I am so glad I found this. I needed to read what Cora Jakes-Coleman wrote in these pages. I loved how she shared her story of not being able to have her own children, what it was like for her and how she rose above the emotional bondage any tragedy can hold us in if we do not fight with faith. I read this on my Kindle but I know I need to have this physical book in my library. This is one to go back to when you need a reminder that God is right there and its all going to work out just the way He needs it too. I was in a dark space when I started reading and I praise God that He spoke to me through this sister.

"Your relationship with God is your most powerful weapon." Faithing It by Cora Jakes Coleman is one of those books that is more than just about your "purpose", but more about who you are in Christ and how you are to walk out that life. I love how she talks about having confidence in the relationship you have with God and if you're in a dysfunctional relationship, let it go. She says not to push a relationship that God does not orchestrate, which I think we is so easy for many of us to do. We find ourselves in friendships, saying "yes" to too many things or walking around with emotional baggage from others that God never asked us to do. Our relationship with him is the most important and the most powerful weapon. I loved that statement and it really stuck out to me from this book.
Cora also addresses suffering, endurance, prayer, new thinking, the Bible, how to be victorious and how to be vulnerable with the world, which is something else I really enjoyed about this book. God already knows your sins, so why do you act as if there is nothing going on. He already knows, so stop hiding them. He knows the issues, be honest, get real and then be real with people that you trust, so you have accountability.
Does this book talk about purpose? Yes, but it is way better than the purpose you're thinking of and it's the kind God called you to!

Review Title: Seek God's Best Through the Storms (review of Faithing It by Cora Jakes Coleman)
Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars

This book will be a blessing to all who read it. The author has been through figurative storms in her life which forced spiritual growth. As she persevered with God through the pain, she found Him faithful to provide rewards on the other side of her hurts. She speaks from authority that when we do as God asks of us then He blesses with abundance. This is not presented as a transaction or deal made with God as if you do this then He will do that. Rather it is presented that when we allow Him to use our weakness and let His strength show through, mighty big things are released. When we stop thinking everything depends on us and instead rely on Him, His glory shines for all to see.

This book has nuggets of healing thoughts to share with loved ones. As an example, I have a friend facing major surgery. Today I read a passage of this book to her about when Noah was on the ark, and he focused on the thought of land being seen again. He did not go down into depression thinking he would always be on the ark with so many animals to take care of. Noah looked forward to the good future God would bring. The weight of my friend's anxiety lifted when she began to focus more on the pleasant outcome.after the painful surgery.

The prayers at the end of each chapter are especially helpful and supercharged with power from the author's relationship with the Holy Spirit. The book would be worthy of a read and keep based solely on the prayers that are right on target.

I thank bookfun.org, the author, and publisher for giving me this book to read and post an review. Hopefully, Christians will read this book and find it to be presented in the equally beneficial and beautiful writings of Cora Jakes Coleman. Read it to become wise in making the most of all the happenings in your life.

Great book but

I love her delivery she express some great valid points, BUT she literally repeat herself over and over. I felt like this book could have been done in 100 pages.

She gives lots of biblical encouragement. I found one or two things to not be biblical. (Unless I’m reading them wrong.). Worth the read if you are going through a hard time.

Awesome Testimony of Faith

I downloaded this book months ago, but was led by the spirit to read it on yesterday as I was searching for a word to hold on to my faith. Thank you for blessing me and the encouraging words reminding me the purpose of my tests and trials. I feel it in my spirit that God wants to move me to my next assignment, but I'm struggling with the process. Then I read your words: "The hardest part about the process is that you have to believe God, and you have to hold God's hand even if you do not know where He is leading you or how long it's going to take to get there." Thank you for understanding and reminding me that I must respect the process if I want to live the life that God has planned for me.

This is an encouraging book! Coleman is on fire with faith and wants us to be too. She wants us to learn how to develop our faith and go after obstacles by “faithing it.”

She knows what she is writing about. She was molested as a young girl. She realized then that life would never be easy. She was diagnosed with infertility when all her life she told God all she wanted was to be a mommy. (She did marry and adopt.)

She reminds us that God is developing His purpose through our trials. We have been designed by God to persevere. We have been designed for trials because we need them to get to the promise. We must be willing to go through the process to receive what God has for us.

Coleman uses biblical stories and her own experiences to support her teaching. She's tough. She says we cannot wait for others to support us. The only One we can count on for support is God. She calls us to stop complaining and say what God says is true. She tells us that we will have to be willing to work hard. We must submit to God – sometimes He may say no for various reasons.

This is a great book for people facing challenges they think they may not survive. It contains great encouragement for making it through the storm. She believes God has greatness in store for each one of us and He will not forget us. Even though Coleman encourages us to confess certain truths, this is not a name-it-and-claim-it kind of work. She is very realistic in her teaching. In fact, one of her challenges for her readers is to not be arrogant. She includes great prayers at the end of each chapter.

There is a section at the end for group leaders so this book could be used in a classroom or small group setting.

Food for thought: “We must believe that God is better at living our lives and controlling our lives than we are.” (117)
“Don't ask God for something big and think you will have little storms.” (202)

Having been a pastor's kid myself , I was excited to read this book. I know how hard it can be to always be watched with people just waiting for you to make a mistake as a pastor's kid. It seems that people expect us to be perfect but we are all the same. We mess up, we stumble but we dust ourselves off and continue our journey.

Faithing It "means that in order to get through our problems and bypass our circumstances , we must fight with faith - and without a faith fight there cannot be a win." If you are going through a struggle right now, go to battle and arm yourself with faith. The author encourages us to Fight for our promise . Don't let anything stop you from the promises God has for you. It can be discouraging sometimes to think we are alone in the battle , but guess what? We are never alone as long as we have God .

The book is very encouraging and gives us insight to fight off the attacks of the enemy. We sometimes get so caught up in what people are saying about us, that we start to believe the lies. The biggest thing to remember is that we are a child of God. This is a powerful book that will have you charged up ready to fight to overcome whatever the enemy has thrown at you. "Don't look back. Stop giving the people who hurt you in your past the power that is rightfully yours. Forgive those who have hurt you -not just for them but for you."

Thank you for writing such an intense eye opening book that encourages us all to take back our life, be free from shame or hurt and start "Faithing It."

"Faithing It: Bringing Purpose Back to Your Life" by author Cora Jakes-Coleman is a 208 page hardback book packed full of encouragement. Author Cora is the daughter of evangelist T.D. Jakes, who has written the forward for this powerful faith inspiring book. After starting this book, I realized that for me I needed a bible pen to underline key points. Then after reading a little longer I needed a tissue because I was really moved and got teary. A little later I settled in with a cup of tea. This is a wonderful book and definitely hard to put down. It uses God's Word, real life experiences, and some tough love to get her message to readers that we should have faith and not just act like we do. We need to persevere and not quit. We need to trust God and not try to handle things without Him. She shows us that God makes good out of bad. Everything can be a lesson for us, especially the bad times.

This book was a delight. I would recommend it to anyone that needs a boost in their faith, is going through a difficult time now, or struggling with God. This book will help. At the end of each chapter is a moving prayer. Don't skip over it. Throughout the chapter will be inspiration and encouragement that you will want to refer back to many times. I rated this a 5 out of 5 stars. I loved it. Don't miss it! A copy of this book was provided for my honest review from The Book Club Network.

Her father, high-profile preacher J.D. Jakes, describes the book this way in his foreword: “If you have ever faced a challenge for which your circumstances made you wonder if you could survive, this book is for you. If you have a faith that needs to be managed, massaged, or has been maligned by disappointing news and bleak conditions that defied human rectification, here’s the answer coming through the pages ahead.” Certainly these are the biased words of a proud papa, but I found them to be an accurate indicator of what was to be found in Cora Jakes-Coleman’s inspirational book.
She explains what “faithing it” means. It means to choose to fight against the heartaches and obstacles in our lives and whatever would hinder the purpose and the promises of God. She says, “You cannot get to great purpose, promise, and legacy without great tribulation, but you can trust that everything works together for good in God’s timing.” She encourages the reader to trust that all is in God’s hands. She writes as one struggle to another, encouraging the reader to persevere in faith in the love and power of God. I received this book through the Bookclub Network in exchange for this my honest review.

No better way to start the year than reading this amazing book by Cora Coleman. It's talks about Faithing It till you see your victory. She highlights the importance of taking responsibilities for your purpose and trusting God to lead you all the way! She equally shares her journey towards purpose and like contrary beliefs, she explains that while you are on your way to your promised land you can equally help others to theirs. You necessary don't have to be in your testimony yet before you help others testify. In fact, helping others is a way of sowing seeds and trusting God for yours.

She talks on the importance of the Holy Spirit in reaching our God-given goals. No one is left without a purpose, and being in pain you need to rise to your purpose because the enemy doesn't want you to. So, challenge the situation and rise. You are more than this!

THINGS TO NOTE
1. Fighting with Faith requires attacking that contrary situation with God's Word and standing on it till victory!

Faithing It by Ms. Coleman intrigued me from the first chapter. She spoke straight to my heart. This was not a book to rush through. I loved her personal illustrations throughout. It had meat that I wanted to chew on slowly. This is definitely a book I will be discussing with friends and keeping on my shelf for more reading pleasure.

I received this book for free from The Book Club Network and the author in exchange for my honest review. I placed my review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Deeper Shopping, if available.

"We must learn to say Thank You to God before we dare open our mouth to say please" - Cora Jakes Coleman

Awesome read!! Cora was very personable and although she comes from a well known family, she kept it real in the book. With so much information and challenges, I had my highlighter in my hand with each turning page. You will absolutely walk away feeling refreshed, gaining a better understanding of your walk with God and more tools to elevate your faith.

"Faithing It: The Faith" by Cora Jakes-Coleman was a wonderful read. Her message was beautifully written and has gave me great encouragement in my walk with Jesus. The only issue I found with the book is that she does repeat herself a lot. However, I believe this is her method to drive the point home. I would highly recommend this book to anyone no matter where they are in their spiritual walk with God. High praise for Mrs. Jakes-Coleman!!

This the type of book you keep in your personal library to keep for all times and go back to reference it for a lifetime. Mrs. Coleman has a calling on her life before I read the book. I heard her pray. I had to write her because I didn't get my book and she was as gracious as she appears and found out the issue and made sure I got 2 books. Love this family.

Never give up

I enjoyed this book for the message to not give up on praying for and believing in your dreams, no matter how far away they seem from your present reality. We can all use a reminder that we are created for great things, and the greater our destiny, the greater the challenges will be along the way.
