In early 2015, author Erin Olson felt the Spirit calling her to a closer walk with the Lord. As she wrestled with what this meant, she was led to revisit the concept of Lent. Sit at His Feet: Choose What is Better is a result of what Erin was consequently led to write.
Although many churches observe Lent, some have removed this practice altogether, and people have missed out on the opportunity to experience and understand this reverent season. While it is true that followers of Jesus Christ should have a daily, personal relationship with their Savior, certain seasons should cause believers to draw even closer to Him as they prepare to celebrate Him with the world—especially with the unbelieving world.
From reading these daily devotionals interlaced with Scripture and personal stories, Erin hopes the desire to sit at His feet and choose Him increases. Sit at His Feet: Choose What is Better is intended to be a timeless devotional that may be reached for every Lenten season as well as any season the reader may simply need to sit at His feet.
Erin will tell you she is most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt either writing or having a conversation with someone about the power available to them through Christ and the Holy Spirit. Erin's primary full-time ministry is that of a homemaker which consists of serving her husband, Scott, her three children, and four dogs. In 2012 while raising her young family, she founded Sandalfeet Ministries as a way to minister to people. She blogs on her website (sandalfeet.org), is a podcaster, Bible study teacher, lay leader in her church, ordained minister, and the author of Forgiveness - Unforgiveness: Revealed Through Your Fruits, Sit At His Feet: Choose What Is Better, 46 Days with Jesus, and Simplify the Season: Rediscover Christ Through Advent, and her latest release, Spiritual Orphans: A Generation in Crisis. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Regis University (Denver, CO) and a master's degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (Lynchburg, VA).
I won this book on Goodreads Giveaways. It is a book of devotionals set up to be completed over lent. I found myself wanting to read more than one day's worth each day. It helped me to grow in my spiritual journey.
This devotional is one of my favorites. It is well written and easy to follow. The daily messages had a way of delivering to me exactly what I needed to hear that day. This book touched my heart and made me feel like I drew closer to Jesus each time I read another chapter.
I'm glad I was given the opportunity to read this book and would recommend it to anyone wanting to refresh or renew their faith.
I decided to review this book now because I cheated and read ahead. I will still grab this book in the morning and read each chapter and ponder the great questions. This is an excellent book to have during the Lenten season. It puts you in touch of how special this season really is. You can tell that the author knows and loves Jesus.
This is a devotional for the Lenten Season. After finishing this awesome book. It made me stop and think of the effect it had on me. It truely has helped me to grow into. a more intimate relationship with God. It's beautifully written and I'm debating on passing it on or keeping it for next year.
'Sit At His Feet: Choose What is Better' by Erin Olson is beautiful because of its simplicity.
Each day's reading is brief, with breaks on Sundays encouraging you to commune with God.
Erin gives you the Scripture verses she references right in the book so you don't need to look them up, and there's no journaling or homework.
The timing and theme of this Lenten study could not be more perfect, because I'm currently in the middle of a Mary and Martha study that focuses on choosing what's best--being in the presence of Jesus.
Erin, thank you for allowing God to bring home this point to me in a very clear way through your words!
Don’t let life stop you from reading. This book would heaven helped me immensely if I continued “while things were getting stressed.” So many excuses!! Seriously take the time to sit at his feet and respond to him. Jesus deserves our attention. He wants a relationship with you!
