Kae here! Summer vacation is over, but back at school, even cool gentlemanly Mutsumi-senpai is turning up the heat around me, so I guess even he has an intense side?
I'm seeing his passion even more now that his older brother, Mr. Mutsumi, has become a student-teacher at our school...and wants to whisk me away from all four boys!
It's brother vs. brother as the Mutsumi men both try to win my affections, but I'm enjoying this action! A fiery battle between two gorgeous bothers and a teacher-student setup?!
I never thought I'd get to see so much taboo in the flesh! I wonder if the boys can outwit such a mischievous older man...
Original thoughts: Extra points because it's an entire volume dedicated to the only guy in the series who deserves Kae: Mutsumi-senpaaaaai.
Updates: Still feel the same as above, because Mutsumi is best boy. His brother seems to mostly just be playing around and isn't serious in his "pursuit" of Kae. I think all of it is just him pushing his little brother to go after what he wants for once. If he was being legit, though, it's gross.
This is a review for Vol.2/3/4 and the latest one, volume 5.
I don't know, by Vol.5 I am actually getting a bit bored with this series. It is pretty much the same thing over and over again, just with adding new characters. 4 hot boys + a fujoshi. And now we have a brother and also a girl added to the mix. But again, still the same shenanigans. The 4 hot boys (and now the one girl) try to protect/love/like the main girl and of course this is never going right and thus insert (semi)hilarious situations.
The most fun I had when the new girl was introduced, I loved her and how she acted with our main girl (yay! Yuri!), but after a while the new was gone from the girl and she acted pretty much like the guys. I had to remind myself she was a girl at times (mostly because how she looked).
My favourite parts from these volumes would be the comiket Winter part (how our main girl tricked the guys into helping her getting BL stuff (they didn't know it was BL stuff)). How after a whole day the guys were all dead and she was still pumped up. Then the other one would be the Valentines day and what happened afterwards. How to motivate a fujoshi? Well, easy. Just add BL rewards and voilà. I especially loved the twist at the end. Poor guys.
The latest volume ends with a huge, really HUGE, cliffhanger. Which kind of bothers me, and I am also happy to see it finally happening. Bothers me, because now I will have to wait for a long time to see what will happen, how will our main character react/what will she say? And I am happy to see it finally happening, because it took until now to happen. Sure we had some smaller similar things happening, but nothing huge as this.
All in all, it is still a series I would recommend, even though I will warn you that it will get a bit boring and more of the same.
Today's post is on Kiss Him, Not Me!, Vol. 5 by Junko. It is 160 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Kae with two of the main leads on it. As it is the fifth in the series, you need to have read the first four volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes comedy, shojo, and manga tropes. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the main character, Kae. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the back of the manga- Kae here! Summer vacation is over, but back at school, even cool gentlemanly Mutsumi-senpai is turning up the heat around me, so I guess even he has an intense side? Review- This volume is very cute. Kae's senpai Mustsumi has not really thought about his feels for her and when his brother, a student teacher, expresses interest in her, Mustsumi has to think about his feelings. Some good character growth in this volume with Kae and Mutsumi. Of course there is still Kae being a fan girl and having very silly thoughts about the boys around her. I am curious if the story is going to become a little more serious, if so I don't think that would be a bad thing.
I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
“It's true that Senpai isn't the self-assertive type, but... he has a strong heart... and he's truly kind. He's helped me a lot in times of trouble.”
This was the best volume yet! I was on the edge of my seat, with my heart pounding out of my chest the whole time. The change in Senpai was really well done, especially how he gradually realized that his feelings toward Kae weren't just platonic, and I think he's kind of stolen the show for me.... I still really like the other characters, this is one of the only mangas where I think every character is just fantastic, but something about Mutsumi is drawing my attention more and more.
I am getting very excited as this series progresses! I love the dynamic with the two brothers and how they had a duel to determine the winner. The cave treasure hunt was a little silly, but it lead to a fun story later on. A teacher was in this one who was wildly inappropriate with his students, but hey, if you can get past other "problamatic" issues in this series, than this one is a piece of cake. To each their own on that front. I personally LOVE this series and I cannot wait to see where it continues after where the anime ended. I am dying to know how it ACTUALLY ends! Highly recommend!
This was amazing! Wow! This was my fave volume in the series so far.
I loved this one as we finally got to see and learn more about my favourite character Mutsumi!!! This boy is literally a precious angel.
I loved learning more about him as a person. We learned he was afraid of the dark which brought out some hand holding which was cute. What makes Mutsumi so different from the other boys is that he didn’t realize he had feelings for Kae until this volume. It was cute seeing him discover his feelings for her and fight for them.
We also met Mutsumi’s brother who is the biggest creep ever. What I found funny though was whenever he tried asking Kae out, she flat out rejected him by saying she was in love with Shion, a fictional character.
Overall, this volume made me laugh so much and while it isn’t perfect, it’s very amusing and such a fun read. Excited to continue on.

More of a 3.5 star rating but I gave it 4 stars because I love the drama that’s happening in this volume. I think this volume really made me care about Mutsumi-senpai more and I was very glad at how the last chapter went. Also, his older brother is a giant butt-hole.
I enjoy this series for the main characters. The student teacher/brother was just weird. I don't like that the book was kind of saying that it was okay for teachers/student teachers to flirt with students. Not okay.
This volume broke one of my cardinal manga rules and they made it work! They brought in a new character and used the occasion to broaden our knowledge of one of the original characters. To say more would be to spoil the story. But, my extra star shows my reaction.
Well, I’m still here reading. This story is unrealistic and oversexualizes the main female character. But there are so few good options licensed right now, so here I am 💁🏻♀️
