Fiona’s passion for storytelling began early in life. As a child, she loved playing make-believe and inventing elaborate fantasy worlds to explore. At age twelve, she wrote her first short story, which was based on a song by a 1980s hair band. Since then, she has dedicated her life to story craft, only to be occasionally distracted by the dogged pursuit of the perfect plate of cheese enchiladas.
She counts Diana Gabaldon and Jim Butcher as her favorite authors and biggest influences. Joining these two on the list of people she would wait in queue for a week to have a coffee with are Neil Peart, Kevin Hearne, and Brandon Sanderson.

I just read an entertaining collection of short stories of fantasy or science fiction. Each story was interesting in different ways. The stories are in alphabetical order in both the ebook and the paperback. Being a Vampire Sucks by Christina Lo Bianco is a funny approach that is spot on for the topic of Hex Support. Body Hacks by Sue Sherman is a humorous story with an interesting twist. Flying in the Face by Rose Jones has many science fiction aspects, with young people and intercultural interactions.
Bug Report by Nikki Yager has a strong undercover surprise. For the Love of Jim Blob by Jen Ponce is a story with great humor. It has a great character, and I identified with Tansy, and enjoyed the change and progression in the story. Friday the 13th by Rick Rossing has a fun noir flavor. Hextreme Measures by Gary S Watkins reminds us we always need to double check the ingredients of spells and summonings. Intercontinental Charm Manufacturing by Martin Coyne has great humor in its story. It does not start out funny, but turns funny, then turns dark. Great it could carry different tones during the course of the story. Mighty Brew by Jolie Byrne asks some serious questions, like what do you do when you have the choice of right or wrong. M.E.R.L.I.N. by Chad Dennis tells us it is important to know who your support person is. It makes a difference! Panic Room by Lloyd Vancil features a hard bitten detective who investigates an impossible crime. Pratima's Engines by S. A. Gibson has an undercover investigator, looking for a crime of technology (I am biased; I wrote this). Simple Fix by Denise Drespling is a very entertaining story of hex support, when it gets personal. An entire family has to get involved to solve a serious magic problem. Spell Check by Ian Richardson asks who is going to protect the earth from evil creatures from another dimension. Surely not young girls! Spell Search by Kristy Carey warns us that sometimes working the spells support line can be dangerous. Be careful. Your Cauldron is Important To Us by Elena Galloway is a cautionary tale about the dangers of making sure we are using the right cauldron for the right spell.
I recommend this collections. Give it a try!

Full disclosure: I was on the selection committee that read entries for the anthology during development. The entries were judged blind, so reading the finished product was a real treat for me because I finally got to see who wrote which of the stories I liked best.
Other than judging privileges, I received no compensation for reading. Getting a sneak peek at all these fun and funny tales before the rest of the world got to read them was more than ample payment, and I picked up my final copy from Amazon through Kindle Unlimited.
There. Due diligence done. All of the authors in this collection can tell you I am no pushover as a reviewer, nor do I pull punches when I read a thing I do not like. This, I loved. From the premise, which is light-hearted but fully capable of carrying weightier plots, to clean design of the cover to the sheer the diversity of the contents, everything in this collection works.
I am not going summarize the stories one by one. Suffice that they all fit the theme of magic gone wrong. Here's an overview: it's a mixed bag of contemporary fantasy, more traditional fantasy with a little science fantasy to liven it up. Only the running theme brings the tales together in any way. Each story is distinct, proving a good idea has infinite stories within it, and they all have a touch of tongue-in-cheek humor. Some of them are so funny I giggled enough to scare the cat.
I've also read individual novels from many of the authors in Hex Support, so I can assure you with the confidence of experience that the stories in this anthology are typical of their usual styles and best qualities. Reading anthologies is one of the main ways I find new authors I like. This sampler is great way to expand anyone's collection of writers worth following.
And some days, a good giggle is what every reader needs. Enjoy this fun.

A really fun read. All of the stories are well-written and present different facets of magical assistance.

A great combination of stories that will keep the reader entertained for hours. The Dragons Rocketship continues to put forth great book.
