She has a tough shell, waiting to be broken. Is he up to the task?
Olivia isn’t easily impressed by guys - she has set her goals, and a handsome rich boy isn’t about to sway her. She doesn’t need a relationship, especially not with her soon-to-be stepbrother, Parker. She had a brief moment of weakness with him, and what happened later has turned her away from him for good. He’s a privileged ass who doesn’t deserve a minute of her time.
But Parker can’t get Olivia out of his mind. Why is she resisting him? He has to get through her ‘independent woman’ exterior, no matter what it takes. If only she wasn’t so adamant about avoiding him.
They’re about to graduate from college, and the twists and turns in their lives make them grow up faster than either of them expected. Will their budding feelings for each other survive the odds?
No Regrets is a New Adult Romance novella, with no cliffhangers and a happily-ever-after ending.
Emma Fawkes has been reading romance novels since she first got her hands on a tattered copy of Gone with the Wind at the age of twelve. After recently quitting her job as a nurse to raise her children, she decided to try her hand at writing her own romantic thrillers. Her first novel, Unbroken, was published in July of 2015.
What a sweet and romantic story about two people who meet and didn’t know they are soon to be step siblings. Olivia and Parker are about to graduate college and meet at the grocery market after coming home to meet each other’s parent’s. They are attracted to one another but just let the moment go-Olivia because she thinks Parker is a jerk and Parker because he doesn’t know what Olivia’s name is –soon they realize who they are to one another and the “games” begin. Olivia has been hurt in the past by guy she thought she loved so she has never let a guy get close and here is Parker- she comes to realize he is a good guy; Parker comes to see Olivia is a really nice girl and he wants her in his life almost immediately—but things happen that cause Olivia to doubt he really wants her around. Twists and turns caused me to be on the edge of my seat until the last page—I loved Parker because he was a good guy and there was things in his past that caused him to pull back from Liv and oh Liv, she had so much confusion and pain in her past when it came to trust and believing in Parker --the end of this story is a so heartwarming. Keep some tissues handy. I enjoyed this story and cannot wait to read another book by this author.
My rating: 4.5 stars **** ***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****
Kindly provided with an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review....
It's a 5 STEPBROTHER STARS "I WANT YOU FOR MY OWN" read from Me !!!
This is Olivia and Parker's story in a nutshell Olivia couldn't care less about guy's especially cocky ones. Olivia is driven (yes I would use that word) on her studies. What happens to best laid plans......they get rail roaded by a HOT guy.
Enter Parker......they meet, he's rich, arrogant and does not usually get the word NO said to him. Red flag to a bull Olivia I said to myself !!. They meet up again this time to discover that their respective parents are to marry and that they will be step siblings......NO !!!!!
Thrown into the wedding plans they become close. They really do try to fight the building attraction but fate can be a real bitch.....and she want's these two together !!!
I won't ramble on anymore except to say I loved EVERY line, page, minute of this book. It is well worth a read !!! I would HIGHLY recommend it !!!
Many thanks Emma for a FABULOUS book !!! If only Parker was real *sigh* ;0) xxx
No Regrets by Emma Fawkes is a quick and easy read, perfect for a light escape. While the story was engaging enough, the ending was quite predictable, which took away some of the excitement. Still, it’s an enjoyable book if you’re looking for something simple and straightforward.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
In this book we meet Olivia and Parker. Both of them have gone through something big with a parent. For Parker his mom was killed in a car accident, so his view of women is a little skewed. For Olivia her dad left them when she was just an infant, so she doesn't know a lot about picking the right man. The first man Olivia ever fell for was a life long friend when it finally happened it was a drunken one night hook-up. That helps to build the walls that keep Olivia safe and everyone else at arms length. The next man we hear about Olivia meeting up with is none other than Parker himself. Parker is one of those guys that Olivia knows will never be serious about her so it is best to keep him at arms length. The problem with that is their parents have some very shocking news.
Parker likes to play the field and makes no excuses about it. The one thing Parker really cares about is his dad so when he asks him to come home early for thanksgiving to meet the woman he has been dating Parker see no problem with this. The problems come after he shows up, he and Olivia class from the word sugar. Parker isn't sure what to make of this woman no woman has said things to him like she does, and definitely no woman has turned him down before.
In this book there is an instant attraction that both characters are trying to fight. Their parents are against them being together for totally different reasons. This book is so good it is about finding that perfect person for you and really deciding if you are willing to fight for what you really want. I want to tell you all the twists and turns this couple has but as a reader I think you would like to experience them for yourself. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it.
I received this for an honest review. Each book I read of Emma Fawkes just blows me away.
Olivia Radcliffe who was a beautiful curvy woman had some hurt in her life. With a father that abandon her and her mother and a bad relationship it left some emotional scares. She had this wall built up that she did not want anyone male to get thru. She protected her heart with all she had.
Parker Jackson was this handsome, sexy, rich guy that was use to getting his way. Girls fell at his feet, so when this girl did not hesitate to shoot him down he could not help but like the challenge. He wanted her badly. Don’t think because Parker had a cushion life that he did not have some hurt and fears.
The shock that Parker and Olivia must of felt to find out they were going to be step siblings. Not only that there were this chemistry that they could not deny. I love that both were warned to stay way from each other. But as you can already imagine it is not going to happen. Things get hot and heavy. Oh yeah, Emma Fawkes does not disappoint. *smile*
Don’t think just because things get hot and heavy that there are not a few road blocks along the way. There are challenge they must face to find their way to each other. The problem is do they both want the same thing?
Olivia is focused on school and avoids relationships. She has one painful episode and feels it is best to focus on her career. She especially is turned off by arrogant guys that think no women will tell them no.
When she meets one of those rich guys while at home on a visit, she puts him in his place. Parker is more intrigued than turned off. Women don't usually tell him no. When they meet again, they find out their parents are getting together and there is no avoiding each other.
They both try to avoid their feelings but it is difficult when they are planning a wedding. They are encouraged to keep away from each other but that is harder they thought.
The characters are young and make mistakes. Olivia tends to expect the worst of men so she is quick to doubt Parker's feeling are true. There is a lot of angst that could have been avoided if they had communicated but that is true of most couples.
The story moves at a quick pace and the actions are consistent with the characters' ages and experience. I enjoyed it.
I liked this story for the fact that it didn’t beat the step-brother thing to death. The writing didn’t seem to be quite as good as her other books that I’ve read but I enjoyed the story anyway.
Parker and Olivia bump into each other in the grocery story before they realize how they will soon be related. Olivia is ticked off because Parker did a crappy job of parking his car and she assumes that he feels he’s better than other people since he drives a fancy car. This gets their relationship off on the wrong foot.
Parker and Olivia must work together to plan their soon to be wed parents wedding. Olivia begins to have feelings for Parker but she is insecure and doubts his feelings when a former girlfriend sabotages their relationship.
Thing all work out in the end but the road is a bit rocky. I would have given this book more stars but the writing seemed stilted in places. I received an ARC in exchange for my review and the book was to have one more round of edits before publication. Perhaps that final edit cleared up some of the things that bothered me.
I usually do not care for stepbrother or sister books but decided to read give this one a try because I like this author. I was sure glad I did because Emma Fawkes did not go the usually sleazy route with step sibling attraction and boy it made for a great read.
Olivia and her mom have been it all her life. Parker and his dad have pretty much been the same since his mom pass away from a car accident. Olivia and Parker met each other at a grocery store of all places... Later they met again You must read this book to find out where and then see how they over come the odds stacked against them.
This is a really I mean REALLY GREAT READ!!! It is Hot, Steamy with just enough push and pull YOU will LOVE IT! I received this book for an honest review.
This book is a really fast read. Read it in 3 1/2 hours in one sitting. Olivia is a girl who is a college student and is a shy. She has a shield over her heart because of her first love. and on her visit to home over thanksgiving break she goes to the store to get something for her mother and thats when she runs into Parker for the first time. Only thing is she doesn't know that he's going to be her step brother until about 20 minutes later. Everything goes pretty fast but the book over all takes about thru the span of about 6 months to a year. If your looking for a short read. this is the book for you. Its short sweet and really cute. I recieved an ARC for my honest review !
two people come together seeking a way out in their own way. big is their surprise when their respective parents are a couple as well. olivia thought she had enough with one encounter, parker thinks just the opposite and being used to getting everything he wants, olivia is a big challenge and their parents being together isn't going to stop him from getting what he wants. you think this is a cookie cutter story but both couples have their issues and battles they have to win and/or face to get their HEA. it shows emotion where is needed and it's steaming hot when all inhibitions are thrown out the window. a wonderful read in this genre!
this is a good book my problem was that she as making him seem like he was such a bad guy but he really wasnt she was the one who seemed like she had some serious issues. she acts like that she had anger issues trust issues and jjump to conclusions really fast and barely ever gave him a chance to actually correct her and if she is so tough like she pretended to be y didnt she ever have the balls to confront him instead of always running away like a coward. she sabatoged her on happiness countless times for something so silly as a misunderstanding
*ARC received in exchange for an honest review* This is a sweet and romantic little story. What I like is that stepbrother Parker isn't a big a-hole. He has his moments but he's really a pretty decent guy and he's head over heals for Olivia almost from the beginning. Her well-being always seems to be at the forefront of his mind. Olivia is mildly irritating sometimes but overall I liked her. Thank god a big deal wasn't made out of their step relationship. I enjoyed this book a lot.
I received a copy of this book im exchange for my opinion. My most favourite read so far from the extremely talented Ms Fawkes. Believable characters that were written in such a way, that you just wanted everyone to end up happy together. I loved that there was no unnecessary crudity, the writer favouring emotion over smut. (and I'm no prude) Quite impressed by the whole story fitting nicely into a novella. Loving this lady's work ♡♡
I really like this story. I enjoyed reading about how love struck Olivia and Parker's parents. Coincidently, and reluctantly Olivia and Parker also fall in love. This is a very heartwarming romance.
Characters and storyline are pretty well developed, I'm not usually a college romance fan but these two were seniors and went different schools. It was an entertaining read.
