It's the Christmas season and Lady Amelia St. Vincent, spinster sister of the Devil Duke of Enwright, finds herself in something of a quandary. While attending Lord Raynecourt's annual holiday house party she has been relentlessly pursued by a veritable army of men after her hand in marriage. Not to mention her obscenely sizeable dowry. She is at her wit's end when the dashing Lord Fitzherbert Frost, the current Earl of Houghton, appears as if by magic and comes to her rescue, saving her from yet another fortune hunter.
Now paired with Lord Frost during a rather absurd treasure hunt through the manor house, Amelia must decide if she is willing to trade one night in the earl's bed for a lifetime of ruination. Or whether the magical power of love can melt even the frostiest of hearts before it is too late.
This 36,300-word novella, which is a companion piece to the "Tales From Seldon Park" series, is written in the modern, Regency romance style for a slightly hotter and sexier read. It may not be appropriate for younger audiences.

This was a spin-off story from another series, but it worked well as a standalone. I loved the setting of a Christmas house party, a cunning hostess, and a pair of lovers who didn't imagine love would ever find them. The treasure hunt game was a fun ploy. Mellie and Fitz tend to be the sorts who wallow a bit particularly in their self-esteem, but they were also sweet and passionate and I didn't mind spending time with them. I'd love to read a book about her brother, but for something fast and first time to explore the author, this did well.
I found this a good book. Mellie is a wallflower and a duke's daughter with a large dowry. Fits rescues her from an unscrupulous baron who tries to force her hand in marriage. Can they find true love.
Firstly, it wasn't explained how did Lady Raynecourt know about Amelia's childhood and the teddy bear.
Secondly, I was given the impression that Fitz was tired (maybe even annoyed) that women only desire his body, title and wealth. Then why did he let Amelia use his body? Isn't it contradicting?
Lastly, I don't think that any man will tell his sister about his sexcapades. Especially in the 1800s when women were judged to be delicate creatures and things like coition is an improper discussion with the fairer sex even if it was with a sister.
Such a quick and easy read. I really enjoyed it. There are a few spelling mistakes and can be quite repetitive, such as "I will only marry for love" or "I don't think I can love" are said or thought quite a lot. However this can easily be ignored as it flowed well. I loved the characters. The Countess was excellent, her plan bringing the two main characters together through a treasure hunt. The two main characters, Fitz and Mellie, were well developed and well matched. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Lady Amelia is used to being pursued for her diary! Left alone at a house party she encounters Lord Fitz. He rescues her from an old Lord who wants to compromise her for her dowry! Fitz is shy and bookish but will not ignore a lady in distress! Let the games umm house party begin!
All three and I love them all like I said you have been bless with the gift of writing and I look forward to reading your books so I am headed to your library to find another goodie. DH from New York City
Two people who thought they ,could never have love is given the best gift of it. This is a wonderful story,, about christmas, fun and finding one's self and getting what we want.
Perfect house party story. Sister of the Devil Duke and borderline wallflower is left to fend for herself when her brother leaves... and thanks to the stereotypical conniving hostess, finds herself interested in a new Earl, including paired in a complex scavenger hunt which leads to all kinds of adventures and an HEA. Clearly a side story in a larger universe, but very readable as a standalone.
This was an inspiring Christmas story of a Lord and a Lady, both past the first flush of youth, who have grown skeptical about the existence of love. Their defenses crumble during the Christmas House Party of an eccentric hostess.
Short, sweet & fun. Sweet romance about two older people from London's High Society that Lady Raynecourt thought were perfect for each other. Love the matchmaking!
Easy reading. Can't wait to read the next one. I'm reading the book during the holiday week and have had trouble finding a romantic book to keep my interest
Sweet and romantic. Finally, a romance about two intelligent and smart people who find love... So there's hope for all book lovers to find true love...
I do love holiday stories which is funny cause I don’t like the holidays. This book was not really for me but it wasn’t a bad book and I’m sure others would enjoy it.
Fitz and Mellie, two such unlikely personalities but they complement each other well. Fitz felt a stirring for Mellie but on the bases of whom her brother is he decided to ignore it and instead enjoy the time spent with her as a way of learning how to interact with the opposite sex. This is a truly quick, witty and sweet story, unbeknown to both parties they were being set up to spend s much time with each other to allow love to bloom.
This is the basic cookie cutter romance. You know going into it Millie and Fitz are going to fall in love. The difference is how it happens. The use of a treasure hunt set this apart from others. But I felt that there was too much inner dialogue. I usually don’t mind getting into the head of the main characters. But this was overdone and repetitive. So, I gave it an average rating for an average book.
This was oh so lovely. You really couldn't call Fitz a downright rogue, he was too kind, charming, polite, but he knew what he wanted - and he wanted Amelia (Mellie). I loved the characters in this story, including matchmaker, Lady Raynecourt. I like this author's writing, how she deals with details, which makes for an interesting read and makes the story somehow complete. Enjoyable! 4****
This is a story about two people who think love may have missed their chance at love. Both are intelligent and quiet by nature. They meet during a Christmas house party and are drawn to each other. Luckily for them the house party allows them time together to get to know each other quickly. I enjoyed this story...it is more than a bit spicy.
Putting a guard on his heart against love. Fritz said he was never gonna in love again after Roslyn. Until he met Millie, he didnt realize that the moment he saw her, he was in love.
