Wow. I am in a total book hangover right now. This book was incredible. Just the perfect amounts of action, fear, and 100% hot and steamy. Holy hell the chemistry was off the charts!!! KC blew me away with this one.

In a world filled with disease and plague there were survivors. Science was definitely of utmost importance in the survival of the human race. The government was trying to rebuild healthy communities.

Kaila was a survivor. She was with a nurse, Michael, and had a child with him. Afterwards he took off and she found that he had married someone else and gotten her pregnant. So she was left raising their son on her own. She decided to apply to one of the community rebuilds. That is where she comes across the oh so sexy Cole.

Cole is a scientist and has a group that is all connected on all levels by science. He stakes an immediate claim on Kaila. She just doesn't know it yet. While applying Kaila finds a little orphan boy and claims him as her own child to save him.

Cole takes Kaila to the compound that his team stays at and the relationship quickly builds from there. They become an oh sot hot couple who get married and can't get enough of each other. And holy hell, that honeymoon. I needed a cold shower after reading from the wedding on. Phew!!

There are people out there that are criminals taking advantage of the situations. This is where the action. comes in.

This is one book you don't want to miss. There is so much contained in the walls of this book. I wish I could rate more than 5 stars. I look forward to the book from KC.

THRIVE is a good start to a new series by K.C. King. The world building is very good and actually makes complete sense. What I enjoyed the most about this one is the fact that I actually LIKED Kaila. She is smart, strong, and independent without being annoying. Kaila is willing to do what needs to be done in order to protect her small family. Okay, so this review is going to be extremely vague so that I don't risk giving away spoilers! Cole is a good match for Kaila, even with his own agenda, secrets, responsibilities, and complications. King created a cast of secondary characters that I am interested in learning more about in future books as well.

The slight negative in this story is one that often I run into in the first books of series that have somewhat complicated and detailed worlds. There are a lot of details and descriptions that I sometimes felt were too much. There were a few parts that felt a bit drawn out and slowed down the pace of the story. However, I enjoyed the actual story. King has developed a world that allows for the reader's imagination to run wild at the end of THRIVE. This does not end in a cliffhanger, but a 'I wonder what will happen next.' I do look forward to where King is going to take us next in this series, so I would definitely recommend this as a series to get in on from the start.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

DNF...

Although I believe that Ms. King has a lot of potential as a stellar writer, this book did not work for me.

At about the 9% mark, I got bored and started skipping pages.

Giving this one: 2 stars for a decent start + some interesting world building...

Buy the Book

I really enjoyed this book. It gave me something outside of the normal PR. I'm looking forward to a series with a least 3 more books. There are so many different ways this series could play out & I can't wait to enjoy the ride.

I wanted to like this more. I saw the reviews and was hoping I would feel different, I didn’t. This had all the makings for such an interesting story but it just felt slow and little boring at times. I stopped and started this boom a few times because it was just not holding my attention. I liked the world around them and the characters were cool but it never seemed to go anywhere until we got close to the end. There’s an entire mystery that we keep hearing about but it’s mostly in the background until close to the end. Our h also drove me nuts! One minute I think she’s turned a corner on her feelings for the H, then she still seems unsure of herself and feelings. Literally since he met her he’s made it clear he’s pursuing her, and yet they’re literally married(!!), have had sex, and she can’t believe she gets to be with him and can’t maintain eye contact, it drove me nuts.

Not a bad read, but now as exciting as I wanted.

What an interesting adventure in love and new meanings of family in this dystopian world of earth's future. Kaila is a wonderful mother looking to make a difference in helping with the restoration efforts after a new virus has ravaged most of the population. She has more than enough love to give to the children she teaches. Her most endearing moment was how willing and ready she was to take in the orphaned Daniel along with her and her son. Cole, a scientist and a solider, is a instantly infatuated with her in those first few moments. These two and the rest of the interesting cast of characters form a loving bond of family and friendship. Cole was tenacious in his pursuit of her, and it made their relationship all the more sweeter when Kaila accepts and returns his love. A few errors but it certainly didn't take away from the great story.

Cole.....swoon

Loved this take on a futuristic romance. Maybe don't read during a pandemic lol. Would have loved Cole's "condition" to feature more in the story, and maybe Kaila a bit less wishy washy but the story was an utterly nice read. Would recommend!

Showed Promise

This work started off promising but my interest fell off halfway through. The story was a bit repetitive and the action fizzled for me. It was a good attempt but just did not have enough intrigue to keep my focus for me to continue reading the series.
