Engaging, quick, and interesting read about Joe DiMaggio, his childhood as an Italian immigrant in San Francisco, and the early days of baseball. Facts that may surprise younger readers, like how to make a homemade baseball with a rock and rags and there were no night baseball games because fields didn't have lights.
As a child, I read so many of the biographies in the Childhood of Famous Americans series. The stories focus on the subject's childhood and how they developed into the person who became famous. The stories are a mix of fact and historical fiction, from before the time that historical fiction was a genre.

This book is about joe dimaggio's life and childhoodand there are intersting things in this book that I did not know like he was not good in school and he played for the San Francisco seals before he played for the Yankees.He also got a hit in 61 strait games for the seals. carson
