He had wanted to take Maddy Morgan on a date since he was in eighth grade. She’d always been out of his league and off the market.
But not anymore.

I LOVED this book!!! It was such a sweet and romantic read.

I always love heroes who have been playboys either because they haven’t met the right woman or because the right woman have been out of their reach like in this book.

I just loved Ronan and the fact that he has always had a crush on Maddy, but she was the one woman who never gave him the time of day. For years he has believed that he would never have a chance with her, but then a terrible loss changes everything. And suddenly she’s free and living in his city. And he’s determined to show her how to live again, preferable with him at her side.

She wanted him. But she didn’t want to want him.

Maddy has just been trying to survive after the loss she experienced, but not really living until sexy Ronan decides to force her to live again, and to confront the feelings between them.

The romance was incredibly sweet and sexy and just wonderful. I loved how Ronan pursued Maddy, how there was no one else for him since she moved to his city, how he never gave up on her, knowing that they were meant to be. And that cover ….. I might have licked it a lot few times ;-)

And I just loved Ronan’s K-9 bloodhound dog, who was adorable! And the bond they shared was amazing!! The plot was excellent, and I loved the intrigue and trying to find out who the killer is. I also love Ronan’s family, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the McGuire brothers’ books!!

I love this author’s writing and once again she has written a fantastic romance that I enjoyed immensely. Highly recommended.

This was a super fun, easy read and I totally enjoyed it. It's pretty fast paced with likable characters. It was really entertaining and sweet and had a nice element of suspense mixed in. Really great read!

I liked Maddy and Ronan a lot. I liked their connection and flirting. Maddy was struggling with moving forward in her life after a major loss and I loved Ronan's persistence of trying to get her out of her shell. It made for some playful, flirty moments and a few emotional ones too. I found it to have a slow burn but I really liked their building relationship. I liked Ronan's dog Bowser as well. That was a cute element since they're partners in the K9 unit.

There's a nice element of intrigue mixed in but it's just a small part. It definitely made for an action packed ending! The story is definitely about Maddy and Ronan coming together, I was caught up in their romance. There is a bit of mild drama as well but nothing to taxing, just enough to keep you on your toes.

The writing is really good and the progression was great throughout. Not super in depth but enough details to keep me interested and keep everything moving along nicely. It was a pretty easy read and a bit predictable sometimes but I found it really entertaining and enjoyable. I chuckled my way through a lot of scenes and got a bit teary eyed during some of the more emotional parts.

All in all this was a great read full of heart! Maddy and Ronan were awesome!

Maddy Morgan has left her hometown for Manhattan. Not for the city life, not for the glamour of her high paying job, but to hide from the pain after her boyfriend of 10 years passed away. New York gives her anonymity. No one knows about her pain so there's no one to remind her of it. Except for Ronan McGuire. She's known Ronan since her school days. He's the brother of her best friend's fiancé and he's with the NYPD canine unit. And, though Maddy doesn't know it, he's had a thing for her since high school. Ronan wants to see the happy carefree Maddy he remembers. Not the guarded woman she is now. He's determined to bring the old Maddy back. But just when things are looking up, Maddy disappears. Can Ronan and his canine partner save her?
I love reading new authors to me. Especially when it's an amazing author that I plan to read more of! What a fantastic story! Ronan was the ideal man- hardworking, family oriented, funny, thoughtful, and oh so sexy. Maddy was a strong, independent woman trying to heal. They were the perfect match for one another. This story is fabulous. It's filled with real, likeable characters. The romance is off the charts and the suspense had me biting my nails till the very end. I can't wait to go back and read the 1st book in the series. I look forward to reading what's in store for the rest of the McGuire brothers. A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection

Wow, I just downloaded this book not realizing I had already read it. I can't remember much of anything about it, though. I must have liked it when I read it a few weeks ago, but it didn't leave any kind of lasting impression...

Cute book. Well written; sweetly romantic with a smattering of suspense thrown in to fill out the basic romance storyline. I wish there had been more on the murders and more Bowser. Anyway, I'd read another; I guess next is brother Tristan.

I have read Ms. Humphreys's paranormal romances and enjoyed them but this is my first contemporary romance from her and I loved, loved, loved everything about it! The characters, the settings, the romance, all of it. TROUBLE WALKS IN is a really sexy, sweet and fun friends-to-lovers story and had me giggling like a schoolgirl with pleasure.

It's like the author went through a checklist and made sure to include everything readers would love - humor, family, lots of chemistry, witty banter and some suspense to spice it up. I especially enjoyed the steady pace of the story. Every page and every scene just added to the build-up to the climax and this is one of my favorite books this year as well as my favorite of all the author's books I've read so far.

Morgan traded her hometown for the anonymity of New York after the death of her long-time boyfriend and has channeled all her energy into becoming a successful realtor, but Officer Ronan McGuire is the one piece of her past that she can't avoid in the city and she really doesn't mind because of the friendship that developed between them. Ronan however is not interested in just friendship. He's had his eye on Maddy for a long time and just has to figure out how he can get Maddy to see him as more than a friend.

Maddy and Ronan had really great chemistry and their banter kept me smiling all the way to the end. I've got to say that Ronan has serious game. He's attractive, smart, very caring and single-minded in his pursuit of Maddy. He handled Maddy and her reservations very patiently but he was not taking no for an answer after wanting her for so long.

Maddy is spirited and has a mile long independent streak that was sometimes frankly annoying, but I love that she was no pushover and took her time deciding to get involved with Ronan.

Family is at the heart of this story and the McGuire family was so adorable. I loved how they welcomed Maddy into their fold with open arms and happy hearts. Even Ronan's K-9 partner Bowser was an endearing part of the story.

I can't stop gushing about how much I enjoyed this book. It's a must read and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I finally read a Sara Humphreys!!! I've been having a lust-fest over her covers for ages and damn! I'm real sad I haven't managed to read any of them before now. Trouble Walks In was fantastic!

The quick of it is that female realtors are being targeted and it's got Ronan all in a dither because his childhood crush and current friend just so happens to be one of the top agents in the city. Thankfully an out of town wedding provides the perfect excuse to get her safe and hopefully spark up something more than just friendship between them. Win-win as far as he's concerned...

Ronan. Ronan. Ronan. I would totally lick me some Ronan. He's sexy, playful, a bit cocky, totally sweet. His best friend is the cutest bloodhound who is his K9 partner. He's just a good guy that makes it impossible not to love him. Yeah. I was loving me some Ronan.

And Maddy was a great heroine as well. Fiery, a little stubborn, confident in her abilities at work but struggling a little on the personal front. She's got a lot of sadness in her after losing a long time companion but I liked seeing her slowly get her fun back and start living again.

I loved them together. Swoony and steamy in all the right places. He'd been smitten with her since they were kids and now that she's living in his city they've become friends and running partners. Their friendship slipping into naughty/flirty territory was fun to watch though somewhat slow going.

There's a little suspense that's more of a background thread since they aren't directly involved with the case of the realtors being attacked. It's not his case and while she knew the victims they weren't close friends. It added a nice bit of potential danger and frustration in the background.

All in all, Trouble Walks In was a damn good time. This was a decent sized book and I flew through the thing. 300+ pages in less than a day. I kept sneaking in to read another chapter. And then another chapter. lol Humphreys has some serious skills that pulled me into the story and held me captive.Nicely done! Sexy smart characters, cute dogs, a little suspense and a lot of delicious tension? Yep. This one was a winner. Next, please!

I enjoyed this book. I liked the slightly different take on the police officer hero, the idea that he was a cop…but not a detective, a beat K-9 officer. This made it feel different, but at the same time the accessible police officer story I was looking to enjoy. The addition of Bowser was fun, and as an animal lover, I liked that the 3rd main character in the book was a dog. I liked that Maddy was accepting of this, and that it was never an issue in their relationship, she accepted him and all of his family, including the 4 legged ones.

Ronan was wonderful. Sexy, attractive, nice, good with animals. The perfect man, which is always a plus when that man also happens to be a hero in a romance novel. Maddy was feisty and an interesting heroine overall. However, she was a little indecisive when it came to starting a relationship with Ronan and this started to annoy me, her character seemed a little unbalanced, one minute not ready to pursue anything beyond friendship with Ronan while at the same time, ready and willing. At least, this is how she appeared to me. Oddly, it didn’t bother me as much at the beginning…but once you found out a little about her past relationship and how she felt about Richard her hesitation to become involved with Ronan felt forced.

This uneven characterization of Maddy made it difficult to fully invest in their story (were it not for this, it would have been a 5 star read) however it was still highly enjoyable with excellent chemistry and wonderful secondary characters. I thought the identity of the perpetrator was a little obvious. That said, I don’t think the point of the story was a strong, well-crafted mystery, so this didn’t detract from the impact of the suspense story line or the ultimate resolution.

While this is the 2nd in a series, it can be read as a standalone. I do recommend the other book in the series as well as this one.

After reading the first book in The McGuire Brothers series I knew I had to read this as well. Sarah Humphreys’ books are fun and entreating. They are really the perfect way to spend a hot summer day!

Maddy’s boyfriend of ten years was a firefighter and he died on the job. So she leaves and moves to NYC to escape her grief. Ronan McGuire also lives in NYC and is a K-9 cop. They grew up together and Ronan has always had feelings for her…

Now that her grieving is over Maddy is starting to see Ronan with new eyes. Life keep throwing them together so they are able to spend time together and to really get to know who they are now. But Ronan has a dangerous job. Does Maddy want to give her heart to another man who might die while serving his community?

I normally don’t read romantic suspense but this story worked so well. There was enough of both to keep me from putting it down.

I am way too emotional right know to write much. Overwhelming, haunting and hot, hot, hot.

I don´t know how she does it, but with this book the author proofed again that she knows how to keep a reader have his nose stuck in a book.

Trouble Walks In is not only the perfect contemporary novel, but the perfect fit for a cozy afternoon with the warmth of a burning chimney fire.

 :
Successful in being a real estate person Maddy is used to work long hours and to have almost no free time. Why bother going out when she is not interested in any man at all? And besides, it´s barely twelve months that her boyfriend died and that doesn´t seem long enough to start over again - At least not with another man. But Ronan thinks otherwise and he is no longer willing to give her the time or space to bury herself in her self-chosen solitude.

 :
This novel is written in the personal perspective of Maddy and Ronan. From the very beginning the reader knows exactly what Ronan wants and to watch him together with Maddy is somehow emotional and haunting. The dark part of this novel is given to a figure you start to think about after a few very awkward scenes and in the end I was very pleased to see that I was right.

The author writes clear, her style is modern and she gets to the point. The tension starts to build with every page you turn and with that I don´t only mean the tension who the killer is. Oh yes, there is a lot going on between the pages and you won´t miss a single line of it – believe me.

But the tone is a bit different. There is a lot of dark in here, sadness and Maddy seems to be lifeless. She is working yes, talks with people, but she doesn´t show any sign of being really there.

 :
Sara Humphreys creates figures with charm, humor and some kind of dark in them as well. All of them have - at some point during their life - experienced something bad or at least something that hurt them deeply.

Maddy hides from life, from herself and from others. Her work is everything and her apartment shows exactly how she feels inside: lonely. She spend many years with a man she thought she loved and when she discovers what real love means and how it feels, she is frightened and confused. She cuts herself from everything that means home, warmth and being one of them. At some point I pitied her, at some, I got angry with her.

Ronan grew up as one of the McGuire´s but his family being rich doesn´t mean he is too. Used to the fact that women can´t resist him, Maddy is a refreshing exception in her behavior towards him. He knows how to read signs, not matter what kind, and he is determined to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. But not at all costs.

 :
I feel touched, deeply moved and had to take a deep breath after I put it down. This was a moving novel and an absolutely great sequel to the first book. Though you can read this easy as a standalone I would advise you to read this series chronological. Highly recommended.

Trouble Walks In is the Second book in the McGuire Brothers series that is the newest series by Humphreys. I adored the first book “Brave The Heat” so I was pretty excited when I saw this book in the Romance Package. One of the things that I loved about this series so far is the family of brothers here in the series, they are so fun and close knit. Trouble Walks In features a hero who is a K-9 Police Officer and a heroine who is a Real Estate Agent. Trouble Walks In, is a story that has multiple settings and tropes which is fun. Its not a blow your mind read, but its a book that is endearing and so charming.

It begins with being taken to New York City, where Ronan and Maddy are friends. There has been some high sexual tension between them, but Ronan knows about Maddy’s past and even though there is a part of him that has always loved Maddy, he knows she is still grieving her late boyfriend of ten years. Maddy is trying to live her life again, although she is shielding herself from the past by keeping busy at work and not letting herself be distracted. While out on a run with Ronan, they stumble across a woman who has been murdered and the woman has a connection to Maddy. When a series of murders start to occur, Ronan is concerned because they tend to connect to Maddy’s work. But Maddy isn’t that concerned about it, sparks fly though when they go home for the Christmas Holiday and discover that there is more to their relationship than mere friendship.

I found Trouble Walks In to be a very interesting read, I will admit I didn’t find it quite as engaging as I did book one but that could have been the narrator more than anything else. I did love this pairing in some ways. I love it when the hero is a police officer, and we see how comitted he is to his career and his K-9 canine who is simply adorable and I am NOT a dog person but I loved this side character and he just wins your heart.

I found the sub plot of the serial murders to be quite interesting, and what I liked about it was that it doesn’t overwhelm the romance at all, it tends to flow pretty smoothly within the story. And this is what I love about this author, is how capable she is of writing a solid romance and including a supportive plot that doesn’t overcome the other elements involved.

The romance that is developed in this book is exactly what I was looking for. Its a sweet one, which implements friends to lovers/unrequited love/second chance tropes. I realy enjoyed the way these tropes were placed in the story and yes I love a hero that goes after his girl so enduringly and never gives up on his love for her. The hero is such a good man though, he is great with his family and he loves helping people. The heroine loves her career and finding the perfect home for her clients, she is driven and kindhearted but she is hiding from herself and I felt blinded by her grief and the hero helps her face up to what she has been doing to herself and aids her in getting out of her comfort zone and really live life instead of just going through the motions.

Overall I found Trouble Walks In, which is a romance that is a charming second chance which turned out to be a tale about self growth, endearingly romantic and give you a few surprises along the way.

Trouble Walks In
Sara Humphreys
Someone is killing high end realtors.
Ronan McGuire and his bloodhound Bowser are members of the NYPD’s K-9 unit. It is their job to find the missing. Ronan loves his job and his dog.
Maddy Morgan is a high end real estate broker who moved to Manhattan to forget the tragic death of Rick, a fireman and her boyfriend for a decade.
Ronan has had a “thing” for Maddy since elementary school when she punched a bully in the face for harassing her. Unfortunately for Ronan, it was never the right time to ask her out. Now Maddy lives in the same city he does, but she was still grieving for Rick. The best he could do was just be a friend, this included jogging in Central Park and going for coffee, no dates. Maddy is going to be the maid of honor at her best friend Jordan’s wedding to Ronan’s brother Gavin, while he will be the best man and agree to be each other’s date. They are soon thrown together because someone is killing high end realtors in the city. Ronan is concerned for Maddy’s safety and soon they begin to spend more time together. As a result, they begin to develop stronger feelings for each other. Unfortunately for Ronan, Maddy feels guilty about her feelings for him, feels that she is betraying Rick’s memory. Ronan asks his brother and future sister in law for advice. They tell him to take is slow and that if he does, Maddy should eventually come around. Soon they begin to date. Maddy is happy, but the murders continue. They return for the wedding and realize their feeling for each other. Maddy spends Christmas with the McGuires and realizes this is what she wants, a family and all the love that comes with it. She returns to Manhattan because she is hosting a New Years Eve party for her clients and asks Ronan to attend. He is antsy because he intends to ask her to marry him that night. They end up having an argument and Ronan leaves. After the guests all leave, Maddy lays down. Someone enters her apartment. She thinks it is Ronan, unfortunately, it is the killer who has been murdering the female realtors and he takes Maddy next. The clock is now ticking for Ronan and Bowser to find Maddy before it is too late.
Once again, Sara Humphreys has written a story that pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the end. Throughout this story we see Maddy coping with her isolation after Rick’s death to realizing how empty her life really will be if she doesn’t give Ronan a chance. Ronan, the ladies’ man, must figure out a way to change his approach with Maddy by using patience and not pressure to get her to date him. Maddy soon works through her fear and realizes that she is in love with Ronan and takes a chance. Ronan realizes that it is Maddy he wants forever. We also get a glimpse in the relationship between dog and man as Ronan searches for the killer. I love this series about the McGuire brothers. We see how family plays an important role in each story. There is suspense, and a second chance at love for Ronan and Maddy. I look forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book.

Maddy Morgan lost the love of her life eighteen months ago, and since then she has struggled to find a way to move on without him, and with the constant reminders of him everywhere she turns she makes the decision to leave her hometown for Manhattan. Knowing the city will give her the escape she needs, no one will know her past, and she can just blend in and exist in a world she is struggling to find her way in again. What she doesn't count on is running into an old friend from high school, there was always an interest there for her with him, but she ultimately chose a different path... this time though her only intention with him is friendship, now she just has to find a way to keep it that way!

Ronan McGuire has always been good with the ladies, never having a problem luring one into his bed for a little no strings attached fun here and there. He has no intention of tying himself down anytime soon, he enjoys his life the way that it is, but when he unexpectedly runs into "the one that got away" he starts to sing a different tune. Having an opportunity to possibly win her heart back changes everything for him, but this time he knows he needs to approach her with caution as she is battling some demons of her own, so he offers her the one thing she needs the most right now...friendship. Now he just has to figure out how to convince her that they deserve a shot at something more.

This was my first time reading a book by Ms. Humphrey's, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with it, it kept me on my toes the whole way through. I definitely foresee myself reading more from her in the very near future!! This suspenseful and sexy little tale had everything you could want in a story; thrilling mystery, addictive story line, dynamic characters with explosive chemistry, and some toe curling romance too!! Turned out to be a impressive first read for me, and one I highly recommend you give a try!

A romantic suspence novel that will knock your socks off.
Ronan is an amazing cop with a bit of a reputation. But he is still amazing, especially when he is with his family. Ronan has been working with the K-9 unit for a few years and as a result he feels fulfilled. But before he went home for the summer he had a new women every Saturday night. Now all he thinks about is Maddy. But is his infatuation still taking place at the wrong time like it did all those years ago when they were still in highschool?
Maddy lost the man she has been with for the past decade a year ago, as a result she is a shell of the women she once was. Now that she has been hanging out with Ronan and is finally starting to feel happy once again, will she be able to move past her old hurts about her recently lost flame?
When a serial killer enters the picture and starts to kill women in Maddys field of work will Ronan be able to keep her safe enough to persue their hopeful relationship.
This was a great read, with amazing characters, and a great plot. You will not want to miss this book by Ms Humphrey.

I've loved this author for awhile now. I have read all her paranormal work but this is the first contemporary from her for me. I didn't realize is was a 2nd book but it can totally be read as a stand alone.

I liked how Ronan and Maddy go from friends to lovers. They have known each other their whole lives yet not been together. Tragedy allows Ronan to make his move but Maddy may still not be ready.

The McGuire family was absolutely wonderful. I look forward to reading more about them. The book has a suspense element that tied in nicely to the plot and didn't overwhelm the HEA story line. Of course Bowser is one of the best secondary characters in the book. Wouldn't have been the same without him!

Great writing. Great read. Look forward to more from this author.

Pleasant, if not overly unique. I want to like it more. I like Maddy from the first book and want her to have a well deserved HEA. I think Ronan has great potential, but I just didn't feel the chemistry. For me, there are also a few unresolved issues, albeit minor, I wanted to see addressed.

After the death of her longtime boyfriend, Maddy Morgan moves to New York City. Immersing herself in work, Maddy quickly becomes an in demand real estate agent. Her work keeps her pretty busy but she still manages to find time for her friend, Ronan McGuire, who she grew up with. Ronan is now a K-9 officer with the NYPD and vows to keep an eye on Maddy, especially after several real estate agents have been found dead. As Maddy and Ronan socialize more, it becomes obvious to them both that there is a whole lot more to their friendship. Maddy is hesitant to commit to anything with Ronan after how her last relationship ended. Can he make her see how good they can be together?
As soon as I finished the first book in this series, I knew this was a going to be a series that I wanted to keep reading. Just as with the first book, Humphreys has created two characters that you become emotionally invested in as they navigate towards their HEA.
We got to see a little bit of Maddy in the first book and now she is dealing with the aftermath of Rick’s death. Maddy doesn’t want to feel anything so she becomes a workaholic, which is great for her bank account but not so much for her emotional state. Maddy keeps telling herself that this is what she wants even as her heart is screaming that she wants more.
It’s hinted in the book that Ronan was a bit of a player until he decided that he wanted Maddy. While this could have been a stereotypical plot, there is a lot more on the line than usual. First, Ronan wants to respect Rick’s memory and second he doesn’t want to ruin his friendship with Maddy. Once he falls though, he falls hard and brings Maddy kicking and screaming until she realizes that Ronan is the guy for her.
Another aspect of this book that I loved was that Ronan was a K-9 officer, which isn’t something often featured in romances. His reason for becoming one will have you tearing up. His partner, Bowser, a bloodhound, is quite the character and pretty much steals any scene that he is in.
Trouble Walks In is the second book in the McGuire Brothers series. Humphreys once again delivers a well written romance with a nice suspense plot thrown in as a bonus. Readers who enjoy contemporary romance or romantic suspense should give this book a read.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I picked up Trouble Walks In because of the man-candy on that cover. I can be impulsive like that and a lot of times that can backfire, but not this time around. I found this book to be very reminiscent of one of my favorite books by Lauren Layne, with the NYC setting and Ronan being a cop. It was a sweet and romantic read.

I don't know what it is about cops in book, but I find them very attractive. And Ronan was the whole package. He was devoted to his work, hardworking and very passionate. Not to mention he had a bloodhound as a partner whom he loved with every fiber of his being. He was a really sweet and sexy guy, the kind of guy I love reading about in romance novels. Maddy, the heroine, was a fantastic heroine as well. She had just moved to New York to get away from the grief of having lost her long-time boyfriend in a fire. She, like Ronan, was hardworking and very passionate about her job as a real estate agent. She was very lonely however and even though she was fiercely attracted to Ronan and his thoughtfulness, she was hesitant to give away her heart a second time.

The chemistry between the two was strong throughout the book and I loved the scenes of them talking to each other even more. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other and connect on an emotional level. They fit so well together and definitely the kind of couple you know will stay with each other forever. I also really liked Ronan's big family. They were very welcoming of Maddy and I loved how much they cared for her. Ronan's brothers, especially, were a riot and made me laugh with their bromance. And then there's Maddy's awesome best friend who was supportive and kind and just the perfect girl someone needs as a BFF. Trouble Walks In wasn't all romance! It also had a mystery storyline throughout with acquaintances of Maddy being killed around NYC. It was predictable, but the author knew how to keep the mystery suspensful and engaging. Just don't go into the book expecting a twisty suspense book though because this is primarily a romance.

Trouble Walks In was a quick and addicting read. This was my first book by Sara Humphreys, but I will most definitely be coming back for more. I like her writing and her characters a lot!

A riveting thrill to kickoff a brand new series with author, Sara Humphrey's, "The McGuire Brothers," that arrived at the right time for me as a reader. I will admit that a few months ago I stopped reading this author due to her many paranormal-romances that in my opinion the stories began to repeat themselves. So I took a break and then I got back into reading the author with this new series. I am so happy that I did I might add.

From start to finish this novel had everything that I wanted from suspense that was heart-racing to a mystery that was entertaining and very easy to follow. I much preferred this series to the author's paranormal reads.

My only flaw with the novel is that the book was more of a mystery than a romance. I like a more balance between the duo. The heated, sensual scenes were present, but I felt like the romance or at least the die-to-safe-the-heroine aspect was missing. This alone was not enough to ruin the novel for me because everything just fell into place and the final product was a series I am instantly hooked on!

If it is not obvious I would recommend the novel. Give it a read!!

This book is the second in the series and the first one was gutting the second one had helped heal my soul some what.I love how Ronan has decided to not only not give up on an old flame but be adult and love her and help her move past the tragedy of her boy friends death and just live life to the fullest. I like Maddy I have from the start my heart went out to her when she lost her boyfriend and while trying to move on. Sara Humphreys wrote a fun twist with this one so the mystery in the air so to speak. You can not go wrong with this book or any of them really they are awesome!

Ronan is quite the cocky man, “did Santa bring you what you wanted?” he teased. “Great sex with one of the NYPD’s finest.” Sometimes it's not the people that make the story but the animals, "she giggled when Bowser belched loudly after finishing his food. “Nice, buddy,” Ronan said through a laugh. “See? You’re spoiling him . If you keep it up, he’s gonna weigh three hundred pounds.” I liked this book, and although I loved Ronan I loved his dog more.

OMG!!! Just finished this. I LOVE IT!!! Can't wait to read the next book about the McGuire brothers. Totally shocked when the bad guy was revealed. I thought it was someone else. Also thinking that a huge hint was dropped about Ronan and Maddy's future.

Sara is one of my many "go to" authors and she NEVER disappoints me.

This is the second audio book that I ever listened to and yes, I listened (I mean read? or uh listened) this book right after the first one. The thing that I loved most about this book was the K9 doggo!! I love policeman and K9 partnerships! I was happy that some of the characters from the first book came back in this book. I know I rated this book the same as the first book in the series, but this book was slightly better than the first book! I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one as they mention a few events that happened before.

I really loved this book - and the series!

Maddy left her hometown to disappear in NYC after Rick's death. Ronan is a NYPD K9 cop, and has had feelings for Maddy as long as he can remember.

Both characters where written incredibly well. I was cheering for them, if two people deserve love it is them.

But my favorite parts of the book - Bowser - what a personality.

I borrowed this and book 1 from the library with my Overdrive app - but I might buy these two for my Kindle.

I really want book 3, I hope it releases soon

You are pulled in by the story line from the start. Strong characters, with tragedy to deal with but it is family and friends who help you through it all.

A captivating second-chance-at-love story featuring a swoon-worthy K-9 cop!

“Once we (McGuires) set our sights on something we want," Ronan rasped, "we don't quit until we get it." She wasn't sure if he bent to her or she reached for him, but the end result was explosive. Ronan's mouth covered hers, and with a strangled groan, she opened to him immediately. His tongue sought entrance and lashed along hers with swift, furious strokes. Maddy's arms tightened around his neck as she met his greedy kiss with one of her own. Devoured - that's how she felt - and she couldn't get enough.”

TROUBLE WALKS IN by Sara Humphreys is the captivating second-chance-at-love story of one of New York City's finest, K-9 officer Ronan McGuire, and real estate professional Maddy Morgan. In 2015, when I reviewed the first book in this series, BRAVE THE HEAT, I had written:."I look forward to reading the stories of the other McGuire brothers. I personally hope that K-9 cop Ronan's is next and I hope his special someone is Jordan's friend, Maddy, who deserves a happy ever after of her own. A bonus is that readers would be treated to Bowser's story along the way. Bowser is Ronan's hairy bloodhound canine partner." WooHoo! My wishes were granted in full AND the result is fantastic!

This story is set in both New York City and in the small town of Old Brookfield, an idyllic New England hamlet. There's an overriding element of suspense and danger in New York City as a deranged killer is targeting female real estate professionals. Ronan worries that Maddy could be next.

Maddy is still reeling after having tragically lost her firefighting boyfriend of ten years. Unable to cope with living in Brookfield where everything reminded her of her loss, Maddy has pulled up roots and moved to New York City where she has established herself as a successful high-end real estate professional - not an easy task. She has no life away from work and lives in a plain-vanilla world. Enter "Make-Out McGuire" Ronan. Ronan and Maddy go way back...

As the story opens, Ronan and Bowser are on a time-critical search and rescue to find a little boy who has wandered off from his family. He and Bowser have great camaraderie and are a team both at work and away from work. Ronan has alwasy been a heart-throb with his pick of girls, but Maddy is the one he has wanted since high school. Unfortunately, she has never wanted to have anything to do with him. He knows that pushing Maddy too much could lose her forever. For the first time in his life, Ronan wants to be more than a friend with benefits. He wants it all with Maddy.

TROUBLE WALKS IN is the second installment in Sara's The McGuire Brothers series, but it can be fully enjoyed as a stand-alone if that is your preference. There are interconnected characters and, if you haven't read the first book, you will miss the joy of catching up with Jordan and Gavin. IF you have the time, I would recommend that the series be read in order just so you don't miss out on any of the sexy fun and games!

I can't wait to see which McGuire brother will get their story told next! Tristan McGuire seems to be baiting to be next with his "what I don't get is the idea of settling down with one person forever" talk. Sounds like he needs a bit of a comeuppance, don't you think? One thing for sure, Sara Humphreys can sure turn the tables on these guys! With perilous scenes that will have you holding your breath and gripping your chair and a hot romance that will leave you swooning, this series has the best of both worlds! I highly recommend TROUBLE WALKS IN to anyone who enjoys steamy and lively romantic suspense!

•••••••••••••••

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--TROUBLE WALKS IN is the second installment in Sara Humphreys’s contemporary, adult THE MCGUIRE BROTHERS romance series. This is K-9 unit police officer Ronan McGuire, and real estate agent Maddy Morgan’s story line TROUBLE WALKS IN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary although for backstory I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ronan and Maddy) TROUBLE WALKS IN is a friends to lovers trope that focuses on the building relationship between real estate agent Maddy Morgan, and police officer Ronan McGuire. One year earlier Maddy’s long-time boyfriend Rick was killed on the job (Brave the Heat), so our heroine took off for New York hoping to leave the memories and grief behind only to find herself getting reacquainted with Ronan McGuire-a friend from back home and a man who has loved Maddy from afar. What ensues is the slow build of a relationship between friends, and the investigation into a serial killer targeting high-end real estate agents.

For months the relationship between Maddy and Ronan has never gone beyond their weekly run and coffee but Ronan wants something more with Maddy as he has pined after our heroine for a number of years. Maddy believes to enter into a romantic relationship is a slap in the face to Rick, and isn’t willing to cross the ‘invisible’ line from friendship to love. As the holidays approach, Ronan convinces Maddy that to spend time alone is tragic, and makes plans to take the next step in their building relationship. Maddy Morgan is a successful, independent woman who struggles with the continuous mixed signals from the man with whom she is falling in love. Ronan’s love for Maddy never waivers in the face of her ongoing grief and inability to let go of the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and romantic without the over the top graphic sexual imagery.

TROUBLE WALKS IN has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Gavin and Jordan (Brave The Heat #1), parents Carolyn and Charles McGuire, as well as the remaining McGuire siblings-Tristan, Dillon and Finn. We are introduced to several of Maddy’s co-workers and boss; Ronan’s K-9 partner Bowser, and his superior officer who is determined to help Ronan find a relationship interest.

The world building continues to focus on family and friendship as well as the search for a serial killer who is targeting real estate employees. Throughout the story, several suspects begin to emerge and Maddy’s self-imposed isolation makes her a perfect target. The perpetrator is easily deduced early in the story line.

TROUBLE WALKS IN is a story with a little bit of romance, intrigue, suspense and fun. The premise is entertaining, amusing and dramatic; the characters are passionate and confident; the romance is sensual and passionate. TROUBLE WALKS IN is an entertaining read with great family dynamics and palpable sexual energy.

Trouble Walks In is book #2 in The McGuire Brothers series by Sara Humphreys. Although I haven't read book #1, I had no trouble jumping into the story since it works well as a standalone. The romance in Trouble Walks In is definitely a slow burn, but it's so worth it. Plus, the suspense elements kept me guessing up until the end.

Ronan McGuire is a police officer with the NYPD's K-9 unit. He loves his job and loves working with his partner, a bloodhound named Bowser. Although Ronan is described as being a ladies' man, we don't see much evidence of that, at least in this book. In fact, Ronan is pretty much head over heels for Maddy Morgan, a real estate broker who's also living in New York City now.

Maddy is recovering from a major heartbreak. Her longtime boyfriend, Rick, was a firefighter who died in the line of duty one year ago. Maddy is hoping that a change of scenery will do her good--hence the move to the city.

Ronan and Maddy grew up in the same town; now that they're living near each other again, they've become running buddies. They also have a history since they went to high school together and have known each other for years. However, although Ronan has always had feelings for Maddy, he never made a move since she was with Rick. But now that Rick is gone and Maddy is grieving, Ronan wants to be there for her as her friend but doesn't want to take advantage of her vulnerability.

I just loved Ronan as a character. He's good at his job, loves his canine partner, and is protective of Maddy without wanting to capitalize on the vulnerable time in her life. As I mentioned, I didn't see much evidence of Ronan being a ladies' man; for the duration of the book, he only has eyes for Maddy and I found that very appealing.

Maddy also excels at her job, where she works for a high-end real estate firm. But she and her colleagues are shaken when a series of murders are happening in the city and it appears that the killer is targeting real estate agents. While Maddy and Ronan's romance heats up, they have to contend with a growing number of murders that seem to get closer and closer to Maddy herself.

This was my first time reading anything by Humphreys and I really enjoyed her writing style. She did a great job of creating an ensemble of characters who I enjoyed getting to know. The McGuire family is clearly tight-knit and I loved their easy camaraderie with each other--the brothers as well as their parents.

Slow-burn romances are not usually my favorites, but this one definitely worked for me. Ronan takes his time with Maddy; even though they've known each other since they were teenagers, he recognizes what a rough time she's going through after Rick's death and gives her the space that she needs. He's there for her as a friend and never takes advantage of the situation. When Maddy decides that she's ready to start a new relationship--this time with Ronan--the sparks sure do fly. The two of them have amazing chemistry that's borne out of their years-long friendship. I found their relationship convincing and satisfying.

I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series and getting to know the rest of the McGuire brothers. I highly recommend Trouble Walks In.
