Rate this book
Ove is a lonely soul with nothing left to live for. He has lost his wife and child to a horrific accident that leaves him
crippled mentally.
What ends up happening in A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman is nothing less than magic. A grumpy, bitter man who believes it is him against the word warms
our hearts and invites us in.
The plot is predictable, but the reader will be surprised to fall in love with and want to cheer for this older man.

Absolutely loved it. The funniest book I've read this year. The dryness of the lead male Swedish character who just creeps under your skin and endears himself contrasted with the sparky pregnant middle Eastern neighbour. The plot is too delightful to reveal. As it unfolds the characters and story embraces the reader in its web. A must read. And I've watched the movie twice.

Entertaining read, although it was going to end. Funny at the attempts, but each time he was needed.

I laughed and cried at the same time. A wonderful book that shows how we should all except people for who they are. Loved.

What a special main character. Not such a grouchy guy after all.

It's a very good study of how one man deals with loss and change in his life. I read it after I saw both movies and thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I liked the cultural aspect of the novel as I have not read many novels set in Scandinavia. The story was tedious but this mirrored the life of Ove. I don't know that a person would be likely to change greatly in old age. Perhaps he became more of himself but expanded his contact circle which had mostly been limited to his wife until she died.

Poignant, witty, uplifting. A man called Ove is quite a man indeed. Ashe slowly opens himself to life through his new neighbours and a very particular cat he comes to terms with loss, and changes and begins to live again.

BEST vacation book EVER. Zoe lent it to me. i couldn't put it down. The way the ,main character shows his sensitive side is absolutely wonderful. i loved him by the end of the book. I cried. I creied and then I cried again. I will definitely re-read this one some day soon.

This was a great story of a very unhappy man who's live was changed by one act of kindness.
It made you sometimes laugh and then at other time want to cry. I would like to read other books by this author

I enjoyed this book. If you read it you will see that his wife had him pegged as a person.
It reminded me of the Grumpy Old Men story. Personally he would of drove me nuts.
There was love and humour in this book, so what more can you ask for.

Heartwarming and heart-wrenching. You will grin sometimes, but keep a box of tissues nearby.

Waste

This book was all above the writer and not Ove. I should have listened to the other reviewer. Short ripoff!
