BOOK 12 in The Ghosts of Culloden Moor Series. Be sure to read THE GATHERING FIRST to avoid spoilers. Hannah is a socially introverted painter with a problem. At the Mendon Mountain Music Festival, she must sell some of her artwork to pay her taxes or she’ll lose her precious home. But if she sells her paintings to the wrong people, she’s afraid she’ll lose her soul. Dougal, a Highlander ghost on leave from the battlefield, is anxious to help the lass, so he can collect a hero’s reward. But the independent miss has little need of him, and if he fails to solve her pressing problems, he’ll be sent on to the next world with no satisfaction at all! Was a fleeting friendship all they were meant to have? Or is there more tying these two together than they could have guessed?
KENNEDY is next. The true order of the series: The Gathering Lachlan Jamie Payton Gareth Fraser Rabby Duncan Aiden Macbeth Adam Dougal Thank you for reading!
I didn't care for Hannah. She was downright strange: a painter who sets up a stall at a music festival to sell paintings she calls her 'children' and doesn' t want to sell even though she is in desperate financial straits. She is too self-centered and all about her past disappointments and current self-made difficulties, actually asking a man she barely knows to give her a foot massage on unwashed feet, yet. Is this some kind of test? Soon after, she falls asleep spooned against Dougal, like a trusting infant, even though she is hardly inexperienced. Dougal, for whom the physical closeness is a bit too stirring to allow him to remain honorable, removes himself from the sofa and temptation. Dougal is described early on as being somewhat odd-looking with a Mohawk haircut, and not particularly handsome. By the end of the story, the irritating Hannah, who up until that point has not had a physical description suddenly becomes beautiful, and her Highland ghost, who has been treated mostly as a human watchdog, is described as handsome. Didn't care that much for either character, but liked him more for his good-humored patience. The third star is for the romantic way in which Dougal departed with a promise he later fulfilled. The ending of Hannah's afterward seemed rushed, but as another reviewer remarked, these novels are becoming more like short stories, and the prices should reflect it.
Dougal is book 12 in the series. Each book originates from the ghosts of 79 people who died at Culloden. However, each story is unique, and focuses on the specific ghost. Each ghost must complete a noble deed. This is Dougal and Hannah’s story. I love how each story is different, bringing out the uniqueness of the characters. The story is well written and interesting. The characters are well developed. Narration is excellent, I love the Scottish brogue. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I wasn't going to read Dougal at all. I pick these stories by name- strange. What is stranger yet is that I bought this book by mistake. Douglas and Hannah are so amazing. I don't do plot retelling bout just saying - This is my all time favorite besides Lachlan- in fact this book is a treasure. These two characters remind me of the movie "The Ghost and Mrs Muir". I love this story and I didn't want it to end.
This is book 12 in The Ghosts of Culloden Moor Series, a Scottish Paranormal Romance. This story is different than the other books in the series. Hannah and Dougal's story is emotional and intriguing. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk did an excellent job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Kennedy, the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved the bit about the stages of being a vender at an art/ craft fair. So very true! Also is true the bond between crafters, just like the bond between romance novel lovers. A wonderful story, don't forget your tissues. These stories can reslly pull the heart strings.
This is part of the ghost of the "Culloden Moor" series. Definitely read the "Gathering" first because it sets everything up. Each story is about one of the seventy nine who died at Culloden and are now ghosts. This is a good story, that develops nicely. It is interesting and intriguing with good narration. This one is about Dougal and Hannah. She is a bit ODD but he makes the story.
Dougal died on the battlefield of Culloden Moor along with a great many men on both sides of the battle. 79 ghosts arose and have vigil until a young Muir witch comes and offers them a chance to perform a noble deed for a reward. Dougal is transported to where Hannah is. Theirs is a love story of true love.

This series is a good one for quick reads. They catch you off guard at times...just when you expect you know how these books will read they surprise you. Some are bittersweet, some help you have closure with others. All are enjoyable.
This is so beautiful and heart wrenching. I cried at the end. This has a storyline that I have not come across before. I'm always surprised with the variety of storylines from this author.
Rating only 3 out of 5 stars because this one was entirely too sad! I understand that not all the highlanders can have their love story... Some have to "move on" right? But this one was just too heartbreaking. I'm glad we finally met BPC but it wasn't worth it for what Dougal missed out on! :(

This one was my least favorite out of the ones I've read so far. Still a good story and I will continue on with the series. I knew eventually I would find one I didn't love ):
Such a touching love story between these 2 characters. What are. the ending was quite different from the others in the series. The story made my heart soar. Loved it
Dougal (The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #12), my eleventh read from author L.L. Muir & the twelfth in the highly enjoyable Ghosts of Culloden Moor series. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes the books she reads influence me to read them as well. Another well-written short read in the series. I'll read more from this author & in this series, but what really got me going was narrator Andrew McDermott, I love his Irish brogue. Co-narrator Jenn McGuirk added to the enjoyment of the book. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
So great a storyline. Sofia gave Dougal Cameron his request for his talk with Bonnie Prince Charles at the same time gave him the one for him. He'll be checking in on her from time to time. So many different ways that they have been sent as their rewards for the chance to give closure to the men who have gathered in-death to have a shot at making it right that which wrong them so bad. Looking forward to seeing how the next warrior finds his way.
This book #12 and the saddest one yet! Dougal's # has come up and it's time to perform his heroic deed. He finds himself at a Music and Art festival where he runs interference for Hannah. Hannah is a odd ball because she has created all these paintings but doesn't want to sale them. Dougal helps her keep them and she in turn takes him home where he helps her learn to live again. I almost cried when he left. I still loved the book though.
Love it with all the twist and turns. I have truly enjoyed this series. Each book is completely different but based off the same event. This story was well written and the ending was heartbreaking. Good but sad at the same time. You will laugh and cry.
I too have rented a booth at a festival and have waited for the customer s who never came. What an accurate description of the event. I was not lucky enough to meet a Highlander.
