It’s 1925 and Paris is the city of romance and exotic fashion. Treasure Gilroy is a famous model living in the heart of this dazzle, working between London, New York and Milan. Then suddenly and inexplicably she vanishes from her opulent lifestyle. Having inherited her grandmother’s estate, Treasure journeys back to a beautiful valley on the other side of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, outback Australia. She travels with her best friend, Ella, who is English and works as a French hair coiffeur. They’ve been friends for a few years, but there is something mysterious about Ella and neither woman can explain their déjà vu bond. When Treasure meets her grandmother’s lawyer, Connor Latham, who is a returned World War I fighter pilot, passions ignite; yet Connor alternates between sizzling and icy when they are together. Will Treasure lose her heart to him? Family secrets are discovered and skeletons in the closet revealed. Finally Treasure gains understanding of the many uncertainties facing her. As she forges new beginnings, the sadness in her heart begins to dissipate. Where does belief in God fit in? Treasure has been brought up without any knowledge of Jesus, so sees no necessity for him. Will she come to an understanding about God’s unconditional love for her? Does she receive the free gift offered, or does she reject it? This Christian romance stirs magic in the mind and music to the soul.
Romance dances in the mind of author Crystal Mary Lindsey. Living in the Land Down Under - she enjoys placing her fantasies on paper to stir the hearts of other dreamers. Her medical knowledge comes from professional experience (BSN) and her Christian understanding as a Bible College graduate. Crystal lives with her American husband in the sub tropics of Queensland, Australia, amid mango, avocado, and sugar cane plantations. She is a mother of four and grandmother of ten.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review. I am very happy that I was able to read review this book! This is a sweet Christian Romance that involves high fashion, mystery, the Outback, a small village and many relationships. Ella and Treasure leave the high society life behind to travel to the Outback as Treasure inherits her grandmother's house. The book is about self discovery, finding God, finding family, finding love and finding a real enjoyment of life. It is charming, delightful and fresh. I do not normally read this genre, but I was looking for a book that would fill my heart. This book absolutely did that! I can't wait to read other books by this wonderful author!
What a wonderful and enthralling Christian Romance! Thank you Crystal for such an amazingly written book. Treasure is her name and what a treasure she is. From the high life of glitz and glam as a model to just one day up and leave it to head for the land of Oz (Austrailia) in the outback of New South Wales. She takes along her friend Ella. Ella seems like she's a bit quirky, but they have remained friends for quite some time. The venture to Austrailia is because she has been notified of an inheritance of her late grandmother. She soon meets the handsome Connor and the as you can guess it that's where it begins.
The author keeps the interest of the reader throughout the entire story. Treasure and Ella have a connection from the moment they meet, but, they are not sure why. Their lives and experiences together are loving and kind, as two friends who deeply care about each other. Letters from a deceased relative give the girls the truth about their connection. This story has love, faith, laughter and commitment. Very good story. I look forward to reading more by Crystal Mary Lindsey.
If you enjoy reading fictional Christian romance and stories of a bygone era, then this a the book for you. Treasure had a perfect life, it would seem, living in Europe in the early 1900's, until circumstances would bring her back to a small outback town in Australia. Family secrets would be revealed and Treasure would find God, love and a new family. This heartwarming story tells of a woman's life and how she found happiness where she least expected to find it.
This is the second book I have read of Crystal Mary Lindsey's. So far, it my favorite and was a delight to read. The characters were well developed and I loved the time period of the storyline. It gave me a glimpse into the past and a sense of the Australian way of life which was very interesting.
The story had a some unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing what would happen next. I enjoyed going along with Treasure and Ella as they exchanged their Parisian life for one in the Australian countryside of Vision Valley. The story showed how even strangers that seemed so different from the rest of the town could fit in and be accepted. The story tells of Christian love, blessings, and times where the town all pulled together.
Discovering Treasure is part clean, sweet romance with a touch of mystery and joyful humor thrown in. I was hooked in the first few pages. If had everything that I look for in Christian fiction and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is a lovely story. The relationship between Treasure and Ella is absolutely heartwarming and the romance which comes along for Treasure and Connor is sweet and very natural. I love the other characters too, especially Kelvin and Nellie. They are bit players but the characters are so nicely developed that they, along with the rest of the cast, are very memorable. It is a tender story which has happy endings for more than just the hero and heroine, which was so nice to see. And there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, that's for sure. It draws you into the story quickly and holds on to you until the lovely ending. I was given this book as a gift and am certainly glad that I was. I can certainly recommend it.
Treasure Gilroy went back to Australia. Something troubling, prompted her to drop her bright profession in Paris, and go and pursue a fresh start? Disgraceful confidences surfaced. A letter was brought by World War 1 retired fighter pilot named Connor Latham. He sensed Treasures pain, and he sympathized with her. Passion and love blossomed between them but even so; Connor had doubts about the two of them. He himself was not physically whole; he had to wear a leg prosthesis. Discovering TREASURE is a clean inspirational romance. It is a story of learning to trust God when times are tough. There are Christian values-laden throughout it. It is mysterious, and there are times the unexpected pops up which kept it very interesting. It is a fascinating tale with a great message.
A truely interesting story with a lot of inspirational overtones
I liked the story from the beginning to the end. I have always wondered about people who use only one name (Madona, Cher etc) but so early in the book it is explained that Treasure will always be known by the one name, The setting from Australia to Paris and the warm an interesting characters< in particular Treasure and Ella. Treasure's return to Australia after the life in Europe makes the story even more enthralling as does showing the family, love and God's mercy and redemption. I highly recommend this Christian Romance book
Sister Crystal Mary Lindsey pens a grand story in Discovering Treasure. First, I like that "Treasure" is the character's name, and how it relates to the story is so fitting. Lindsey always writes in a way that gives the reader the sense of faith and inspiration that she puts into her writing and characters. It's not the first book by Lindsey that I've read, and I'm a quest to read all of her books. The writing style brings the reader in, and doesn't let them go. The characters have depth and are on a personal journey, of love, life and faith. Treasure and Connor have that chemistry that is unwritten, but brings the story together. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Come join me on Treasure's journey from Australia to Europe and back. She return's to her maternal grandmother's home and here she finds family, love and god's mercy and redemption. I enjoyed the deep complex characters, the setting of early 20th century Australia and the compelling storyline. I recommend this book for those who like Christian fiction.
I found this book very entertaining with good information about salvation interwoven with a beautiful story. I was drawn in by the characters and their relationships to each other. The great book to sit back and read when you need something that will make you happy and help you understand God's love and his plan for our lives.
I don’t understand why authors go to all the trouble to write a book, then not have the forethought to hire an editor. This book is filled with grammatical and spelling errors. And I’m not talking about the spelling differences between US and Australian words. This could also use formatting. Many times there were no paragraph indents.
This was a refreshing light holiday read for me. My interest was centered on the two delightful young women who bond and spiritually grow together, whilst contributing to a community they adopt as their extended family. There are no nasty dramatic highs or lows - just enough promises of intrigue and wholesome romantic attachments to peak the interest along the way and which unrolled into satisfactory outcomes. There was a balance of men and women characters. Each were plausible individuals and endearing without being soppy nor unreal. Their life journeys gave the reader a clear idea of what godly character can be; what spiritual growth can achieve. A Christian reader could possibly relate to at least one of the common spiritual experiences presented authentically, such as when a character was seeking direction from God, had the desire for water baptism, or to commit to the use of a particular God-given gift. The gospel message was clearly presented and was a credit to the author's ingenuity in how she wove it through the story's thread without giving the reader the impression of being "preached at". The usual plot development of drama was not apparent. Instead there was a pleasant ongoing sharing of everyday activities in various settings and contexts, romance without melodrama, and no involvement of villains. It would probably be a safe recommendation for teenage girls or young at heart women seeking a holiday from the real dramas of this world.
