Working as a paralegal for the best lawyer in Townsend, things were going pretty good for Tatum until her life turned to one of fear when the towns biggest drug dealer put a target on her head. Tatum has been taking steps to protect herself for the past three years, including self-defense classes and getting a gun. When one day that no longer helps her, she jumps in the car and takes a seven-hour drive to Buckerville, home of the MC Masters of Destruction. Her best friend, Paige, tells her getting in good with one of the members will earn her the protection she needs. What happens when she meets the club's Sergeant at Arms and quickly finds herself falling in for him? Will the danger of the club outrank the danger of an angry drug dealer? Or will Tatum be able to protect her life and her heart when Temper learns of Tatum’s best friend’s plan to use the club for protection?
Salice Rodgers has an uncanny ability to make a novella feel like a novel. By reading the books in order she layouts the characters so that the reader isn't haven't to recap who is who or what has happened. Yes you do need to read in order because without reading book one you will not understand a part of this book.
As for the story in this particular novella, Ta uhm Addie is a woman on the run from a drug dealer that she managed to help put in jail. Being scared for her life she runs to a little town hoping to get lost with the aid of her best friend. I was surprised at the development and the suspense was just enough to keep my interest. There was just enough sexual content to have heat but appears to be second to the actual story. Temper is part of Master of Destruction. He knows from the moment he meets Addie that he wants to protect her. One thing for sure is that when a MOD member falls for a woman they fall quickly. They know that life is short so they don't waste time but does Temper have enough time to save Addie? Read to find out. You will be just as shocked as I was to what happens.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5-4 stars
This is my first taste of the Masters of Destruction series and I was immediately pulled into the story, wanting to know more about why Tatum needed to hide away. Loved the characters and the chemistry. Also loved Temper's grandmother (she's a hoot). And, I was not expecting the twist at the end.
I would have loved for this novella to have been a full length novel- I felt the end was rushed which is why I give it 3.5 stars. But it is a novella so it must be wrapped up- other than the rush at the end, I really liked it- Hence why I'm rounding up to 4...Looking forward to reading more in this series. Maybe the next one will be a full length novel???
Well, I didn't end up reading book 1 of this series, but I have to say that book 2 was a nice read. It was simple, easy to follow, easy to understand what was happening, a bit of information on the back story and why Tatum was on the run. Temper seems like a really good guy and goes after what he wants. I like that even though this was an MC book, it didn't go into too much of the club but enough that you knew they are one. This was one of those stories where it ended up being just a small story within the MC.
Loved this book! Even the unexpected twists that cause you to hold your breath and read faster lol. Salice always grabs your attention from page one and holds it until the last word. Temper is the typical arrogant bad boy you want to hate but can't. My only complaint about this book is that it ended. I'll be patiently awaiting the next book in the MOD series. Great work yet again Salice Rodgers!!
Loved Sue. The twist on who was working with who surprised me. The men seem to want to push away the women they want, but luckily they chose strong feisty ones that will stand with them
