I am Damien Cole. Manager of Dallas’ Top Tattoo Shop “The Boneyard.” I play the game by my own set of rules. I discard women left and right. Their only purpose is to cater to my sexual appetite. No woman will ever tame my bad boy ways. I am at the top of my game.
Summer: I am Summer Montgomery. My face has graced magazine covers all across the world. My looks will deceive you. I am a bad girl with a smart ass mouth and the attitude to back it up. Playing with me is like playing with fire. I will consume you and swallow you whole.
When faced with temptation, which of these two badasses will fall first?
Kristina Borden resides in Corsicana, Tx with her husband. Kristina's only child is her fur baby, a Shih-Tzu named Chew.
Kristina is an emerging author breaking into the Indie community with her first book releasing late 2015: The Imperfect Gift.
Kristina is a multi-genre author. Her current WIPS include a New Adult Romance and a Dark Erotica project.
She enjoys getting to know people and loves to hear when someone is touched or moved by her writing. Her passion for writing is driven by her need to inspire others, touch someone's life, and simply share with the world the characters she brings to life on her pages.
I struggled to connect with the main couple and since this is listed as romance, well it’s a pretty key ingredient. While it seems that Summer, 26, is supposed to be presented as tough, she comes off wishy washy in the opening scene, initially believing her current boyfriend and her are something special even though he’s doing drugs and seeing other girls. But my ultimate decision to DNF was based off Damien, 27. He wasn’t faithful to Summer when they dated as teenagers, and now in the present he is a manwhore. While at the same time he’s contemplating making things right with Summer, he’s also picking up one night stands at the bar. Officially I bailed at 13%, however, skimming ahead to make sure the story didn’t drastically improve and I just needed to hold out a little longer, I read a few additional scenes that determined that the story definitely was not for me.
There is just far too much drama (as in the daytime TV variety) for my enjoyment. If you like characters with a lot of baggage and plot twists often seen on the soaps, then this might be the right read for you; but unfortunately it didn’t appeal to me.
I was lucky enough to have received an ARC on this much anticipated book but for me it fell short of my expectations.
OK the writing was good but the execution of the storyline and the characters was not to my exact liking.
I felt Damien and Summer were quite immature for their ages and their behavior at times had me cringing.
I loved the underlying premise of the story and the writing was good but for me I needed more. Damien and Summer were both very difficult characters for me to truly like. Damien's manwhore ways carried on FAR TOO long for me, it was actually a turn-off. Summer was crude, a tease and just plain immature. I felt her badass exterior was taken too far and that alone along with some of the things that came out of her mouth also turned me off.
I really liked the ending but I felt it was too rushed for me. After all they had endured and especially the circumstances at the end, I would have liked to have seen that play out "better" for me for lack of a better word.
Author Kristina Borden has a lot of potential to grow and I truly wish her the best. Maybe some good beta feedback could do her some great justice in the future!!!!! I am definitely interested in reading Cash's story, if there will be one, and I hope to see her writing, her storyline and her characters "mature" and grow in the future because she has the right potential for that to happen!

I tried. I really tried. This book was a little rough for me. It wasn't really my type of book, but I stuck with it. Kept going. Then at 87 percent it just got so crazy, I gave up. I mean.... what?????
Dared (The Boneyard Bad Boys Series-Book1) by Author Kristina Borden is a standalone in The Boneyard Bad Boys Series and my very first read by this author. I was really looking forward to this book and as much as I liked it, I found that I just couldn’t love it. I am a very picky reader, I like what I like and I do have reading preferences and boundaries that from time to time I don’t mind crossing as long as it is done in a mature way. Most of the boundaries that were crossed, unfortunately for me, were done in the most immature way and for that I found that I couldn’t fully connect nor invest with the main characters at times.
It is very rare for me to dislike both of the main characters. At times, I may have a clear winner from the start and a dark horse, who ends up shining in the end. Damien and Summer were both hard to truly love and yet, as much as I disliked them at times, they did grow on me. Unfortunately, by the end, I did like them but wasn’t in love with them if that makes sense. I am hoping to get a glimpse and/or catch-up with them in the next book because as much as they had grown by the end, I would love to see them continue to grow as well as see where life has taken them. What makes me sad and disappointed is that this book truly did have a lot of potential with the storyline as well as the characters. I could see and understand the underlying story, I could understand both characters and why they were the way they were but what I couldn’t relate to was the execution of the storyline and the characters by this author. I believe with the right amount of tweaking here and there throughout, this could have had the makings of a GREAT story.
Damien, oh Damien, he was a very hard character to fall in love with. The very start of this book had my heart breaking for him and he really had a very rough childhood. I could understand why he felt the way he did and why he chose the wild lifestyle BUT to a point. Damien and Summer really had the best and most beautiful, sincere friendship and I was so taken in by their “love” for one another. As graduation is nearing, Damien finds himself in a “predicament” and in order to “save” the girl he cares for, he makes a pretty tough decision that will impact the both of them for the next 8 years.
Damien had some really good qualities but unfortunately for him and for me as well, he continued his wild lifestyle for far too long. For a man in his late 20’s, he behaved like an irresponsible and selfish teenager and I was almost ready to give up on him completely until about halfway through the book. There is a pivotal moment that resonates with him, thank goodness, and it’s then that he starts to redeem himself. He starts on a self-discovery path that truly made my heart full of joy. Damien deserved life’s best and yet he was his own worst enemy and sadly, he needed to hit rock bottom before making his way into the light. I loved watching his character mature and grow, it was heartfelt.
Now Summer, hmmmm, she was equally as hard to like. She came across overly confident, crass and very immature. She was tough, badass as some readers have referred to her as, me, I say she was cocky, crude and behaved like a young teen at times. At 26 years old, I did expect much more maturity from her character. Some of the things that came out of her mouth made me cringe and yet she definitely had a good side to her as well. She had a great childhood and her friendship with Damien was so genuine and so sweet that I understood her apprehension to let herself feel again for him. She, like Damien, made some really bad and immature decisions and neither one of them acted their age. On the other hand, I did enjoy seeing them both see the error in their ways and I was rooting for them to finally see what everyone else could see and that was the sincere love they felt for one another. I was rooting for them to let go of their insecurities and embrace what was staring them in the face.
The latter half of the book was far better for me than the first half but I felt the ending was too rushed considering some of the circumstance they had endured. For me, I felt that there was a lot of “foolishness” taking up much of the book and I would have liked to see more of a slow, build-up between Damien and Summer and in a more mature way than how it was done. The ending left me with a huge smile but it was not an easy ride for me to take with them and at times, I wanted to give up. I am so glad that I stayed on course with Damien and Summer because it definitely was worth the long and bumpy road.
I am hoping that there will be a book on Cash and assume there will be because the ending of this story really had me intrigued. Cash’s life appeared to be ready to take on a major detour in the way of love and I would definitely look forward to seeing how the author will execute her storyline, how much her writing “matures”, and most importantly how she handles her characters in the future!
Author Kristina Borden, I can see potential growth in your books to come because the storyline is there and I wish you the best. I feel the road has now been paved for you and with time, I can see a beautiful future with your books to come.
What I Loved: I really liked the plot of this book, it was original enough that it caught my attention and I’m a huge fan of second chance romances. I loved that Damien and Summer not only once loved each other but that they were best friends too, and that throughout their childhood it was Summer sticking up for Damien not the other way around.
I love strong female characters that don’t take shit from no body and Summer fits that bill one hundred percent. She stands up for herself when she needs to and kicks ass! Right away you know exactly what type of girl Summer is and although she changes and matures as the story goes on she holds true to who she really is. She’s confident and has her shit together, she’s not some shy inexperienced girl who needs to be saved. Usually Summer is the one doing the saving!
The chemistry between Summer and Damien comes roaring to life the minute Damien and Summer see each other after so many years apart and I couldn’t wait to for them to rip each other’s clothes off. I loved the constant back and forth between the two of them because it just built the sexual tension up more and more, making this story very enjoyable. When they finally come together it was awesome and it was great to see these two fall in love. I loved that Summer knew what she wanted with Damien and was ready to jump in and make a life with him, it just proved she’s the type of lady who knows what she wants and goes after it.
Not So Much: I really loved the plot and the characters as well, Summer is one strong female and I absolutely worship her! Saying that, from the beginning the story felt robotic and the flow was broken at times. A lot of the sentences were fragmented or I would see several sentences in a row that would begin with the same word. When that happens it comes off too structured and not natural feeling, making it harder to get emotionally involved with the plot. If the sentences were strung together rather than separate or there were more transitions the flow would’ve been a lot smoother making the story feel more real.
Also there was so much detail in this book, which I loved because so many times authors gloss over important things that Dared had plenty of. But there were times when there was too much of that and not enough action or conversation. There were entire pages that would consist of just paragraphs of thoughts and details but not enough of that the character was doing or saying. It’s a balance that’s hard to achieve and I get that, but for me to really picture what is going on and net get too bogged down in a character’s thoughts there needs to be more conversations or a break up of all the introspections.
Another thing that kind of bothered me was the ending because it just became too unbelievable for me. I get that this is fiction and none of this real so why complain that it’s not realistic because it’s not supposed to be. I don’t have issues with unrealistic aspects but when the plot takes on medical impossibilities I kind of start to cringe inside. The plot just took this left turn that instead of coming off dramatic and heartfelt came off to me as a little too ridiculous. I don’t like to knock plots but for me I love stories that are grounded or gritty and this one went just a little too far for me to grasp.
This book was a great read. You have 2 strong willed feisty characters.
Damien a tattoo artist, womanizing, single man. Thinks he is gods gift to women. He is the one time only kinda guy, he never goes back for seconds. Summer a New York Runway model, has the looks but is unlucky in love. She is strong and has no problem speaking her mind. These two used to be best friend growing up one could not be found with out the other close by. During their senior year in high school things change causing Summer to leave and not look back.
Fast forward * years later Summer has decided to return home but the last person she expects to see is Damien.
I loved the chemistry of these two. Summer and Damien's game of one-upping each other is comical yet entertaining to read. Summer gives Damien a run for his money. He realizes that he has met his match with her. Summer is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with Damian. She actually out thinks and out wins Damien on several occasions. This is not your stereotypical best friend romance but it is fun to read these two go at it verbally and in the bed room.
There were times while reading this book where I felt the story was missing and I had to assume things did or did not happen. How an author writes a book is how it is interpreted. It should not be a game of assumptions. If the author does not write it how do we as readers actually know if the event happened? There were some times where the dialoged fell flat. All in all this was a good story. I did thoroughly enjoyed it.
Summer and Damien have a story of love lost and then found. They grew up together and without any explanation Damien disappears from her life. Summer moves to New York to live out her modeling dream. She thinks all is well until her boyfriend Cameron can't keep his hands to himself. Thinking she just needs to get away for awhile she goes back home to help her mom. Only she ends up even more confused than before. Damien hasn't been able to get Summer off his mind for the past eight years. When her mom, his boss, tells him he needs to pick her up from the airport, all those feelings come back. Summer is back and he doesn't know how to handle it. He does have a bit of explaining to do. Would you be able to be friends with your only love after so much time? This story proves that sometimes good things do come to those who wait. They have a hot and steamy flirtatious back and forth relationship. That is until one night together changes their whole world.
Title: Dared (The Boneyard Bad Boy # 1) Series: The Boneyard Bad Boys Series Author: Kristina Borden Genre: Romance Stars: 5/5 Stars Published: Feb 23, 2016 Publisher: Borden Publishing Pages: 186
Five Amazing Stars! Damien is your handsome, playboy, and a bad boy through and through manager of the tattoo shop. Summer is a beautiful women with the right kind of attitude. Summer met Damien and together their chemistry is through the roof. I really enjoyed this book the story flowed and the characters were fantastic! I highly recommend this book you will not regret it! This is the first book in The Boneyard Bad Boy Series and I can't wait for the next book!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria Alpha Book Club.
3.5 stars With this description of Damien sexy ultimate bad boy, fucking drool worthy, absolutely fuck worthy gorgeous you have sold me. Then you add a kick ass female character Summer, author rarely write female character like this, she's tough, will your kick ass and is full of attitude. This girl has balls, while kicking out her cheating loser boyfriend instead of the usual throwing his clothes out she went that one step further and set it on fire, badassery. The two of them are reuniting after a long absence, they were bestie growing up but Damien at that point could only offer friendship and Summer wanted more. This is about the both of them fighting their demons and seeing if they are brave enough to take their relationship to the next level.
Damien & Summer have a long history but Damien has too many demons standing in the way for a future. After a long time apart Summer needs to go home and find herself little did she know her feelings for Damien would come crashing back full force. The games these two play are Hot hot hot. The sexual tension will burn up your eReader. When things finally come to a head and Summer lays it out there for Damien he once again lets those demons lead him away from Summer. It's hard to say who should make the first move but they end up doing it at the same time. Things go from starting to come together to things kind of falling apart again. Its a long road but they finally find their way back to what was always meant to be. The sex scenes where off the charts hot. The ending was fantastic.
Once again this Author has blown me away. So talented...what a wonderful love story filled with a lot of angst. My favorite sexy romances are characters that are dripping with angst. Damien Cole so bad ass and Summer has returned to fire him all up and give him a what for. Summer tough, smart mouth heroine someone I could see being my BFF is she strong enough to handle Damien Cole....You must read to find out does love win or is the past to hard to overcome!!! This book will grab you from the beginning and carry you through an emotional ride right to the very end!!! Highly recommended for everyone who loves a good angst!!!
'I had been dared to love and I was not about to walk away from the biggest challenge of my life.' Damien
Summer and Damien have a game they play. They try to top one another at every turn. And it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. Damien and Summer both play a hard game. They just can't win when the game is made to lose. Because let's face it no one wins when you try to hurt the ones you love. Even if neither will admit they are in love. It's like a train wreck you can see coming a mile away and still can help but watch or read in this case.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. Great story from new author! Summer and Damien have past and maybe a future?Great chemistry but will it work out ? Steamy sex, romance, family drama, plot twists,MC Alpha! Really liked the storyline between the two of them ! Hopefully we will see some others from this book in the next one! 5 plus stars! Great start to a new series. .
I wanted to love it but I had to suspend my disbelief on one too many plot points. Important parts of the relationship were not developed as much as I felt they should have been.
So, I am very torn on what to say about this book. I guess I will start with saying that I liked it. This was a very quick, easy read that had quite a bit going on so there was no getting bored with it. There were also some surprises sprinkled throughout so you definitely did not know what was coming next. I do wish I had known that this was kind of a second chance romance. While I certainly don't have any thing against second chance romance, I actually quite like them, the book description did not give any indication that this book would be one. I did not know that our main characters Summer and Damien had known each other all their lives and after failing to make a go of things in high school, they are now considering giving it another try as adults.
And then there was Summer. She is the heroine of this book and she was definitely a bad ass. She decided very early on in the book that she was done taking crap from people, especially men. With this decision made she returns to her home town ready to start over and figure some things out. She reinforces this decision repeatedly from the way she deals with guys who rudely spill drinks on her without an apology to the way she handles guys who make assumptions about the way things are going to go with her whether it be Damien or anyone one else. However, there were a couple of moments where I did not love her. Maybe it’s just me and the awesome relationship I have with my mother, but there was a moment or two that I didn't think it was ok for her to talk to her mother the way she did. But otherwise I appreciated her standing up for herself with the men around her who thought they could control things, and I loved that she made Damien work for the chance to be with her and did not just roll over and give him everything the moment he said he was interested.
And finally there was Damien. This is the character that really had me torn. This is the character that prevented me from giving this story any more stars. Now don't get me wrong, I like a guy who starts off as a jerk and then eventually grows into a more caring and expressive person. Hell, I don't even mind if they remain a jerk to everyone but the heroine. But I think Damien might have been too much of a jerk for me. The way he used women, even when he was upfront and honest with them so they knew what they were getting themselves into, I could have gotten past. But it seemed like he had a general disregard and borderline disrespect for women’s feelings, even Summer’s, and that was hard for me to get around. Some of his actions when she came back on the scene had me seriously questioning his love for her, and while I know he was certain at this time that love and any kind of long term relationship was not in the cards for him, to me his actions weren’t those of a person who even had feelings for her at all. I don’t like it when my leading man continues to hook up with other women, but tries to act like he has a claim on the leading lady at the same time. Also, while I like my men to be alphas and sure of themselves, Damien was occasionally too cocky and it kind of made the jerk aspect stand out even more. He does change though, and as the story progresses he gets better. But I can’t say he ever really grew on me.
Over all, I still recommend this story, and I think this author has amazing potential. I look forward to seeing what she comes out with next.

This book has your HEA. This book tells the story of Damien Cole and Summer Montgomery. This book could be read as a standalone. This is the first book of the Boneyard Bad Boy Series. This book was good but it took me a bit to get into this book. It takes you a bit to start getting into the characters and to understand their history and their current time. I felt that there was some that the book should have covered in the beginning that would have told you where the book was taking you. Summer is a model that has been on many magazines. She is beautiful and has the personality that you would never expect from a classy model. She is bad girl with a mouth that runs but she is also not afraid to try and back up anything that she says. She was very close to her parents. She lost her dad and she felt lost in life. After catching her boyfriend cheating one too many times she decides she needs a break from the fast pace modeling life. She heads back home to all the things and people that she left there many years ago. Damien Cole is one of the top tattoo artist in Dallas, TX. He has spent years perfecting his trade and his life. He was given the chance of a life when he was just 18 years old. He took that chance and made the best he could for himself. Due to his past with his mother he has never let another women close to him. He will never take the chance to let another women hurt him the way that his mom did. His life has always been bed them and leave them. Summer is picked up at the airport by the one person that she never expected, her best friend 10 years ago, Damien. She is shocked and surprised but has no choice but to go with him. Her mom has set her up in her rental house. Damien tries to explain what happen all those years ago but she does not allow him. Little does he know that she already knows because her dad told her? All the past years come flooding back to them when they get together. They remember what they once had. They try and get that back but it goes further than what he was ready for. She bears her sole to him and after all these years tells him how she really feels about him. He is scared and does not know how to handle that. She does the only thing that she has always done when things get tuff that is run. It takes Damien’s best friend to give him the slap in the face that he needs to see what he is missing out on. He has to step up to the plate and get his love back
Dared is the first book in the Boneyard Bad Boys Series and it's also the first book I have read by Kristina. I look forward to reading more about these bad boys!
Summer left Dallas after she graduated high school and moved to New York to pursue a modeling career. Eight years later, she has become a top model but she is ready to go back to her roots and with that she will being seeing the man that broke her heart. The man that she was best friends with since they were six years, the one she loved but never truly went past friendship with. She should hate him for ending things before they had the chance but she never could hate the one that she could never forget...
Damien is lost. He hasn't seen Summer for eight years since he walked away. She confused him. He has had many one night stands that he never looked back on but with Summer, he knew if he had one night with her, it wouldn't be enough. She made him feel and that was dangerous for him. He didn't really know what love is but he knows he would die for Summer. Protect her at any cost and never wanted to see her hurt. And if that meant he couldn't be with her then so be it. But he wanted her. She challenged him. Called him out on his bullshit, and her badass attitude made her even hotter. And the look in her eyes showed him she wanted him just as much. But can they stop playing games and be together?
Damien and Summer's relationship is crazy fun. They know how to push each other's buttons, bring each other to their knees, and hit where it counts. It's hilarious, and the sexual tension makes it even better. It is also frustrating as fuck at times, I wanted to slap them both at some point.
Now, my love of Summer! Omg...I love her. She might look innocence with her blonde hair and blue eyes but she is one badass chick!
Overall, I thought it was a great book. If the next book is about a certain bad boy then I am sure that one with be just as good or even better.
Quotes:
"Oh Damien, Damien, Damien. Baby, you are the little leagues and I only play in the majors."
“My house, my rules. You had your fun and now it's my turn. Don't like the rules, you can leave. Unless you are choosing that option, I suggest you lay back and shut up and let me show you what it feels like to meet your match.”
Title: Dared (The Boneyard Badboy Series- Book 1) Author: Kristina Borden Genre: Romance My Rating: 4 out of 5 JBI Stars
So, all in all I really liked this book. The storyline was great and definitely grabbed my attention. I don't usually like second chance stories but this one was actually pretty good.
Damien Cole- The ultimate badboy! Manager of a local tattoo shop. Sexy and cocky, that's one lethal combination. Summer Montgomery- World-class model. Independent, confident, and still had stupid moments. She was too much of a tease with word vomit at times.
I loved that they had a past, growing up as best friends. They fell apart and reconnected years later. The emotional factor involved was intense. Heartbreak, sadness, loss, forgiveness, and understanding, just to name a few. It made you love them and hate them all at the same time. I feel like following their journey back to each other would have been so much better if the communication between them was stronger. Plus they acted too immature for entirely too long. There was too much of a cat and mouse game going on. The ending was sweet but I needed more. It felt too rushed to me. I think it could have been expanded on more. It was a great direction though.
Author Kristina Borden is going to take the book world by storm. She’s got an amazing writing style and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
I received an ARC of this book for my HONEST review. Read and reviewed by Jeri from Just Blog It Reviews.

Imagine having a very successful modeling career, a hot model boyfriend, and an apartment to die for. That is the life of Summer of Montgomery. Until she walks in to a shoot and finds her “boyfriend” cheating on her for all to see (again). With her world slowly crumbling around her, Summer decides it is time to return home.
Having survived a traumatic childhood filled with abuse, Damian has found his niche in the tattoo world. Managing the Boneyard and being one of the best artist in the business, he has everything he has ever wanted. And then Summer returns.
Summer and Damian were best friends growing up. Best friends that later became lovers in high school. Until suddenly Damian ended things. A devastated Summer, never knowing why Damian ended, left for New York.
Kristina Borden brings you into a sweet and sexy second chance romance. Read both Damian and Summer’s POV to see where they went wrong and if they can correct it. Falling in the love the first time is sweet, finding the same love a second time can be downright mind blowing. Will their past ruin with their future?
Ok, now that I have that part of the way let me get to how I felt about this book :). I loved getting to know Summer (even if at the beginning I was a little bitch girl who kinda wanted to see her fall…..can you be anymore perfect Summer??). I love Damian….then again who doesn’t love a hot and tattooed man?? This book is definitely a great read for someone who likes some drama but not the whole Kardashian type of drama. You root for them….you want to punch the crap out of Cameron (Summer’s cheating (fill in the blank) boyfriend)…..you wonder why Summer does some of what she does….and then you keep reading to make sure they got the HEA they deserved. And yes I eventually came to love Summer, because as Dared went on I realized she wasn’t as perfect as I thought, then again who of us is???
I FREAKING loved watching the battle between Summer and Damian….it was hotter than hot. Waiting to see who would succumb first and how hard the fall might be. Both characters know how to play the seduction game.
*Disclaimer* I was given a copy of Dared in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great story of best friends whom have been there for one another throughout school. Then their lives changed after high school.
Summer Montgomery is a thin beautiful model living in New York. After high school she decided to leave Texas to pursue a modeling career in York City.
Damian is a sexy tattoo artist that is a womanizer. He is with a different woman every chance he get. Once he has had a woman there is no chance at a second time around.
Summer and Damian grew up together and we're best friends. Summer was his protector, Damian's mother was an alcohol who liked to hit her son. Summer was there to hold him together. Once he grew into his body in high school he became the popular guy that all the girls wanted. He was still good friends with Summer and she still threatens anyone that became close to Damien. During senior year they became a couple. One night Damien and his mother had a fight and he left, she told him never to return. He found his way to Summer's fathers tattoo shop and Mr Montgomery took him under his wing, on one condition that he not see his daughter until he had his life situated.
Summer didn't know what happen that Damian decided not to have a relationship with her, she decided to go to New York to pursue her modeling career. After eight years things have changed and she can not handle the drama of what her life has become. She decided to move home. Her mother set her up in a rental home and work at the tattoo shop as a receptionist.
Damian became a wonderful tattoo artist over the years under Shavo's guidance. He still continued to be a womanizer, he didn't believe he was good enough for Summer and don't think he would ever change to hold on to a woman.
Once Summer was back in Texas and working at the shop, she believed she can still develop a friendship with Damian and he believed the same. The crew from the shop went out and they had a good time, but there was some jealousy between them once they were together on the outing.
Can Summer and Damian have a friendship? Can they develop a relationship? Read this amazing story to find out the outcome.
3.5 stars out of 5 Kristina Borden's Dared Writing: Good Violence: Some Violence Sexual Content: Graphic Sexual Content Narration: Alternating Narration
A story of redemption and learning your lesson the hard way, Dared is intimate and inviting. A peek into another person's soul is always a good read to me and this journey takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions but through the ups and downs, there is a glimpse of humanity not often seen.
Summer thought when she left Texas, she left her past behind too. She has been a successful model in New York City for the past eight years and she has everything she has ever wanted, except a boyfriend who is worth her love. After she catches her boyfriend Cameron in the act, she decides a break is well needed and deserved. She heads back to Texas to help her mom with the Tattoo parlor her father started many years ago. This also brings her back to Damien, her childhood friend who hurt her so bad she had to move away to heal. Damien hasn't changed in the past eight years, still the hot ladies man with a different woman every night. When Summer and Damien are forced to deal with the past everyone around them needs to look out so they don't get burned. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but it may not be worth it. Can they find what they are both looking for?
This is one very hot read. Not just in the obvious ways either. The subtle, beautiful way the story is told and the way the characters are revealed to us and to themselves is like a slow burn. You feel it building and you don't want it to stop. Kristina Borden has a magic in her writing that transports the reader to anywhere she tells you. You feel as if you are there watching the scene unfold. With twists and turns, this is not your average run of the mill romance novel. This has a spirit, a fight that I have not run across often. Through stories like this we can learn about our fellow man, just a bit, but enjoy it a lot. I believe this is the first in a series, and I am waiting, not too patiently, for the next one. With this cast of characters and the talent in this first book, Kristina Borden has another fan in me.
DARED is the first book in the Boneyard Bad Boy Series and boy was it a homerun for me! Author Kristina Borden did a beautiful job capturing the emotional struggle between bad boy Damien and Summer who is sweet but tough when she needs to be. Summer is a successful model that has graced the covers of many magazines. As you read, you learn that she moved away from home not only to kick start her modeling career, but also to escape heartache. As she ends a tumultuous relationship with a fellow male model, she decides that a move back home would help her to get her mind off things and get her life back in order. Little does she know there will be quite the surprise waiting for her at the airport……… Damien helps run a popular tattoo shop with Summer’s mom, who was left in charge when her husband suddenly passed away. He’s had a rough life growing up which included a verbally and physically abusive mom causing him to feel as though he was unable to love anyone. The reader quickly realizes that Damien has so much love to give and he wants so desperately to give it to Summer. When Summer’s mom asks him to pick her up at the airport, he’s not sure he’s ready to see her again after so many years…….. This story showcases the power struggle between these two strong-willed characters. Who will win? There are some unexpected twists and turns as the story plays out and moments where I would become so frustrated – sometimes with Damien and sometimes with Summer - but I found myself hoping that the two of them would let their guard down and find a way to realize that they belong together. But are they both too bull-headed to let love in? My favorite quotes: “It is like his hold on me is rooted so deep, no matter what I do, I will never be set free.” “By forcing me to look inside of myself, she has me questioning everything I thought I had figured out.” “While I knew that I could be healed and made new with his love, he couldn’t fathom that my love could do the same for him.” This book could be read as a standalone, but I’m very much looking forward to the books that follow. I give DARED 5 stars and would highly recommend to my fellow readers!
Damian Cole is the ultimate bad boy. Rugged good looks, rippling muscles and full of tattoos. He is the manager and head tattoo artist of The Boneyard. Women are for his pleasure only. Love them and leave them is his motto.
Summer Montgomery is a top model in New York. Sun drenched blonde hair, full of curves and long legs with a badass attitude. After having her heart stomped on, she returns home to Dallas for some healing and relaxation.
Summer and Damian were best of friends as children. They did everything together and knew each others’ secrets but they haven't seen each other in eight years. Their lives took different roads and people change, will they even remember each other?
At first sight of one another the tingles started, like the nervousness and excitement of a child's first bike ride. As they slowly approach a storm starts to build, ultimately climaxing into fireworks. The sexual tension is palpable. They are both famished and can only be satisfied with each other. Unfortunately they are both hardheaded and have too much pride. Damian and Summer are driving each other crazy, wanting the other to concede and make the first move.
“ I am consumed with thoughts of him. I have been drowning in my desire and I need nothing more than to let him devour me whole. I stand before him naked and exposed. Today I am his and I need him to stake his claim.”
“ He is unyielding in the harshness of his kiss. His tongue probing until he forces my lips apart. His kiss is deep, almost savage. His hunger evident as he growls against my mouth.”
The attraction between Damian and Summer is explosive. The love is bone deep. You can see they are soulmates even when they couldn't admit it. Kristina did an amazing job on this book. Her writing is excellent and left me breathless at times. This is the first book in The Boneyard Bad Boy Series. I can't wait to read the rest! Loved this book!

Will they allow themself to find the courage they need to take a long look at their lives and make a choice. Dare to be held hostage to who they think they are, or dare to be who they can be when their lives is filled with a love that will finally make them whole.
I enjoyed this book. Watching Damien and Summer grow from the beginning of the book to the end of the book was a emotional roller-coaster. I loved the sexual banter between Summer and Damien. I also enjoyed side character, Cash. He had me laughing at the things he and Damien said to each other. He was a good best friend to Damien. I like to read Cash's story in the future.

He managed to gain enough strength to leave her in his late teens and was provided shelter in the back room of a tattoo shop. The sacrifice he had to make to receive this help was greater than any pain inflicted by his mother. After learning the trade and perfecting his skill, Damien, built the tattoo shop into a thriving business, and has been successfully running and managing the business with Marie for years. Damien and his friends are a fun loving group of alpha’s who spend their down time carousing and enjoying life. Damien is content with how life has turned out and is living life as it comes.

Can Summer and Damien move forward from the past and rebuild their old friendship or will all the sexual frustration between the two and one night of pure bliss be their undoing? Kristina Borden does a fabulous job with not only her writing but also the relationship between the characters. There are many plot twists that keep you sucked into the book while cursing Summer and Damien throughout the story. This story does not end with a cliffhanger so you will be satisfied with an ending, whether its the ending you want or not you will have to read it and find out yourselves.
With this description of Damien sexy ultimate bad boy, fucking drool worthy, absolutely fuck worthy gorgeous you have sold me.
Then you add a kick ass female character Summer, author's rarely write female character like this, she's tough, will your kick ass and is full of attitude.

This is my first read by Kristina Borden and I can't wait to read more by her. I LOVED these characters, at first I wanted to hat Damien but the more you get to know him you start to understand him more. Kristina has written a book that will have you sucked in and not wanting to put it down until you find out how it ends. I took a emotional roller coaster ride reading this one. This book will have you laughing, raging, turned on, sad, you name it you will feel it.
Summer has loved Damien for years and after he broke her heart she moved to NYC to pursue a modeling career. She is now worn out and comes home to get a break but when the first person she sees is the same one who broke her heart things may become more complicated. After some tense times Damien asks if they can resume their friendship but things quickly take a turn for the sexy. When they start a little game will anyone come out the victor in the end?
Damien is doesn't do more than one night with women. His life suddenly starts to get out of control when his ex and one time best friend comes to town. He is so attracted to her but he tries to ignore it or find other outlets for it. The woman who comes back is a sexy as sin woman who is determined to win a sexy game. He is determined to gain back their friendship but this game is making things complicated. He is determined to be the victor but he may take things too far. Will he realize his feelings toward her or will he lose Summer again?
The authors writing is good. There is a little violence in this book and there are sex scenes. The story is Narrated in alternating persons points of view.
This is the first book by Kristina Borden that I have read, and I enjoyed it. Summer and Damien seem to work really well together and knowing that they were together in the past and this is them giving things a try again, brings this story round circle. Summer is a model and decides she needs a change and moves back home to Texas, she is independent and strong and in all honesty at times a little dense considering she only has her own interests at heart. Damien is a tattoo artist who is cocky and full of himself to the highest degree, but he has never stopped loving Summer even if he wont admit it to her. They go through this book trying to rekindle the love that they had when they were younger, but trust me it isn’t easy. They have their ups and downs like any other couple. I love the banter between the two throughout the book and the fact that they both know just what buttons to push to set the other one off makes the book even funnier. Damien works in the tattoo shop that Summer’s family owns and is like family to them. Summer like I said only cares about herself in certain parts of this book and it becomes obvious the farther you get in the book. Thankfully by the end Summer can see past herself and takes the time to listen to others about their feelings.
