Lacking the loopy charm of Margaret Wise Brown’s original, this early reader holiday edition seems surprisingly busy for the one-year-old who is the intended recipient. Rather than a day in the life of the holiday itself as it winds down, the book sums up an entire month leading up (including an advent calendar just begun) and doesn’t even land the title at the end: “Good night, children” - c’mon! How many of these traditions persist outside of the most reverent Christian families, like snow angels and midnight Mass? Might need to return this book before the twelve days of Christmas have begun. Thank goodness for gift receipts!

This is an adorable board book about Christmas. I have to give it 5 stars since the 2 year old I read it to asks me to read it to her all the time (it is August and we are reading it once again).

It is a story of two young children enjoying Christmas and then saying goodnight. It it is sturdy quality board book with pages that will not tear. The photos are beautiful and colorful. The message is very simple and appealing to a young child.

It is a cozy Christmas read. A good bedtime story.

I love all the books in the Good Night series by this author.
