The Demon and The Emperor

Rate this book
"I must ask you--with greatest respect, Lord Demon..." The general looked up with eyes maddened by fury. "Why do you drape your arm around the Divine Emperor with such intimate familiarity?" Rodukjo stared down his nose at the general. "Your emperor has but one thing of value to offer in exchange for my fealty. The pleasures of his body." Newly crowned Emperor Dianese needs the power of the lascivious demon Rodukjo to solidify his authority. The mighty demon asks for a dear price in exchange for his aid, one Dianese has no choice but to accept. The emperor expects a life of suffering at the hands of the demon, but as their partnership evolves something more profound develops. A FULL-LENGTH novel presented in its entirety--not a series. Intense erotica with elements of bdsm. A fantasy realm more typical of anime than fairy tales. The well earned HEA comes after numerous twists and turns! The author's longest and most satisfying work to date. Fans of Yamila Abraham's Vanquished Series will love this book!

I finally did it! 😱 I’ve been meaning to read this book for so long and I finally got to it. 😏 This was definitely not what I was expecting nonetheless I enjoyed this greatly. ❤️ This is a romance as well as a fantasy book. I loved the world-building and the portrayals of both the emperor and the demon lord. 😌 They sure made a cute couple. 🥰 There are several scenes of the MCs being intimate with other people/creatures so if you are super into monogamous, might not be the book for you. 🙂 But they were so hot and erotic that I didn’t mind it myself. 🔥 If you like light BDSM theme with heavy fantasy elements, this is definitely right up your alley. 😉

Wow, so... if you're looking for pretty hard core M/M smut, this is it lol. There was a storyline that was okay, just not super developed. The main focus is on the sex for sure. I did like the demon Rodukjo, he was in control and didn't let Dianese manipulate him, but he also actually cared for the emperor. It's a pretty short story and the audio went by quickly. Not a bad narrator, he has a gruff voice that fit Rodukjo well.

I said in my other review that UnPrison was my favorite book of Yamila but I lied. This one is my absolutely favorite.

The sweet emperor and the mighty demon! Swoon! These books are rather short so there’s the whole thing with “insta-love”, but it didn’t bother me that much because it was fucking HOT!

The emperor is a Virgin and the demon is into kinky sex and threesomes. I’m telling you guys, it’s hot.

My reviews are charming as always. But you all already knew that.

From its beautifully rendered cover through to its final page, ‘The Demon and The Emperor’ is a magnificent example of what a good Yaoi romance should aspire to be. I loved everything about this divine story! It is a perfect balance of imaginative storyline, excellent characterization, crisp dialogue, exquisite settings, tough to tender romance, and scintillating smex.

It’s a fast-paced read, but so well edited that the fullness of the story had me thinking I spent days with these characters rather than hours. And what a pleasure to take on the persona of both the demon Rodukjo and the Emperor Dianese, when a promise made in desperation becomes a bond of love. Woot! A truly spellbinding male/male erotic fantasy that should not be missed.

Young Emperor Dianese has inherited a kingdom fraught with enemies who conspire to alleviate the half-fey cami of his kingly rights… and molest him to boot. Desperate, he proceeds with his late father’s plans to secure the services of the great Lord Demon Rodukjo. Dianese hopes to strike a deal to protect his person and his kingdom and perhaps the Lord Demon will agree to help him unite his entire realm as well. He has come to the site of the exchange laden with the costly gifts said to bind the demon to his side. Unfortunately Rodukjo cares nothing for the hard-won gifts that Dianese seeks to bargain with. Struck by the beauty and the sharp mind of the beautiful emperor, Rodukjo demands a promise of another kind.

And so the real story begins. Subsequent events reveal a wonderful fantasy story that is light, playful, and deeply rooted in erotica. The story is a real charmer with lovely descriptive writing that colors a beautifully turned out world that had the artist in me yearning to illustrate. The sex scenes are smoking hot, varied, and not overly frequent, but well balanced with this witty and tantalizing tale. I highly recommend this book for all lovers of Yaoi, male/male romance, erotica, and fantasy… its it’s perfectly wonderful!

Thank you, Yamila Abraham, for gifting readers with this lovely full-length story… it’s truly magical!

“Romantic, Ethereal, Sensual = Hmm, Hmm Good!”

Quite difficult to rate: this erotica combines naiveté, romance and a very hardcore bdsm scene (at least for me). A strange mix that borders on funny sometimes, and I'm not sure the humor was voluntary.
Anyway, it was a rather enjoyable read. I considered the genre for my rating: for a Yaoi novel, inspired by the manga universe, it was quite good. The backstory was adequate, the writing style nice and the scenery totally exotic. As an erotica and an escapism read, it achieves its goal.

Personal rating: 3 stars

I should be giving this book 2 stars, but the cover is so beautiful that I think it deserves an extra star just for that.

Usually I can read pretty much anything, and I am okay with BDSM or any other kink, unless it is written well, and this book didn't even have anything extreme in it. But I just didn't like it. Characters were flat, and I do not enjoy "instalove", more so if it includes mentions of child abuse, sex abuse, allusions to rape or lack of consent in the bedroom.

Feeling very let down as there was nothing to the plot whatsoever and no character development. I could have enjoyed it for the sake of relationship but I had even more problems with it.

I had high hopes for this one but alas.

I very much enjoyed this Yaoi romance and am so glad I read a friend's review and was steered towards 'The Demon and the Emperor'. The characters are vibrant, the smex is off the charts, the dialogue is rich, and the descriptive writing is wonderful.

I really wanted to enjoy this... but this fell short at many points. I will admit it was not the worst and it can even enjoyable if you ignore many factors. So the plot was quite interesting and I was looking forward to seeing how Yamila developed it and the characters but it fell quite short. So there was kind of a plot but not really after a point.

As for the characters I was very disappointed in Dianese the adopted son of a very abusive and disturbed king. At one point he talked about not wanting his sister killed but then he does a 360 and completely forgives what Rodukjo did to her. And I understand people will say she used her body but he promised and then he left her to a fate worse than death. In my opinion, she is very pitiable and she has so much anger which she has that right to. Back to Dianese at the beginning, he is very weak and I thought maybe he would get some backbone or at least development as the story continued but nope. so I came to dislike him but I came to understand why Rodukjo liked him so much.

Rodukjo is a stereotypical alpha character in this story. He felt sorry for what he did but not really that sorry. He made a promise but as soon as he got what he wanted broke it. And I know... I know he was afraid that he would lose his people then s=he should have let her go and not manipulated her but worst of all is that he let the enemy kidnap and do gods knows what (which he admits was problem horrific) to his "fiancee". He chose not to save her and hooked up with her brother..... So while I don't hate him I would not consider him to be a great character.

I rated this story so low because I feel this plot/ story had so much potential and Yamila Abraham could have done so much better. This is shown in some of the other works by this author.

So, I thought this was going to be erotica, more so then what was actually delivered. I have no idea why all these reviewers are calling this hard-core Smut when it is anything but. It's very tame and with the Erotic scene not even happening until near the end of the book.

This was not good erotica as it really took way too long to finally deliver. What was delivered was spicy, but meh, not sure if it was worth the wait. The build up was really sloppy and made no sense.

The Emperor starts off resisting and completly shooting down this request by a demon to couple. The demon is barely even a demon in a typical sense too because he like does everything in his power to be respectful and proper with boundaries. Which makes no sense. The plot is based around the Emperor requesting the demons assistance for his empire, in exchange the demon accepts his body in exchange he will provide his support.

Its just so incredibly cringe and poorly written that I can believe I finished it. Why in the world is a big and powerful scary demon so terrifying for his brutality and power just like respecting some human who promised his body to him?

This resistance doesn't last long, in seemingly a days time Emperor is confessing his love for demon dude after being convinced of demons good intentions. After a day.... And like there is nothing likable about either of these characters, why bring love into it?

Its such a bizarre mix of plot threads that don't work together but are put together anyways.

A Tantalizing Piece of Work

This is only the second story I've read by Yamila Abraham, but it is by far the best. The plot, the characters, my only true complaint is the length of time the story takes place over. I feel like it should have taken longer for trust and love to form. Still, it was captivating and definitely worth reading.

I came for the perverted fuckery, and stayed for the rather lovely dash of charm and sweetness that came with the perverted fuckery. 😏 A sure-fire winner.

Some BDSM, sharing, virgins first-time, and depravity. Basically...your typical Yamila Abraham.

Summary:

The cover for this story is absolutely beautiful and adds to the overall impact of the plot. The interaction between the characters while fluid and interesting felt a little bit superficial because the characters lacked the depth they needed to understand their true motivations. Emperor Dianese was a unique and compelling individual who was willing to do whatever he needed to protect his people, including going to the Demon Rodukjo for help. Rodukjo's reaction of disgust to the sacrifices that Dianese brought him was surprising since Dianese's people had waged war killing many people when Rodukjo felt it was a waste when he would have helped Dianese taking him as the sacrifice. The relationship between Dianese and Rodukjo at the beginning felt slightly stiff, but as the plot unfolded it grew into a wonderful love story and very sensual. I had some technical issues with the format of the book while reading it on a Nook, but was able to read it on a computer without difficulty.

Emperor Dianese is in trouble. As a cami, a half fey, his powers rely more in his cunning and beauty than in his strength. That’s why he claims the allegiance of the war demon Rodukjo, despite the fact that the prize he demands is Dianese’s body. The Emperor thinks he can manipulate Rodukjo, but the demon turns out to be as resourceful as charming. Soon, Dianese finds his own heart is at risk…
The Demon and the Emperor is a delightful little story, somehow in the line of yaoi tradition although it reminds me of Hindu stories like the Mahabharata, with their colourful and detailed descriptions of all sort of demons and mythical creatures. Dianese is an interesting character, a man trapped between two worlds as he is only half fey, the product of a Cami mother and a human father. As a result, his beauty is irresistible, but he lacks the magic of his mother’s kind. His bold attempt to gain the fealty of Rodukjo through cunning manipulation crashes into the demon’s cleverness. As for Rodukjo himself, it is also a charming character, who soon proves his insight as a strategist and his ability to care and cater for the needs of young Diamese. With his aid, the emperor discovers his own sensuality. Although their relationship begins as an erotic one, it soon moves into feelings. The more he sees of the charming demon, the more Diamese likes him, that’s why winning the war Rodukjo came to fight does not feel like a victory any more for the young emperor, who regrets Rodukjo’s departure. But maybe Rodukjo has more reason than the military ones to stay…
I have to recognise that I decided to read this book attracted by the beautiful cover. I had never read any book by Yamila Abraham before so I did not know what to expect. But it was a nice surprise, and I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story. I’ll certainly be checking other stories by this author.

The Demon and the Emperor is a BL light novel. It revolves around a young Emperor who, in desperation to solve the economic and political crisis his father the previous Emperor had saddled him with, enters into a deal with a demon to lend power and strength to his reign. This deal binds him to the demon, who is intent on making him his bride in exchange for his aid. It’s a very cheesy drama novel that, while the premise sounds somewhat dark, has a large focus on consent and mutual love and respect between partners, with some fun high fantasy and war plot on the side.

The Demon and the Emperor revolves around Dianese, the new emperor of a country called Fanterah, after his adoptive father gathers the items he supposedly needs in order to summon the esteemed demon Rodukjo. However, when Dianese goes to meet the demon, he is told that his father's quest was in vain, since the demon does not desire the items his father has has collected (i.e the skull of a virgin) but desires Dianese instead.
