Loved it.....a quick action packed read from Marie Harte and a great continuation of the Circe's series (which I need to go back and reread) a hot and sexy read of Gideon and his pack who are turned into upgraded versions of the original circe's. I had forgotten that I received an ARC copy for an honest review

Back to the fabulous world where Circs go primal and into mating heat. Yum! When I saw Ms. Harte announcing a new one in this series, I became a bit moist down there… The Circs are dangerous humans with their DNA messed with so that they become almost like monsters. In this new breed, the protégée of the original mad scientist has mutated the strains even more. None of these humans are volunteers and instead of pulling from military men, these are men with a criminal past.
Gideon just wants it all to end. He has been tortured for longer than he can count. They have cut off body parts and also sliced into him. The latest, burning off his balls and dick is the last straw. He will do whatever it takes to break of out this secret lab and killing all the guards and medical staff as he exits. His only friends are merely body parts floating in a medical jar. Gideon is a man with nothing to lose.
This is one of the darker books in this world with more explicit torture. This helps set up the vibe for this new crop of Circs. This new group forming their own pack is not so willing to follow the rules. It works to their advantage. This is a nice addition to this world because the men are anti-heroes and this makes them alluringly dangerous.
The sex is hands down hawt. Ms. Harte writes erotic gang-banging sex exquisitely. No other can compare. The scenes are not raunchy. They are testosterone filled physical domination scenes which cause my panties to become drenched. The descriptions are vivid and incorporate several of the senses. Ms. Harte paints a wild picture of men gone primal. Throwing one lone female in the mix is so good. I can vicariously live through this battle of the sexes copulation.
The plot to the story is a nice set up for potentially more books in this series. This book does finish nicely with a much needed retribution served. There is still a little left open to set up for a following book. One only hopes it will not be another four years before she returns to this world. Recommended to paranormal romance lovers who enjoy parahumans engaging in violent sex and retaliation.

The Circs are back! And how much I missed them :) This book felt like returning to the world Marie Harte created in her previous Circe's Recruits books and I loved it.
This book focused on Gideon. A fighter that had the bad luck to be captured and turned into a Circ. He meets Alex, Elijah and Carter and forms a pack in the sexy way Circs form a pack. Be ready for some hot man on man action! Bailey is later added to this mix as . So this book contains M/F, M/M/F, M/M/M/M and probably more.
I find it hard to categorise this story. The romance was less important in this book, more important were introducing this new pack and building up a new enemy that I of course wanted to see defeated, but they could only deliver a small blow in this book.
I loved how you got to know all members of the pack and I wanted to hug them all. They have not had it easy and I am curious what mates Marie Harte has in store for them. I am hoping for some menages, because those are my favourite in this series. I understand why forming a new pack had the main focus in this book, but I hope romance is explored more in the next books :)

Marie Harte is a new author to me, and I found that her work was a little different which made me want to see what it was all about. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised.
What I have found is that anything goes in her world. There is MM MFM and anything in between. It is original, it is fun, it is sexy, it is sizzling, it is strangely erotic in this paranormal world, and you will need more than a long drink to cool down.
There is plenty of action and sexfests and you want to do away with the evil who place horrors against the characters. You want to be there to do harm when they infiltrate the enemy.
If you like something oh so sexy, spicy and erotic, steaming and exciting with multiple partners then this is a book you should grab and dive right in.

So cool to also see what the Circe's Recruits are up to, mentions Hayashi from Dawn Endeavor and even has Jack from PowerUp in it, tying the 4 series together nicely. Bit more gory than the other 3 series but an enjoyable read about 5 Circs becoming a family

This continuation of the original Circe’s Recruits series is great. Gideon and his pack is an upgraded breed of advanced Circ’s with new abilities and a better form of blending in. These guys are not the upstanding military volunteers for the program like the Circ’s of the past….these are the true bad boys of society. Most have no familial ties and they live in a trust no one, only depend on yourself world and definitely want nothing to do with any types of law enforcement. Always primed to fight for survival, getting kidnapped, drugged, enhanced and experimented on just adds to already volatile tendencies of this crew. Same as the original recruits, several of the new serum victims succumb to awful side-effects to include horrible deadly mutations to even death. Gideon and his fighting friends are of the few that survive the experiments and with the help of Roane and is pack, escape the underground lab where they are held and taken to their compound where they are checked out, given shelter and explanations of what has occurred to them. Thankful for the assistance, but not completely trusting of their rescuers, Gideon and his pack sequester themselves in one of the compound homes and begin making plans of their own. They want to take out the lab and everyone involved and Dr. Lang and his sadistic team are at the top of the list. Learning as they go what it means to be Circs, including their insatiable sexual urges and new abilities; everything is almost fitting into place. The only thing missing is the female that will complete their circle and stabilize the pack.
Bailey knows something is not quite right, but cannot put her finger on what it is. Working for the U-Ground Services in the transportation department was supposed to be a way to pay off her debt but she has a feeling something more sinister is going on. Her paranoid thoughts come to fruition when her friend Katie calls her panicked, desperate for help and is murdered while she is on the phone with her. In Katie’s frantic call she tells Bailey she sent her files and a location to retrieve more information needed to expose and shut down the U-Ground facility; her final words imploring Bailey to follow her instructions and take the information to New Jersey, to her brother and the Circs. Uncertain what to do, the decision is taken out of her hands when she notices changes happening to herself, unnatural changes and urges and erotic dreams of 4 men meant to be hers. The final push to follow her friend’s request comes when she is attacked and almost abducted. She has no choice now but to race to New Jersey and answers and hope she makes it before it is too late.

Circe's Recruits: Gideon is the latest in Marie Harte’s Circe’s Recruits series. Gideon is an underground fighter that has been kidnapped along with his two best friends and is being held by U-Ground and Dr Edwin Lang and his partners; he is a guinea pig for a new Circe formula. Gideon is becoming stronger and planning his escape when the book opens. Strapped to a table with steel bands he is connected to IV bags and electrodes whilst being poked and prodded by Lang and his assistant Smith. He manages to contract his muscles and force the needles out of his skin and learns his blood is now toxic to normal humans. He fights his way free from his torture room and joins with Alex, Eli, and Carter to escape U-Ground only to be confronted by Circe's Recruits Roane, McKinley, Derrick, Zack, Ace and Hale. Given the choice of coming with them quietly or facing the government’s men, the group go with Circe's Recruits.
Bailey is on her way home when Katie calls and tells her to run for her life. Katie had emailed her files to print out and to get the files to Circe's Recruits. Bailey does as she is told and begins a trek across the country to get the information to New Jersey to Circe's Recruits.

First read and reviewed in 2015 and I am still loving this series in 2021.
The series is now in KU so I will be reading them again.
Best to read in order to get the whole benefit of the sub stories so start with the original CIRCE’S RECRUITS and the follow-on series DAWN ENDEAVOUR.
If you want something that is a bit different, not quite shifter and not quite alien, along the lines of government science projects, genetically altering people, everything going wrong, scientists playing god, then this might just be for you.

They fight against the ones who could not take being turned, or just ended up bad and are called rogue circs.
This is the crossover book from the original Circe’s Recruits and the start of the new offshoot group Circe’s Recruits 2.0.
Marie has done it again.
I love this book. I did not think Marie could do any better than the previous series Circes Recruits and Dawn Endeavour but she has managed it with Gideon, a whole new group of Circs for us to love and support.
I hope we find out more about the new boys on the block and Bailey, as this series progresses.

First to get this out of the way....YAY!! I had no idea Ms. Harte was releasing a new book in this series. I thought it was over so I was so excited to see this one posted on Facebook. It's been a few years since I read the other four books. I do really like this series.
Gideon, a man kidnapped and genetically altered, turning him into a beast knows two things, one he is still alive and two, the doctor and staff that tortured him will not be alive much longer once he gets free. Being a Circ means almost everything about him has changed. He is now a man with a beast living inside and this beast wants to hurt, destroy and kill. This beast also wants the man rescuing him in ways that Gideon never thought he would want a man. Alex is looking for his sister when he finds Gideon and the others, Elijah and Carter. With the help of the original Circs he frees the men. Not as free as they thought, they were the new Circs bond and form a new pack with only one thing missing, the female that will bring them all even closer.
I'm so glad this series had a new book and I am looking forward to many more.

While I was finally ready to get another book in the CR series, Gideon kinda left me on the fence. Since its part of the Series I thought the new guys/gurl were going to stay at the compound and blend in the with others. I'm just not feeling Gideon as an Alpha.... Unlike Roane who commands submission and obedience, Gideon is leading by being the one in da group with the strongest gifts. In a way he reminds me of McKinley (guessing he didn't destroy all Hiz blood samples) but he not as powerful as Robbie. I was hoping for a better update on everyone else and not more questions. I'm hoping the series continues and finally we'll have everyone under docs care living on da compound as one big happy family.

Circe's Recruits: Gideon, has everything you want in a paranormal romance. Sexy, strong, virile shifters, a killer plot line filled with tons of action- of both the sexy and dangerous kind. There is also several moments of laugh out loud dialog too. In the sexy time department, it covers M/M, M/M/F, M/F and group sex. The sexy times are scorching and just as action packed as the rest of the story. The shifters in this story aren't you're average tiger or wolf. They are much more complex in that they are mutant, a combination of different compounds from different species make up these beasts. It makes for an interesting read. I liked it a lot and enjoyed that it wasn't the usual shape shifter rigmarole.

Ah, challenges. Bringing everyone out of their comfort zone. My review, in short, is that this one didn't do it for me. There was a bit of rough sex, some protective feelings, but little no romance. This is usually the reverse problem in the books I've read.
The writing was just okay, the characters were one -dimension and the "The Mating Heat" is one of the oldest tropes in literature. It was a little bit of a slog but I'm glad I finished it.
