Well, this had its goods and bad. I had fun at times with these two characters and of course Reese getting to know them and what makes them tick, and learned some new things. I loved the cover it is adorable. I loved Sam, always bonus points to whenever a book has a cute dog (hopefully one day I also have a cutie like that though I hope mine doesn't open doors).
HOWEVER it felt more like a what is Dyslexia and what can you do with it and WOW what a gift - guide than a romance novella with talk about dyslexia. Also, it felt just a tad preachy. Not to mention instalove? Thinking about how it would be if she was part of the family... There were also some other parts that just had me scratching my head, like how Kellen was so sus about it and apparently thought everything would be solved in mere days, or how Zoey thought she could just get a dog, is that how it works in the US, because here it is not as easy as just go up to somewhere and find the EXACT dog you want and it is not as simple to just get it home, you need to click with the dog.

Christmas on Cougar Mountain by Nancy Radke is the first book by the author that I have read and I am so happy that I discovered her!

This is the story of Zoey who lives alone and teaches children with Dyslexia. A chance finding of a stray dog leads her to meet Kellen and his son, Reece who have just arrived to the town and to whom this stray belongs. This encounter soon leads to a heartwarming love between two people who are both wary and have their own reasons to not want to go the romance way. Will this festive season bring these two lovers together?

The cover, blurb and title are intriguing and had my interest peaked enough to read the book.

The plot is a straight forward one but it is the author's writing style and research on Dyslexia that makes this book a memorable one.

Nancy has a realistic, simple and yet engaging writing style. She had me feeling connected to the characters in the book and I especially connected to Reece who is so intelligent but hampered due to Dyslexia. The author has done her research on this condition and she gives valuable nuggets of wisdom to the readers that will surely help them understand people with this condition better and help them.

I learned so much about Dyslexia from this book and I am so thankful to Nancy for writing about a character with this condition and succeeding in showing that despite having Dyslexia, such people can be highly intelligent and be successful in life if only they are taken care of properly and helped to control their condition.

The romance between Kellen and Zoey looks a bit rushed but still managed to make me fall in love with these characters and had me rooting for a happily-ever-after for them.

I adored the dog, Sam who is so intelligent that he can free himself from any closed space. His escape adventures had me laughing and wishing for a similarly intelligent dog for myself.

All in all, Christmas on Cougar Mountain by Nancy Radke is a true holiday romance complete with Christmas magic and conveys the message that anything is possible if only we strive to achieve it. I enjoyed and loved the story and recommend it to all romance lovers. Curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy this sweet Christmassy romance. 4 out of 5 to it from me and I hope to read more from the author in the future.

I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

I love when books address developmental "disorders" that often get overlooked. Besides being a cute, clean romance, this story made me examine my parenting. It gave me ideas about teaching unique kids in the ways they best understand, and the importance of an individual.

A good read.

This was an interesting story. It moved along smoothly even though it was short it told a complete story. Dyslexia is very wide spread though in my teaching high school, I found some of the students with varied labels put on them too early. Instead of trying to help them they were pushed through the system. Until this story I had never heard of the Davis Dyslexia Association. I'm slightly dyslexic and had a good 1st grade teacher that helped me get through the alphabet. I wasn't labeled but did get some reading help in 4th grade. There should be more stories like this and others explaining some of the other learning problems in this form. Very informative also very good sweet romance.

I really enjoyed this book - not just for the romance story (which was fun) but because it touch me in a few too many ways. I recognized a lot of Reese's issues from when I was a child. This was before dyslexia was well known. I had problem with reading and went to special reading classes but they didn't help. It wasn't until I took a remedial English class at a Junior College that it clicked and I have been a book junkie since then. I also live alone and falling and not being able to get up or anyone finding me is a true fear for me.

Sweet, touching and rewarding

Understand this is a sweet (as in not scorching hot) love story involving faith, fate and hope. The role fate plays in bringing together Kellen, young widower, his son Reese, their dog Sam and the kind hearted Zoey is only the start of a charming story. Tying together the Christmas spirit, learning to trust and opening your mind and heart to new possibilities is the crux of this well written and interesting tale.

First time reading this author. Christmas on Cougar Mountain is a calm sweet romance starring Sam a very special border collie and Reese a young child that has the "gift" of dyslexia. Zoey is trained to work with children and adults like Reese. She, Kellem, Reese, and Sam were brought together as a result of her finding a very bewildered Sam by the Freeway. A chance meeting brought a special richness to all their lives. I recommend.

Kellen Washburn takes his son Reese to Cougar Mountain to find their dog Sam and a woman named Zoey Cox finds their dog on the freeway. Zoey offers to help Reese who suffers from dyslexia but Kellen is hesitant as he believes that Zoey’s ability to help Reese is a hoax. Kellen watches and learns to trust Zoey and they both start to fall in love with each other. I really enjoyed this sweet short-story holiday fiction novel.

A Cinderella story on Cougar Mountain, with an escape artist playing fairy godmother, and a child getting a fresh start. A lost dog on the freeway. A lost woman skilled in working with dyslexic children. A lonely father and son all brought together by the happenstance of Christmas. Very intense at times. A great read. 5 stars.

Challenges!

Christmas on Cougar Mountain: I loved that it was a story about challenges. I like that it's topic that isn't written about a lot. Dyslexia is a big challenge for children and adults. I loved how it was handled and how it was written. I loved that it brought dad and teacher together. Wonderful romance and great story!

The Gift of Dyslexia

Zoey has found a lost dog and taken him home. Soon she gets a call from Kellen that it is he's son's dog Sam. When Zoey meets Reese, she tells Kellen she can help his son. Nancy has written a very informative story about Dyslexia.
A must read for people to help them understand this condition. It was so interesting I couldn't put it down.

A mountain woman

This was a great short story about a woman trying to keep her farm going after her husband left an the boys went off to war. A sweet love story in the end. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did and the author writing this book.

I really liked this holiday romance. It is very clean, only kissing. I liked how Zoey and Kellen interacted. And how Zoey helps Reese, his son, who is dyslexic. Really wanted a bit more at the end. Wanted to see Reese doing well back in school and maybe a pregnancy announcement.

What can I say?
Lovely.
I love the cover. In fact, the cover made me stop and read the blurb and read the ebook. What a beautiful short story. I have fun, and I like the storyline and also learn more about dyslexia.
