They had said the Wild West was dead. They lied.

Hollis feared loneliness would swallow him whole. He’d arrived in Wyoming to fulfill his uncle’s dying wish – that he save the people of Gillette. But he wasn’t prepared for the bitter cold and hardened hearts that would greet him. And now a dark secret in his new home threatens to destroy his very soul. Will Hollis prevail against the tide of evil? Can he overcome where stronger men failed, before the west claims another victim?

Frontier Preacher by David Millican isn’t your typical Historical Fiction. Set against the beautiful but harsh backdrop of Wyoming it is an exploration of the human spirit’s capacity for evil and triumph. The people feel real, the horrors heart wrenching, and the story will sweep you away. It may be hard to classify but it’s even harder to put down.

Interesting read

I liked the story...probably had a bit of truth to it, even though it was an unusual story. I am sure the traveling preachers of our country's early beginnings ensured some awful hardships and huge obstacles, so the byline is believable. David needs to have his book edited for spelling and grammatical errors which would improve it's literary appeal. I would recommend this book as it has an incredible subject.

Depending on God does pay off.

The author made me feel as if I were a bystander watching some of the events unfold. The hardships Hollis felt of being lonely in a new place, the bitter cold, having so many towns people turned against him and God were about too much. God's answer to his prayers should remind all readers that God does answer.

Real old west

This was a good book and the story was inspiring to do what is right even when the outcome is personally difficult. How often we avoid doing what is right because it will cost us so much. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

Page turner

I could have easily finished it in a couple of hours. It was that good an unconventional western novel. I haven't read very many Christian themed westerns . But I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

What an interesting and captivating novel! This is a wonderful story about a man, his journey and the people he meets along the way. The author combines a great internal and external plot together brilliantly weaving together with three-dimensional characters in a realistic setting. I loved the writing and the story. Then ending is unexpected and inevitable at the same time.

This is an emotional story with some graphic violence that is crucial to the story line. It is not for young children or for those who prefer not to look at the reality of life. The book takes the reader on a journey along with the main character, Hollis. It is a journey worth taking and I highly recommend that you read this novel. It is beautifully written and well worth the 2-3 hours of your time it will take to read the story.
