Wow. This book is -- something. Seriously though, I really liked all the different recipes -- they weren't full of dyes or lab-made ingredients, and they covered a lot of territory. I first added this to my list back before I was married and I thought it was kind of goofy. Well, I'm married now, and it's not. Not too much anyway ;)
Introduction: The Language of Love Chapter 1: Lascivious Libations Chapter 2: Scentual Treasures to Entice and Delight Chapter 3: Aromatic Baths to Silken the Skin and Set the Mood Chapter 4: Luxurious Oils for Sensual Massage Chapter 5: Edible Body Butters, Balms, and Lubricants Chapter 6: Love Potions: herbal Tonics to Inspire Passion Chapter 7: Delectably Decadent Sweets Chapter 8: Aphrodite’s Apothecary: Everything You Need
The chapter on libations is all about tastes and cordials. The sangria sounds amazing, and I have the perfect wine to use. Chapter 2 provides instructions for making body powers, sprays, and oils. Since I make soap, lotions, and deodorants, these fragrance combinations will be interesting to try. In chapter 3, the author suggests bathing with milks and creams. The recipes in this chapter along with chapters 4, 5, and 6 sound good but I am always cautious when an author suggests ingesting essential oils. She mentions that the recipes are edible and using essential oils neat, I would caution readers to research the essential oils prior to any use.

This review is based on a complementary copy from the publisher and was provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
I was not impressed with the general layout of the color choices and the pictures .. the actual recipes .. the "Love Potions" are more for loving yourself.. there is a certain feeling that when one makes a perfume or a body powder to make herself/himself more desirable , like when you get ready for a special event . it empowers you.. this book should empower you
A lot of really interesting DIY projects to keep the spark in your love life whether you're looking for bath & body or drink recipes, there's something in here for everyone.
****I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.****
Tourles 25 years of experience in teaching and practicing healthy living translates into over 60 potions that even beginners will have no trouble tackling.
The potions appear in seven different chapters and range from drinks—alcoholic and non; perfumes, bath salts, massage oils, edible body butters and lubricants, herbal tonics and decadent sweets.
Outside of some of the less common herbal ingredients, which most people should still be able to find at a local health store or co-op, the potions include easily found items like coconut oil, raw honey, vitamin E oil, beeswax and common household spices like cinnamon and vanilla.
Each chapter of Making Love Potions is relatively short, usually under 10 recipes or potions, but have enough variety that readers should be able to find something they like.
The last chapter, titled Aphrodite’s Apothecary, includes a comprehensive list of the items required to make the various potions in the book as well as a listing of suppliers--in case you have trouble finding the ingredients locally. This section also includes basic info on base and essential oils, thickeners and hydrosols, which will be helpful for the those new to creating their own herbal potions.
The sensually colored illustrations by Madalina Andronic—in purple, red and pink tones—complement the book’s subject perfectly and are inclusive by showing all different types of couples.
