Author Christopher Kenworthy is careful to mention (repeatedly in his foreword and epilogue) that reading this book does not mean you must "copy" filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. It's a responsible thing to do, but ironic when you consider that Tarantino himself copies and remixes other filmmakers (an old friend of mine once aptly called QT a "film DJ"). SHOOT LIKE TARANTINO is a decidedly mixed bag of opinions, curious observations and nuggets of filmmaking techniques. It's a modest, slim book of just 100 pages consisting of black-and-white screencaps of Tarantino films on the one side and Kenworthy's text on the other (brief notes actually, not occupying more than half-a-page). While useful for amateur filmmakers and students, Kenworthy's effort to glorify Quentin Tarantino as a "technical filmmaker" and impart his genius to the reader falls short. Most disappointingly, the author fails to credit or even mention the involvement of the cinematographers. Boo!

کتاب مختصری از مدل کارگردانی تارانتینو. هفت فیلم از فیلم های با صفای تارانتینو رو اورده و از هرکدوم یک یا چند صحنه رو بررسی کرده. بررسی از جهات مختلف مثلا چرا دوربین اینجاست چرا اینجوری کات خورد و... که خوندنش ضرری نداره.
مراقب هم باشیم. کنار هم بمونیم.

Pretty interesting. I'm not the biggest fan of Tarantino but this book was still a unique look into his directing strategies. The writing style is quite dry and unengaging but it didn't bother me too much since this book is on the shorter side anyway.
