down to read for a little bit but ended up missing my appointment as I couldn't put the book down.
I loved the emotion that ran through every part of the book. It was full of suspense, absolutely bonkers crazy, dark and full of heart break.
This is a short read but also the first book in the series, so although I was left wanting loads more once I finished and hit the cliffhanger, this book has set things up very nicely for what will follow and I absolutely can not wait.
Grayson was brilliant and everything I want in a dark bad ass hero. Yes he is a stone cold killer who is ruthless, skilled and has no emotions, His character however gripped me and I can't wait to see how he will change throughout the next book and how Ellie will change him, if she can change him at all?!
His character has so much potential. I'm excited to see what the author does with him.
This was a good first instalment. I'm looking forward to what's next.

When I first started reading I wasn't sure what to expect and it seemed a little dark, I was so intrigued in the writing and how easy it was I couldn't stop reading. Graysen was an angry type that seemed out for revenge and worked for a very dark organization. Ellie was an innocent girl that had a horrific upbringing and trying to get away from it all. Once the two of these characters meet, there is a chemistry neither of them want to deny or trust. You can feel the beast in Graysen start to relax and go into protection mode, putting him in unfamiliar territory. Ellie feels something is off once they meet but cannot stop herself from going with Graysen. Once she is under Graysen's roof, she has to be hidden from his team. The organization has a meeting to discuss their next hit and once Graysen finds out who it is, panic sets in. The story gets better from there, the ending is pretty good and leaves you to look towards the next installment in the series. This was my first book from this author and I look forward to the next installment and looking into what else she writes.

I was given this book for an honest review
This was very different to what I expected and I think its a great introduction to what looks like a great action filled series.
Grayson meets Ellie in a nightclub and they hook up for what they both believe to be a one night stand but is it just going to be one night ......
Sparks fly as soon as these two meet but they both have secrets, He is a hired Killer and she is on the run, could there secrets be intertwined .......
We also get introduced to a lot of secondary characters who are all totally bad ass.
I really don't want to give to much away and I really believe this could become a brilliant dark suspense series. This short but fast paced book had me from page 1 and considering dark reads are not normally my choice that should tell you something. I do have to say there is a cliffhanger but hopefully the next installment will be out soon.

What an edge of your seat, suspense filled, intense page turner of a read. Consumed me from start to finish and read in one sitting!
I instantly devoured Grayson and Ellie's story, apart from it being one of my favourite genres to read the plot instantly draws you in. He's a cold blooded murderer and she's seen to much...
We had already crossed a dangerous line—a line where there was no coming back. We were on the run. From whom, I didn't know, but he told me it would all be okay, and he would do whatever he could to protect me from the people who were hunting us.
It's fast paced and although relatively a quick read it certainly packs a punch. A fantastic start to what I can only hope will be a fantastic series.
Would highly recommend to readers who enjoy a dark suspenseful read.

I instantly devoured Grayson and Ellie's story, apart from it being one of my favourite genres to read the plot instantly draws you in. He's a cold blooded murderer and she's seen to much...
We had already crossed a dangerous line—a line where there was no coming back. We were on the run. From whom, I didn't know, but he told me it would all be okay, and he would do whatever he could to protect me from the people who were hunting us.
It's fast paced and although relatively a quick read it certainly packs a punch. A fantastic start to what I can only hope will be a fantastic series.
Would highly recommend to readers who enjoy a dark suspenseful read.

I am a J.L. Beck fan for life and have yet to be disappointed in a book she's written!! and this one is no different. I was sucked in from page one and now I need more... that can't be the end.
throughout the book I needed to know everything and while some things got answered as soon as they did BAM you are hit with more questions. this book had me yelling at my Kindle saying things like "that did not just come out of his mouth" "he's such a jerk (well it was worse than that but we shall go with jerk)" "don't let that happen... nooo this can't be happening
Elle is trying to get away from her horrible father &past and she runs into Grayson... the epitome of what she's trying to leave behind but she doesn't realize it until it's too late. Grayson he's a hunk of a man and a ruthless killer.
but what happens when Ellie makes him feel things he hasn't felt in years? She could be his undoing. What's gonna happen next? I don't know but man do I need to know...

WOW another amazing book from JL Beck!!!! What a great start to what is looking like a series that will have you begging for the next book as soon as you finish one. That is what I'm doing now.....begging and begging for the next book because this book was that amazing. I was taken on an emotional, twisting, turning, and suspenseful journey that I can't wait to continue. The writing was phenomenal and fast paced. The suspense, twists and turns kept me turning the pages as quick and as slow as I could. lol I wanted this book to last and tried to prolong it but I just could help but to keep turning the pages to see what was going to happen.
One thing of advise before you start this book........make sure you don't have any other plans or cancel the ones you do because once you start this book you will not be able to put it down.
