I can't remember the last time I read a batman comic. Possibly 30 years or more. I picked up Batman: Europa (2015-) #1 at random. I was not disappointed. This appears to have a short series arc, I believe just 4 episodes, but I will try to read the entire series. Exceptional artwork and an intriguing story premise makes this one of the better comics that I have read in some time. Perhaps I should be reading more batman? The Batman universe is unfortunately to large and knowing where to start at is daunting enough to keep me from jumping completely in. For now this series will do.
Pretty Good! So apparently like Captain America White this was suppose to come out almost a decade ago but its only coming out now? I guess Dc and Marvel like to save some stories for a rainy day. But any so this story batman has been infected with a virus and he needs to figure out how to cure himself. Can't really say more without spoiling, this is the first issue so I'm sure the twist and turns are coming! But overall a great read!
Over the past few years, new Batman has been sucking something fierce. Then this comes along and changes the game completely. With the fantastic storyline and the righteous art, this will make for one hell of a great series. A virus hits Batman and he will die in a weeks time if he doesnt solve the problem. But will this virus make him team up with the one he hates the most?
Surreal. It affects immediately, and sticks till the end of the plot. Bat takes a detour to the other side of Atlantic to find a cure for a terminal ailment while teaming up with an unlikely, foe. The illustrations are quite mature. There is bravado in the colours and a refined sense of story telling. Aesthetically pleasing.
After an 11-year gestation, the Batman Europa #1 issue hit local comic shop shelves last week and proceeded to blow minds as one of the most gripping and innovative stories to infuse the dark knight in quite some time.
The grit of Batman Europa #1 spills onto the streets of Berlin.
And there is blood as well.
For readers looking for cookie cutter grab, bash, and slam Batman stories that are all brawn, and very little to no brain, this is not the tale for you.
There are certainly some epic battles being fought within these pages, and [**SPOILER ALERT STARTS**] Killer Croc proves more formidable than our masked Bruce Wayne deems possible, as beatings ensue [**SPOILER ALERT ENDS**].
But if you enjoy the noir, detective yarns of the ingenious bat, look no further.
Batman Europa #1 blends a cunning new twist and an age-old villain for an extraordinary story and the premiere issue’s art is simply stunning.
I've read and reviewed many graphic novels since coming to Goodreads, but I believe this is the first time I have listed a single issue. I first learned about this series on io9, at this link:
I was intrigued. A comic book that's been in the offing for eleven years, featuring a team-up between Batman and the Joker? I understand Jim Lee is leaving after the first issue, but the story has hooked me.
Good start for a new series of Batman. Batman is sick and will need the help of someone he never tough... Interesting storyline, good action and beautiful illustration in an original style. Worth it!
