Jack and his partner Bear have a run-in with four CIA special agents over the treatment of an Iraqi family. Within hours Jack and Bear are detained.
All Jack wanted was to finish his enlistment and move on with his life. All he did was intervene and save a family from unwarranted violence at the hands of four CIA agents. "Having just finished Noble Beginnings and being duly impressed, I feel I can now add L.T.Ryan to my list of favorite authors. Amongst them both Lee Child and Vince Flynn, as Jack Reacher and Mitch Rapp are similar and could certainly hold their own with a newcomer like Jack Noble.

Had heard about LT Ryan's Jack Noble series from my favourite author, CG Cooper. So grabbed this box set and started reading it. OMG! I'm in love with these books!! You have a Marine who was on loan to the CIA, then he left the Marines and began working for some super secret government agency. The first book he is in the Marines and in trouble, but he is not the guilty party. Now he has to clear his name and that of his best friend. The second book now has him working for some super secret government agency where he is helping to take down terrorists. The third book has him chasing down a rogue agent. So much action and twists and turns. The books are fast paced and take place in several locations around the world. This is going to be an awesome series. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Great characters and suspense and political intrigue. I needed a book to take my mind of my tragedy in my life and this worked. I didn't read them in the order below but I would advise others to do it this way. The first three Noble books can be read in any order. Books 4-11 & 13 are more of a continuous story. The Jack Noble box set books 1 - 3 contains Noble Beginnings, A Deadly Distance, and Thin Line ( I HAVE READ ALL UP TO THIN LINE). Ripple Effect is the first of four books in the Bear Logan series, a spin-off series, which takes place between Noble books 2 & 3. However, you can read those any time. They don't impact the Noble storyline until you get to around book 13, when a character from the four Bear books return. L T Ryan wrote all of this in a much different order, however the way they are grouped now works best.
Love this series! I'm hooked. If you enjoy equal parts secret agent/spy and conspiracy novels you've got to give these a read. No spoilers here, but Jack and Bear are a couple bad dudes. I look forward to picking the rest of these books, the hard part is putting them down. Sometimes sleep is less important than finding out who is behind what or how they are going to get out whatever scrape they're in. Have a Noble day :)
There isn’t really much plot in these books. They just ramble on from one episode to another. The grammar, syntax and punctuation are horrible. I can’t believe that these books ever got published. There was obviously no editing done on them. The author is clueless about verb tenses. I estimate about one error per page on average. That is very distracting. It’s like reading something an 8th grader wrote and got a C grade on, and his vocabulary is stunted at about a 2nd grade level.
This was a really good read. Jack and Bear are tough as heck. You have to love Marines. They are the good guys. I recommend this book to anyone who likes drama.
This set of Jack Noble novels keeps you sufficiently interested to keep moving from the first though the third and then seek out the continuing saga in the set containing books 4-6.
The characters, while somewhat flawed, do manage to grow on you though it take a bit of effort. There's plenty of infighting, described very carefully and fully that at times gets a bit off-putting, but always comes out in the end. I can clearly see these characters acting out these scenes on a slow moving screen and I remain interested as to where the twist will come -- and there always is a twist, just when you think the hero has won the day!
I immediately went looking for the second set to continue the saga. I am most curious where this story line will find it final direction as Jack Noble is not getting any younger!
Spoiler alert: Having been a Hitchcock fan, I easily deduced how Book 4 was going to start, but it was really fun reading it out as I had the Hitchcock film clearly in mind when I did. Any others with such an experience will likely enjoy the same reaction.
The Thin Line will leave you wondering where you stand on the line . . .
I've reviewed books 1 and 2 previously.
The Thin Line, and everything Jack Noble, is written for an audience of readers who love a complex tale with vividly written scenes and dialogue, kick-ass characters, non-stop action, suspenseful from page one, oh, and, always executed with secrecy or concealment, especially for purposes of subversion or deception, or in other words, always, and above all . . . deeply clandestine! It's all in there!
I'm not sure why I read all 3 books? The first was violent, but I thought Noble had some redeeming qualities and the 2nd would be better - it was worse, I didn't give up though, I went on to #3. Honestly, I didn't get past the 2nd chapter. I think they were masochistic at the mildest - - - I'm at loss for words ~ I guess if you enjoy reading a couple hundred pages of someone being beaten or beating others up you might enjoy them, there is very little human interaction in them and as I said earlier, as far as I'm concerned nothing redeeming.
Good, typical Jack Noble & Bear Logan plot, but be ready to wade through an abundance of typos and grammatical errors - very distracting. Would've gone ahead and given the book four stars except that after following a myriad of twists, turns and double-crosses throughout this book, the ending cliff hanger doesn't really inspire a desire to move on to book 4...very disappointing.
Great, great! Loved all three of these stories. Liked Thin Line the best, lots of action and fast moving. Found the last few chapters rather tense and couldn't put the book down even though I was starving! All was well in the end and can't wait to move on to books 4-6 which I have already downloaded. Jack is quite the guy along with Bear, a good team. The writing was good all the way through and I enjoyed reading. Highly recommend!
Jack Noble is ex-military and works for an agency more secret than the CIA or FBI. He has awesome skills and is a very powerful man physically. All 3 of these stories will keep you on the edge of your seat as you experience these thrilling adventures along with Jack.
Always a. Very complicated plot with many twists and turns. Jack Noble is aging pretty fast as he skips from 28 to 34 between two books. Can’t sustain that. Unlike my all time hero Jack Reacher Jack Noble tends to leave loose ends that cause him trouble later. Still an interesting story.
Some observations 1) Jack Noble has more enemies in the US's intelligence community than foreign terrorists; 2) He has more concussions per week than Philip.Marlowe; 3) He survives more cliff hangers than Dirk Pitt; 4) He will never have a normal sexual relationship; 5) He trusts no one
Poor grammer, proof reading, and sentence structure makes reading stilted in numerous places. Unrealistic characters and story lines. Over embellishments abound. Not interested in following this author or this character. Best of luck I with future endeavors.
I really enjoyed the story. I like the way the author keeps you guessing on the who and who done it. Never had a writer that went to such detail on the characters vision. Makes you feel like you are the agent in it. Going to keep reading to see if this feeling continues. Read the books and see if effects you the same.
The stories are well written from the plot to the dialog. Comfortable style of writing leads to an enjoyable read. The characters are likable and you find yourself not only rooting for them but also you are sympathetic to their condition. I read the first three books in the box set in three days. Starting book 4 now
Great hero and cast all together are marvelous!! Thank you Mr Ryan for being great writer and making super series!! Now ready for next ones to start tonight!! Keep writing Please!! Annette Graham
Characters are well developed, plenty of intrigue and a hint of romance. Right up there with The Grey Man series, Jack Reacher, etc. The book flowed well and it was hard to put it down.
Enjoyed the series 1-3. Always exciting adventures and at times unable to put down. At times I had to go back to follow the story, but enjoyed the series. Will definitely read more books in the series.
Took a while to get into and for some action compared with other similar books I’ve read, I’ve read the first 3 as they cam as a set, unlikely to read more on this character
Jack Noble.... crazy situations and one lucky b.....
Great story telling, action is deliberate and real. Glad to see Noble doesn't get shot and then keep running like some other book hereos. On top book 4.
Was a good read though as I find often, the story wound around without necessarily adding value. Just words. And as an aside. A thesaurus would be useful to remove the number of uses of the word frigid.
I say plots because each book is a separate story not necessarily depending on another. Each character is developed in a superior manner. The storylines sometimes get bogged down, but not so much as to lose your interest.
The introduction of Jack Noble draws you immediately into his life’s dilemma and how it started. Marines, CIS, undercover assignments are just the start. It gets better with each book!
While I enjoyed the writing, parts were a tad unbelievable. If this writer is ever able to draw people in to more believable plot lines he might just develop a "Jack Reacher" type hero.
Just finished the box set (1-3) and absolutely loved the read. Right up there with the Jack Ryan and Jason Bourne series. Can't wait to start book four! If you are a fan of action thrillers, this is a must read!
This is a good boxed set. Good characters and lots of action. Jack Noble is one tough character. There were a few oddities in the storyline at times that left me a touch confused but it worked out. Good series .
Way too many people to keep track of from one chapter to the next. Plot needs to be simplified. At conclusion, not sure of the outcome or why so many characters were killed.
The characters in this story went through twists and turns as the story progressed. Hard to put it down because you couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Can't wait to see how Jack's journey continues.
