Happy Crazy Love #3

Some Sort of Love

Rate this book
From the outside looking in, I had it all—a career I loved, a supportive family, the Nixon metabolism but not the Nixon ears, and a salary that supported my lavish taste in designer shoes, fine wine, and lacy lingerie … but I had no one to share it with.

Until the day I ran into him—my one night stand from college with the crooked smile, let’s-get-out-of-here eyes, and dirty, dirty mouth.

Cute and cocky then, today Levi Brooks is six feet four inches of hot bearded fantasy. A sexy single dad with broad shoulders, strong hands, and a fantastically big … heart. (I mean, it’s massive. And generous. And it pumps so hard … um. Sorry. Lost my place.)

Being a good father means everything to him, but he's keeping me at a distance because he thinks I deserve someone better — a man who can give me more time, more attention, more of himself. He doesn’t believe he could ever be enough.

But he's wrong.

He’s everything.

Some Sort of Love, *swoon*...you mean, some sort of YES!

Lust? Check!
Humor and passion? Check and check!!
Frustration, anger and heartbreak? Check, check and check!!!
Melanie Harlow makes the reader connect deeply with the characters. This books overflows with the feels!

10 years after a random closet hook-up, Levi and Jillian reconnect with one another and find that their attraction had only grown stronger over time. But as much as they still want each other, real life and responsibilities have become the priority. Can Levi finally seek happiness and love for himself, without neglecting his home life? And will Jillian always be content with never being Levi's top priority?

I absolutely LOVED this book! The characters' chemistry was some sort of SEXY, and the story progressed amazingly well...with a sweet and endearing HEA! 5 refreshing Stars!

Resting my forehead on hers, I whispered her name like a prayer, desperately wishing I could have this, have her, every single day of my life.
But something inside me wouldn't believe it was possible.

WOW!! This was the first book I’ve read by Melanie Harlow and I seriously loved it! I know that I’ll probably have to go back and read the previous two books about the other two Nixon sisters and their men. So this is the third book in the Happy Crazy Love series, but all the books can be read as standalones. There are three Nixon sisters and they each get their own story. This one is about the oldest sister, Jillian. She’s a thirty year old Pediatrician, who is the only Nixon sister who is still single. She just hasn’t had the time to pursue a relationship and also no one has really piqued her interest.

 photo SSOL Teaser 1_zpszwriaict.jpg

On the night of her sister, Skylar’s wedding, she runs smack into Levi Brooks. He happens to be the hot guy she met at a bar during her college days, who she ended up having the best sex of her life in a storage closet with. Eleven years have passed since then and she still thinks of that encounter with Levi whenever she has a date with her trusty BOB. Now at 32, Levi has become even sexier and lucky for Jillian, he’s single. He does have a young son with autism that he has sole custody of. His son is his whole world so Levi doesn’t have a lot of free time to spend on his personal life, but Levi and Jillian are still very much attracted to each other and decide to give things a go.

 photo SSOL Teaser 3_zpstakw3exq.jpg

Things heat up pretty quickly between the two and at first they're only able to see each other for a few hours on Friday nights. As time passes they both feel that one day a week is not enough. Unfortunately every time they try to make plans to spend more than a few hours together, something happens with Levi's son that has him having to cut short their plans. He feels like he will never be able to give Jillian the relationship she truly deserves. The problem is he keeps Jillian separate from the biggest part of his life which includes his son. Will Levi learn to bring the two pieces together before he loses his one shot at true love?

Now I can't end this review without giving honorable mention to the schmexy times. They really had my temperature rising. I swear to you, this author knows how to get a reader hot and bothered. I am strongly advising you to make sure your hubbies or boyfriends are around, or that you have a really good BOB handy to release some of the tension! LOL

This is definitely one not to be missed!! It releases on February 9th!! Make sure you one click.

5 Levi-licious stars!!

Seriously, I think Levilicious might need to be a new word. If you know how much I adore Lucas, then you won't take this lightly when I say Levi is so very close to edging off the top of my Favorite Melanie Men category.

This story is so amazingly sweet and so hot, anything less than five stars just doesn't make sense for me. Jillian is a bit more 'normal' than her sisters but she's still spunky and fun. Levi is a single dad of an autistic boy. I know Melanie did a lot of research from that angle and though I have no experience with it myself, it felt incredibly real. I felt the frustration, the guilt, the hope and the love from Levi every second we were in his POV.

Melanie may be famous for her Frenched series with its rom-com tendencies but she has proven with the Happy Crazy series she can pull off pretty much anything. There is still quirk and fun here but it's balanced nicely with a few tear jerking moments, lots of love and yes... the heat. If you've not read a Melanie Harlow sex scene then you're just missing out. They're perfect. Detailed but not so long that it takes away from the plot.

Although this could be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the first two books so you know who the other characters are. Cheers to Melanie for another great read! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

I was so excited to see how the sweet sophisticated Jillian got her HEA. I never imagined it was going to be with a man like Levi. Their chemistry was some sort of SEXY. They were "reunited" after a one nighter during college and instant sparks flew again. Then enter all the grown up responsibilities and real life issues, you got yourself some issues. This story kept you wanting more, this author definitely knows how to write and write well!!

This series was so many emotions rolled all up. Sweet, sexy, hairpulling, head banging on the wall, funny, loving, yeah you get it!! Glad I finally read them and they can faithfully be put in the read folder of my kindle finally =))
Definitely a series I would recommend❤️❤️❤️

4.5 How to End a Series Perfectly
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
There are so many talented authors out there... some times it is hard to choose what to read...Do you want fluffy and light or dark and angsty...or do you want to feel good... with words which connect to your inner desires...not just sensually but also deeply... to how you feel love should be between two people...

Melanie Harlow caused wonderful moments for me while reading this series. She created imperfect people who together made relationships which worked for them. She made me feel happy, connected and like watching these couples come together. Each of these installments were more than just sexy reads; they had depth, understanding of what it takes to love someone and how you need to accept them for who they are. That no one is perfect...but together with your person... you can have close to perfect moments.

In this story of the oldest Nixon sister, Jillian, we catch up with her as she prepares to deal with the dreaded drilling of family and friends about her personal life at the wedding of one of her sisters. Forget she is an accomplished pediatrician; self supporting and financial stable. Overlook she is beautiful, well rounded emotionally and has a charming personality. Nope, the only thing these people will be interested in is when is she getting married...when is she finding "her man" because she isn't getting any younger and at 30... the clock is ticking- tick tock.

She is handling things so far with polite nods and ok's; she is trying to just observe for a moment all of the wonder and activity of this beautiful event. Both of her sisters have found their one. Both are in bliss with passion and understanding looks from their guys.

Can it really happen that way...and when will it happen for her...Damn, she doesn't want to be jealous or envious... she is overjoyed for her sisters. It is just how in the hell is she supposed to find her guy; she works crazy hours- loving it yes, but still long hours. She has no patience for idiots and doesn't feel she is too picky... so where is she supposed to find her guy...

As she is outmaneuvering another Aunt telling her to open her horizons, she turns to get another needed drink and slams into a wall of MAN. Once she is able to get her bearings, she looks up only to see it is Levi...PINE SOL!!!!

Ok, this needs explaining...you see in college at 19, she met Levi at some bar with another group of friends. She wasn't scouting for a hookup, she was in a Harry Potter t-shirt, for God's sake. But the two of them chatted, then flirted, and then had the best utility closet sex ever! The scent of PineSol was in the air and the dirty words Levi whispered to the back of her neck were things that caused both of them to never forget. Seeing him here was a bit shocking but not unwelcome.

As they both start to talk... do that get reacquainted thing...he learns of her profession, she learns he is an architect and worked with a soon to be brother in law. She also learns of him being a single parent to an autistic son. They both continue to chat with more and more sparks flying and although Levi is called away from the party, he makes time to ask Jillian if he could get her number to follow up...and then they connect on a more personal way... because both of them cannot stop themselves...

They Kiss...with lips and then tongues and then with his desire hard up against her as he pulls her close... so close...He pulls away, they say good-bye...but their thoughts of each other linger on...

It is later that night, both are thinking of what was in that closet oh those years ago and what just happened...Levi texts Jillian. They start off a bit flirty, then more, then much-much-more and then a very, very hot sexting finishes off their "talk".

This story takes you on a journey that could be real. People have responsibilities, are single parents. And with being a single parent, there are real scars that can color how you see yourself. How you think you need to be. How you may not think you will be able to have any other relationship except the one with the child you love and care for. Because you need to be the best parent possible.

Levi has all of that as well as other conditions to handle. His Scotty is loving and also needing a routine. Any change cause problems. At 8, Scotty is having to adjust to new kids at school, teachers who are having difficulty making accommodations for him, and any other thing which may come up. Levi carries a lot of guilt and is sensitive to the comments from his family. They mean no harm but they didn't raise an autistic son... Levi and Scotty have their own way of coping...but it not all that user-friendly to change....Will Levi be able to make the changes needed for Jillian to be part of his life...and how much will that part be...

This book had just the right tone of seriousness with an overlap of sexy, sexy times, talk, and just the bliss of being in love. Gah... to have a man like Levi interested in you...let me tell you...If you can find someone half as "talented ah,hmmmm" as Levi...You will be a very happy camper.
And Jillian... so proud of you. She handles the situation exactly as needed and it all paid off big time.

Melanie Harlow was at the top of her game with this book and series. In my opinion she had it all right...all the family bonds, the couples and the sensual times. It is a series which will delight.

5 SUPER ADORABLE STARS

This is my first Melaine Harlow book and I’m so GLAD I started with this one. I was in the mood to read a single parent book and I was suggested this one.

If you want a melt-your-heart, sugary sweet and simply adorable read, then Some Sort of Love is for you. It’s okay to read it out of order, I had no problem in following the storyline.

This is Levi and Jillian’s story, told in dual POV.

Jullian is a thirty-something doctor. She has the life and career she wants, but no man in it. It’s not that she doesn’t want a man, it’s just that she hasn’t found the right one and EVERYONE is pressuring her to settle down. I loved Jillian, I found her sweet, compassionate and level-headed. I wanted to be her! I loved her heart and I love her family, her sisters are super cute to read.

Levi is a thirty-something architect. He’s handsome, sweet and loves his over bearing family, oh and he’s also a dad to an eight year old who has special needs. I know can you heart melt even more? I’m a sucker for a single parent, but you throw in a child with special needs, well I’m all over that. I love Levi’s love for his son and his need to be there for him. It’s the main focal point of the book.

Jullian and Levi have chemistry. The banter is cute and I love the exchanges they have with each other. They also go into insta-lust quickly and it’s hot and steamy. But Levi has reservations. He doesn’t have time for a girlfriend and he harbors a lot of guilt for not being the best he can be for his son. Jullian is very understanding and I love the open and honest conversations they have with each other.

The thing I love about this book is the writing style. There was zero angst, but good mild tension to keep you interested. I loved that the tension wasn’t between Jullian and Levi, but Levi’s need to be there for his son. I also like that the son wasn’t a brat. It’s hard to read books when the kids are awful, but his son was adorable and it added more to the read.

I found the book really realistic and it just hit all the right spots. I wasn’t in the mood for a happy read, but I’m so glad I picked this one up. You will have a smile on your face from first and to the very last page.

344 pages within 1 hour and I'm not a very quick reader. How? I skipped all sex-scenes. Easy peasy.

Since his child was autistic, I won't complain a lot.

30 yo woman, who is whining about being too old, for not having a man/husband and no kids - well, in 1956 I would believe in her struggles, but it's 2019 and I just roll my eyes.

Ok let's get into the story:Jillian was a 30 year old smart, funny with a great job and an amazing family but she was kind of lonely because she couldn't find her prince and the happily ever after like her sisters and of course it didn't help that everyone point out she was getting older and the clock was ticking! That's family my friends!!!Love it or leave it!!!

I'll take one tall, dark and handsome with a steady job and
a good sense of humor-oh, not the six-inch, the footlong. Thanks!

I wish we could pick them like that!hahaha

And then there is Levi a 32 year old gorgeous beard single dad to an 8 year old son who had autism.
He was an amazing dad trying to do what was best for his son while leaving his needs aside until a tall brunette with blue eyes from his past fall all over him out of the blue!He was the sweetest,
hottest and dirtiest caveman...

Hey. Pine Sol here.Just wanted to tell you again how glad I am your clumsy ass ran into me tonight. Can't stop thinking about you.

His son was his life and he was really harsh on himself when something went wrong with him, and it broke my heart that he couldn't believe what a great daddy he was!He was scared that he was disappoining everybody around him including his son, that's why he didn't let Jillian in his son's life because he was afraid that she would see he wasn't enough and she deserved so much more and decide to leave him.But Jillian was there for good and wanted to meet Scotty too, because they were a package!
And Scotty was the sweetest little boy!

Dear Jillian
I hope you say yes.
You make daddy smile.
I like you!
Scotty Brooks

Enough with the serious stuff let's get DIRTY here!!!
"You shouldn't say that to me. I'll lose control."
"I want you to.I want you to lose control.
I want you to fuck me like you can't hold back.
"Jesus Christ.That gorgeous mouth,saying those
filthy words.You're making me crazy.
"Good.Don't stop.
"Never.I'll fuck you as deep and hard as you want me to.
I'll even make it hurt,so it will feel that much better when
I make you come again.

description
"I fucking love how wet you are.I want my cock right there.I want to
bury myself inside you so deep it hurts.Just the way you like it."

description
"I fucking love it when you beg for my cock.It makes this moment,
when I first get inside you, that much sweeter."

description
This beautiful woman, who loved like an angel and
fucked like a porn star...what had I done to deserve her?

description
"You should never argue with me when I want this,Jillian, even
if I want it all the time because you taste...so...fucking...good."

This was a nice reading with funny and hot moments!

Enjoy!xxx

I LOVED this book! Sweet, funny and super sexy - this book was perfect! Levi is a single dad to a son with autism. He doesn't have much time for himself, let alone women and dating. When his one-night stand from college, Jillian, runs into him at a wedding, life is turned upside down. He doesn't have time for a relationship but he can't fight the way he feels about Jillian. The chemistry between these two was seriously hot! I adored Levi and his dirty mouth. I think this author did a spectacular job writing about a single dad to a special needs child - Levi was an amazing father who always put his sons needs first. I loved this book and it's a top book of 2016! I can't wait to read more by this author!!!

Yeah! I finally finish this series. And let me tell you, Some Sort of Love is the best one in the series. What really makes me feel emotional is Levi. I am not parent nor single parent. Reading Levi struggle rasing his autism son, balancing work and being a dad, is really real.

I can only imagine the frustration and feeling alone. I want to see more Jillian interaction with Scottie. In this book Jillian only focusing on getting into Levi's life and fail to explore how she reacting to Scottie. Or how Scottie reacting to her.

The sex scenes are hot. Some are not necessary. Overall I do enjoy this book very much. A very warm reading on a rainy day.

First and foremost, there is no some sort of love for this book because I f*cking LOVED this book hard!!!! Yes, Melanie Harlow has made me so happy crazy in love with Some Sort of Love. I even had to message Melanie and let her know that I am banging my head as to why I didn't start this series earlier because after reading this third installment, I am seriously addicted. More like obsessed with anything relating to the Nixon ladies.

photo 01ba55ec1b0ea164f134ff52d3edf8_zpsvkyvgy5r.gif “Everything about her was hot—the way she straddled my lap and lowered herself on to me slowly, like she wanted to savor every inch. The way she took me in so deep, the expression on her face a mix of rapture and pain. The way she moved her hips over mine, in rhythmic, undulating motions that had me fighting the urge to come inside a minute.”

Some Sort of Love was fun, sexy, raw, emotional, touching and honest. Right off the opening pages, I felt Melanie Harlow really knew how to capture her readers attention when she presented such vulnerable, raw, and honest characters. I love when an author can capture the hearts and tug all the right emotional chords of her readers and Melanie Harlow did just that and more. She allowed her readers to see a young intelligent single 30 year old woman trying to find the person that is right for her. And also a young single father juggling work and his parental duties to his son.

#SomeSortOfLOVE

I honestly don't want to say much in this review because the beauty of this story is experiencing the ups and downs of dating and being in a relationship. And the dating world and beginning stages of romance can be fun but it also can be a reminder that it's all about finding that balance and love in your life. What I especially loved about the story of Jillian and Levi is that we get two adults who knew that this connection between them is just right. They fit perfectly for each other emotionally and sexually. And as scary as any relationship can be, it's about taking that leap of trust to have that person enter your life but also your children's life. And for Levi, his fear and honesty was so welcoming because it allowed readers to see him so vulnerable. Vulnerable to guilt, fear, and a second chance to love.

photo 7681f02994633e50f4f7adb3416b48_zpsk8kcis2q.gif “I loved that he was being honest with me and not trying to string me along just because the sex was good. I loved his sense of humor and his dirty mouth and his concern about being a gentleman. And maybe it was superficial or sexist, but I loved how tall he was and the way he carried me around and took command of my body—it made me feel beautiful and feminine and cherished. And I loved the way he loved his son with all his heart—even if it meant there was less of it for me.”

Levi's character was portrayed so honest, raw, and vulnerable. I loved that Ms. Harlow stripped down Levi for readers to see a single father who is just trying to be a good father. A father who is trying to balance and work through the needs of his autistic son. A father who feels guilty at times. And most importantly, a man just trying to find the balance and happiness in his life.

#SomeSortOfLove1

And throughout this journey of finding the balance, I loved that Ms. Harlow allowed us to see that everyone is flawed and no one is perfect. Every relationship has its ups and downs. And just like Levi and Jillian who were trying to find that some sort of balance in their life, it's all about compromise and learning to let go of that fear. And for Levi Brooks, his some of sort of love was the girl who made him feel alive.

photo 01ba55ec1b0ea164f134ff52d3edf8_zpsvkyvgy5r.gif “My heart pounded hard inside my chest, but it wasn’t just from exertion. It was from feeling alive— fucking bursting with it. I felt like I could scale a mountain, swim an ocean, slay a dragon. It struck me how empty sex had been during the last few years, just a release of tension and nothing more. No feeling of wanting to consume a woman’s body the way I wanted to consume Jillian’s, of wanting to please her for my sake as well as hers, not just to make sure the score was even.”

So if you are looking for a story where you can fall head over heels in love with a man that will not only make you his Friday girl but his everyday girl, then Some Sort of Love is the book for you. With her fun, sexy, and playful storyline, Melanie Harlow definitely knows how to deliver a happy crazy love story!!! What else is there to say but get ready to LOVE Jillian and Levi's second chance romance story!!

“We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.”
I officially have a girl crush on Melanie Harlow. I’m in love with her writing style, and in awe of all the original, entertaining characters she creates. I have yet to read a book of hers I haven’t liked, and with Some Sort of Love the streak remains unbroken. It’s the third book in the Happy Crazy Love series, but you don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy the story.
“Love isn’t a finite thing in the universe. It’s not like it gets used up by people who got there first.”
I think this is the first romance I’ve read that revolves around a single father. Levi’s struggle to balance his responsibilities as a parent with his own needs is integral to the story. It’s realistic, and although I read books to escape from the real world, in this case it makes Levi all the more appealing. His relationship with his son is both sweet and heart-tugging.

When Jillian runs into Levi, their attraction practically burns the house down! A male and female who are equally proficient with the dirty talk? Yes, please! They’re both in their thirties and waste no time getting down to business. I love books with mature characters that don’t bother playing games or avoiding their feelings. Their chemistry is combustible, but they also connect on an emotional level. What Jillian needs and what Levi feels he’s able to give don’t always mesh though, which makes their future uncertain.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the book gives insight into a frequently misunderstood mental health issue. It’s addressed with great sensitivity and although there are many serious moments, the book has an abundance of humor. Jillian’s relationship with her no-filter sisters is hilarious, and Levi and Jillian’s sexual banter is funny and hot!
“Harry Potter fan, huh? So what are the chances I can Slytherin to your chamber of secrets tonight?”
I don’t know how, but Melanie Harlow has managed to deliver a thoughtful book that is both relevant and fun. It’s sexy, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and amusing – sometimes simultaneously. Any story that can touch both my head and my heart is a winner in my book.

Jillian is the eldest Nixon sister and while both her younger sisters have found love, she’s left batting off questions about why she’s still single and stares from well-meaning people trying to figure out what’s wrong with her. She’s trying not to be jealous and she’s trying not to feel lonely but it’s hard. At least she still has her job that affords her great shoes and a glass of wine to go home to at night.

It’s at her youngest sister’s wedding where she literally runs into Levi. The Levi she had one hot encounter with inside the broom closet of her dorm ten years ago. But he’s all grown up now. Large, sexy, bearded and just as keen as Jillian is for a repeat performance. Only he’s a single dad to a special needs son and his whole life revolves around caring for his son. There are also those pesky feelings of guilt because he can’t be everything to everyone that keeps him from taking Jillian back to his cave.

Will these two crazy kids manage to get it together?

Some Sort of Love is the last in the Happy Crazy Series and in Melanie Harlow’s signature style of witty, sexy and sweet, this was every bit as enjoyable as the previous books in the series. Jillian is a great character. She’s witty, smart and independent and she was unbelievably accepting and patient with Levi. Levi, however, was the character who escalated my level of admiration for Melanie Harlow. She did an amazing job of developing this character and I was completely sold on his inner turmoil. Trying to find balance between caring for his son and caring for himself, his stubbornness towards the help of others, the battles he fought for his son daily and also the guilt when things inevitably went wrong all made him extremely interesting.

The romance itself was amazing. There was a bit of a case of insta-love, there was still enough issues for these two to overcome to ensure there was plenty of angst and doubts to keep it all fresh and exciting. The chemistry these two had was unbelievable and Jillian’s confidence and Levi’s dirty words made the sexy times steamy and hot.

All in all Some Sort Of Love was a great edition to the series with an epic epilogue that closed of this series beautifully. Although this can be read as a standalone, if you enjoy a rom-com that is witty, sexy and smart; I definitely recommend not only Some Sort Of Love, but the rest of this exceptional series too!

Well... this one was just ok for me. I liked it well enough....

But it just didn't give me the "feels" like the blurb made me thing it would ...

Sure... Levi was a totally hot man that had a wicked tongue and a dirty mouth ....

but he was just too wishy washy with his feelings and the reasons he was holding back just frustrated me...

I thought the set up with his son Scotty was a unique storyline and it definitely gave the story some serious potential to bring out some feels; but again, Levi ....

I am really torn about this one. I think I had some serious high hopes but there was just way too much sex and not enough plot line for me.

4 "With you I am." Stars

Melanie Harlow's Happy Crazy Love series is contemporary romance with a flair for fun drama, hilarious anecdotes, and sweet romances. The sisters Nixon are three formidable women who's honest, witty personality's capture the hearts of readers and their men who need a push in the sustainable relationship direction. Jillian Nixon, oldest of the Nixon women, is no different during her quest for a happily ever after. Levi Brooks hails as a man who knows what he wants but is unsure of how to let himself get to the other side.

Troubled and fearful because of rocky past and challenging yet rewarding present, Levi Brooks finds solace and comfort in Jillian's strong character. For Jill, there's never been such a fire in her life like the one Levi stokes. Through a series of scheduled romps, honest and heartfelt conversations about the state of play in their lives, Levi and Jillian form a bond you can't help but connect to as a reader.

These two characters coupled with Harlow's excellent, cohesive story telling make for a really fun romance story. The attraction is quick leading to a sudden need and how the two navigate these unfamiliar relationship waters will leave you laughing and reeling. The plot of the two's relationship is a truly honest portrayal of two people in the positions of Levi and Jillian. It makes you admire these two characters for who they are and what they give to others outside of themselves. The hardships in Some Sort of Love are understated but no less challenging and real as Harlow creates beauty out of hard situations.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thanks to the easy flow of Harlow's writing and how fun she makes her stories I was able to finish the book in one afternoon. If you're a fan of the series, a lot of goodness comes from Skylar and Sebastion as well as Natalie and Miles in Jillian's. The Nixon sisters are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to their men. Levi and Jillian are up in a life-changing sort of way proving that Some Sort of Love does not disappoint.

Is there anything sweeter (or hotter) than a dad who would do anything for his son—even if it were at the expense of his own happiness? I don’t think so, especially when that dad is Levi from Some Sort of Love.

Levi is a hot, bearded, single dad. His son, Scotty, has autism, so being a single dad is made even more difficult than average. It also doesn’t leave a lot of time or energy for a romantic relationship. Levi’s life is based on schedules and predictability, and he believes a relationship doesn’t fit into the life Scotty needs to thrive.

As a doctor, Jillian has accomplished a lot in her life, but she wants more—including her own significant other and eventually, a family. Her sisters have both settled down, and Jillian sees what she is missing.

I loved Jillian and Levi together. Their story is one of compromise, patience, and sacrifice. There are so many sweet, swoony, sexy, and heart-smooshing moments between them. Add just a touch of angst, and it’s the perfect balance for a great love story.

All of Jillian’s family makes an appearance throughout the book, which helps to tie up the series with a perfect bow. I have enjoyed all three books, so it is a little sad to see the end. However, I’m a big fan of Ms. Harlow’s writing, so I know that I will be reading whatever she releases next.

I really enjoyed this book - thanks for the recommendation Mandy!

I even loved the description of Levi by Jillian - "Oh God, God, I loved that he had a real man's body, and I don't mean ultra-ripped like a bodybuilder's, or groomed to perfection like an actor's, or glossy and flawless like a magazine spread. I mean real, with meat on his bones and hair on his chest and a scar on one side of his stomach." That folks is my total idea of sexy! I agree with Jillian, I enjoy myself a REAL man's body. :D The thing is, I don't find it sexy when a guy spends more time on his body then on me haha

I loved how Levi was with Scotty. He truly was a great dad that always put his son first. I felt like his feelings of guilt were totally justified and I loved that he didn't parade women in and out of Scotty's life. To me, it is extremely unrealistic that a single dad - especially to a special needs child - would have lots of casual sex or even be labeled a manwhore, so I am VERY glad the author did NOT go there with this character. It would totally ruin the realistic feel of the book and I wouldn't have even touched it. I don't have any respect for men like that if that was even a possibility.

I only wished for more scenes with Scotty and Jillian and of course, a longer epilogue because I am spoiled, but this story really stayed with me. I have to say that it was really sweet for the most part and really low on drama and angst.

I loved all of these characters and can't wait to read more by this author, as this is my first book by her! :D

Some Sort Of Love me gusto.

3 Estrellas!

The storyline was a great idea, but unfortunately, there were several problems that made the book disappointing... There were too many sex scenes for the length of this book. They fell in love way too quickly. Every problem was solved in a way that was too rushed to be plausible. But more importantly, there wasn't enough of the fabulously adorable Scotty !!

Ok, it's not that it's bad or anything, but it was so, so boring!

I felt absolutely nothing while reading this book (boredom doesn't count, I guess). The characters were so, so flat and one dimensional! It felt like I was reading shampoo instructions or something.

I know that everyone loved this series and all but I just couldn't (and I tried, I really did!). The only person who actually made me curious was the kid (although I'm sorry to say, but even he had his meh moments).

By all accounts, this should have been such a great read. Hot, single, alpha dad with doctor chick, that sounded like fun. But... oh well.

I admit, maybe it was my fault, not the book's doing. It's impossible for everyone to love a book except me, right? Thousands of great ratings and so many wonderful reviews! It's probably me.

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this one. Not worth the hours spent reading it.

Set in one of my happy places, Traverse City MI. A lovely romance between professionally engaged grown ups with believable hurdles. And the male MC graduated from my alma mater! (Shout out to Kierstyn, we Spartys are well represented). I did this on audio, partially on the last leg of a nearly 2 day flight (well, a series.of flights) to Bangkok. The female narrator does not know how to pronounce Charlevoix, which was irritating, and honestly I did not love her narration overall but still fun. Let's call.it 3.5.

Yep, this book is still fantastic. I did a little read/listen combo and was happy with the narrators. They did a good job of bringing Levi and Jillian to life. But let's be honest, any time you can picture Franggy as your leading man, you're going to enjoy the story.

And trust me, Levi is a sexy single dad--one you want to go home with. You want to see how it goes, you want more, and you want it all. Because he's sweet and caring and he puts that little boy of his first and there is just something so unbelievably sexy about a man with a child.

Jillian is perfect for Levi and his son, Scotty. She's a pediatrician, she's kind and patient and loving. She's understanding. And she's gorgeous. And she just wants to find the man for her. How could she have predicted her Pine Sol from years past would come back to haunt her?!

You're going to like this book. You'll want to sit down and read it all at once because it's sexy and fun and sweet.

Okay, I'll admit it: I wanted to read this because of the sexy beast on the cover, but then again, who wouldn't? Franggy is magnificent and somehow he just made it into a book review. That man is perfect. Anyway, that is neither here nor there. Just know that I do judge books by their covers. Let it be known that this is a Fan-fucking-tastic cover.

Okay, so on to the book.

Jillian is the oldest Nixon sister and the last to find love.
Levi is a HBSDILTF. 'Nuff said. Don't know what that means? That's cool, I'll break it down for you: Hot Bearded Single/Super/Sexy/Spectacular Dad I'd Like To Fuck. You see how the 'S' could mean any number of words? Yeah, fill it in as you see fit.

Okay, so back to Jillian. She's a pediatrician, works long hours, lives alone, and listens to everyone criticize her because she hasn't met the one yet.

Levi is raising his 8 year old son by himself. His autistic son. He is also an architect and he has a beard. That's important because not only is it HAWT, but his son also likes it. That's important.

Levi and Jillian run into each other at Sebastian and Skylar's wedding. Literally. Jillian turns around and slams right into Levi. Awesomesauce!! They have met before! Sparks fly, texts happen, let the sexy time commence.

Okay, so it doesn't all happen on one night, but it does happen and it is sooo goood. I know because Jillian told me. She also told Skylar and Natalie. So, we all know and I'm not ruining anything for you.

In great effort to not spoiler the shit out of this review let's just say that some stuff happens. Levi pushes Jillian away and he pulls her back. Repeatedly. Or maybe just once. Either way, it happens and both are miserable without each other. Both realize that their feelings didn't just develop overnight. Both also admit to the amazing connection that they had 11--yes, 11--years prior to their encounter at the wedding. This relationship develops quickly, but it deals with some serious issues.

I appreciate the fact that Melanie Harlow tackles tough issues. Like she took on OCD and anxiety in Some Sort of Happy, she takes on autism in this book. She also takes on single parenting, being 30 and single, and navigating the difficulties of dating while raising a child alone.

5 Girl Friday stars

Melanie Harlow has perfected the art of prodding all emotions a reader could want to feel with this heart warming story in some sort of love.

Love isn't hearts and flowers in Levis life, it's being a single dad of a son with autism, it's picking youself up after no sleep and tears and tantrums.

Jillian at 30 is looking for love but can't seem to find it, she is very close with her sisters and has the love of her family but is constantly reminded her clock is ticking, so family gatherings are eventful until she meets Levi at her sister's wedding.

"So why aren't you married yet Jillian? that clock is ticking! Your not one of those lesbians are you?"

Levi was the fumble in the closet during high school that earned him the name pinesol with her sisters whenever they talked about it so literally bumping into him at the wedding was the start of a beautiful reunion.

There are humerous moments, serious moments as Levi struggles with the right balance of fatherhood and sharing his time with Jillian and there are scorching melt the bedknobs and broomsticks hot moments.

A beautiful feel good, romantic read with real life scenarios of family life a journey to forks in the road of decisions and learning to find the perfect balance.

Really enjoyable story !

This is very hard for me to rate this book but I am honest in every review I write so I’m going to let you know what I loved and what I disliked…
I enjoyed this book. I laughed, swooned and fell for the characters. I got all hot and bothered cause let me tell you something… Under this single dad persona hides a dirty lover!!!

Obviously, reading a book from this series is like meeting up with your friends. I love the Nixon sisters, how they are all supportive of each other. How they call Jillian out on her BS…

So when Jillian, last Nixon girl to be single, runs into her one night stand from her college years, what started as an innocent flirt turns into something more serious. But serious comes with real life problems, with responsibilities, and a past…
Levi, oh Levi I both loved and hated you! See Levi is a responsible dad, a hot as fuck lover and dirty talker. I loved seeing how he interacted with his son, his family. I liked that about him. How he took charge of his son’s education, not letting people decide for him.
What I didn’t like though was the “guilty” and “I don’t want you to meet my boy” phase that lasted too long. I could understand his reasoning but I didn’t agree with him. But well, I’m not in his shoes so I can’t tell what would be my reaction.

So if you’re a sucker for a sweet, hot and funny book you should read this one. But be warned there’s a LOT of sex in this book.
