Ben is determined to learn to surf. In the rough North Atlantic waters near his home, only the tough can make it on the water. His first attempt is a disaster. Then he meets Ray, a surfing veteran from California. Ray promises to teach him to surf and to face his inner demons. As Ben becomes more comfortable on his board he learns to face his fears and prove that he has what it takes to become a Wave Warrior.

I thought the Wave Warrior was a really good book. This book really shows some good relationships with friends and has good sport related activities in the story. The book has amazing information and detail on how to surf. This book had really good action and brought the reader into the story. Also has great details and is amazing how characters come into play with the story. The Wave Warrior is really good at telling people to never give up on anything no matter what happens.Character Ben is scared to go near the ocean and Ray taught ben how to overcome his fears.Ray is pushing Ben to attack every wave he can even if he gets knocked of his board.Ray does this so that Ben can impress a girl named Tara the girl of his dreams. I recommend this book to people who are interested in surfing, and I think if you take Ray’s information about surfing you could learn how to surf too.So i recomend this book to those who are interested and those who are ready to experience an great adventure.
I thought this novel was perfect for anyone interested in surfing, outdoor activities and making relationships. I'm not a surfer, but I really liked this book. I recommend this to anyone who likes reading about adventurous teenagers with problems, and they help each other overcome their fears. I liked how Ben was first afraid to go near the ocean, and then thanks to Ray's character he taught him how to overcome his fears.
I recommend this book for a few reasons. The first reason why I recommend this book is, because it really shows you the good morals that people have. The teenagers in this book helped each other as if they were family, but they weren't. They were all just kindhearted. The other reason why I recommend this book is, because the adventures in this book are like no other. For example, all the kids would always be doing something. It was never dull. They would all either be in the ocean surfing, or at Ray's farm. This book is really good. I recommend that you read it.
Wave Warrior is a book about the main character, Ben, who is a bit of an outcast. For most of his life he has strayed away from one the most popular activities where he lives, which is surfing. He eventually decides to try surfing, but wipes out terribly and gets hit in the nose by his board. He decides to quit attempting to surf after that, but he meets and bonds with an old man named Don, who eventually convinces him to try surfing again. After that, he endures multiple falls and injuries while learning to surf, and eventually gets it down.
After he masters getting up on the board, due to peer pressure, Ben enrolls in a surfing competition in his town along with Tara, his friend. They both place poorly in the tournament, but have a great time doing it. Don ends up dying in the end leaving lots of good things behind, and Ben will always remember him as the person who picked him up when he was down and taught him to be a wave warrior. Overall, I would rate this book a 4.5/5, for it was an easy and fun read.
This book is aimed at developing readers and probably for males, and so my rating may be unfair given that the sports genre is not my favorite. However, the book has merit: the characters have some dimension and grow; the conflicts are realistic, obstacles optimistically surmounted, and a positive relationship evolves between older and younger generation though the ending is not typically sappy. Told in first person by Ben, a sixteen-year-old wannabe surfer, he finally learns to surf from grandfatherly Ray, who encourages him to attack every wave no matter how much he gets pummeled and to pursue the surfer girl, Tara of his dreams. A reader might have to have some base knowledge of surf lingo though the novel would still very much appeal board sports enthusiasts.
Ben lives in a surfing town, but, at 16 he has yet to try to surf. His first attempt is a disaster and he decides to give up; until he meets Ray, a “Big Kahuna” from California who takes Ben under his wing and teaches him how to surf and how to be a wave warrior. This short book is part of the Orca Soundings series of easy read, high interest books for high school students. With a simple plot, this title has lots of surfing action and will keep the surf enthusiast (or sports fan) interested from beginning to end. A great read with no issues.

I loved this book. While reading it I felt like I was in the action while it was happening and the author did a really good job of explaining in detail whats going on. I would recommend this to people that like to read action and adventure books. One thing i didn't like about the book is that it was a cliff hanger but either way it's still a good book. I'm not a fan of surfing but, this would be a good book for people that like to surf or people that are looking for a story where the main character over comes his fears and completes what his goal was.
This book was very interesting. It showes that there's something put there for everyone and you have to put your mind to something. I really enjoyed reading Lesley Choyce books this semester. I would recommend that you read from this author
Perfect little novel for middle school aged readers and up, including reluctant older readers, especially those interested in surfing, or those facing battles of their own.
