This is my first read by this author, however, I had previously read The Klangaroo, which Chriss illustrated and I absolutely loved all the fun images so much.
This story really captures the crazy and fun style of illustrations and we find ourselves heading around the galaxy and meeting lots of new friends.
At first we have to try and work out which of the species are good or bad but in the end there's nothing for it, but to share together and get along.
I loved all of the different planets and people that we meet along the way and although they're all trying to blow up each others planets, there are lots of laughs to be had here.
I feel that there was a great message overall, that even though we are all different and think or like different things, we can all get on and live together in harmony if we try!
A great message to instill at a young age ...
But I also love that this is done in such a fun and unassuming way that makes for a great read.
It's quite a wordy story, but would make a great book to read to younger children at storytime or before bed.
My children used to love books like this and would ask for them on repeat every single night.
The illustrations were amazing and each picture had lots going on which could prompt discussion whilst reading as well as being bold and bright (and sometimes cute too!) which makes this a great book to share and entertain all.
I'm reviewing this as part of a tour with Hygge Book Tours.
Sasha the space unicorn lives peacefully on her planet, until it's destroyed by robots. Now Sasha needs to find a new planet to live on. Along the way, she makes some awesome new friends.
I adored reading this delightful, quirky children's book. As the title suggests, it has robots, princesses, unicorns, hamsters… a little bit of everything. It all comes together to make an awesome adventure of a story, with characters that children will love. The book is also beautifully illustrated; the pictures are really vibrant, colourful and fun to look at while reading.
I think this would be an awesome book to read to or with children. I found it wonderfully entertaining, and it brought a little smile to my face.
Thank you to Hygge Book Tours, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.
This was a very fun book, beautifully illustrated that I think kids will really enjoy. I've read some books illustrated by Chris before and loved the fun and bright illustration style, but I've not read any of his writing before and this matched the illustrations so well. We mostly follow Sasha the space unicorn on a strange journey through space after her planet explodes, visiting the Planet of the Hamsters and making new friends. I loved the way each planet was described and was so stereotypical of the inhabitants. At first I wasn't sure what the message was (which was totally fine, not every book needs one but usually there is one so I was looking for it) but then we do get a nice message right at the end. But mostly this is a funny story about exploding planets and I think there's something for everyone to like!
I had such a lovely time reading Robots vs Princesses vs Unicorns vs Hamsters by @mr_chris_white with my 5-year-old daughter. It’s a quirky, vibrant, and delightfully illustrated book that brings together an unexpected cast—robots, princesses, unicorns, and even hamsters! Each character adds a unique charm, making it the perfect story for young readers.
The bold, colourful illustrations really bring the story to life, drawing us in from the very first page. We found it both fun and engaging—ideal for reading together or for a child to read aloud to you!
A big thank you to @hyggebooktours for another wonderful tour and for introducing us to this gem!
This was such a cute, fun book! Filled with bright, whimsical characters who basically wanted to blow each other up, there were lots of chuckles, awe moments and boos. Kids will love it! Sasha, the unicorn finds herself lost in space after robots blow up her planet. She finds Planet Hamster and befriends the hamsters who live there, but then their planet is blown up. After more planets are blown up, all the characters learn to live together happily on planet Robo – princess – uni – hamster. This is a must read book for all children and their parents.
A wonderful, colourful, crazy journey through space. We find out about the Remarkable Robo Ray gun, the Super Speed Shooter 6000 and the Dastardly Diamond Destroyer and meet Sasha the unicorn, Nibbles the hamster, Robo 614 the robot, and Princess Moonbeam. A delightful book beautifully illustrated by the author; all children will love it. A book to be read over and over again.
You'll definitely be needing your shades on for this one! The images throughout are sooooo bright and colourful! It's guaranteed to catch your younger readers eye!
It's a fun little story, albeit a very short one. Full of hilarity and quirky characters.
You'll never look at your pet hamster in the same light again!
When Sasha the Space Unicorn's planet blows up, she has to find somewhere else to live. And just a few miles away is the Planet of the Hamsters, 'the sleepiest, snuggliest planet in the whole universe'.
It's friendly, peaceful and calm. No-one would want to blow it up. Or would they? The robots would. They hate the 'fluffy freaks'. Just then Sasha arrives at the Planet of the Hamsters, where Nibbles invites her to snuggle.
'A few hundred more space miles away is another planet spinning in the sky. This one looks like a sparkly floating disco ball. Welcome to The Planet of the Princesses', where almost everything is pink. But they are not nice princesses. Oh no! They are bad, really BAD.And just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, they do. It seems that all they want to do is blow each other up - well the robots and the princesses do. So there is only one solution. Maybe they could try living together: 'Tolerating and respecting each other.'
They would live in 'a place full of oil and fizzy lemonade and sunflower seeds and dancing and laughter and snuggling and rainbow poop. But most of all, happiness.'
This is a hilarious children's book, filled with brilliant illustrations.
Many thanks to Hygge Book Tours for inviting me to be part of #Robots #blogtour
