Brother Bear doesn't make the school football, baseball, or basketball teams, but the coach decides that his small size, kicking ability, and quickness are just right for soccer.
Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.
I love that Brother Bear tries out for everything. He is not afraid to try new things and even when he doesn't make the team, because he wants to be a part of something bigger than himself, he accepts all of the grunt work his coach gives him. It takes many tries for him to find something he loves as well as something he is good at. Great lesson.
Absolute portrayal of real life! I mean Brother's size and abilities can be positive or negative. In the end, what he succeeds at best is what really matters.
