Thiên hành giả là một trong những tác phẩm tiêu biểu của nhà văn Trung Quốc đương đại Lưu Tỉnh Long, từng đoạt giải Văn học Mao Thuẫn Trung Quốc năm 2009 cho tiểu thuyết xuất sắc nhất.

Lấy bối cảnh là việc giáo dục đào tạo ở vùng nông thôn nghèo khó tại Trung Quốc thập niên 90 của thế kỷ 20, tác phẩm xoay quanh những cay đắng cơ cực của những người giáo viên dân lập trọn đời thầm lặng cống hiến cho sự nghiệp giáo dục tại một vùng nông thôn nghèo khó, nhưng họ lại luôn bị lãng quên.

Với phong cách tả thực, ngòi bút tinh tế, tác phẩm đã lột tả được chân thực cuộc sống cơ cực và tính cách rất riêng các nhân vật tiêu biểu tại trường tiểu học Giới Lĩnh cùng sự kiên trì dũng cảm, khát vọng và tấm lòng hết mình vì sự nghiệp đào tạo của các giáo viên dân lập. Đó là thầy giáo trẻ Trương Anh Tài, thầy hiệu trưởng Dư, hiệu phó Đặng Hữu Mễ, chủ nhiệm giáo vụ Tôn Tứ Hải… Mọi mối quan hệ trong nhà trường, giữa nhà trường với thôn xã, giữa nhà trường với các học sinh, phụ huynh… như những sợi dây tơ quấn quýt và bền chặt như một điển hình của xã hội thu nhỏ.

"Thiên hành giả" - Người đi trên trời, hình như thế. Vốn kiểu Hán ngữ nó loằng ngoằng, dịch ra cũng bằng thừa, chi bằng là cứ đọc sách thì tự nhiên sẽ đốn ngộ.

Đây là câu chuyện nói về giáo dục, cơ mà hoàn toàn khác biệt với những tác phẩm cùng đề tài mà mình đã từng đọc. Ở "Thiên hành giả", Lưu Tỉnh Long, với bút pháp chân thực, miêu tả những giáo viên bình thường, kiến thức bình thường, phù hợp với môi trường giáo dục ở một vùng còn hơn cả sâu và xa ở Trung Quốc. Ở đó, giáo viên chỉ mong mình có ngày được vào biên chế nhà nước (gọi là vào công lập) để đảm bảo được miếng cơm manh áo cho gia đình. Ở đó, người giáo viên chỉ mơ ước trong số những học sinh mình dạy có được một em đậu vào đại học. Với đời sống dưới cả mức nghèo khổ, với đồng lương dân lập lĩnh theo năm mà nhiều khi còn bị nợ, những người giáo viên vẫn miệt mài động viên các em đến trường. Nó là cuộc chiến tầm thường nhưng lại vô cùng cao cả giữa một bên là cơm áo gạo tiền, một bên là sự nghiệp giáo dục.

Hai tháng sau ngày đọc chợt nhận ra chỉ còn nhớ rõ nét về Trương Anh Tài và Hạ Vũ, tiếc là cuộc đời mỗi người khúc khuỷu đoạn trường khác nhau nên chẳng thể quy về một lối chung. Giới Lĩnh tuy mang danh ở nơi thâm sơn cùng cốc nhưng câu chuyện đối với Việt Nam mà nói thì cũng chẳng xa xôi gì, thôi thì mời mọi người đón đọc.

Mình nghĩ mình cần phải dành nhiều thời gian hơn để suy nghĩ về cái tên "Thiên hành giả"
Bỏ qua vấn để về tên, quyển sách này làm mình khá bất nhờ khi nó vượt ngoài mong đợi. Mình chọn đọc nó vì một cuộc thi review sách ở trường. Khi đọc giới thiệu, mình biết chủ đề xoay quanh của nó là nền giáo dục đương đại.

Có lẽ, nhân vật hiệu trưởng Dư là người để lại nhiều ấn tượng nhất. Từ việc khắc hoạ ông là một giáo viẻn dân lập, suốt đời cống hiến vì sự nghiệp trồng người và đặc biệt là không màng danh lợi. Tinh thần người giáo viên như thế âu cũng là cái quý giá trong thời điểm rối ren như hiện nay.

Quyển truyện cho thấy khát khao của người giáo viên dân lập, cống hiến nhưng vẫn không quên lí tưởng của mình - mong mỏi một ngày có thể chuyển thành giáo viên công lập. Đó chính là một Minh Ái Phần chỉ trút hơi thở cuối cùng của mình khi nghe được tờ công văn chuyển chính thức. Đúng là dù là ở nơi khô cằn nhất, thì bông hoa của niềm tin, của hi vọng vẫn không ngừng vươn cao, vươn xa

Dường như, tuyến nhân vật cũng biểu thị một điều rằng mọi con người trên mảnh đất trồng người nói chung và làng quê Giới Lĩnh nói riêng đều quá đỗi nhỏ bé trong những mơ ước vĩ đại. Điều ấy còn nói lên rằng ở đâu đó ngoài kia sẽ còn có những hiệu trưởng Dư như thế, vẫn còn có những Hạ Tuyết, Lam Phi, Đặng Hữu Mễ và Tôn Tứ Hải như thế.

Quyển truyện đồng thời khắc hoạ mặt trái của xã hội, giữa tiền và quyền thông qua nhân vật trưởng thôn Dư Thực. Mình nghĩ đó là vấn đề muôn thuở, không có gì mới, song nó thể hiện được khá rõ bản tính này trong môi trường công viên chức.

Văn phong của dịch giả khá ổn định, tạo cảm giác hoài cổ và khiến mình liên tưởng đến những bộ phim Trung Quốc thời 199x với những cũ kĩ, những gam màu nóng ảm đạm, hoặc những màu tuyết trắng ngần u ám. Về mặt văn phong tác giả tạo cảm giác khá tốt.

Mình nghĩ để viết được những dòng review chất lượng nhất, mình cần phải tìm hiểu thêm về văn hoá Trung Quốc, tầng lớp lao động Trung Quốc, chế độ bình quyền và vấn đề giữa giáo viên dân lập - công lập ở Trung Quốc, châu Á và khắp mọi nơi trên thế giới.

Một tác phẩm văn học hiện thực xã hội chân thực và xúc động. Miêu tả chân thực tình cảnh giáo dục của ngôi trường nhỏ trên núi Giới Lĩnh, nơi mà các thầy cô phải có lý tưởng và tình yêu tuyệt đối với giáo dục và tình người mới có thể trụ nổi qua những khó khăn, thiếu thốn để dạy, chăm sóc học sinh như con của mình. Họ cũng mong có sự thay đổi, thăng tiến sự nghiệp, được luân chuyển về nơi khác có điều kiện hơn; thế nhưng mỗi lần có cơ hội, họ lại nhường nhau và cuối cùng vẫn chọn ở lại. Nhiều đoạn xúc động một cách tự nhiên, không giả tạo hay lên gân, nhất là về tình đồng nghiệp, tình gia đình, tình yêu trong sáng.
Một ngôi trường nhỏ trên núi, thuộc ngôi làng nhỏ, nơi cũng có đấu tranh chính trị, sự lạm quyền, sự lãng quên, những bí mật,… và nơi con người bộc lộ hết những điều cốt lõi nhất của mỗi người trong cuộc sống bấp bênh thiếu thốn, nhiều cám dỗ từ ngoại cảnh. Đọc và trân quý biết bao những thầy cô đã và vẫn đang bám việc dạy học lẫn giáo dục con người ở những nơi xa xôi, hiểm trở, bị rơi vào quên lãng nhất của xã hội.
