The short of it:
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, Janene Murphy currently lives in Iowa with her husband and three kids. Her website, www.momsarefrommars.com, reaches readers in over 160 countries.

The long of it:
Born in 1967, Janene grew up in Libertyville, Illinois. When she was young, she had no interest in writing books. She wanted to take the business world by storm! After high school, she went to Indiana University - Bloomington and got a business degree. She also met her husband. They married a year after she graduated. For a long time she worked in sales and marketing, even when her and her husband moved to Germany for a three-year tour with the military. While overseas, they traveled a lot, racking up more than a few silly stories about their adventures. When they returned to the United States, they moved to Iowa. From there, they had her first child and Janene became a stay-at-home mom. Years later, after the kids grew up a little, she decided to finally pursue writing.

As a writer, Janene has sort of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde personality. She loves writing both YA fiction as well as humor. It's not the best for author branding, but bouncing between the two keeps her sane. You don't want to see her when she's crazy.
