Author and psychologist Ruth Cherry has written an honest, heartfelt account of living with chronic illness and her ongoing journey toward spiritual fulfillment.

During the first part of the book, Ruth shares her deeply personal story through her journal entries, as she learns to move from constant critical self talk to unconditional acceptance of herself and others.

In the second section Dr Cherry reveals psychological practices that allow us to embrace our vulnerability and take responsibility for our own mental and emotional well being.

The third part of the book is devoted to "Practicing Vibrational Alignment" through meditation, forgiveness, and embracing our true selves.

This volume is filled with psychological and spiritual wisdom to stimulate our minds and nurture our souls.

i was surprised with how much I liked reading this book. I admit I’m not normally one for the spiritual-type books, and consider myself more of a ‘rational, logical’ thinker than an emotional one, so I wasn’t really sure this would be my thing. But from the opening pages (after the impressive Forward) Ruth Cherry invites us into her life in a way that demands our attention and respect, and I admire not only her strength and fortitude, but her remarkable ability to take a bad situation (her health- physical and emotional) and turn it around in a way that encourages others to want to be better too… and know that they can be! Even if you don’t agree with the philosophy of meditation for your own religious ideas, it is hard to deny that this is a well-written book that succinctly lays out the principles in a cohesive and entertaining manner, as well as offers support and insight to better spiritual awareness. Recommended for teens on up.

to be perfectly honest, the title alone grabbed me. Not sure what it meant (before reading the book, but now I do!) but it sounded like something was good… I applaud Dr. Cherry’s efforts at gracefully and coherently breaking down the problems we face in terms that are easy enough to understand without “dumbing it down”, but realizing that the problems are complex and not quickly and easily turned around. However, she has some brilliant ideas that I personally can’t wait to put into use. In theory many of the concepts presented in this book seem like they could indeed be a positive force that may help us, and for less than the price of going to see a psychologist. You feel like you get all the nurturing guidance but without the hefty bill! Definitely recommend.

For a self-help book, this one is definitely above average on the "uplifting" scale. Dr. Cherry bares her innermost thoughts in the first part of the book, giving a glimpse into the uplifting power of faith. However, the terminology seemed slightly more advanced than I was prepared for. There were several references to the Controller and the Critic without much introduction to what that referred to, or what it means. It's fairly easy to understand the gist of the references using context clues, but it would have been nice to have been given a short course on these terms beforehand.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

The insights Ruth Cherry shares with us are profound and important. Through her personal journaling to deal with her chronic and serious medical challenges, her insights into psychological and spiritual methods for her personal growth, plus her valuable information on the many benefits of meditation and methods to achieve these benefits, Ruth's words are clear, easy to read and comprehend. This is a book that I will refer to again again, anytime I feel the need for clarity in my life. THANK YOU, RUTH, FOR YOUR GIFT FROM THE HEART.
