Published in association with the Martha's Vineyard Historical Society, this comprehensive illustrated history of the island is written by its foremost authority.
This is a good 1-volume history of Martha's Vineyard, but I found it a little hard to read. The book is arranged chronologically... mostly. It skips around in time just enough to be annoying. Some parts of the book were really great, others mediocre. I would have liked more structure, or maybe even just sub-headings of chapters which would signal thematic sections and other departures from the timeline.
