Reviews w/some spoilers

What a great story line ,we begin with Nero, a Muslim-American man who carries a lot of pain from his childhood and due to that pain never wanted children. Stacey, his African-American wife who agreed to a childless marriage, but years into their relationship she changes her mind and believes she can change his mind is a very real issue is some marriages and made for compelling book, that had me from the beginning. I loved this book, the plot, the mystery, the drama and of course the romance. Nero and Stacey where wonderful. The wealth of emotions and he depth of the betrayal they both felt from the other was outstanding. As a married woman,I love a story about the very real issues that take place in a marriage. The wether or not to have children is a big issue is a lot of relationships and it was explored his in two marriages in such a way that you real could understand why each felt the way they did about kids. The manipulation that Stacey and Nero's brother employed is not that uncommon when two people don't really communicate with one another and one party feels that their needs and wants and not being heard. Great book! This will definitely be in my re-read pile.

It is very well written, please expect nothing but a spectacularly written book where this particular author is concerned. I just found myself less than thrilled with the heroine she lost her individualism completely and relied on her husband too much as far as finally seriously courting her husband's religion and I just find it very hard to identify or understand where a heroine like that is coming from hence I only just barely liked her which of course led to me liking the story well enough. But because Sienna is a very talented author and the book is well written I would recommend it.... highly.

A Study In Marriage

Damn, this was good! I've had this book since it was released years ago, and I'm just reading it. The subject matter is heavy af, but the storytelling is great. I love romances that are relationship focused and not driven only by the couple's sexual attraction (Okay, I'd be lying if I didn't say that's also not important, but the story didn't revolve around how many sex scenes the author could squeeze in between actual plot.)

I also love that the hero is Muslim-American and that his faith and traditions weren't used as a means of rejecting his culture. It was also refreshing to read about a woman who wanted to be a wife and support system to her man. It's okay, ladies. We don't always want or have to be Miss Independent, I-on't-need-no-man. Stacie did make a few personal sacrifices I didn't agree with, but I understood that her love for her man was a huge part of her personal happiness and that was more important than any professional accomplishments.

If this story has been fermenting in your TBR, definitely dust it off. Definitely worth your time.

I really enjoyed this book because it's a topic I haven't read about in the romance genre. I loved the angst. I also loved the fact that this book dealt with real issues. Pregnancy, death, suicide, mental illness. There were some tough moments this couple had to fight through. I didn't like the way they repeatedly ran from their troubles though. Just a little communication would have made things better. Overall, this is another great read by this author.

1.5 stars. Started reading in Jan 2016 stopped at 49%. Restarted in 2022 thinking I might have been in a haste to abandon. I wasn’t. My gut was right. It was just okay. Nothing memorable tbh.

Wow!

This was a five-star read because it was a well-written departure for the author's usual crime drama romance. The characters were full and multi-dimensional. The plot twists were good. The sad moments were realistically constructed. Ahhh, but the angst! The angst of the main characters and their supporting cast was so real, it was palpable (love loss, love recovery, death)! In fact, the angst was so good that the HEA was almost anticlimactic. The operative word is 'almost'. The Author delivered a great HEA suitable for the changes this book puts you through. Thank you for this story about a Muslim man and a Christian woman. Considering all that is going on in our world today, this was timely. This was just damn good!

Nice Read!

I loved the storyline for this book. I found myself in my feelings. Reading this book, make sure you have a box of Kleenex nearby. The main characters in this book stem around an African American woman, Stacie, that was part owner of a restaurant and a Persian Iranian white man, Nero, that is the Captain of the Police Dept. These two married people are the idea couple of true love until an unintentional bout of deceit. He would you have handled the situation? You have to read the book to decide. I sure hope Sienna writes another book about Nero and Stacie because I would like to know what happens to them down the road. This is definitely a book that I will recommend to others.

I have only read the Battaglia Mafia series from this writer, so this was my first foray into something else of hers. I was not expecting a more typical romance--that's what this was. Yes, they are already married, but the progression of the novel is a love story. It had the best elements of her Battaglia series: an emotionally charged read with tragic plot twists and heartfelt sensuality between the two main characters. What it didn't have is the fantastical adventure of the Battaglia series. This book is a bit (a lot) more grouded. And while that was unexpected, I actually liked it.

Really Good!

Once again Sienna Mynx takes us on an journey of real and powerful love in The Promise...In this book Ms. Mynx tackles two subjects are new to her readers...mental illness and Persian Americans which I found to be very interesting and very different from her other books you can actual feel Nero and Stacie emotions as they struggle to love and keep their promises to each other.
Most importantly you can see Ms. Mynx growth as an author she literally hit the ball out of the park on this one.

Suspense!

This story had me on the edge and it had a very unexpected turn! I had to go back to the beginning and reread a lil because I definitely thought the story was going one direction and it went another.
The passion between Nero and Stacy is the kind that you wish for and a nice multicultural love story. It was a nice mix between love and acceptance and the different bonds that come from it.
Loved this story!

Different from her crime thriller romances. But just as good. The storyline was well developed. This storyline deals with a different culture, survivor's guilt, what one deems as betrayal, and mental illness. I thought the secondary characters story was just as good with the main characters. Unfortunate tragedy unfolds that forces individuals to wake up and see what they have and what is truly important.

I absolutely love this book! I love the main characters and the development they made throughout the book, especially Nero. His brother's death was a big wake up call for him and he eventually learnt to really appreciate his wife. The happy ending was so cute. Overall, it was well written and I'm yet again impressed by a Sienna Mynx book!

Good

Stacie the woman main lead, frustrated me, I felt she was willfully blind about some things and then had the nerve to be upset when it didn't work out the way she wanted. Nero was honest about many things but not everything, which caused problems later on. All in All Very Good.

The relationship between Stacie and Nero is perfect,at least that's how it appears in the beginning.Eventually,Stacie realises that's she needs more, unfortunately Nero is not willing to give her what she needs to feel complete.I was engrossed in this story from beginning to end. I loved this book and was left with a feeling of such fondness for these amazing characters.

Another great read

I love just about anything that Sienna Mynx writes and this is no exception. Captain Nero Hussein and Stacie's story was a joyous read for me. Their differences and struggles made their love more beautiful.

Another great book by Me Sienna Mynx. I've became a big fan of this author after I read Black Butterfly and this book is just another testimony of her great work showing that life is not the fairytale most people think it is.

Nero & Stacie are a dynamic couple. Nero is strong, brazen, determined, and passionate. Neto is a troubled man because of his earlier responsibilities from very early years. Stacie has her sight set on her delicious detection. There were a couple that needed them and craved no other. There problem was lack of trust. Will that trust be be given or will their relationship dissolve? Sienna did an excellent job as always!
