A need has often been expressed for a study on baptism which would deal with every reference to the subject in the Bible. Charles Baker, through this book, enables the average Christian to study with understanding and to come to their own conclusions on this subject which has been so highly controversial and divisive within the professing church.
From the back cover: "The author writes from an evangelical, conservative and dispensational point of view. He is committed unreservedly to the divine inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures." With that said, his writing is approachable and clearly outlined. I often asked myself, "why is this doctrine so seemingly difficult?" I find it interesting that most of the Christian-based religions practice ceremonial baptism in one form or another. I also asked myself, "if God met me face-to-face and asked me what I believed about baptism, what would I say? Could I defend my belief?" This book will be a major rupture for most Christians, but it is worth reading and studying.
