A Wife and a River

Rate this book
When a young, pretty woman interviews for the cashier position at his tackle shop, Trevor Dawber rethinks his prayer request. Mae was NOT what he had in mind when he asked four elderly women to pray for him in hiring his first employee. She was just the kind of lure he didn’t need in his fishing store.

This is a truly delightful love story. I am not a fisherman by any stretch of the imagination, but this story about a tackle store owner who is in need of an employee is just wonderful. The fishing parts I totally enjoyed. The majority of the story revolves around two people and how their relationship develops. I thoroughly enjoyed every single word and highly recommend this story. Sherri's other books have a humorous side and this one is no exception.

Another good fishing story

I enjoy Sherri's writing style. The story starts immediately with no long winded intro, but you can identify with each character as they weave into the story and plot. The story has enough ups and downs to keep you reading. It's well written with heart and humour. The characters are well developed, and none are exempt from God's mercy. Loved the lead characters Mae and Trevor and the supporting characters all helped build the plot so well. The importance of prayer was beautifully highlighted. A recommended read for anyone who enjoys inspirational romance.

Who says fishing can't bring a couple together? Take one look at Trevor Dauber and you'll fall hook, line & sinker. There are plenty of fish in the sea (ok enough with the cheesy lines lol!), but when Trevor meets Mae, he got a lot more than he bargained for. Wonderful Christian romance, and loved the narration also. I'm glad to have found it, and would definitely listen to more from both author and narrator :)

Fishing for Life

Because Trevor owns a tackle shop and is an avid fisherman, this story is 'brimming' with information about his love of fishing, his knowledge of casting, and the right lures for each kind of fish. Trevor rejects Mae as his 'tackle girl' at first until his realizes his mistake and can't help the feelings that grow to match his dream. A delightful story of faith, the power of prayer, and the second chances that God gives us.

Great book especially if you like fishing. I have fly fished around Seattle and Ketchikan Alaska and I recognized the terminology. I also started tying flys in Alaska. I liked that it was a clean Christian romance. I am recommending it to my brother who also has fly fished in streams.

So much fun to read. My husband and I both enjoyed this book. His reaction was, “We need to find more books by this author.”

Sherri Shoenborn Murray book A Wife and a River, gives us romance in a unexpected place, laughter, praying elderly ladies, and bunch of busybody fisherman.

With great descriptions she had me wanting to live in a cabin, to visit the tackle shop, to go fishing (now), and last but not least, wanting to be in the elderly ladies prayer group!

With so many great characters through out this book, my favorite was just hard to pin down. I guess if pressed, I would say it would be Mae. She shines with her love of fishing, she is hardworking, loving, willing to learn, and most of all, a praying woman.

Although this book kept my interest throughout it really picked up in the middle for me. I didn't want to put it down. Sounds like I'm in for a series and I can't wait to read more. Wonderful and unique story line!

I was given this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.

A Wife and a River
: Sherri Schoenborn Murray

A sweet clean Christian romance. When two people that love fishing meet things start on a fun filled adventure. The quirky characters grow on the listener as the story developed. There are some humorous moments and some that will make you hold your breath.

I read the Kindle e-book a year back, but when I was able to get the audiobook version I knew I wanted to listen.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Alex Hyde-White, Bo Hudson make this audiobook even more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it on my kindle, it was free on Amazon. At first I thought, oh this looks like it will be cheesy and drab, but it wasn't at all. It's about a man who owns a tackle shop, whose wife left him 4 yrs ago because he spent to much time on the river. He asks his prayer group to pray with him about a dream he's had...and I'll stop there! Great encouraging read, Christian fiction/romance genre.

I found this book a little hard to get into reading. This is the 3rd work I've read by Ms. Sherri Schoenboorn Murray. It took awhile, but I found myself liking it a little bit better as time went on. Since it's a fishing romance, it was not easy for me to "take the bait." It's a sweet clean romance and I'm appreciative of that. But it's not the author's strongest work. My favorite book, thus far, is "Sticky Notes" so I'm sticking with that!

If you are looking for a good clean book, this is it. A snapshot of a time before women were treated with equal respect (no need to be a women's libber). A peek of how men could be so stubborn (still are) where women are concerned. This story of life in fishing territory is like taking a breath of fresh air.

Amazing author!

I've read every single book from this author! I LOVE all of them! I like that there is a little bit of romance but it's not gross or graphic. The author really tells a story and then weaves a little bit of romance in! Great story!!

Great if you like fishing

I don't even like to eat fish, let alone go fishing. It was a sweet story with way too many details about fishing for me.
