“… And the greatest of these is love.”

Love is patient and kind… Its strength can build bridges and knock down walls. It can give people hope - a purpose. But there is a side to love that is unforgiving and cruel - a side to love that breaks hearts.

Love can suffocate, and love can turn to hate.

Billy Taylor meandered through life, only ever giving half. Ruled by his father’s grief, he gave up on his own dreams in a bid to keep life ticking along, desperately craving the unconditional love of his parents. It wasn’t until Eve Swallow fell into his life again, rousing his empty heart, that he dared to hope for a chance to live life on his terms.

Never quite good enough in the eyes of her overpowering mother, Eve kept herself locked away inside her own head, immersing herself in her passion for art and music, and doing anything in her power to avoid getting close to anyone. When she connected with Billy’s eyes, that still haunted her dreams after so long, fear kicked in, and all she could do was the one thing she was sure would protect her…

Run.

If two lost souls were to collide and a love so deep was born, it would surely take a herd of elephants to tear them apart…

Eleanor Lloyd-Jones is and always has been a perpetual daydreamer. A mum of one and a full-time primary school teacher, she spins plates and chases her tail in order that she can live out the dream she has had since being a little girl: to write stories.

Like lots of indie authors, her dream is to hit the big time, make all the lists and have some hot-shot movie producer pick up one of her books and turn it into the next blockbuster. Until that happens, she is content to type away, bringing her imagination to life, and just hopes that the people who read her words get some sort of enjoyment out of them and love her characters as much as she does.

Housing Elephants is a story of love between two damaged souls.

I loved that this book was set in York. I spent the first 23 years of my life (except for the 3 years I was at Bradford university) living in York, and loved it there, so I really enjoyed reading names of places I used to hang out, such as Lendal Cellars and the Museum Gardens, and names of streets I’ve walked down many hundreds of times over the years.

Although my interest wavered slightly somewhere in the middle, the emotional and tense ending more than made up for that.

I recommend this to fans of emotional romance that isn’t all fluffy and happy. This may also appeal to fans of Young Adult fiction too, as the main characters are late teens/early 20s. There are some dark subjects covered in this novel.

I need to preface this review by saying this was not my kind of book. I am a fluffy YA paranormal girl all the way but this book was recommended by my book club so I sucked it up. This is such an emotional read. I feel like this cannot be stated enough. Truthfully, as somebody who has social anxiety, the writer writes so truthfully, I almost felt it was triggering at times. You root for Billy and Eve from the beginning. You want good things for them. That being said, this book gutted me. The writing is beautiful and the story is captivating but it left me feeling a little like I had an open wound because of the cliffhanger. When it was over I still couldn't shake the story. Part of the reason being, I think I related a little too much to the main character, which is a great thing. These characters are so real. If you like emotional reads, you have to read this. I'll read book two because now I have to know what happens next but this book should come with a warning label.

This book was such an emotional read. I love reading books about characters who connect to the world differently than what we might consider the ‘norm.’ This is definitely the case of Eve, who has severe social anxiety. She’s fascinated by people and loves to draw them, but actual one-one interactions? They terrify her. So when Billy Taylor, a boy she’s met once before and felt a terrifying fascination for, comes into her life again, it’s her worst nightmare. Because Billy hasn’t forgotten about her either. Eve has a go-to mode when she gets freaked out by social situations—she runs. But what happens when Billy follows?

This book reminded me of Archer’s Voice—of the one person who is able to connect with a unique and special individual. But Billy also has some intense things going on in his own life. The obstacles facing both Eve and Billy don’t make for an easy road for this couple. And then even more heartbreaking revelations are made. Gotta tell the truth, my heart was cut out of my chest and flopping around on the ground like a fish by the end of this novel. Only the very best authors are able to draw this kind of emotion out of me.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!!!!!!!

Housing Elephants is a stunning debut novel from Eleanor Lloyd Jones.

Billy and Eve are two lost souls you just can't help falling in love with right from the start of the book. You find yourself rooting for them right from the off, hoping that they can take the connection that's so obvious between them and allow it to somehow heal their brokenness.

Billy's life is an unbelievably difficult one. His family has been torn apart by one of the cruelest diseases there is and he's left shouldering the weight of both his and his father's grief. He deals with far too many burdens for somebody his age, sacrificing his own dreams somewhere along the way. At times I just wanted to pluck him from the story and give his battered and bruised soul a hug and tell him everything would be alright in the end.

Eve lives an isolated life, cutting herself off from the rest of the world for reasons that, at the start of the story, she doesn't quite understand yet. She's spent her entire life (or what she can remember of it) up to this point running away from anybody who tries to get close to her. She has walls erected around her that seem impenetrable and she likes it that way. She doesn't realise just how lonely the road she's walking is until Billy hammers relentlessly on those walls, unwilling to give up on the beautiful soul he sees beneath her fear and isolation.

When these two come together, it makes for a gripping and beautiful read that kept me turning the pages well into the night. The characters are real, flawed and relatable and the very real, very difficult issues are dealt with in a sensitive but extremely emotional way. I'm not ashamed to say that I cried in several places.

The supporting characters are almost as engaging as Eve and Billy, and I look forward to hopefully seeing more of them in the sequel. At no point do they seem like they're there purely to support the story. Each one has their own development through the story, alongside the key duo.

Eleanor Lloyd Jones writes intelligently, very much on the wavelength of her characters, and in doing so, she manages to take the reader away from their own life and thrusts them into the centre of the drama unfolding on the pages.

Overall this was a brilliant 5* read that deals with an array of issues with compassion, without ever really pulling any punches. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and in places, it made me want to hurl my Kindle through the window, which, to me, is the mark of an amazing book.

I wish Eleanor Lloyd Jones all the best with what looks to me to be a promising writing career.

Housing Elephants
By Eleanor Lloyd-Jones
‘He’d seen this girl before and knew she was different to the others that he had spent time with. Her eyes spoke volumes about just how different. Something behind the grey swirls reflected feelings that were inside of him, and he frowned with emptiness and confusion as she walked away.”
How do you rid yourself of your past? How do you begin to trust again? Housing Elephants was the most “real” book I have ever read. This isn't a fru-fru romance, there was no dashing millionaire, no naive girl playing victim. This book is about life. True, raw life. Eleanor doesn’t shy away from telling the truth. Sometimes, the truth is ugly, and Eleanor paints truth’s picture elegantly, but doesn’t sugar coat the reality that comes with real life.
“He wanted to hold her hand while she emptied her bucket of broken pieces onto the floor and then sit cross-legged next to her and help her to put them back together again.
Eve, anxious and scared; Billy, trying to hold it all together; when they meet, both of their worlds are turned upside down. Trying to deal with a shitty life is hard enough, but when you meet someone that needs you to help them survive, the reality is almost too painful. The scenarios that Eve and Billy live through each day, are a huge eye opener for us, the readers. We are used to hearts and flowers, but Eleanor shows us love in a primal way. Where survival seems like a nightmare. Where trust is foreign, and where love hurts.
“Their love was painful. It was all consuming, and they hadn’t been able to see through the thickness of it in order to start living again.”
This book blew my mind. It was unlike anything I have ever read. So real, and so emotional. It was like watching a tragic ballet story. My heart beat fast, and my head spun while reading Housing Elephants. The words Eleanor used flowed flawlessly, and I could feel the love that Eleanor put into this book. She is a timeless author, and I will most definitely be reading more of her works.

I think I might just be in love; with the author, the story, the characters...even with York - I've never been there!
This author writes so well you can believe every word and making it even better was that it included subjects close to my heart; or which I have personal knowledge and understanding of. She made me laugh and cry, wince with pain and feel warm with joy as I read the words she so eloquently put together; even making me realise a few of my own elephants still lurk where I thought I'd left them forgotten.
The story covers the every day ups and downs of life for 'normal' people but then touches on difficult and hurtful topics with clear understanding and empathy. I never thought I could read such subjects without feeling awful at the thought; however, this debut author has astounded me. She's judged the timing and temperament perfectly (for me), making my heart swell as the characters faced their demons head on.

There were a few areas where it feels like there are gaps - where I longed for more detail, more information, more time - just more! That said, the book doesn't lose anything because of them and filling in the gaps would have caused the book to be too much for a single story but equally, I'd have died if she'd finished it sooner, splitting it into two so again, I think the judgement was pretty spot on. As I say, the story is still complete without them, I was just so wrapped up and drinking it in so heavily that I wanted nothing left out at all. I was entirely immersed in the lives of these two damaged, hurting individuals coming out of their shells and helping each other in endless ways, I really wanted to see them have a happy ending.

Did they get a happy ending? I couldn't possibly say as the story is left 'To be continued...' and I cannot wait for the next installment. I've a feeling that whatever happens next, it won't be an easy ride for either Billy or Eve but I hope they enjoy the roller-coaster!

This book wasn't your every day fluffy romance. This book was real life. I'm talking real characters with real issues, and not just your standard "I'll throw this in to make my character more complex" that I've come across in other books. This book deals with dark issues that cant just be swept under the carpet and forgotten about. At least not for long anyway. And it deals with them with compassion.

And while this book is filled with sensitive subjects it is also filled with some very sweet, tender moments, moments that will most definitely tug at your heart strings, and if you're anything like me there will be more than a few tears along the way.

This is Lloyd-Jones' début novel, and she has done an amazing job with it. Its beautifully written, and filled with emotion you can almost feel on every page. I don't see how it is possible to give this book anything less than 5 stars. I cant wait to see what she writes next.

I received this for my honest review. This has been an amazing read full of emotions that will take you on a roller coaster ride that you really do want to be on, both main characters have an equal pull on you for their struggles of their lives apart from each other and how they are together. This is about ordinary people with normal everyday lives but with deep troubles that when they surface could destroy those who are involved. I really cannot believe this is a debut novel and would highly recommend reading this.

What happens when two broken people recognize each other? In the case of Eve and Billy, Eve runs away both times they meet. Life has not been kind to either of them. This is a story about how love is patient and kind until life gets in the way. You will fall in love with Billy as Eve begins to break down the walls she she has protected herself with. Your heart will break when you discover why Eve and Billy became the people they are. This is a beautifully told story about love, life and loss.

I like how this book came with a warning... *Warning: Contains scenes that some readers may find upsetting* But where was the warning that about the CLIFFHANGER ENDING? I don't have a problem with cliffhangers or series but I like to wait until the series is complete to start. That topped with the fact that the first 30% was on the slow side this one didn't work for me.

This book was something different. Billy and Eve love with the intensity of youth, both bring their own issues to the relationship. Billy's home life is saddening, an abusive father wallowing in grief and a mother suffering one of the most destructive diseases whilst Billy tries to hold everything together. His maturity shines as he helps Eve through some of her anxieties. Once Eve's childhood secrets are revealed both are left reeling and Billy is hit with another powerful blow.

I thought this was a well written, thought provoking read although I didn't feel particularly connected to any of the characters. I would like to know what happens next for these two!

I was honoured to be asked to read this in the very early stages of its editing, and boy, was I glad that I said yes. There are some characters that are created which simply embed themselves into your very core, and Billy and Eve were definitely those kinds of characters for me.

Eleanor Lloyd-Jones has smashed it with her debut novel. This is a story about the kind of love that only happens once in a lifetime and Billy's and Eve's attraction leaps off the pages. There are some heart racing, heartbreaking moments, and there are times when you just have to take a look away, suck in a breath and prepare yourself for what's ahead, but never... not once will you want to put this book down and pull yourself out of their world. I love the fact that it is set in York, too. It just made the whole story all the more real, relatable and beautiful to me.

The characters each had their own struggles, and the issues that surround us all in everyday life weren't hidden or glorified. They were laid out bare for all to see, and for every reader to engage with. Eve, is broken, so broken she thinks there's no hope of her ever being repaired, but Billy (not exactly living the dream life himself) simply refuses, no matter how hard she tries to push him away, to give up on her. Those are the book boyfriends we all love and want to cherish. The ones that make every girl who has ever suffered any kind of heartbreak, believe that there's a Billy out there watching over them, too.

I could go on and on about this real-life romance, but I think it's one of those novels that you should go into as blind as possible. So just take my word for it. Buy the book! Well done to ELJ on this brilliant debut. I wish you all the luck in the world in your publishing life. You've just shown with Housing Elephants how much you deserve to be right in the thick of it.

I was given a copy of Housing Elephants in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this book was well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The beginning a a bit slow but it quickly picks up the pass and your frantically turning the pages to see what happens next. The title of the book has enormous meaning and when you do find out what it is, you’re left with an “oh shit, that’s awesome” feeling. All of the underlying lessons really hit home and you realize that you never really, truly know what is going on in other people’s lives. I felt that the pace was perfect. It wasn’t a case of: she meets him, she falls in love, and that’s all she wrote. They slowly and comfortably got to know each other, they did rush into anything and that was what was so believable about the love story.

Both characters are well written and their backgrounds are nicely laid out. Nothing feels forced which is really nice. Billy won’t let Eve push him away no matter how much she tries. No matter how much Billy is hurting, he is always helping others. He doesn’t let his downfalls hinder him in his efforts to be there for others. Eve has been through so much in her past that she is always on alert. She feels there isn’t anything that can fix her. Both characters are developed well and you feel yourself starting to sympathize with them.

This book was amazing and I felt myself truly feeling for each of these characters. The book was very well laid out, the characters are awesome and any book that can make me cry is a keeper. The ending of the book gutted me, and it ends with an emotional cliffhanger. This book deals with so many issues and you’re bound to be able to hit home in one way or another. I cannot wait to read the follow up to this debut novel. Eleanor has truly captured me as a fan.

4.5 heart-wrenching, yet beautiful STARS!

Wow! This DEBUT novel from Eleanor Lloyd- Jones was just wonderful. It was full of raw emotion that left you reeling and yearning for more. It was heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.

Eve is someone who has been through traumatic events in her life and because of it, has major anxieties in her every day life. She isn’t sure what happened to her, she just knows her over bearing mother made life fairy difficult on her.

Billy was such a wonderful character. I loved his unconditional love for others and the way he wanted nothing more than to help Eve. They always felt connected to each other but because of Eve’s problems, he was forced to chase her- literally at some point. Watching these two characters develop was wonderful.

Housing Elephants is FULL of trigger points, turning points, and heart wrenching realism as you realize that these are problems every day people deal with. Seeing the two overcome everything together was beautiful. The novel was a bit slow for me in the beginning, but it picked up so quickly and as questions started being answered, I had to keep turning the pages to feel satisfied. But one page turned into ten and then ten turned into five chapters and before I knew it, I had finished it in one sitting. The fact that it ends with “to be continued” and the fact that the beginning was a little slow for me, is why it doesn’t receive a full five stars. When I hit 100% on my Kindle, I had tears flowing constantly from my eyes and my heart was aching. I need more and I am so excited to read the next part in the life of Eve and Billy.

Congratulations, Author Eleanor Lloyd-Jones! You did a beautiful job!!

This is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read. From the first page you will fall in love with Billy and Eve as they navigate uncharted territory and learn what it means to love someone completely.
My heart went out to Eve. I couldn't even imagine living with the anxiety that she lived with every single day. The feeling of not being good enough, doing something wrong, not living up to the standard. The reason was even more heartbreaking.
Billy knew he loved her the first time he saw her. She was it for him. Then he left. Torn away from any hope of something that he knows would be the most important thing in his life. But family obligations far outweigh the feelings of a lovestruck teen. Who knew it would all begin again with a lost sketch book?
The patience that Billy had with Eve was amazing. So often in romance novels characters fall in instalove by the third page. This isn't that kind of book. This is the book that makes you fall in love with these characters one word at a time. You know their struggle, and feel their pain. When Billy's hits him you feel it. When Eve runs, you feel the wet grass on your feet. Their friendship is simply beautiful and what happens next is spellbinding.
I have never wanted two characters to heal as much as I wanted Eve and Billy to. They are truly two parts of a whole. Everyone sees it, from Eve's friend to her mother, to Billy's roommate's mother. These two have a connection that goes beyond a typical college romance. Most adults don't have what Billy and Eve have.
The ending had me in tears. It was so real. To say I can't wait until the next book would be an understatement.
This is simply one of the best debut novels I have ever read.

Housing Elephants by Eleanor Lloyd- Jones

5 stars
Reviewed by Gaynor

This is a wonderfully beautiful story although I found it took me a little time to find my pace with it as i was left with a uneasy feeling about how the story was going to progress following the prologue. This played on my mind for a time, however, I soon found myself putting that to the back of my mind and i was unable to put it down. The meaning of the title becomes very clear when the full extent of the issues both Eve and Billy have to contend with are revealed. This book is truly a lesson in that you never know what is underneath the surface. Eve suffers from crippling social anxiety and Billy is a somewhat "lost boy" forced to grow up quickly due to life events beyond his control. Their story is sensitively written and the pace of their love story is believable given the issues that surround them.

Each character is well written and the world which is woven by words is so eloquently described that you really see it as you read. This is not a typical teenage love story and it is refreshingly honest with subjects it tackles. I was almost in tears on occasion trying to comprehend the hurt, yet genuine smiles came at the touching and carefree moments.

Although frustrating at first that it ends on a cliffhanger, I'm now glad it does as i was getting closer to the end and hoping that things would change but knowing there wasn't the time. I am looking forward to the conclusion of their story but i will be prepared with a box of tissues as i think i'm going to need it!

I give this a very highly commended 5 Stars.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book.

I honestly have no idea where to start with this review and summing up my opinion on this amazing book. First of all, I literally cannot believe this is the authors debut novel. It's written so professionally and just like there's tonnes of experience, a truly exceptional talent!
You read this story, and you feel every single page, every paragraph, every sentence and every word. It's such a deep, raw and powerful story, and the characters are just incredible.

Both Eve and Billy have many demons they avoid facing. They skirt around their troubles and just hold on to those elephants that continue to build up in their minds. But, then they connect. They allow themselves to trust each other with every part of themselves, even the parts they consider to be the ugliest.
Their love story is truly one of the greatest I've read, and I need to know how it ends (mean for the cliff hanger)! I won't into detail about what happens of course, but I will say that I cried, laughed, and smiled like an idiot throughout it. It's a perfect combination of; dark, light, sweet, funny, beautiful and heartbreaking.

I really wish I could explain how much I adored Housing Elephants, but I fear it might be impossible. I've read over 200 books this year, and I can guarantee I won't be forgetting about HE, it's one I'll have to add to the repeat list!

If you're thinking about reading this book, please do, you definitely will not regret it!

This book was a little slow at the beginning for me only because I was trying to catch on to the British lingo. But once I got the hang of it I just didn't want to leave it. It was odd but it was like I was leaving a friend without my support but when I did come back I just read and read. Eleanor has such a knack for writing a truly emotional piece. Ok on to my review...

Eve was a broken girl that lived only in her own space. She did this for so long that she would not let anyone near her except her mum and her mate Rachel. lol Had to throw a couple in there.. lol Anyway, Rachel got her out of her space by dragging her to college with her to help get her away and on her own. Although that worked, she still made her own space there that she then didn't step out of often at all. Then at a ball with Rachel, she saw a boy that she once had a connection with back home.

Billy Taylor has had it a bit tough since he was a kid. Between his mom getting dementia, his father losing his love of his life to it, Billy losing the mom that knew him and his father turning to alcohol there was no winning for Billy. The blocks were stacking against him until one day he then saw the only girl that he ever truly connected with.

Although they never dated, they knew there was this pull they both felt towards each other. As that may be some things are never what they seem or what you want them to be. Come fall for these two and love the book......

When I started this book, I had no idea what I would be stepping into, and had never encounted this author before, but let me just say that I wont hestitate to read further work by Eleanor Lloyd-Jones!

Its very rare that a book coomes along, that brings me to sobbing tears, and this book did just that, and I mean proper shoulder shaking tears! This is a beautiful story of Eve, her life and her relationship with Billy. These two are made from each other from the very beginning, and its so heart warming how patient Billy is with Eve, and how much you can tell he genuinely cares for her. Eve is a fantastic character, who I think everyone can relate to in some form or another, and I definately could understand the reasons Eve acted the way she did.

At points throughout this book, I just wished I could reach inside the pages and give the characters a hug and tell them everything would be okay in the end! Of course life never goes as planned and there isnt always a happy ever after, and I think a happy ever after ending would have spoilt this story. Its raw and hard hitting reality.

I cannot wait until the next installment to this story, and I wont hestitate to dive straight in to see how things will end up.

An amazing debut and I cannot recommend this enough! My word isnt enough, it needs to be read!

WOW! I was not expecting this story, but CONGRATS Eleanor Lloyd-Jones, you have made the list of authors trying to kill me! You seemed so nice, but that ending was just evil! Eve Swallow is living locked up in darkness, not hardly able to leave the house. She feels she's never quite good enough in the eyes of her controlling mother. Her passion for art and music is her place of safety. Billy has been living in his own nightmare. He has a sick mother who doesn't recognize him, and a drunk father that likes to use his fists. He feels empty, until he meets Eve. Can these two lost souls heal each other?

Housing Elephants is an emotional roller coaster ride from hell, that ripped my heart out, then stomped on it. The character development is good, and a realistic, well written story line flows well. It took me a bit to understand what was going on, but once I did, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Eleanor Lloyd-Jones shows the raw and gritty side of love, and the emotions felt realistic. That cliff hanger ending was just plain mean, and I almost threw my kindle across the room. The next book can't come quickly enough for me, and I happily recommend! 4.5 Heart Wrenching Stars!

I received a copy of Housing Elephants by Eleanor Lloyd Jones in return for an honest review.
First things first.... This book ends on one hell of an emotional cliffhanger that had me ugly snot bubble crying, which is of course the sign of a great author but something I normally avoid like the plague!
HOWEVER....
Housing Elephants is definitely not your typical frivolous romance read. It is griity, real and packed full of emotions that leave you needing to hug yourself!
Eve and Billy are two equally troubled souls that are drawn to each other. Both have endured more than people of their age should.
Billy has given up on his dreams, giving all of himself to helping his dad cope with his grief, when all he wants is the love of his parents.
Eve believes what her mother has made her feel, that she is and never will quite be good enough. She has locked herself away from life.
When Billy enters her life again, there is something there that draws them to one another but are they two halves of a whole or are they simlpy too broken to withstand being together.
Eleanor has written a truly emotional rollercoaster of a debut book.
I NEED the next book like RIGHT now though

I received a copy for an honest review.

This one was a bit slow in the beginning and had a lot of repetitive scenes. Eve and Billy have two very drastic private lives and one can wonder how they strongly survive.

Billy sees Eve for the second time and is very generous and kind to her. Eve I wonder, how she manages class with almost everything setting her off. She has triggers in almost every daily task especially socially. She has a great friendship with her best friend and lives a very sheltered life.

Billy has his own demons to deal with and even though he is already an adult, he should not have toe deal with the torment from his father. He's broken in so many ways that finding a connection with Eve allows and escape.Housing Elephants

This is an emotional read and only disliked that until the very end did all the secrets get revealed. This was only before finding out that after all they've been through fate is still unknown.

I was given this book for my honest review

The song “Climb Every Mountain” by, Rodgers and Hammerstein comes to mind when reading this book. The lyrics of the song brings a light that has been darkened for so long to Billy and Eve.

To the author: There really are not any words to describe this amazing read. You brought forth a coming that happens in everyday lives with care, subtlety, strength and love that bounds two together without knowing how much till the very end. You showed strength, heart and love with Billy. With Eve you brought forgiveness, love and strength but you also brought forth a different kind of depth within this read that your readers will not only cling to but will hang onto till the very last word is read. You created surprises amongst the characters that will have the “Oh No” and the “I’m So Sorry” factors going wildly in this book but in the end you captured the “Awe” factor. Major Kudos

Happy Reading

Any book that mentions amazing wangers is a hit by me!!!!  The whole book was amazingly English, I love that!!

Two people, damaged...can they heal each other?

This book was heartbreaking. From the prologue, I had an idea about what might unfold and waiting for it made me feel physically sick.....what a horrid realisation.

This book was so well written and the story is beautiful, I couldnt believe it was authors first book! You must, must read this book....and then aside a few hours cause you cannot leave this story....

The ending...could've thrown my kindle out the window! It's a cliffy and I couldve cried!

READ THIS BOOK IF:

You’re looking for a realistic romance with a hint of soulmates ;)
You want a book about heavy subjects without the graphics
You have a bulk supply of tissues on hand

Housing Elephants is about the terrible moments in life that we try to forget about, the very real and painful elephants in the room that can only be ignored for so long before they completely trample you. There’s plenty of heartache, agony, embarrassment, and disappointment but there’s also love-pure, honest love.

I am not sure how I feel about this book. It was a very emotional read. It was a little bit on the dark side which isn’t my usual preference. The story was very well developed. I learned more and more about Eve and Billy as the story went along. They were both tortured souls that found each other.
The ending is the part that did not sit well with me. After so much pain and heartache and the way the story was going, the ending was super sad. The ‘to be continued’ notation does give me a little bit of hope. I thought it was very well written and a good story, but I hope there is a second book, and that Eve and Billy can find happiness.

Oh my days! This is the first book by Eleanor Lloyd Jones that I have read and I can’t believe I have waited so long!

This book was amazing and so beautifully written. I loved Billy and Eve with such a passion, I don’t think I’ll ever forget these two.... ever!

The subjects the story covered were delicately thought out and written with such feeling you can’t help but fall so in love with this book. It was an emotional read and I cannot believe this is the authors debut novel! WOW!

ELJ is definitely one of my new favourite authors and I can’t wait to read more from her.

The words of Pink Floyd "we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl" come to mind. Two people who touched each other's lives in a way that no one else had. Billy is a man you would want to know, he sometimes just doesn't know it. Eve is a woman more capable than she is able to admit. An enjoyable read.

Ok so where to start I'm not sure after finishing this book I'm a little emotionally dazed.
This is a really well written book the author gives you no choice but to step into the MC shoes and feel her emotions and see the world threw her eyes! She really draws you in and holds you there!
Both MC's are well rounded and the realness to the storyline was great I loved it!
