As a pure-blooded male Bearer, Mirian Lamine has always been aware of the danger that comes with his legacy. Seeking to protect him, his father spirits him away to an island in the middle of nowhere. And Mirian is grateful, he is, but he also feels increasingly restless, the refuge of his childhood home now nothing more than a gilded cage. He feels like he is waiting for something—but what?
The answer comes in the wake of a devastating storm, and in the person of a handsome werewolf who braves it just for Mirian's sake.
For Frey King, the simple and quite frankly unbearable boating trip changes when he catches sight of the small mysterious island. When the tempest erupts, he knows something is waiting for him out there, and he is willing to do anything to find his future.
But when the two of them meet, will Frey's determination be enough to convince Mirian of his honesty? Can a Bearer who has lived most of his life isolated and kept away from the world adapt to the idea of being a werewolf's mate? With all odds stacked against them, it might just take a miracle for the couple to find their happily ever after.
Anya Byrne is first and foremost a longtime fan of erotic romance. Starting to write her own stories was a natural progression of her devotion for the genre. Years after she put pen to paper in that very first book, she is just as enthusiastic and let’s face it, somewhat obsessive about erotic romance and all that it entails. She is steadfast in the belief that there’s nothing quite as hot as an amazing hero—except more amazing heroes engaged in heroic hot lovin’, and has branched out into the field of self-publishing to convince even more readers of this fact. Hopefully, she will succeed :).
Ebook Review📚 Story ❤️❤️❤️ Characters ❤️❤️❤️ Overall ❤️❤️❤️
Book 2 from the Bearers universe turned out to be a much better take on characters even if the development is short because of the novella length. Although I haven't read The tempest, this book is a light 😏 adaptation of the Shakespearean classic. While the first book was star crossed lover story of Romeo and Juliet, this one focuses on a couple/mates that meet through a shipwreck.
Now our first MC Mirian has lived a very sheltered life, literally isolated from the rest of the world on an island when his father with his Nanny took him from their family home to save him from the burdens of a pure-blood bearer family. What Mirian doesn't know is finding his mate will change his life and many of his beliefs about shifter and human mating.
Frey our MC2 is heir to another shaper shifter clan, with responsibilities to find a mate or form a bond to continue the family lineage. What he never expected was finding his true mate on an island and a bearer.
Frey and Mirian have strong chemistry and they make a much more well-developed couple than the one in book 1. Still, our first-bearer couple Roman and Julian and their daughter Luna are part of this story as well, especially when they rescue and support our main couple. We also get more explanation of the world of bearers and how devious families 🙄 and people can be. Another light read, but a good one.
***I received a free copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, for an honest review.***
Mirian is a bearer. When he was three years old his grandfather tried to sell him off in marriage to another pure bred family. Mirian's father wasn't happy with the plans so he snuck away with Mirian to where hopefully his father couldn't find him. Mirian has been brought up in secret on a small hidden island in the ocean. Mirian almost feels like a prisoner but he know how miserable his life would be if he left the island and people found out about him. His one joy is sketching by a small pool on the island. If he looks hard enough, he sees unusual images. One day while he is there a big storm comes up. As he struggles to return home, he sees a strange man washed up on the beach. Drawn to him, he is shocked when the man claims he is his mate.
Frey is wolf shifter and heir to the alpha. He is friends with Roman and Julian and wishes to help out the bad situations for bearers but his father hates bearers. His father has plans to mate Frey off to a female wolf shifter that Frey has no interest in. He is pressured to com on a yacht trip with both families but the females annoys him. He sees a mysterious small island in the distance that is not on any map and is strangely drawn to it. The storm hits and his father forces the yacht to turn around. Frey gives in to his feeling and jumps into the water and heads for the island. He wakes up to find his fated mate leaning over him. Frey wants to claim Mirian as his own but Mirian is afraid that Frey just wants to use him. Frey wil show Mirian what it means to be fated mates.
Mirian has been raised on an isolated island for his own safety or so he's been told. When he goes for a walk and subsequent swim, a storm blows in. As he's making his way back home, he finds a stranded man on the beach and is impelled to save him. It soon becomes apparent that this is no random stranger.
Frey is on a cruise with his family and friends when the storm breaks out. His father says they have to turn the boat around but Frey knows that his destiny lies on the island, in the distance, so he jumps overboard. When he comes to, on the island, he's faced with his mate. Will Mirian accept him or think he's there to hurt him?
Mirian and Frey have good chemistry. They both come from families that are hiding things from them and would rather keep them apart. Mirian's family have deceptions on top of deceptions and when they come out he's devastated. Their friends Julian and Roman (Bearer book #1) are there to help them by giving them a place to stay and guidance in their mating. I liked the twist of who Mirian thinks he can trust and who he can't. I was glad that the villain did get his comeuppance. I would've like the book to be longer and more flushed out. It seemed rushed to me. I'm definitely hooked on this author's books. I'm now off to read book 3.
Bearers series is an interesting concept. Pure-blooded humans are a dying breed, but to keep their race alive, "Bearers" (very rare pure-blooded human males who are able to conceive) are married off to other pure-blood human males.
Tempestuous Miracles is the 2nd book in this series. Mirian is a Bearer. He has been living on a secluded island for most of his life, for his own safety. At least that is what he believes. While out on a yacht with his father and friends, werewolf Frey spots an island, that is not charted on any map. He doesn't understand the pull he has to the island, so when his father decides to return to port due to a sudden storm, Frey knows that he must get to the island, by any means.
Like book 1, Tempestuous Miracles is a short, fast-paced book. There is more drama in this book, due to secrets and deceptions by the ones we should trust. I would definitely suggest reading Like Spun Moonlight first, before picking up this book.
✔️ Werewolf shifters ✔️ Fated mates ✔️ MPreg If the above is your jam, then give this book a read! Onto book 3 😊
Mirian and Frey's romance had a lot of potential, but with its whirlwind pace I didn't have time to stop and savor the details. Proctor and Mirian's escape in the beginning was the perfect hook to draw me into their story, and I was intrigued by their secluded island lifestyle. I can't imagine growing up in such an isolated environment, and I thought it was impressive how well Mirian adapted to seeing a new person after so long. I had a lot of respect for how much Frey held back from rushing Mirian into a relationship, but even with that the two of them moved incredibly fast. I had barely wrapped my head around the idea that they were mates when they were already making introductions to each other's families and planning a life together. I was happy to reconnect with characters from book 1 in the series, and I really enjoyed the surprise twist of betrayal that happened, but the whole ending felt really rushed to me. It was hard to be satisfied with their steamy heat-induced mating when I still wanted to know so much more about the characters themselves first.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
Nothing is as it seems. When Mirian is 3, his GrandPop, Duke Lamine, lets his Dad, Proctor know that Mirian may be a bearer and is a commodity to be offered to another family as a strategic advantageous tool. Proctor pretends to go along, then packs up Mirian and escapes to an uncharted island. 20 years later, Mirian is chafing at the restraints and secrecy of his life. Roman, from the previous story and Frey met once by accident and Roman told him that he believed bearers were shifter mates. Frey, is on a trip with his Dad and Apha Stephen, he notices the island and feels drawn to it. A sudden storm erupts and the boat turns around in an attempt to return home. Frey, feeling a pull to his heart, jumps overboard. When he and Mirian meet, Frey recognizes his mate. Then the fun begins. It's 'meet the parent', with a twist. Can Frey convince Proctor he means no harm? Does Mirian embrace his mate? Does anyone come looking for Frey? Can Mirian return home with no consequences to Proctor? There are a lot of questions and answers are not always forthcoming. Good story, too quick. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Tempestuous Miracles by author Anya Byrne is the second book in the Bearer’s series. I loved this book more than the first book in this series. I liked finally getting to know the world this is placed in. There are 12 chapters in this story and being longer makes it better. Not so rushed and has great characters I found myself attached to and want more of.
Mirian is a very intelligent Bearer. When he is three his father makes a great sacrifice and takes him away to protect Mirian. I loved Mirian’s dad. Truly a father who loves his son. I like how innocent Mirian is. Being isolated he relies on his intuition to guide him.
Frey is a fair man. He is a strong werewolf who is unafraid to go after what he wants. I loved his kindness, strength, and loyalty. He is an excellent match for Mirian.
Overall, this is a great story, and it moves the series along in a positive way. I cannot wait for more from this series I want to see where it goes in the future.
If you haven't read Like Spun Moonlight, the first book in the series, you may want to read that before you start this one because there is a continuing story arc, and characters from that one who appear in this. The world of shifters and Bearers is intriguing and I'm invested enough to read the series. Mirian and Frey's story drew me in and I liked them as characters very much. Seeing them interact with Roman and Julian was great, and the villain of the piece was suitably villainy. This was nicely done at the beginning, setting up the story and getting to know the main characters' pertinent history then seeing them meet, but the rest of the story was a bit too rushed for me. I wanted more time with them finding their path together before mating, and a little more at the end too. I loved them as a couple but just felt a bit cheated.
So, we're still in the Bearers universe, and it's more insight into how the bearers are treated and the changes the characters are trying to make. Of course, we're also given some more beautiful fated mates and insta love, which I'm a sucker for. Miri and Frey are super cute together, and there's a twist about Miri's past that I won't detail for spoiler reasons, but that really makes things interesting!
Things I loved: *The aforementioned twist. Honestly, I didn't expect it. *Roman and Julian showing up again <3 Love those two. *The insta-love and how cute it was. I got such a Little Mermaid feel for just a second and I was squeeing on the inside. *Miri. He's honestly such a sweet character. I'm enjoying how the author is taking the bearers and making sure they have a strong personality so they stand out just as much as the Alpha/were characters in here!
Well...this second book was OK. I definitely enjoyed the first book a little more and was interested how this series was going to play out. Mirian was somewhat of a tragic character...being a bearer is almost a curse and he was sheltered from supposedly "harm" most of his life then a life changing event (meeting his mate) brought him into the real world. Frey sensing his mate right off on that island took a chance and found sweet and beautiful Mirian. A lot of family were against them but through it all they came through finally officially mated towards the end...a lot of twist and turns with this one...finally getting the truth was not too surprising but we get a happy outcome for the mated pair and the story continues on...
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This series remains a good quality one with the addition of the second book, Tempestuous Miracles. I fell in love with little Mirian in the prologue, and my feelings did not change as I learned more about him and saw his story unfold. Frey was the perfect alpha to help him with his situation. I love books with just the right amount of drama, sprinkled with occasional surprises, and this book delivered on that.
It is great when a series has some consistent characters throughout the series. Instead of seeming like a collection of short stories, it seems like one big book full of lovable characters that keep sharing their stories.
In this installment of this fated mates, loose retellings novella series we have Mirian who is hiding on an island to avoid an arranged marriage and his mate to be Frey. I enjoyed that we are getting more details into this Bearer world, and I absolutely loved see so much more of Roman Julien. I read an arc and I do highly recommend you do a binge reading of this novella series! It makes it more fun and flows with a connected world and plot, but new standalone romances!
Mirian & Frey we’re something else, their story was definitely a little quicker than Roman & Julian’s but just as beautiful! The love was so sweet and i can’t wait to meet their little ones in future story’s. My heart went out to mirian, it’s never easy being betrayed by someone who is suppose to love & protect you above all else. Their happy ending was pretty great and I can’t wait to read the next book! ❤️😀❤️😀
I really enjoy this series! I love the world building. It was quite unique. And it was very engrossing with the interesting and with wonderful and likable characters defying the odds to be together. In Tempestuous Miracles, it's the story of Mirian and Frey and the previous main characters making guest appearances.
Frey and Mirian both feel trapped by family obligations. Mirian is literally trapped on an island as a way to hide from his grandfather and those set to use and breed him. Frey is pressured by his father to mate, as an arranged marriage, to someone he only cared fornas a friend.
I loved meeting Luna, Roman and Julian again. Esp Luna, she seems like a pawfull
I'd recommend reading book 1 since the plot from there is present in this novella. Roman and Julian also feature quite heavily. I haven't read the tempest so I can't say how faithful this retelling is. I found it to be fast paced with likeable mc's The ongoing plot is interesting and I felt bad for Mirian
Short, sweet, steamy fated mates! Could it get any better!! Mirian a bearer has been hid away on an island for his protection! Frey a shifter alpha is drawn to the island and discovers his fated mate! A little angst and betrayal but a beautiful romance and HEA! I received this book from GRR and these are my honest opinions
Frey and Mirian’s story seems to just begun. Wish their book was longer. This is a short fast paced MM mate romance. Amazing chemistry despite people trying to keep them apart. Kept me hooked and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Recommend for people looking for a steamy short wolf mate romance.
I loved how different Mirian and Frey's story was from book 1. Instant recognition, swift to love but nothing is going to be easy in a story about Bearers. I loved that the characters from book 1 were present in this story too. I love the imagination this author has and I am always entertained their stories. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Nice, short, fast paced romance. Mirian and Frey were good together. Their connection was instant. Frey recognized his mate while on a boat trip. Despite the immediate attraction, there were barriers from others who didn't want to see them happy. Against all odds, they were able to mate and have a HEA.
**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
This is the second book in this series. This is Mirian and Frey's story! This a a good fast paced story with plenty of twists and turns. I enjoyed getting to know Mirian and Frey and I enjoyed their story! I'm excited to read book three. I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review!
This is the story of Mirian and Frey, it is also the 2nd book in the Bearers series. The twists and turns made for a fast paced read with wonderful characters. Personally I would have loved it to be a little longer. Definitely recommended.
I received this book as an Arc and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Another great book in this series. This story is about Mirian and Frey. This book again is a fast short pace read. My only issue is I wish it was longer. I highly recommend reading this series in order. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
The story continues in the Bearer universe... Another light retelling... What is up with all the Shakespeare? I have never understood the obsession people have with him, but oh well. Moving on. The story is an okay one. The first half was hard for me, because Mirian was just so.. ugh. So cliche. Then he showed his bearer bad-ass-ery and it got better. So steady on, sailors!
Nice continuation of the series. We meet both Frey and Mirian who are a couple of likeable characters and we get to catch up with Julian and Roman and the Montblanc pack and find out a little more about the mystery of the Bearers.
Mirian, a bearer, was hidden away on a remote island, when Frey felt his mate while on a boat trip when a storm hit them. A story of deceit, blind trust, betrayal and finally a happy ending. This author kept me glued to the pages till the end.
I was delighted by this story. Mirian was a very sheltered Bearer who was hidden away by his dad. He meets Frey a wolf who instinctively swam to his island. He eventually goes with Frey to meet and stay with Roman and Julian from book one. The book has odd adventures and is slow burn compared to book one. However, the story was very interesting. The plot twists plus the finding out more was great. I loved how this continued the story line from book one. Some things minorly disappointed such as not getting to the birth scene. I hope that this is to come soon in the next book. Despite this the story is super interesting. I highly recommend checking out this series.
What starts as an idyllic life on an isolated island for Mirian slowly becomes less satisfying and more confining as he gets older. While he understands the choices his father has made intellectually, emotionally he's looking for more. The appearance of Frey on the island, drawn by some force he doesn't understand brings these two together and sets off a wonderful fated mates story. Those familiar with Shakespeare's The Tempest will enjoy finding the references, but everyone else will also enjoy meeting these characters and getting to explore the world the author has created.
so good. i actually liked this one even better then book one.. and i really liked book one lol.. this was wonderfully sexy and interesting.. such a fun concept of mates and there is drama and love. this is so much fun.
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and I loved the characters. The Tempest was one of my favorite Shakespeare books back in school, so this was a really fun story for me. Bearer Mirian and werewolf shifter Frey were such wonderful characters and had great chemistry. The story was a little shorter than I usually like, but it was fast-paced and intriguing. I also enjoyed seeing some characters from book one. Couldn't put it down. 4 stars.
