Another very enjoyable read. This one focuses on the mid-eighteenth century Jacobite clans uprising in the Highlands of Scotland. In modern day the main character Sophia attends a Highland games festival. This read made me want to brush up on my Scottish history. Can't wait to see where the next quilt square brings me.
This was a "double story." At first I wasn't sure I would like going back in time then to present. But it was well written and I enjoyed both story lines and the connections.
HIGHLAND TREACHERY is a delightful cozy mystery, especially for fans of Scottish history. It alternates between the present and the 18th century. In the present, Sofia Parker is delving into the mysteries behind a tartan patch in an heirloom quilt as well as embroiled in a baking contest controversy at a Highland game. In the 18th century, Sofia’s ancestor is a Scottish herbalist entangled in murder case. This quick light read is packed with historical details, and wonderfully smart and courageous women. A great choice for lovers of cozy mysteries
