Over the course of her recent adventures, Storm has made some powerful enemies. And now they've pulled some strings and had her branded Public Enemy Number One! Can Storm evade the authorities long enough find out who's gunning for her and clear her name?
Greg Pak is an award-winning Korean American comic book writer and filmmaker currently writing "Lawful" for BOOM and "Sam Wilson: Captain America" (with Evan Narcisse) for Marvel. Pak wrote the "Princess Who Saved Herself" children's book and the “Code Monkey Save World” graphic novel based on the songs of Jonathan Coulton and co-wrote (with Fred Van Lente) the acclaimed “Make Comics Like the Pros” how-to book. Pak's other work includes "Planet Hulk," "Darth Vader," "Mech Cadet Yu," "Ronin Island," "Action Comics," and "Magneto Testament."
And the plot continues to thicken! This comic features appearances by several other X-Men, including Nightcrawler (<3), and has some lovely telepathy sequences. This issue also digs into how Storm's arrest fits into the X-Men universe, and that's been pretty great. So excited for this series.
4 stars. Ororo's being framed so she and some of the X-Men have to figure out a way to get her out of trouble. Good stuff. I'm really enjoying this plot line.
I'm just in love with the series and how Greg Pak handles Storm. I loved how she took the initiative to look for the man responsible for her arrest, etc. I can't wait for the next issue and see her facing off with the man who seems to after since issue #4. I hope the momentum continues and we get to see Storm performing some more amazing weather manipulating feats!
If this were any other character I would have given up already. But here, in the seventh issue, we get somewhere. Here is the emotion, the intelligence, the power that has been missing from this anemic series. I hope Pak can keep up the pace and bring this heroine the glory she deserves.
