Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.
He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.
He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.
Fly Guy and Buzz find themselves in another adventure, perfect for a chilly afternoon! Buzz and his parents are off on a road trip, agreeing to take Fly Guy with them. After a day of driving, the family arrives at their hotel, ready for a delicious meal. While the humans are headed for the restaurant, Fly Guy scours the garbage offerings, but cannot find anything he likes. After sneaking into the kitchen, he locates a nice bath in which he can wash off, only to discover that it is someone's soup. What follows will surely be a very messy and disruptive set of events, culminating in a very interesting undertaking. Neo liked the story and remembers going to many hotels, though none had people in a panic while trying to eat their meals! A wonderful book for the early reader, where they can discover great writing and excellent pictures.
Buzz, Mom, Dad, and Fly Guy were on a road trip, and stopped at a hotel. Fly Guy had to eat outside while Buzz, Mom, and Dad went into the dining room. Fly Guy followed the smell of something delicious, and went into the kitchen. While bathing in a customer's soup, Fly Guy startled the customer, and started a chain reaction of mishaps and mayhem.
Fans of Fly Guy will enjoy this latest installment. Buzz's family is taking a trip. When they stop at a hotel, Buzz and his parents head to the restaurant for dinner and Fly Guy heads outside to the garbage cans and puddles to have his own supper. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a taste for anything outside, and when he smells something wonderful, he follows his nose... into the restaurant's kitchen. Mistaking a soup bowl for a bathtub, he attempts to clean up. The diner for whom the soup is intended sees Fly Guy, shrieks and sends the soup flying, and chaos ensues in the dining room. Everyone is covered with soup-- but fortunately, the hotel has a pool and all of the guests can enjoy a splashy clean-up. Large font and limited vocabulary make this early chapter book a great choice for emergent readers. Arnold's signature big-eyed illustrations are energetic and colorful, and mesh perfectly with the silly antics of Fly Guy.
My children love the fly guy series. We've read a couple now and they never fail to excite my 6 yr old and my twin 3 yr olds. I find him somewhat disgusting, but then again, I have boys, so they are still asking for more fly guy. It's also a nice break because sometimes these are on audio and I get those for them to listen to while I'm making lunch. I still read other books as well to them, but lately, these are their favorites. Arnold is quickly becoming a well known name in our household.
Buzz’s family is staying at a hotel. While they head down to the restaurant for dinner, Fly Guy heads outside. He finds some lovely messes to investigate, but nothing he wants to eat. When he finally does smell something delicious, he realizes he’s a mess and needs to wash before dinner…so he plops into a convenient bathtub of nice warm liquid. But when Fly Guy’s bathtub turns out to be a lady’s soup at the restaurant, what will happen next?
This was a chaotic, wild, and humorous story of what could happen when a lady finds a fly in her soup. It’s a messy story, but kids will likely find it hilarious. Adults who clean pools should stay far, far away from this; it may give them nightmares .

Miss picked this up at the library and thought it was funny. She doesn't know the old joke that it's referencing but she very much got the humour of the visual chaos that results from Fly Guy deciding to have an innocent bath in a bowl of soup!
Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
Fly Guy goes on a long trip with Buzz and his family. Since he can't go into the hotel restaurant, he flies around looking for something to eat in the trash can, puddle, and dumpster. Nothing is appealing until he catches a whiff of something yummy coming from the hotel kitchen. What ensues next is a domino effect of chaos and soup everywhere.
Kids will enjoy this book and all the craziness that unfolds. On a sidenote, it would also provide some teaching point as to why flies on or in our food is not a great thing!
Such an adorable book!! The pictures were amazing, I caught myself staring at them multiple times instead of reading. This story line will definitely keep you entertained with what Fly Guy will do next. And the best part is the ending, it all seemed to come together perfectly. This would be a great read for your child (or with your child) because of the attention grabbing pictures and storyline. I also guarantee a laugh as well!!
I'm not sure what to say about this book. My child really enjoyed reading this book with me. We actually read it over and over. It is a great beginning reader book and the story line with keep the students entertained.
This book was a solidly alright three-star children’s book up until the ending. The final words of the book were “HOTELZZ FUNZZIE!” That how you end a story? The “youth speak” made me cringe enough that I took off a whole star.
The old joke about a fly in the soup is reenacted with Fly Guy. It's a wacky story beginning readers will giggle at, but not much to be had for older readers.
Fly guy and buzz are on vacation at a hotel but Fly guy can't go to the dining room. where can he eat? nice focus on soup. very cute. right toddler group or preschool and up.
