In this captivating romance about the inimitable Duncan sisters and their clandestine matchmaking service, a handsome new client throws youngest sister Chastity into an unexpected quandary.

Chastity listens to Dr. Douglas Farrell’s distressingly unromantic requirements for a wife: wealth and social status. Her instinct is to refuse service to the tall, muscular, dark-eyed physician, but she can’t turn away a paying client. Yet the doctor conceals a secret. He’s prepared to sacrifice his bachelorhood for his true passion: caring for the poorest of London’s poor. Of course, his dream requires capital. For that, he is convinced he needs a well-to-do, well-connected wife. Little does Chastity know that if she ever learned the selfless truth, the handsome doctor just might steal her heart. And if Douglas ever lifted the veil that covers this mysterious woman, he might discover his perfect match.

The Wedding Game
4 Stars

A new arrival in London, Dr. Douglas Farrell, requires a wife of wealth and status to help fund his fledgling medical practice for the poorest members of the city. Unaware of his true motives, Charity Duncan, the Go-Between matchmaker for The Mayfair Lady newspaper, is appalled by Douglas's requirements. Nevertheless, she and her sisters cannot afford to turn clients away. Thus, begins Charity's search for the bride that Douglas deserves even though his perfect match is closer than either of them suspects ...

The final installment in Jane Feather's trilogy revolving around the Duncan sisters and their controversial newspaper is just as entertaining as the first two books. While it follows the same opposites-attract/love-hate relationship formula as Constance and Prudence's stories, Chastity and Douglas's pairing is slightly different as neither views the other as a potential love interest, and their attraction catches them unaware.

One of the best aspects of this series is the Edwardian setting and the fact that each hero is a working man with a profession that sets the tone for the book. This time the focus is on Douglas's medical practice and poverty-stricken patients. Feather does not shy away from describing the atrocious living conditions in the slums nor does she hesitate to portray the snobbery and apathy that characterizes the upper classes in society.

Chastity and Douglas's romance is engaging and they have strong chemistry. That said, the inclusion of is annoying. Thankfully, this does not last too long.

Although the main conflict revolves around Chastity's secret identity, Feather handles the problems associated with the secret-keeping trope with aplomb. Not only is there a logical and reasonable explanation for the secret, but it is revealed at the right time without the tension-filled waiting that can ruin the romance. It is also interesting that this time it is the heroine and not the hero who is at fault and must make amends.

Overall, this is an entertaining conclusion to an enjoyable series and I am eager to read more of Feather's works.

Tretia časť trilógie o podnikavých, ambicióznych a emancipovaných sestrách, pričom v každom dieli sledujeme inú sestru. Jane Featherová to urobila inak a funguje to bravúrne.

The third book in the Mayfair Lady trilogy.

This one is very different with a view of the poverty of the time in early 20th century London.

The youngest Duncan, Chastity has been asked to find a 'rich' wife for a young Doctor and there is a lot of humor as the sisters try to match him up with the wrong woman. Chastity, of course, doesn't have the money to help him in his career but she's the one he's looking at.

Another book with deliciously humorous scenes with Signorina Della Luca and the 'Dottore'.

I liked Chas and Douglas's story and thought they made a good couple. I wish there would have been a bit more of a tie up on how Douglas's practice was going to be handled. As well as, how or why The Mayfair Lady should continue, since the reasons for keeping it going no longer applied.

2.5. Well surprise, I liked this book the same as the others. The pacing was maybe a little better than the other two though. I didn't mind Douglas as a character, but didn't like Chastity. The three female characters in these books were really unlikeable. Too judgemental for me.

3.5 stars. Another enjoyable book to conclude the trilogy. I read all three books back-to-back, and felt as if I knew the three sisters and the whole family quite well. I think it is probably a trilogy that's better read in order, to fully understand the sisters and their shenanigans.

I liked both MCs of this book: Douglas, the Scottish doctor, and Chastity, the youngest and only unmarried Duncan sister. I have to admit I would have liked a bit more overt romance between the two of them earlier in the book. Still, it was a pleasant read, as was the whole trilogy. My fav of the three was the first book, The Bachelor List, but they were all well worth reading. I will definitely go on and try other books by this author.

The perfect book to cheer me up when I'm having a bad day. The dialogue is entertaining, the characters likable, and the hero easy to fall in love with.

On the other side of the coin, it's predictable and lacking in any real gravitas. Since the hero is doctor I thought he would diagnose something mysterious or heal someone, nope.

Also the romance goes from zero to one hundred miles in hour in about two days, that was off-putting. Also the Christmas setting for all their naughtiness felt dirty.

I didn't read the first two books in the series, but this one could stand alone. I think the other two would be a nice diversion. The characters are well represented here, I like that in a series.

Loved this series! Read the first two out of order and perhaps that was why I didn't like the first one as much as the other two. The time frame (early 20th century) with the suffragette elements make the series unique. In this one youngest sister Chasity meets her match, complicated by the fact he's a customer of The Go Between, The Mayfair Lady's matchmaking service. Dr. Douglas Farrell is seeking a wife with money to finance his slum practice. He finds Chastity instead. The dynamic with the older two sisters and their husbands we know from the other two books makes this one especially interesting to fans of the series.

Although an enjoyable read, there could have been so much more to the plot. The hero is a doctor who works with the poorest of the poor in London. This was barely touched on in the story - one scene. There could have been so much more about his practice to give the story more depth. And the ending didn't tie up how he was going to fund this practice. The whole book was based on the premise that he wanted to marry a rich woman to fund his practice in the slums but fell for our heroine instead.

I am a total sucker for matchmaking in Romance novels, so this book was a no-brainer for me, and overall I really enjoyed it. I loved the main character, Chastity, and her two sisters. While I would have liked to see a little sisterly friction on the realism aspect, I was definitely jealous of how well they got along and all of their in-jokes. And I loved Chastity's wit and the way she played off of the people around her.

Douglas too is a great hero. Even while Chastity was struggling to decide whether or not she liked him I did. It was a nice to read about a hero who had actual goals and cared for people instead of laying around down nothing all day. Or going to his club. (Actually, this brings up my biggest quibble in that I went in expecting Regency romance, but instead The Wedding Game is set some time in the early nineteenth century. I had a lot of trouble wrapping my head around the time frame. Cars? Electricity? Surely not!) And while Douglas' goals might have been a bit mercenary, namely that of a rich wife, he was incredibly likeable.

My only other problems with the book were minor: first, the point of view changes were always a little abrupt and right in the middle of a paragraph. It was easy to get used to, but there were a few times where it jarred me out of the story enough to notice. And second, there was one really bad typo, and though I normally don't notice typos, this one was within two sentences. On the same page.

Overall, The Wedding Game is an enjoyable, quick read, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Apparently, I did not know of this trilogy, so I just finished the last book. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to reading the first 2 of the tril.

Three sister's have a private business of being matchmakers. In this last bk, Chastity the younger of the 3 sisters, sat talking to Dr Douglas Farrell's distressingly unromantic requirements for a wife. Of couse Chastity is wearing a veil and speaking with a French accent so she is not found out. Bad accent to be sure and Dr. Farrell's picks up on that... but not who she is until he and she fall deeply in love. She finds him the bride to be, she's rich and has a high social status. That's what he thought he wanted in a wife, but life has many strange twists and turns..........oh I did enjoy this book..........

An enjoyable read for sure!

Chastity and her two sisters, to deal with their family's crumbling finances, have taken to publishing a broadsheet--and taking on clients as matchmakers. Chas meets Douglas, who wants to be a client, in disguise to protect her identity, and is infuriated to learn that his only criteria for a wife are that she be wealthy and socially connected, to help him establish a lucrative physicians' practice. No need for the woman to be otherwise appealing, since he has no desire for a caring relationship. The story goes from there in directions that I kind of saw coming. The only thing I didn't see coming is the guy's offense when all the secrets are revealed, as if Chas did him wrong. But oh, well, it makes for some dramatic tension. I've liked other reads by Feather better, but this one was OK.

Man I used to love these in my teens. Wish I had not read them again. They're all variations on a theme, they find a guy it won't work out with, talk about the actually good reasons it won't work for 80% of the book, then suddenly decide to ignore this and marry. With the oldest sister, her being a publically outspoken suffragrette WILL fuck with his political career, then suddenly they decide to get together anyhow and keep on doing what they're doing and suddenly it isn't s problem. In this one it's the money he needs and none of them has. They still don't have money by the end. I would almost prefer a deus ex machina fix.

Last? in a series of which I don't think I've read any others. First impressions, misperceptions, false fronts, rethinking what one really wants, and finding it.

Chastity meets Douglas when he hires her to find him a wife. Except he doesn't know who she is and he doesn't share what he's really about. She doesn't like him, but is thrown together with him due to her business. She finds him exactly what he asks for, but he changes his mind. He wants her. And she wants him. Of course there's anger and unhappiness on both sides, but everything has to come together, eventually.
