GL Chapple is a girl that always loved to read and write and promised herself that, one day, she’d have a book bearing her name on her shelf. Living in South Wales with her husband and two young children, she’s a thirty something stay at home mother.
She spends a great deal of time at the beach, despite the welsh weather! And loves hot and sunny days…which we never get enough of…
She will read almost anything and really only become enamoured with romance at the end of 2014, however, since then, she hasn’t looked back.

GL Chapple's debut book released in November, Freed by Him and the second part released in March, titled Caught by Her.

Her next release is almost ready and is available to add to your TBR Now - Free Falling. This is a standalone, spin-off from the Fighting Free series and can be read independently of the first two books.

This is an amazing debut novel by GL Chapple, and it gave me an emotional rush, and I absolutely fell in love with the characters, especially gramps, which no one will be able to not love, he’s freaking hilarious! Life is full of obstacles and enemies at your door, but it’s what you do to overcome those hurdles that make you who you are. This is a beautiful story of love, loss, and taking back your life.

Lena is a strong willed woman, with work on her mind, leaving not much time for a social life. That all changes the night she meets Nate, and he changes her whole outlook on life, slowly but surely. She’s a survivor and I love her ability to help and think of others while hiding the truths of her past away from others to see.

Nate’s had his heart broken, and doesn’t quite believe in love anymore, so he works hard and plays even harder. Not wanting to open himself up for another heartache and betrayal, he keeps most people at a distance, until Lena walks into his life. She’s the sunshine he so desperately needs, and little does she know, Lena’s in need of him just as badly.

With all my heart, I believe these two were destined for each other, and I adored watching their blossoming relationship, even the struggles they go through. Brilliant must read for everyone, and kudos to GL Chapple on creating such a wonderful group of characters, and needless to say, I’m itching to see what comes next!

This was a really great well written debut novel.

This story is told through two points of view. I really liked the main characters. Lena is a really great strong character. She's a fighter but is afraid to let anyone close in case she gets hurt again.

Nate is a hot sexy tattooed cop who made me swoon. What he wants he fights for and he wants Lena. But is he able to break down those walls she's built to protect herself?

Really brilliant debut novel. This is book one in a two part series. It ends in a cliffhanger and anyone that follows my reviews knows how much I dislike cliffhangers. However I'm glad I read this and hope I don't have to wait too long for book two.

When the prologue has you in tears you know you’re about to read something special.

Following a life-changing event at university Lena has built a wall around her heart; imagine the Great Wall of China!! She doesn’t need anyone, especially not a man…..

Enter Nate Masters who will have an automatic entry into you’re Top Ten BBF list. Tall, dark, handsome and tattooed. Oh, and did I mention he’s a policeman? No?! Oops, my bad ;)

The sparks fly from their initial meeting but can Nate scale Lena’s walls? Lena’s best friend sums it up perfectly for me:

“Stop thinking, start living.”

Words we can all live by as Lena isn’t living; she’s just existing. Nate is not a man to be ignored and when he sets his mind to something there is no stopping him.

Both are struggling with demons from their past and there are jaw dropping moments when secrets are revealed, but for Lena the danger is very much back in the present. She has a decision to make:

“…forget everything and run or face everything and rise.”

Nate is determined to protect his lady at all costs whilst at the same time trying to convince her to give him a chance. He is not a man to be denied. Personally speaking, he could call me Princess anytime! #justsaying

The sexual chemistry is off the charts between these two, and I thought at times I was going to combust. Nate puts the A in Alpha:

“You’re mine Lena, totally, completely and irrefutably mine.”

This stunning debut has it all: romance, suspense and amazing characters. And after the cliff-hanger ending, I can’t wait for the release of Book Two.

Ah sigh!! What did you do to me with that one!!!!

This was such a lovely surprise by the awesome Gemma Chapple. Her debut novel just rocked it and left me wanting more of that hot, yummy, sweetness - police officer Nate Masters. He seemed like the ultimate alpha, but at the same time had such a soft side to him that you have no other choice but to fall in love with him!

And Lena Nicholls. She wass such a warrior! So broken, but at the same time so strong! I really struggled and fought along with her the whole time. She was so brave, but also had such a fragile side to her. They were such a nice fit for each other.

And all the feelings with this story... I sencerely laughed at some places, cried, wanted to slap their faces for being so stubborn and not opening up to each other, felt their inner battles and so much more...and on top of that this crazy ending!!! Why??? Why did you have to do that to us, Gemma?!?! You evil devil! Now go and write like the wind, because we want more of that awesomeness!!

And I'm so beyond ready to be Freed by Him. If you haven't read this one, you may wanna go and check it out. And if you are still not convinced, go watch this trailer for the book :) Meet you on the othre side :P

Freed By Him is the debut novel from the lovely GL Chapple.

As debuts go, this one is a good solid start. I mean Holy Moly Cliffhanger. The plot line and story has been thought out and executed well. It's fast paced and contains the right balance of story, sex and action. However, I found things were a little repetitive throughout and there appeared to be alot more inner monologue than conversation and interaction between characters.
I really liked Nate, he's described well and wrote perfectly, he's mega hot. I would have loved more POV from him. I struggled with Lena. Something didn't connect with me and her. I felt for her in the beginning and therefore could understand her reservations around men and relationships. But there were a few times I wanted to slap her for over reacting and jumping to her own conclusions.

Overall this is a very good debut and I look forward to the next part of the story.

This is a great debut novel that will leave you starved for more.
Lena and Nate, our two main characters, live a half life. After some past tragic events they have trust issues. The walls they have built to keep people away start to crumble thanks to the feelings for each other and their sex chemistry and they choose to move on from their past and to fight for a better future. They are portrayed so well that you cannot not be involved into their lives.
I liked the supporting characters too especially Nate's grandfather.

I received an advanced copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lena is a successful business woman. She worked her way up from the bottom of her father’s company after a life changing event caused her to leave college early. She has built up walls to protect herself, no one will hurt her like that again. Nate is a hot alpha cop who has been burned in the past. Nate tries hard to build trust with Lena, to break down the walls she has erected. Will these two be able to work through their pasts and find a future with each other?

I fell in love with Nate and Lena from the very start! They both are very strong characters who have turned tragic pasts into their motivation to keep moving forward. The story is told in dual pov’s allowing you to see events from both Lena and Nate’s perspective. This story has it all, happy times, laugh out loud times, sad and cry your eyes out times. There is suspense and action as well in this story. It ends on a cliffhanger that will definitely leave you wanting more. I found myself trying to turn pages to find out what happens next!!! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the next book in the Fighting Free Series.

This was an excellent debut novel by Ms. Chapple. I will definitely be looking for more from her in the future!

Things on any night out can change so quickly & so drastically, and for Lena it changed her whole out look on life.
Work, friends, structure she doesn't need anything else... Right ?

After having your heart broken and feeling such betrayal by the ones who are suppose to love you the most. Nate Drowns himself in work and his nights out with Marcus are the thing he thinks he's enjoying, but that feeling only lasts so long.... Right ?

I fell so much in love with the characters in this book, I loved that although Nate & Lena are the main characters there's a lot of other things going on that keep everything so interesting and fits in so well that the story just flows. Gramps I have to say I love him so much he's real honest & will have you in fits of laughter.

Life throws curveballs and we all have to learn to either dodge them or grab them with both hands and embrace it and this story is exactly that. Sometimes you don't see them coming ;)

I'm not going to give much away you are going to want to read and have all the feels for yourself, but one thing you for sure you won't regret it.

This is an amazing first debut by Gemma I am extremely proud of her & to have seen this story come to life is just amazing.

5 amazing stars and every one well deserved.

It never ceases to amaze me when a debut novel comes out and it feels like a seasoned author has written it. Freed by Him from GL Chapple is exactly that and more! I had the distinct honor of receiving an arc and I can guarantee you that I will immediately one-click on anything GL puts out next!

I love everything about Lena. Even after overcoming terrible events, she's still a strong woman! And even though she hides behind her job, I still love her perseverance and her push!

Nate! Oh Nate. What's not to love about him? Cop? Check! Tattoos? Check! Hotness? Through the roof! But he himself is powering through a rough past.

One of the things i loved most about this book is experiencing the gradual, yet beautiful, buildup of two broken people finding the glue to repair the broken pieces of their hearts. Their journey, while filled with secrets and regrets of the past, is exciting and fresh.

Between the suspense, the amazing secondary characters (wait til y'all meet Gramps and Paul!), the heart aches and heart-stealing moments, this is definitely a book you'll read from start to finish in one setting. Congrats on an amazing and stunning debut book GL Chapple!

ARC for an honest review!

I fought with myself on how much this book deserved, and I had to note that the book I read yesterday got to me a little more. This was an amazing book with a good story.

That being said, this book started with a really sensible scene. I was tense and my heart hurt reading it, but I pushed through. It continued on great and the author made a great story. But, one thing bothered me; the repeated words, sentences in the same chapter, or on the same page. Literally repeated a few times over the span of few paragraphs. (And the author told me it is not an issue anymore.)

Oh God, the end. I don't want to give anything away, but holy hell that was some cliffhanger!

The book really was good and besides the few times I caught a mistake, I really enjoyed the book. If I manage to see the next book release I will probably read it.

Title: Freed By Him
Author: G.L Chapple
Release Date: November 19, 2015
Cliffhanger: Yes

Freed By Him is G.L Chapple debut book. I binge read this UK-based sexy, mystery romance. I loved Lena. She is strong, smart and independent. This character is no doormat. Then there's Nate, the alpha male cop who might be hiding something. There are a bunch of interesting sub-plots unraveling around a stalker or two, a sibling with a dark side, and an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend. Worth one-clicking! Bravo G.L.C.

If G.L. Chapple can write stories like that for a first novel, she must keep doing it! Just stunning and brilliant!

I don’t know exactly what to expect here and I was definitely surprised in a very good way.
The prologue set you in the mood, just ripped my heart. And I knew that it’s gonna be an emotional journey.

Lena is a fighter and a survivor. After being almost raped, she fought back to move one not be vulnerable ever again. This girl is my hero, she goes for what she wants and not afraid to stand up! She’s tough, confident and not searching for a relationship because she has no time.
When she crossed Nate’s path, there was a mind-blowing chemistry and the feisty warrior was kinda hooked. Just by one look.

And Nate … Le sigh! Our womanizer met his match and even if he didn’t want to acknowledge it, it was more than the physical attraction. Just a intense pull.
As a Police officer, no time for attachment or relationships but when Lena came into his life, that’s another story. He’s charming, flirtatious and funny. Sure about their chemistry, he’s willing to go further for what he wants.

These two have a lot of issues of their own. They were stubborn and hot tempered and they both (especially Lena) built strong walls to guard their hearts. Was Nate the one to break them? Were they able to face their demons?

Everything felt so natural, the banter so freaking fantastic, off the charts! I enjoyed to see Lena’s tough side to crack and melting through Nate persistence to win her over. Nate, you’re the man!
Freed by Him has great blend of romance, laughter and mystery with a hint of sexual vibes that gonna give you goosebumps.

When I was craving for more, I was served by a damn cliffhanger and hopefully I got book 2, so I could immediately read it right away!

It is very rarely that I come across a debut book and think OMG this is a read that feels like the writer has been around for a while.

Freed by Him is a read that will grab you by the throat and not let go. This is a read that will have you on an emotional rollercoaster and it will not even let you off the ride even when you have finished this book.

Lena is a woman that has put on a strong persona since a tragic horrific event at university. Throwing herself into her career, she has never looked back and has built a wall around herself that is truly impenetrable.

She is the type of person that doesn't like anything handed to her on a plate and will work her way up from the bottom. She has become a bitch in her work life and loves seeing results, but this is all a front as underneath lies an extremely broken woman.

Nate Masters is a hot alpha male that has his own emotional issues, meeting Lena though he has found a purpose. A purpose to break down the strongly build walls that she has built.

The chemistry between these two is sizzling, and you can feel that they will be so good for each other. But will events from Lena's past threaten her future?

GL Chappell has written a book that is such an invigorating read, it is so hard to believe that this is her debut book. A warning though there is a cliffhanger in this book, and I nearly threw my kindle across the room wanting more.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series, as I seriously need to know what happens next.

This was a fantastic debut novel from G.L. Chapple! Freed By Him is definitely an emotional read, full of ups and downs. I love that in a story and the author did a tremendous job bringing me on this journey with Nate and Lena.

I loved both characters! Nate is strong, sexy and caring. He has had his share of tragic events in his life, but he is not going to let those events control his future. And he wants a future with Lena. If he has his way, this hot alpha will get it! Lena is funny, feisty and determined. She is known as a ball breaker in the corporate world, but in reality she’s broken from a horrible event that happened years ago. Then she meets Nate Masters and her world starts to change. She begins to feel again, finding strength and happiness with this amazing man.

There were so many gut wrenching moments throughout Freed By Him, but what I enjoyed about this story were the perfectly timed funny moments. Most of them came from Nate. Ah! I love him so much! From his playful banter with his Gramps (LOVE GRAMPS!!) to his alpha mode moments with Lena, I smiled as much as I cussed. I really, really loved these moments and truly appreciated them.

This story had one hell of a cliffhanger that left me shouting and wanting to throw my kindle! I literally gasped out loud! Whoa! Can Nate help Lena heal her broken soul or will the past take hold of her spirit and break her once again?! I cannot wait to read the conclusion to Nate and Lena’s story! Great book G.L. Chapple!

What can you say about a debut novel that just blows you away? I mean seriously this book flowed from beginning to end and you were so invested in the characters because they were described in such detail that it never seemed to be too much. If anything at times it just wasnt enough and I kept wanting more.

Lena is strong willed and determined to over come the horrible thing that happened to her at University. But how does one get over it if you never talk about it? No one knows the dark secret shes keeping not her friends, nor her family. You know that saying of the past always comes back to bite you in the rear or haunt you. (however you say it) Well that is the honest truth of this book.

Nate... oh nate.. he hasnt had it easy in the relationship department. He was with a girl for almost 7 years and engaged. When he comes back home early from the military he finds that his fiance with someone else.

Both Nate and Lena struggle with the demons of their past. But when Lena's are right there in her present can she overcome it and fight or will she run. Nate being nate and a cop wants to protect Lena at all costs. But how much is too much for Lena? I wanted to strangle this girl quite a few times in this book for being stubborn and over reacting on multiple occasions!!

So cannot wait for more books by GL Chapple

FANTASTIC DEBUT NOVEL!!!

I fell in love with these two characters immediately. Lena portrays herself as this tough-as-nails business woman, but deep down she's still a afraid and scarred from an attack she suffered at the hands of a so-called friend. She's taught herself to fight back and won't be left vulnerable again.

Nate is this sexy-as-sin cop. You've gotta love a man in uniform, right? He's suffered significantly as well from the loss of his beloved parents, and his fiancé who slept with his brother. Who by the way is a total ass!!!

They meet when Nate responds to call about a disturbance at a centre for abused women that Lena volunteers at. He walks in on her giving a beat down to some lowlife who thinks its okay to hit is girlfriend.

There's an immediate attraction between the pair, and things heat up rather quickly. She fears being controlled, but Nate has this easy-going but still an Alpha way about him and he finally starts getting through to her.

But then it all goes to Hell.......Thanks for that GL. I hate cliffhangers and now I have to wait until the next book releases.

You lost a star simply on the fact that it ends in a cliffhanger. Did I mention that I hate them? Oh yes, I did! Lol!

All-in-all this was a fantastic read and I'm very much looking forward to the sequel.

When the prologue breaks your heart by the embroiled feelings it makes you have and its intensity you know you’re in for a hell of a ride.

Truthfully I was a bit anxious to read Freed by Him as I knew it ended with a cliffhanger. But I read it, and really, really loved it.
I can’t believe it’s GL’s debut book. It feels like she knows how to handle OUR emotions, OUR hopes.

This book deals with a pretty heavy topic and even if it is a theme we tend to find more and more, the way Lena chose to build her life after it has been shattered was really inspiring. She is such a strong character, with a beautiful and reflective mind.

And Nate… Nate, Nate, Nate… He is Lena’s rock. But she doesn’t realise it yet. He does his best to make her trust him, and show her time and time again that she can rely on him. I loved him for that. He has lived some pretty bad things too but together they learn to build a future, as individual but also as a couple.

That story felt so true for me, it sounded realistic, beautiful and hopeful (Except for this damn Cliffhanger!) I can not wait to read Caught by Her.

What a great debut novel! First thank you GL Chapple for an ARC copy of this book, I truly enjoyed every moment of it.

Lena even with a dramatic event in her past is a strong woman, she worked hard she climb her way to the top on her own in her father’s company, and she can kick major ass. But she holds back, sticks to her plan to keep herself safe physically and emotionally. Nate however walks in and turns that all around, but he has a past too that is haunting him.

The writing is great, story complex, and edited well. It may be a debut author but the entire feel of this book will lead you to believe that GL has written tons of books prior to this. The story is complex and the characters are easy to like and interesting. One thing that some fans may find that they do not like is that the romance story moves at a slow place. But the pace is great for both of our leads because they both have pasts that keep them from completely moving on.

I was really pleased with this novel and encourage you all to give it a try as well. Also Congrats on a superb debut novel GL Chapple!

Freed by Him is an outstanding debut novel by GL Chapple & is one I would highly recommend.

Lena is a strong business woman who has climbed her way from the bottom to the top of her father's company. But don't let her feisty demeanour fool you, underneath that tough girl exterior she is vulnerable and has managed to keep everyone at an arms length. She has her job, her family & her best friend Maddie, what more could she need?

Enter Nate who is an ex-military turned police officer, but underneath his alpha ego he is a true gentleman.

Both have pasts that they would rather forget but others seem hell bent on bringing their pasts back to be dealt with rather than forgotten, denied & buried.

Freed will take you on an emotional ride, it will have you laughing out loud, smiling your biggest smile, holding your breath, eyes wide & tears welling. But it is worth every second.

I can not wait for the second & final instalment of Nate & Lena's story.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

GL Chapple's debut book Freed by Him is an incredible story regarding a young college woman sexually assaulted at a campus party who never told anyone or received any help. I loved the way Ms. Chapple has written this story with such subject knowledge, understanding, and insights as to what can happen to a person who doesn't deal with the issues at hand. However chooses to bury the ordeal or thinks they have dealt with the issue, only to faced reality of the situation years later. I found the writing to be exceptional, engaging, and poignant.

If her debut is any indication of her writing abilities, I see a very long successful career ahead for GL Chapple.

3.5 sitting on the edge of my seat stars!

G.L. Chapple is a new author and I think she’s got great potential. Throughout my reading of this book, I found myself entertained by most of it and curious about what would happen next.
Lena is a woman who takes no prisoners. She had an experience while new in college that shaped the way she interacts with men. She has built a wall around herself to protect her from the men of this world whom she finds threatening – simply because they ARE men! She has learned how to protect herself physically, she’s a strong woman. But allowing a man past her self-created wall has simply not been something she has been interested in. Until she meets Nate.
Nate is a cop. Nate is a gorgeous cop with whom Lena shares a moment and afterwards, neither of them can stop thinking about the other. They had an immediate attraction and some serious chemistry brewing between them. So when they run into each other a few days later, Nate isn’t about ready to allow a second-chance with this intriguing woman fall through his fingertips and approaches her with a smile…
Everything seemed to freeze for a second as our eyes met. My heart stopped before suddenly started again, but it seemed to be beating at double speed. I felt like I had a million butterflies in my stomach. My breath seemed to have frozen in my throat. I could hear Maddie [her best friend] calling my name, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his. His face broke out into a slow lazy grin, and he dipped his head in greeting…
This guy is definitely an alpha-male, yet when it comes to Lena, he understands innately he needs to be careful not to scare her away. She reminded me of a skittish colt at times and Nate recognized this and eased his way into her life with care.
I absolutely loved the connection between these two people. They are both intelligent, creative, sexy, and hard-working people and I really enjoyed them together. I wanted them to overcome Lena’s skittishness and find their way into each other’s lives. I particularly enjoyed the fact that these two actually talked, and found they’re getting to know one another instead of popping right into bed just the right balance (not that these two don’t do the deed – they simply developed the beginnings of a relationship before exploring the physical aspect of their connection first). I found this to be quite sexy and appealing.
I also found this book to be a bit stressful. There is a dangerous aspect, as alluded to in the synopsis, that had me sitting on the edge of my seat as I read this book. I was sure I knew what was happening, in a sense, “who did it.” The lead-up to this revelation gathered steam as I read it, and just when I was sure about what was going to happen, I discovered I wasn’t necessarily right but…then there was this cliff-hanger at the end so now I don’t really know the answer to this mystery. Argh, cliff-hangers!!!
I found myself entertained and really enjoying this book but I feel like too much was left for the second book. I felt like I was left hanging more than a usual cliff-hanger would create and I finished the book feeling like I had just read a very long introduction to the “actual” book that must be the next (second of two) book in this series. I felt it had a pretty good build-up but after I finished the last page, I felt like I had essentially learned nothing as of yet and I found myself frustrated by this. I think this is a book where I would have liked to have waited for the second book in the series to be released before I read the first. This book introduced us to the characters and created the primary relationship, but then I hit a “To be Continued” page and I was frustrated.
This is not to say I didn’t enjoy this book. I did. I think the author did a very good job of beginning this story and am really wanting to know what will happen when it continues.
There was another character in the book I feel I must mention – that’s Nate’s Gramps! The relationship between Nate and Gramps was a pretty cool thing. This guy is a hoot…
“You upsetting the staff again, old man?” He glanced up at me, trying to keep his scowl from turning into a grin. “Bloody ridiculous rules and regulations in this place! They want to get into the 21st century!” He yelled the last sentence, glaring past me towards the door. I stepped directly into his line of sight and asked him what the problem was. The last time he’d been this agitated it had transpired that he’d decided to have a little poker game with drinks and smokes in his room, breaking a number of rules at the sheltered living accommodation relating to alcohol consumption, smoking and gambling. That had been a headache for me to sort out. They’d almost evicted him…He started to explain to me how he’d been discovered after lights out with a ‘lady friend’ in his bed who’d intended to stay the night, and I feigned a coughing fit trying to stifle the laughter that was bubbling up inside me. He saw straight through me. “You can laugh, boy! You’re young, good looking and free!..I might be old but I’m still a man!”
Gramps may be old and in an assisted living facility, but he’s completely there for Nate and has his back. I loved reading their part of this story very much!
This author is from the U.K. and this book is set there as well. It’s frankly a cool thing to have an author write about what they know! There have been a few times lately when a book is “set” somewhere here in the States and yet, the author (who does not live anywhere near where the story is based) has clearly been picking random places from a map to support their story without an understanding of the local area or culture of the region. That’s starting to make me a bit crazy! But in this book, that is not an issue. She’s writing about an area she knows and is comfortable writing about.
Why do I bring this up? Well, there are British terminology in this book and some of it is different, not only in names of items, but also in some of the spelling of words. Some or all of it might be common over on the other side of The Pond, but they are not common here. My advice – just go with the flow. She would use cos instead of ‘cause and I wasn’t sure if that was right but when I asked Google to define it, she’d used it correctly. I’m assuming this and other words might be local terms and just rolled with it.
In short, I liked this book but also felt the frustration about developing a story and then leaving most of the actual story to really develop in the second book. These two, Nate and Lena, did develop the beginning of their relationship in this book and with that, I found myself rooting for this pair. I am hopeful Nate can continue to really get in there, get behind her wall of protection and let these two become all they are supposed to become. In reading the synopsis for the sequel, Caught by Her, I must admit I’m worried about what will happen next in this regard. I’m sure that it will all work out eventually, but it looks like there will be a bit of an uphill battle in the future of Lena and Nate’s bond. And I look forward to learning how it all comes together!

So you may have noticed I've been on quite a fantasy and paranormal kick lately. It's been a bit since I have read a contemporary romance. As much as I thoroughly enjoy fantasy, I have to say that it was pretty nice to read this to shake things up a little. I almost forgot how nice a story like this can be. There is a glorious simplicity in a romance story that I really like. Without all the intricate world-building, there is a hard focus on the character's development. Romance is intimate in more ways than one. And Chapple did fabulously well with this set of characters!

With the warning of mature content on this and the blurb I thought this book would be a lot darker than it ended up being. I actually thought that Freed by Him was more focused on moving forward, and carrying on after something devastating happens. One thing I appreciated was how strong (inside and out) Lena was. I also loved the underlying messages about what strength means and truly is. Lena was tough and independent, and that was great, but the emphasis on the strength involved in being able to trust other people enough to let them in and accept a helping hand here and there was a welcome addition. I was also thankful for such a great leading man too! Nate was strong, kind, and a genuine good guy. They were a fabulous couple and you couldn't help rooting for them to figure their stuff out and make things work.

Another high point to bring up is that even the side characters were interesting. I always give high points to an author that doesn't use side characters as only a way to boost your feelings about the main ones. If you have them there, I want them to have a legitimate role to play. Maddie was a good friend to Lena and I enjoyed their fun and endearing relationship. I wouldn't mind getting a future book with her as a lead, just sayin'!!

This story line was equally as engaging as the characters, I honestly couldn't put it down. I devoured it in a day! There were a few different plot lines going on between Lena's past hurts and her subsequent current issues, and there was also some interesting things happening with Nate and his family, that I hope we figure out more about in the second book. It was riveting stuff and I look forward to seeing where things go from here. Of course there were a few really steamy parts in here too. The chemistry between Nate and Lena was spectacular! There was one hell of a cliffhanger at the end!! But this is just the first installment in Nate and Lena's story and the concluding part is yet to come. After that ending, especially, I am desperate to see how everything plays out!!

I an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Lena had escaped a horrifying experience while at university she vowed no one would ever hurt her again, she became stronger, harder training with her friend Paul she never wanted to be in that position again. Never wanting to need anyone she was at the top of her game heading her fathers company she could look after herself, she built the walls high around her heart determined no one would ever get past them until she met Nate Masters.
Nate loves his job as a policeman, hes had his fair share of hurt, losing his parents in a crash and finding out on his early return from his recent deployment that his brother had been sleeping with his girlfriend. He spends most of his life either working or out drinking with his friend Marcus.Estranged from his brother his only family is Gramps who he loves dearly.

Nate met lena when he was called to a disturbance at the refuge she helped out at,he was instantly captivated by how Lena had handled the situation. The chemistry between them is hot but is that enough to make Lena take a chance on Nate?Hes determined to break down her resolve,to get her to trust him,let him in but Lena is keeping secrets, secrets from her past.Lena starts to feel she could trust Nate hes kind and caring compassionate and strong can be a total alpha but then soft gentle and tender she cant help but start to fall for him and Nate is equally taken by his princess, his warrior, but he knows she sleeping things from him….can he get her to open up.When the past comes back to haunt her and affect her work place Lena finds she can no longer handle it all on her own and breaks down with Nate there to pick up the pieces can Lena finally et someone in to love her and give her the happiness she deserves? But danger is lurking will it all be taken from them?
I loved this book, although it is the authors first book it doesnt feel that way at all.The story is engaging, hot and sexy. The characters of Nate and Lena I totally loved from the first pages,Nate is every womans dream totally alpha with passion and heart.Lena although battered and bruised emotionally is still a strong beautiful character. The secondary characters all brought something special to this amazing story Maddie,Marcus,Paul and Gramps were amazing in their own right. The relationship that grew between Nate and Lena was beautifully written, hot and sexy I loved every minute!!
It does end on a cliffy I hope the wait for the conclusion of their story isn’t too long!

I received a ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review over on my blog (Pretty Little Book Blog)

After surviving a brutal attack Lena leaves college behind and returns to her hometown to begin a new life. Becoming the strong, successful CEO of her family's company. She has it all, a successful career, a lovely home, a great relationship with her family and friends. Everything except for someone to share her life and love with. In comes Nate, after experiencing some betrayal after returning early from a deployment he has a major chip on his shoulder about relationships in general. He quits the armed forces and joins the local police force. (Can we say, alpha police officer hero? I know a lot of you are gonna love that premise just on that fact but Nate is so much more than a piece of meat) he's a strong, compassionate man who yes sometimes gets pushy and states things bluntly (like I said he's a guy!) but he perfectly balances Lena.

They meet up after Nate responds to a call at a refuge for victims of domestic violence. And Lena feels that initial spark, she has been avoiding any personal relationships with men after her attack but I think seeing Nate easily interacting with the women who have brutalized by their partners makes her believe she could trust him, and trust her heart to give in to the pull of attraction. Now, that's not to say she makes it easy on him or they just instantly fall in love. There is a definite journey to love in this book and some speed bumps along the way. But it is definitely a journey worth taking. It's a unique story-- from the writing style (which I loved! It wasn't all Americanized down, and held some of the slang words and words us in America don't use near enough in my opinion) to the characters. They are both strong characters so they are on equal footing with each other so that power dnyamic is fun to see. In most romance novels there is a bit of a power difference maybe not totally overt but it almost always happens. With GL's writing style she gives them both a strong personality, both tops in their respective fields and a few flaws that serve to make them incredibly interesting. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

GL Chapple's debut novel, Freed By Him, was intriguing and engaging.

The fluid and multidimensional storyline grabs your attention and the connection you form with her characters holds you there.

A traumatic event in college causes Lena to rethink her plans. She leaves school and over time works her way up through her family's shipping business. Lena has promised herself that she will never be a victim again. She works hard to prove that she is a tough and capable woman, both with her career and outside of it.

She is strong, brave, stubborn, vulnerable, and jaded. Her past has greatly effected who she is and how she interacts with others. Lena is closed up and very cautious when it comes to men. I really enjoyed watching Nate force his way behind the high and heavy walls she has created.
Nate Masters is ex-military turned police officer. He's dealt with loss and been burned by those who were supposed to love him. Now he just dedicates himself to his job and having a good time with his friends.
He is easy going, confident, protective, and like Lena, he can be pretty stubborn and has a vulnerable side too. Nate had no interest in settling down with anyone but when he gets to know Lena, he doesn't have any interest in anyone else.

I enjoyed watching as these characters changed throughout the story, both individually and as a couple. Their chemistry was palpable and it was super sexy! Both Lena and Nate had cracks caused by people in their pasts, but they were finding that those cracks didn't define them and that together they just might heal.

Chapple also wove a bit of a mystery into the story. It created a sense of suspense and added additional conflict that further drove the story and completely sucked me in. I need to know what is going to happen next!! I'm eager to read the conclusion of Lena and Nate's story.

Nate and Lena!!!

HOLY.WOW!!! WARNING!!! HUGE Cliffhanger!!!

What a debut!!!
I'm gonna own you Lena, body, mind, heart and soul. You'll be mine, totally, completely and irrefutably mine!!!

Oh swoon!!! Nate Masters...I love him..so much!!
This book grabs and sucks you in from the very first page. One thing you need to know I also love Lena...I have a small girl crush on Lena she's so strong, independent, a ball breaker at work but she's not quite as strong as she thinks when she meets Nate who breaks down every one of her defences, she's had a hard time she left uni after an attack and then goes on to join her dad's company where she becomes the vice CEO!!

Nate Masters...where to start. Ex military turned cop got his own share of issues but he's HOT, GORGEOUS and SWOONWORTHY. These two are anazing, I think they've just become one of my favourite couples but if you don't like cliffhangers then wait for caught by her, so you can read the two books together but honestly, you won't want to wait...I'm not a patient person but for this I have to be!!
This book is AMAZING!! GL Chapple is fantastic, if this is what her debut is like I look forward to her future books because she can only get better she's definitely an author to look out for.
I've had a hard time writing this review but I can't put into words how I'm feeling after reading this. Nate and Lena have burrowed themselves into my heart and my head and I will be forever their cheeeaders. I can't wait for Caught by her...that is going to be my first most anticipated read of 2016!!
I wish I could say more about this book but I cant, except, READ IT, TODAY!! A massive 5 stars. I have so much love for this book and for GL Chapple because she's an amazing person as well as an author.
JUST READ IT!!! :) <3

Where to start my review... How do I convey all the feelings this book brought out in me?
Going into this story, I didn't realise just how affected by it I would be. But now, I am sat here with a tear stained face, impatiently waiting for book two to be released so that I can finally get to the bottom of all that's left unsaid in Freed By Him.
In case you don't like cliffhangers, may I suggest waiting for book two to release and then read them together. However, if like me, you love the anticipation, then may I suggest you dive right in.

This story is fast-paced, intense, brilliantly written and destined to be one of my all time favourites. GL Chapple really knows how to pull you into the heart of her story and in turn, she keeps your heart in her hands, wringing it and squeezing it as emotions are heightened.
I was on an emotional roller coaster throughout the whole story. I was swooning and falling in love but the next minute I was furious and wanting a punchbag close at hand.

If you like a story that really packs a punch, then Freed By Him is a must read.
If you like a story that reels you in and doesn't let go, then this is a must read.
If you like a story that has a really sweet, romantic feel behind all the drama, then, yes you guessed it, this is a must read!

Clever, witty, eloquently written... Freed By Him is sure to give you an emotional shakedown!

This debut novel introduces you to an author who is bound to hit your favourites list.

I am dying for book two... I will be swooning over memories of Masters until he is given back to me.

Thank you Gemma for allowing me an ARC of your amazing debut novel.

A debut book can go many ways, it can be mediocre, it can be something you struggle to finish or it can rock your world. Freed by Him definitely fits in the rock your world category.
The only thing I love more than the next book in a series I adore is a debut author that blows me away and GL Chapple did just that.

You go in thinking this is going to be a sweet romantic story of a girl overcoming her fears, it's so much more.
We have Lena. A traumatic experience in college has her heading home and convincing her father to let her work for him.
She started at the bottom and worked her way up, though the other employees never really respected her thinking she was getting a free ride courtesy of daddy. Now she's at the top and is a tough, take no prisoners business woman. But is she really living? No, more like existing, moving through each day just like the day before, repetition and safety.

Enter Nate Masters. The sexy tattooed cop who goes after what he wants and what he wants is Lena.
He wants to break through the wall she's erected and get to the real woman. He has his own demons to fight as well.
Nate will quickly become one of your favorite book boyfriends, he's the total package and the perfect mix of alpha and sweetness.
He knows what Lena needs and is determined to give it to her.

And the end. Cliffhanger. As much as I usually dislike cliffhangers I have hope for this one so I'm okay with waiting for the followup, hopefully I'll have it in my greedy little hands sooner than later!

Freed by him was well written, fast paced, with developed characters and a plot that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.
