With the bone structure of a god and abs that turn smart girls’ brains to mush, Leigh Canvey is the hottest member of his Hope Valley bear clan. But a painful childhood of being abandoned by his parents and brought up by a pure-blood bear has left him a recluse who lives on a mountaintop, far away from the other bears in his clan.
Flame-haired Scottish fireball Adaira has just come to town, hoping that her cousin Tamika, the creator of Shiftr – the secret dating app for curvy girls and shape-shifter guys – will be able to set her up with someone who appreciates her curves – and her sassy nature.
When Shiftr picks the two of them out as a perfect match, even Leigh’s animal nature isn’t enough to dissuade the energetic Adaira from hiking all the way up the mountain to meet him. But he’s not the only one who likes the look of the curvy beauty, and when an alpha wolf decides to kidnap her, Leigh has to put aside all his misgivings about humans and snatch her away from danger – even if it threatens the solitary existence he’s created for himself.
This is a standalone, full-length, 48,100 word novel, packed with heart-stopping romance, passion, and suspense! HEA and no cliffhanger!
For a limited period, it includes additional story as a special FREE bonus!

USA Today bestselling author Ariana Hawkes writes spicy romantic stories with lovable characters, plenty of suspense, and a whole lot of laughs. She told her first story at the age of four, and has been writing ever since, for both work and pleasure. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two huskies.
Adaira's character, I couldnt connect with her. I just didnt like how she sorta tricked Leigh into mating/having sex. Now, I know she's human but she KNEW what sex meant with Leigh...he even told her what it means for shifters prior. She did it anyways and used him a little in my opinion. Poor guy thought she was accepting him and agreed to be with him in the mountains. He's never been with a woman...a virgin and she took advantage of that to its fullest. I mean he was doing all the pleasuring even before sex and she didnt do anything for him. She was kinda selfish and not just in that aspect. She needed to understand he was brought up a certain way and he was very isolated. Forcing him to leave his home and not even compromising wasnt fair of her. Someone brought up like that and being forced too quickly to change can be scary to some. She strikes me as someone who is very independent but doesnt compromise well. She was constantly going on how she loved nature and the outdoors and his cabin and how simple he lived etc...but then shes like I cant stay with you and we cant be together. Ugh. Really? Not that he shouldnt have made any changes, he should have. I mean yeah it worked out in the end. His cabin was destroyed and he chose Adaira but I dunno she didnt seem to have to give anything up. He gave up quite a bit. She pissed me off lol. He was really sweet and gentle with her. Took care of her and rescued her. Yeah he was out of touch with a lot of things but he was working on it. I guess I felt bad for him because I felt a lot was forced on his character. Maybe I am being unreasonable...just my opinion though. Book was written well even if I disliked the female character. For someone who was brought up a little isolated I would have figured him to be slightly more dominant than he was.
I would have given this book more stars (the series has been so enjoyable). Leigh is adorable, the cutest. But--spoiler alert!--
there's a scene where despite them talking about not going all the way and mating because Adaira isn't going to be his mate and live on the mountain top in solitude with him, she stillounts him and initiates penetration and then breaks his freshly fallen heart but saying, "Oops, it was just passion taking things too far, I haven't changed my mind!" To my mind she forced him. He didn't know she hadn't changed her mind and decoded to stay after all. It's verging on rape, because she didn't have his consent to have penetrative sex without the expectations he placed on it. So it made it hard for me to enjoy the rest of the book.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Awww this was a sweet read. Adaira comes to Hopevalley to see her cousin Tamika and see if her App can help her find the one. Leigh is part of the bear clan but lives up the mountain alone, he's more or less a recluse. When his clan suggest he date, he's not interested until they bet him, he'll either find his mate or they give him lots of beer, it's a win, win. When Shiftr gives them a 99% match, neither can believe it but will they be able to mesh their lives together? Another cute read, lovely story and plot. The characters are great, some angst, some romance and very sweet love scenes.
DNF main female character was annoying, I get being pissed at being stood up but she acted like one of those bitter woman that just want a reason to find fault in a man, because, even after her cousin told her he was at the restaurant looking miserable she refused to return and find out what happened to make him late, then gives him her number just to rant at him, after he explained she was good then gets mad when he tells her coming up to his home will be a hassle, I personally don't think its her looks that are keeping her single. So I think I'll pass on this book.

Jump in and let Shiftr introduce you to wonderful characters.
Ariana Hawkes is such a great writer. Her characters fill you with emotions and love for them and their story. I love she is telling her stories about bears and other shifters. Most books tell about wolves, which I love but seeing her characters make you want to be with a bear, tiger, lion or even a wolf. So many great shifters and stories to read. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
The stories seem to be getting better all the time. I enjoyed Leigh's story as much as I enjoyed all the others I have read so far. The author seems to be getting braver about adding in a little danger for her characters don't know if that is good or bad yet. But I am off to read Timo's story now!!
Leigh & Adaira: he was just a man that lives on top of the mountain enjoying his life. She moved here from the UK to find true love and when she did was their world difference keep them apart? The characters will take you through twists and turns through out their journey to be with their fated mate.
Adaira has decided that she's moving from Scotland to the United States. She is ready for a mate and not finding what she's looking for. Her cousin, Tamika, can help her with that using her Shiftr app. Leigh was abandoned in the National forest as a baby. Raised by a mother bear, he's never lived anywhere else. Hmmmm...
Leigh (weird spelling for a guy) is the most reclusive bear in his clan, living apart from every one else, but starts to wonder if that is truly the life he wants after meeting his mate Adair's.
This book has a feisty woman and a bear who loves being isolated from the world. A dating app has painted them as a perfect match Can they both overcome the odds to be true mates? This series is such a fun quick read
I enjoyed this story but it ends at 63%, author does give us Kristen's story from this series but her book is 2nd of series...so I have already read it. I wish we got more from Adaira and Leigh they were great together. Happy Reading!!
Leigh and Adaira story has many great layers. Love has no restraints. Leigh was able to connect with Adaira before they were mates. Now that's love. Enjoy Adaira and Leigh's journey.
A story of solitude and making concessions for the one mate from destiny. Love the characters the story is wonderful taking you away to a land most of us curvy girls would love.
He was foster by a real bear and wasn't around other shifters. His friends tried to teach him about being social a d she from Scotland. Both so different but made for each other.
Continuing the Hope Valley mates series, this time we have a cousin of Tamika, and a reclusive mountain man/bear. Another sweet read in the series (once started you’ll keep reading to figure out what happens to some of the people you read about 😜).
I really like this series so far, had a hard time with finding a series i liked by Ariana tried several different ones, so far I like this. most of the mate series I read before this one And Ragtown.
I love this series of stories. This one gave me laughs, frustration and fast heartbeats. The writing is well done, the characters developed, and the story took an unexpected turn.
This whole series is fantastic. This story has to be one of the best I've read so far, with a lot of danger and suspense. Can't wait for the next book.
