With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the townsfolk of Belhaven are busy preparing for the upcoming feast with friends and family.
When a body is discovered in the vacant farmhouse across the street from Gloria Rutherford's place, Gloria is horrified to think that someone...a killer, is on the loose.
Things go from bad to worse when she discovers that the body found in the house is none other than her best friend, Lucy Carlson's ex-boyfriend.
The police uncover evidence that points to Lucy as the murderer and possibly Gloria as an accomplice. Police are hot on Lucy's trail and the lead investigator is gunning for her arrest.
Can Gloria track down the real killer before it's too late? Or will Lucy take the fall and spend Thanksgiving in the slammer?
The gun toting grannies are back and this time they mean business! When Gloria's bestie Lucy is under suspicion for the murder of her ex boyfriend, these ladies stop at nothing to clear her name! They do a little sleuthing, a little breaking and entering, and a whole lot of praying to prove Lucy innocent. A laugh until you cry who-done-it that will definitely put you in the mood for Thanksgiving
I absolutely love this series. I could read about these wonderful women forever. Each story is fun to read. This one is no exception. This one also has guns, hunting, murder, faith, and my favorite....food. Combined together this made for an excellent and engaging read. Looking forward to starting book 10 now.
Been reading this series the last few week. The books are sweet although a little too religious for me. If you are a stickler for good writing though these books have continuity errors and grammatical mistakes. For instance in this one, after a night of sleuthing action Gloria falls into bed fully clothed and falls into a deep sleep. Her dog gets her up in the morning and she puts her robe on. Friends come over and she is still in her robe and then goes to get dressed. This book also has some deer hunting in it for those who don’t like hunting.
Ms.Callaghan has done given another great storey for us readers to enjoy. Her wanderfull caracters of strong woman who cope with most any frightful dilemma, supporting one another while figuring out who the nefarious group of suspects might be while also dealing with every day life. Join the rest of the Hope Callaghan fallowers in reading the Garden Girls Christian Cozy Mystery's that come before , this one ,and those that fallow. 🤔🙄😊 Kat
Gloria Rutherford is part of the Garden Girls of Belhaven. Gloria discovers that the dead body found in the vacant farmhouse across from her is her best friend Lucy Carlson’s ex-boyfriend Bill Volk. The police question Lucy about Bill’s murder and she becomes a suspect. Gloria and her Garden Girls, Dot, Margaret, Ruth and Andrea get together to help prove Lucy's innocence of the murder. I really enjoyed this fantastic cozy mystery novel. There are delicious recipes included in the book.
I enjoy your Garden Girls very much. Thank you for books I can read without a lot of unpleasant language. They are always books I can recommend to anyone, including my Grandchildren without being embarrassed. I also love the Savannah books. Since I love going to Savannah.
Julie convinces Gloria to go deer hunting with her and when they get home the house across the street has a police presence. Julie's ex boyfriend was found murdered inside and Julie and Gloria are suspects. The garden girls are on the case and Gloria is trying to prepare for Thanksgiving and her wedding. Great reading
I really enjoyed this bop!. It had just enough suspense and whodunnit! I especially liked the relationships the ladies shared and the support the men added to the mix?
I love a good series, and the Garden Girls is right there! There is great continuity with each main character, but always a new mystery with a few twists and turns.
The girls are getting closer and so is Gloria's big day. I guessed a suspect but was very surprised who the main suspect was. I looking forward to reading book 10.
I gave 5 stars. I love the garden girls this cosy is a Thanksgiving good time mystery. This time round it's poor Lucy who's in hot water. Hey when one of your friends get blamed for murder you do what you have to do right? Next problem the wedding, can't wait to see what's up with that lol.
I like that not all the murders are committed the same way. There is always something new. And, amazingly enough, everyone manages to have a murder, solve it and share their lives with out cussing, using the Lord's name in vain or sleeping with each other before getting married!!! Christian fiction that is light, entertaining and shows that Christians do have fun! Amen to that!!!
Fall Girl is the ninth book in the Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series and can be read as a stand-alone; however, I recommend reading the entire series because you see the development of the characters and their relationships. All the characters in Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls Series are real life people whom one can easily identify with; the friendship Gloria and her “girls” share is amazing. Ms. Callaghan smoothly blends faith, friendship, mystery, and intrigue into her books. The characters, combined with Ms. Callaghan’s writing style and the twists and turns in this book, make it hard to put down. This is an ideal cozy mystery … it’s a fun, clean read, with no bad language, graphic violence, or adult situations. I found myself laughing out loud more than once and the reveal surprised me.
Gloria Rutherford has a vague memory of telling her best friend, Lucy Carlson, she would “think” about going deer hunting with her. When Lucy shows up at Gloria’s door with hunting gear and rifles Gloria can’t disappoint her dear friend even though she doesn’t want to hunt or kill anything. When they return to Gloria’s house after their adventure, they learn that Bill Volk, Lucy’s ex-boyfriend, has been murdered and his body dumped across the street from Gloria’s house. Gloria and Lucy fear that someone is trying to frame them for Bill’s murder. The Garden Girls are determined to help prove their innocence.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The members of the Garden Girls are all different ages. The oldest is Gloria Rutherford & they all live in a small town, Belhaven. The others are: Dot, Margaret, Lucy, Ruth & Andrea. A dead body is found in abandoned farm house across the street from Gloria's farm house & land. Later the Sheriff Dept. says it's Bill Volk, ex boyfriend of Lucy. Officer Nelson believes Lucy murdered Bill. They bring her in for questions but don't arrest her. Bill Volk owned Seasons Sporting Goods. Where his brother works with two others. One who dated Bill after he & Lucy broke up. Gloria decides the ladies need to find out who the murder is. Glorias fiancee Paul is also a Sheriff Deputy in a different district. Now once it is known they are investigating, things start to happen. Things become more dangerous, more suspects added to the list. Many prayers are said. In the end will they figure out who killed Bill? And whose life maybe in danger by the killer? It's a good read, laughter, tears & many emotions too. I enjoyed this book very much.
I thought I had finally figured one out then BAM. Yep, I was wrong again. Well done as usual. I love these characters, can't get enough of the garden girls and their adventures. I love the inclusion of religion and also our freedoms as Americans, within the story line, without ever feeling preachy. this group shows that older ladies still have it. Though I would personally have a great deal of trouble keeping up with them, I love reading about them and their special bond. Yet another great read. Thank you Hope Callahan for a job well done.
