The complete Deception Duet, containing both Chasing The Dragon and Slaying The Dragon, by USA Today Bestselling author T.K. Leigh is now available in one convenient box set!
Recommended for ages 18 & up due to strong language, explicit sexual situations, and violence.
He’s trying to protect his heart… She’s a shell of the girl she once was… Can he chase away the demons threatening to destroy her?
Mackenzie Delano craves control. After tragedy strikes during her freshman year of college, she compensates for the helplessness she felt by micro-managing every aspect of her life, from her business life to her social life…to her love life. But she wasn’t expecting to cross paths with a mysterious man who seems to invade her every thought.
Tyler Burnham has been living his life with one rule in mind…never fall in love. Focusing solely on his career, he is able to remain a detached observer of life… Until a case is dropped in his lap, forcing him to form an intimate relationship with a sharp-tongued woman in order to obtain the location of a man deemed an enemy of the State.
When Tyler finds himself falling for Mackenzie, will he be able push his feelings aside and recover the information he needs? Or will he put the mission and their lives at risk to follow his heart?
T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Beautiful Mess series, in addition to several other works. Originally from New England, she now resides outside of Raleigh with her husband, beautiful daughter, three cats, and special needs rescue dog.
When she’s not writing she can be found training for her next marathon (of which she has run over twenty fulls and far too many halfs to recall), having impromptu dance parties with her daughter, or planning her next trip to parts unknown.
First book was awesome and very much in style with the Beautiful Mess series. Ends in a cliffy! Second book was good but I found myself quite annoyed with H who came off as a bit cowardly and there was not enough groveling imo. The suspense part was most prevalent in the last book and the mystery was well thought out. Dual POV and with a HEA.
I was honored by receiving an ARC of this most FABULOUS book in exchange for my honest review.... so here it goes...
T.k. Leigh has outdone herself with this one! There is not one page of this book that I didn't like. Well, there were some pages, but that's just because of what was happening in the story and I didn't like what I could feel was going to be a major cliff hanger at the end!!!
The chemistry between Tyler Burnham and Mackenzie Delano is palpable. You can feel it oozing off the pages as you read. This book picks up 6 years after the end of Gorgeous Chaos (Book 3 in A Beautiful Mess Series) and this is Tyler's story. Do you need to have read the Beautiful Mess books to appreciate this one? No you don't, this book will flow a little better for you if you do, but why wouldn't you want to read those 3 amazing books?
Tyler is sent to down to South Padre Island in Texas to work an "asset" as she's called for the high profile security company that Tyler's brother Alexander is head of. Tyler's assignment is to get "close" to the "asset", the very lovely but guarded Mackenzie Delano to get information on someone they suspect Mackenzie knows all about. When working an "asset" it is important to stay detached and objective about that person, but you can feel the pull between both of them and soon the lines are blurred and crossed.
As I read page after page, I was REALLY hoping Mackenzie would open herself up again and let Tyler in, but more importantly, I wanted Tyler to get some relief from a tragedy that scarred him 6 years ago, making him just an observer of life moving around him rather than truly living it. And boy did I get my wish!! Along the way to their "fall", we meet Kenzie's two BFF's Jenna and Brayden and they are equally fabulous in their own way and add so much to the story. I fell in love with them and wished they were my BFF's!
As you might expect, there are things that lead up to the end of the book that are so pivotal to the story and I refuse to give you any spoilers because I really hate it when a reviewer does that. I can tell you that at about 55% into the book we get where the title comes from and I love how T.K. built it into the story in a different way than I always thought about "Chasing The Dragon" LOL.
Some of my favorite lines in the book are "You think you'll ruin me for all men who come after you? Well, I'll tell you something Mr. Burnham, once you get a taste of me, nothing will ever be the same again. Food will lose its appeal. Your world will be devoid of color. And you'll never be able to look at another woman without seeing my pink lips." Kenzie has a way of pulling in Tyler and they both can feel it and it scares them to death. Do they continue to take the leap? Does Tyler let his true feelings win over what he's supposed to be doing - getting important information out of the "asset"? Does Kenzie fall as hard and fast for Tyler like she thinks he's falling for her? I won't tell you the answers to these and oh so many other questions, because you MUST READ THIS BOOK!!!
Slaying the Dragon
I was provided an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest opinion of the book….
Lightning Strikes and fairy tales about slaying dragons will never be the same again!
To say I loved this book is putting it mildly. Ever since finishing Chasing the Dragon back in May, I’ve waited not so patiently for the conclusion to the Deception Duet and boy was it worth the wait. T.k. Leigh kept apologizing for taking so long to get this amazing book finished because she wanted it to be “just right.”
This was SO worth the wait. This book picks up right where we left off in Chasing the Dragon. Mackenzie is still feeling the pain of Tyler’s deception and is struggling with what to do. When she decides what she feels she must do, the results of her actions begin to make her question what’s real and what’s not. Had she just spent 2 of the best weeks of her life with who she feels is her “lightning strike?” Or was it all a dream? There are some consequences of those 2 weeks that tilt her world off its axis and it’s beyond anything she expected.
Meanwhile. Tyler has been on an assignment for the security company he and his brother, the enigmatic Alexander, whom we met in the Beautiful Mess series, for what was supposed to be one month so his safety could be ensured. This ultimately turned into much longer than one month, during which time Tyler is still consumed with Mack and their love. Will she forgive him since he’s stayed away as she requested? Honoring this request could be a double-edged sword for Tyler!
Needless to say when they were reunited, their attraction to each other is still sizzling hot. Tyler has a lot to make up for and Mack needs to decide if she can forgive him for a multitude of reasons, the least of which is she still loves him!
With them trying to figure out where they go from here, they also need to get back to the focal point of this series, which is the reason Tyler sought her out in the first place – finding Mack’s father and bringing him to justice for the crimes he’s been accused of committing. And her ex-boyfriend Charlie is back and trying convince Mack and Tyler (via his calls with Mack) that he’s not who the media and authorities have made him out to be. Because of the furtiveness of Charlie’s actions, we’re introduced to new players in this book that bring new and interesting details and interactions with our main characters.
One of my favorite people that we get to see more of is Colleen Burnham, Tyler and Alexander’s “Ma.” All I want to say about her is she made me cry and laugh and I hope someday to have a Mother-In-Law like Colleen.
Watching this story unfold page by page consumed me on a daily basis until I finished this novel. Seeing how Mack deals with Tyler’s deceptions, sometimes in a rather “bitchy” way, and opening her heart again and learning to trust him again was so beautifully written by T.k.
As we inch closer to finding out what is real and what has been made to look real, the drama continued to unfold as new details, and actions of people in and around Tyler and Mackenzies’ world was very stressful to me as a reader because I wanted so badly for them to clear her father’s name, for her to be able to have an old friendship (that is imperative to the story), and for them to have their HEA.
When it’s all said and done and we have all the facts of what REALLY happened all those years ago which is why Mackenzie is who she is today starts to unfold, I was completely and totally thrown for loop. Talk about a shocking conclusion!! This one came from left field so much so that I sat up from my reclining position and literally said out loud, “No F**king way!!”
If you want a novel that has sizzling hot sex, drama, suspense and an engrossing story, do yourself a favor and pickup this book. You will not regret it!!!
Deception On Both Sides Tyler Burnham, Alexander’s brother (Beautiful Mess), and now working for his security firm, has closed off his heart. But meeting Mackenzie, his asset, throws him into turmoil. A fight between head and heart follows. For her there is no trusting in strangers, her past an inescapable part of her everyday life. Having just read the Beautiful Mess trilogy there are many similarities at first. But Tyler is a different man from Alexander with very different priorities. Which makes him a more sympathetic man to me. And the story makes its own life, with good friends, flirting, new love, hot scenes, sometimes too much alcohol. Then the betrayal, that cut her down and being ghosted made it incredibly worse. Fortunately a friend made Tyler come to his senses and made him fight for what he really wanted and what was most important. But the danger was still there, covered in secrets. Before everything came clear, there was a lot of action, steamy scenes, unexpected developments and lots of enjoyable reading. Highly recommended.
I'm honestly sorry to be leaving such a review but I'd like to be honest. This was a really unsatisfying read for me. The main characters were not super likeable and quite dramatic. After the first book I confident reading because of the criminal element but that also was not satisfying to understand. Like it wasn't a bad ending but not a great eureka moment not did it excite me even though it made sense. I'm sorry for leaving a negative review but I hope this might act as constructive criticism and lead to more relatable interesting characters and more satisfying suspense conclusions. But I did finish the duet at least out of curiosity even if I fast/skim read over half
This is a story that would have you reaching for a tissue or two .MCKenzie and her mother had to vacate the only home they knew and take on new identity because her father had die on a military mission overseas.NOW an owner of a business she met a handsome man after losing her college boyfriend Charlie.IS TYLER FEELING TRUE OR IS HE DISHONEST.READ THIS MYSTERY TO FIND OUT YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED..
You must read as the duet. You cannot read the books separately. As a duet, this was a love, mystery. I was crying throughout the whole second book. Make sure you have a Box of kleenex, no joke. This was both an amazing love story and mystery.
The story was a good idea but It went on too long and some parts didn’t make sense to me. Could of been just one book as sometimes it got a bit repetitive.
This is one incredible Duet by T.K Leigh quite honestly in my opinion her best to date. The story of Tyler and Mackenzie is so incredibly captivating it will grab you from the very beginning and keep you ensnared until the very last page.
Chasing the Dragon is a spell binding story that weaves a telling tale of lies deceit and danger all rolled into one. We meet Mackenzie Delano who craves control in all aspects of her life and has it until she meets the infamous Tyler Burnham, and everything changes. He invades her every waking thought not to mention her dreams, her life becomes utter chaos. Tyler on the other hand has vowed to never fall in love and has now been challenged with trying to avoid love at all costs all because of one woman Mackenzie Delano.
Honestly, the storyline is absolutely impeccable the connection between Tyler and Mackenzie was incredible, not only could you tell the chemistry was there you could feel it when you read it. I literally got chills reading this book no matter how hard these two fought to stay apart from each other you knew they were meant to be together. The pull that the two of them have is just amazing, despite the odds and all of the circumstances they just cannot seem to stay away. This book is full of action, suspense, drama, romance and some amazing feisty scenes between Tyler and Mackenzie you will see what I mean when you read it!
Slaying the Dragon was the perfect conclusion to this amazing duet! The sheer brilliance that exudes from each and every page will astound you from the moment you start reading this captivating book. Get ready because T.K. Leigh not only creates a captivating story, but weaves a spell binding web that will keep you glued to the edge of your chair the entire time.
Slaying the Dragon opens with Mackenzie's pain and devastation something we are all too aware of from Chasing the Dragon. What I love about T.K. is her ability to connect a reader and a character. I felt Mack's emotions I cried with her, was angry with her, shocked and surprised with her. It was a never-ending roller-coaster ride of emotions and I wouldn't change it for the world. I was hoping to see Tyler right away from the beginning and get right to it and figure this out but T.K. had other plans. Slaying The Dragon is a slow build like a graceful couple on a dance floor you could watch for hours waltzing their way around the ballroom. It was a necessary build for the way the story went and I was not disappointed at all. I feel like everything was wrapped up in a nice tight little package. I didn't think it was possible but I fell even more in love with the characters of this book.
The chemistry between Tyler and Mackenzie is so incredible and you truly want things to work out for them you're rooting for them from the beginning. You will fall in love with Tyler Burnham from the moment your eyes touch the page. He will become your wildest dreams, your guilty pleasure, your indulgence. Your new book boyfriend, other book boyfriends will just have to take a backseat because the younger Mr. B is definitely taking the reigns now.
The ending definitely was my favorite part I love how it was all wrapped up. The twists and turns that T.K. threw in completely shocked me but that's normal she usually shocks me in the most fantastic way. I was glued to my kindle from the moment I opened it and couldn't get enough of this incredibly deceptive world and by the time it was over my head was reeling with the fact that...it truly is over this is The End.
If you haven't downloaded or added this to your TBR List don't waste another moment this is one amazing conclusion to the Epic Deception Duet.
Wow! T.K. Leigh has really outdone herself this time. I just got done reading Chasing the Dragon for the SECOND time and I feel ... Speechless. This book was captivating, hypnotizing, and intense. It was emotional and passionate and I loved it!
Mackenzie Delano is in total control of her life and that's how she prefers it. Her heart was broken when she found out her college boyfriend was lying to her and pretending to be someone he wasn't in order to get information. She put up a wall, without really realizing it. Hence, the need for control. She wouldn't allow herself to feel.
Tyler Burnham faces loss and heartache. He stays career oriented to keep busy and to keep his life together. He focuses on work and only work until one asset becomes more than simply just an asset. He was hired to get close to Mackenzie only to get information from her.
Mackenzie did not expect that Tyler would be her mystery man. She did not expect him to evade her every thought. Tyler did not expect Mackenzie to drive him wild. He didn't expect her to be his lightning strike. Neither of them expected to let down their walls to feel again. And neither of them expected to fall in love!
Deception can be a very ugly word. Hurtful. Will Mackenzie find out about Tyler's deception? Will he tell her the truth? Can they get past it if it comes to that?
I highly recommend T.K. Leigh's Chasing the Dragon (Part 1 of the Deception Duet). This story had me at the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. Emotional. Funny. Mysterious. Captivating. And very sexy! Although, this is a nail biting cliffhanger ... I cannot wait to see how Tyler and Mackenzie's story continues in Slaying the Dragon (Part 2 of the Deception Duet, coming this Fall). The anticipation is killing me, TK!!!
T.k. Leigh's Slaying the Dragon (Deception Duet: Part 2) is a book that was definitely worth the wait! It was passionate, sexy, intense, and extremely unpredictable. Best of all, it was full of that suspense we all love from T.K.!
Tyler was at war with himself for what he put Mackenzie through. She asked him to let her go but that just wasn't an option. She was his lightning strike, his turtle dove, as she saw it before. After all that they had gone through, could he prove to her that his love was real? He knew that she still loved him but could she forgive him?
Mackenzie hated Tyler's deception and she hated that she still loved him. Still longed for him and missed him more than she has ever missed anything in her life. But could she forget? When she finally gets the courage to confront him, he is no where to be found! It's as if he never truly existed. Did she imagine Tyler and everything they experienced?
As the story of Tyler Burnham and Mackenzie Delano continues, the investigation of her father gets more complicated and questionable. It's getting harder to determine whether he is innocent or if he really is the dragon that so many believe he is. I really wish I could go into more detail without spoiling it for everyone but I can't. All I can do is urge you to read it and find out what happens!
Slaying the Dragon is a book I found to be impossible to put down. T.K. Leigh draws you in and refuses to release you until the very end. It is just that damn addicting! It was a roller-coaster ride full of all those emotions we all have expected from this author. The suspense, the deceit, the love, the strength, and the betrayal. It pulls at your heart strings and will forever be engraved into your mind. A must-read, for sure!
Chasing the Dragon: T.K. Leigh has done it again. Not only did she bring us Mr. Alexander Burnham, in Chasing the Dragon, she now brings young brother, Tyler Burnham into the hot mix that is know as the Burnham brothers (#TheBurnhamsAreBack). If you have read the Beautiful Mess series, Chasing the Dragon picks up a few years later. Tyler has served in the Navy and is now working for his older brother's private security company. Tyler, vowing to never put himself or his heart "back out there" is assigned to try and find out if McKenzie knows the whereabouts of her military deserter father who is a wanted man. After a wild time in college, McKenzie has decided to plan and schedule every life detail to keep order in her worlds but the one thing she was not planning on was Tyler Burnham working his way into her schedule and throwing all her planning into the wind. The storyline of the book is about Tyler getting close to McKenzie to see what he can find out as his brother's company was hired on the case to get close to McKenzie and see what information he can get. But Tyler didn't plan on one thing, falling for McKenzie and jumping feet-first into a real relationship with McKenzie. Chasing the Dragon is a stand-alone and you do not need to have read any of the books in Beautiful Mess series (if you haven't though, Mr. B "strongly" suggests it. Chasing the Dragon is book one of the Deception Duet books. Leigh's writing was flawlessly executed into a suspense, drive love story. As a reader, I found myself waiting to see if and when McKenzie would find out why Tyler first entered into their relationship. I have always been a big lover of older brother Alexander Burnham, but after reading Chasing the Dragon, he has taken a backseat to younger brother Tyler Burnham and his hot, filthy mouth. Combine hot scenes and intriguing dialogue, and you get Leigh's absolute perfect book, Chasing the Dragon.
Slaying the Dragon: T.K. Leigh did not disappoint with her newest release, Slaying the Dragon, book 2 of the Dark Duet series. IT. WAS. PHENOMENAL! Slaying the Dragon immediately picks-up where Chasing the Dragon left off. Olivia has found out the secret Tyler was hiding from her by accident. She is gutted. Olivia continues to live her life without Tyler in. She prepares for the baby and finds a few new trust-worthy friends and confidants along the way. Eventually, Olivia and Tyler must face each other and decide if they have a future together and what that future will look like. Tyler continues to look for answers involving the crimes against Mackenzie's father, at the same time protecting Mackenzie and his unborn baby. Slaying the Dragon took me as a reader on a ride of emotions. From wanting to slap Tyler or his big brother Alexander upside the head to falling in love with them again. In addition, the overall story was beautifully written. There was suspense, intrigue, mystery, romance, and surprises that came out of no where. Tyler was given the opportunity to redeem himself and has now become my #1 Burnham brother (shhh...don't tell Alexander). T.K delivered the perfect ending to Slaying the Dragon. It was a book that I couldn't wait to read but was disappointed when it ended. I absolutely loved it
CTD - Lust. Tension. Love. Secrets. Twists. Friendship. This book exceeded my expectations and I was once again sucked in by T.k.'s words and could.not.put.it.down! I'm not even sure where to start but I do know there are not enough words in the English dictionary to justify just how fabulous this book is! I have read all of Mrs. Leigh's books' and just like I do all of her others, I highly suggest reading this one too!! The characters' are hot, sexy, funny, frustrating and oh so swoon-worthy. The story line is addictive, refreshing and sexy - holy crap is it sexy!! Tyler Burnham is smooth, confident, sweet and persistent. Mackenzie Delano is independent, beautiful and controlling. The passion that Tyler and Mackenzie share is undeniably love but Tyler being forced to live two separate lives and Mackenzie constantly denying that there's anything happening between them only makes the book that much more irresistible to put down. I found myself drooling, crying, wanting to jump through my kindle and smack some sense into someone and laughing at the friendly banter Mackenzie shares with her 2 best friends throughout this book. Mackenzie is finally learning to let go of some of her control freak ways and has re-discovered a part of herself she thought she'd never see again. When Tyler finally realizes the position he's put himself in, he knows without a doubt that he must do everything in his power to make it all work. So what are you waiting for?? Get to one-clicking!! (I will say this though, after reading A Beautiful Mess series, I didn't think it was possible to be in love with 2 brothers but, damn, I'm going to have to let Alexander down easy...lol.) **I was provided an ARC in return for my honest review/opinion** STD - I'm not going to lie, I was expecting something completely different than what T.k. delivered with the final installment of this duet but I'm glad it was because that just made the read even better and it shows that Mrs. Leigh is anything but predictable when it comes to her books'. There's so much suspense, mystery, heat and palpable energy that radiates of the pages', I couldn't put it down even if I wanted to. It kept me on the edge of my seat and my brain in a constant whirl wind. What made it even better, Tyler. His character truly developed and shined in this book. I can't forget about Mackenzie, the way she handled every curve ball thrown her way, really showed her strength, courage, love and big heart. The amount of detail involved in each chapter is brilliant, intricate and kept me on my toes the entire time. All of my favorite characters' are involved in this story one way or another and I fell in love with one particular person and it wasn't Tyler but Momma B - her wise words and warm ways just make you wish she was your mom. There were parts I wanted to scream because just when I thought I had everything figured out, the rug was pulled out from underneath me. Every bit of anxiety, breath-holding and talking to myself, was worth it!! I was definitely strung out after I finished this book, in a good way of course. My favorite part....well, you'll just have to read it to see for yourself ;) **Provided an ARC in return for my honest review**
Chasing The Dragon is the first book in the Deception Duet. It is everything you expect from TK Leigh and more! There is mystery, suspense, drama, secrets, betrayal, intrigue, passion and love!
Mackenzie's life has been one of secrets and sadness having to hide who she is for her own protection. After being betrayed by the man she loved and trusted Mackenzie sought comfort in control and not letting anyone in except for her two best friends. She thinks she is perfectly happy living that way until she meets a gorgeous man who sweeps her off her feet. No matter how hard she tries to not let him affect her, he does.
Tyler Burnham is working an assignment with his brother for the FBI. He is to get in a relationship and gain information from a woman whom the FBI claims has information affecting national security. He has been living in his past pain, grief and loneliness. Not making a connection to anyone for more than the physical, so he felt he could do his job no problem. Get in a relationship with his asset to get information to get his job done. No risk there since he has felt nothing since the death of the love of his life. Only it wasn't that easy.
Tyler and Mackenzie have an instant attraction and chemistry that leave them both off kilter and questioning everything they thought they believe. Tyler is absolutely swoon worthy and knows just what to say and do. Soon he finds that he is feeling things he hadn't felt in years and he is torn. How far will Tyler go to find out what he's looking for? Will he abandon his assignment or deal Mackenzie the worst type of betrayal ever?
This book overwhelmed me in such an amazing way. I could not get enough! My heart and mind could hardly take the emotional roller coaster ride it was on. This is book one of a two book duet, and I am beyond excited to see what is to come!
Slaying the Dragon is the second book and the conclusion to the Deception Duet. Let me tell you this was rightly named the Deception Duet because this book keeps you glued to the pages wondering just who is deceiving who. From page-one my heart began to race and my blood pressure was rising with all that begins to unfold for Mackenzie and Tyler.
Slaying the Dragon is the second book in the Deception Duet. It is filled with so much emotion and tension, both sexual and otherwise. What's great about this duet is that not only do you feel Tyler and McKenzie but you feel the secondary characters as well. All your questions will be answered and you will definitely be surprised at some of the answers.
I could not put this book down and was sad to see it end. This is a definite five star must read!!!
Chasing The Dragon: Tyler and Mackenzie's first meeting is electrifying on both ends. They both feel the current between them. It's like a live wire, a spark, that can't be ignored. Once the spark has been ignited, neither can stay away from the other. Their romance is all consuming, both needing the other like air to breathe. Tyler is quite the romantic. There were so many parts in Chasing The Dragon were you just swoon. His words to Mackenzie are perfect and beautiful. He's everything she needs. She's everything he needs. Both are like two puzzle pieces that fit so perfectly. It's like the pieces have been lost for so long and now they're finally found, they're home, right where they belong. The puzzle is finished and it's the most spellbinding, breathtaking piece. Just like the love the two of them share.
Chasing The Dragon will pull you in from page one. You'll be met with romance, secrets, lies, and deception. A roller coaster of suspense. Every character you meet will have you questioning if you should trust that person or not. T.k. Leigh did not disappoint. Her writing was flawless and the storyline gripping. Yes, there is a cliffhanger. After all, this is The Deception Duet. I cannot wait for Slaying The Dragon, the continuation and ending of this insanely awesome duet. Bravo, T.k, You've hit yet another home run!
Slaying The Dragon: This was my most anticipated read, I couldn't wait until October. Imagine the high pitched squeals when I opened my kindle to see a gorgeous ARC of Slaying The Dragon ready and waiting for me to read!! I devoured this book. Chasing The Dragon, book 1 in the Deception Duet, left us with such a huge cliff hanger, you have no choice but to dive into Slaying head first and hope for the best. Slaying The Dragon did not disappoint. It was a wild, thrill ride from start to finish. Just when you think you've caught your breath, gotten your heartbeat under control, T.k. throws in another curve ball making you yell "what the hell just happened?" Forget one more chapter, it's more like, "I need to finish this book." Trust me, you won't want to stop until you find out who the dragon is. Ms. Leigh upped the steam factor in this book. Tyler will have you fanning yourself and you may be on #TeamTyler from now on. Slaying The Dragon was a fast paced, intense, sexy read. Once you start reading, you won't be able to stop. T.K, you left me breathless, speechless, and in awe of your work. I highly recommend this duet, you won't be disappointed!

But when the struggle becomes too hard, forgiveness and trust becomes their main one. While they're trying to figure out how to re-build their relationship, the investigation about Mackenzie's father is getting more and more complicated and new revelations makes them fight for everything they have.
Chasing The Dragon ~ There are no words that I can put in this review that will do this book any justice!
Chasing the Dragon deserves more than 5 stars! I absolutely loved everything about this book! I instantly fell in love with Tyler and all the cockiness he had to offer!
I loved Mackenzie Delano, maybe because I can relate to her in a way! She micro manages her life and doesn't live for the moment. She has experienced heartbreak and the last thing she wants is to find love until she meets the hot Tyler Burnham! I love the connection between both of them and all the banter between them!
Chasing The Dragon took me on an emotional roller coaster. The book had some second chance romance even though it may have began with deception.
I absolutely loved the secondary characters, especially Brayden! I would love to have a friend as amazing as him! I loved that we got a glimpse of Alexander & Olivia (A Beautiful Mess Series) even though I may not have been too fond of him!
I look forward to reading Slaying the Dragon and anything else that TK Leigh writes!
Slaying The Dragon~ Once again TK Leigh delivers an amazing book with the conclusion of Slaying The Dragon. (Deception Duet)
This was one of my most anticipated reads and TK delivered such an amazing conclusion. I was instantly drawn from the first page to the last. I was addicted and I couldn't read fast enough! It kept me on edge with trying to guess what would happen next.
Slaying The Dragon had everything I love to read about. It was full of suspense, deception, angst, mystery, heartbreak, and of course second chances filled with so much emotions. Let's not forget that TK delivers some hot love scenes too! Let's not forget my love for Tyler! I loved everything about him!
I loved all the secondary characters and I hope that TK writes a book about Eli in the future!
Overall, I loved everything about Slaying The Dragon and look forward to reading everything that TK Leigh writes. This definitely is a must read!
What can I say... BUT OMG! The anticipation I had for this one definitely paid off! I have loved all of T.k. Leigh's books so far, but I do believe this is her BEST one yet! Tyler Burnham.. We only got to see pieces of him in her Beautiful Mess series and this book gives you a deeper feel of the younger Burnham. While his older brother Alex had stolen a piece of my heart, Tyler dug his way in and ALMOST pushed Alex out.. Almost.. The fire that ignites between Mackenzie and Tyler is mesmerizing to say the least. I feel she is the Yin to his Yang and the relationship that unfolds between them will leave you breathless. Tyler is definitely BBF material, strong yet gentle, just remember I licked him first :D. The secondary characters bring some laughter and tears and help propel the story in different directions, and she will keep you guessing. Get ready for the emotions to roll off of you. There is a bit of a cliffie at the end, which being a two book duet I figured there would be. All that being said I could not put it down and cannot wait to see how the story plays out!
Slaying The Dragon-
Amazing epic conclusion full of suspense and mystery, that took me on an emotional journey. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the end. I was anxiously awaiting this one as the last one left me full of questions, That being said I was not disappointed with how this one played out. The story moved at a great pace and I did not want it to end. Tk knows how to draw you in and keep you intrigued. You can feel the emotions coming through each of the characters and that makes them seem so real. If you like a good mystery with a dash of steaminess this is right up your alley! Cannot wait for more from her...
Overall this series will keep you guessing with the twists and turns. You will fall in love with all the characters especially Mama Burnham! Great series!! *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
This is my first book by this author, the writing is very good and the story-line is well thought out. This review contains spoilers.
Book 1 - Mackenzie is opening a restaurant with her best friend Jenna, its their dream. After being burned in a previous relationship she is not looking for love and leads a very orderly/scheduled life. Everything planned to the minute. She is very closed off and alone. Tyler lost the love of his life and has lived a very lonely life himself. He is given an assignment by his family company to find out information about Mackenzie’s family. He sets out to woo her, make her trust him to get the information but he falls for her. He breaks down her barriers and she falls for him. On a trip to meet his family she overhears Tyler’s brother talking to his wife and finds out the truth, that she is only an asset in their investigation. After confronting Tyler, she tells him if he really does love her then he needs to let her go. This ends on a cliffhanger
Book 2 - Tyler lets her go, he is sent on another assignment by his brother to give her time. A month away turns into 4 until he receives an email from her telling him she still loves him. During this time he is gone, she is going crazy. He has been totally erased from her life, no pictures, someone else living in his house, totally gas lighted. Other than her best friends her only sanity of his being in her life for those 2 weeks is she finds out she is pregnant. Once he comes back to her they reconnect and continue to work on trying to clear her father’s name. Everything comes to a head and her life and unborn baby’s life is endangered when her father shots her to kill the person holding a knife on her. She and the baby make it, her father is cleared and she is reunited with her long lost friend Damien. Nice epilogue set 2 years in the future.
I have loved everything I've read by TK Leigh & this is no exception! This book blew me away!
McKenzie is independent & guarded. It's how she's lived her entire life. What other's think she is, she really isn't! There were times I wanted to shake her & tell her to just trust Tyler but I understand why she can't!
Tyler is amazing! He's on a mission for the truth & is supposed to do whatever to get it! BUT falling for the girl isn't in the plan!
I didn't see it coming! I was shocked & in awe of the turn of events! I was left hanging & on the edge of my seat for most of the book!
When the truth start to come out, will love prevail? Can McKenzie forgive Tyler for lying to her? I sure hope so! We will have to wait until the 2nd part to find out what happens to Mc & her family when it's all exposed!
Slaying The Dragon
WOW!! This book was an epic conclusion to Deception Duet! Chasing the Dragon leaves off with a hella cliffie!! I really thought I would die from anticipation!! No really! I was dying! The wait was worth it!
Slaying the Dragon starts off with a bang & doesn't slow down the entire book! I say for every TK book, "OMG it's soooo awesome & my fav"! Well....because they ARE!!
McKenzie is soooo strong! This woman & endured more in her short life that 20 people never have to endure combined! I applaud TK for creating such an strong, amazing character!
Tyler is omg! Alpha hotness!! He's a different character than in Chasing the Dragon because we all know what LOVE will do to you! I just adored those two!
The book is action packed & full of suspense! I was TOTALLY shocked & flabbergasted by the turn of events! I never ever saw that coming!
Chasing the Dragon: Lightning!!!! Such an AMAZING book by a very talented and amazing author. The intensity with Tyler and Mackenzie is so hot. You can feel the passion between them as you read the story. The story takes you for a ride of mystery, suspense, hot passion and desire. This book is one of my all time favorites. Chasing the Dragon captured me from the moment I began to read it and I was left panting...and wanting more.
Slaying the Dragon: Hot, Scorching, Seductive, Suspenseful, Edge of your seat, Action packed, and a complete page turner!!!! This is the second book and conclusion to the Deception Duet and wow, you could not ask for a better book. Not only does the story continue the hot, seduction, and sexy relationship of Mackenzie & Tyler, but it keeps you constantly on the edge of your seat, anxious, and thirsty for more.
You can't book this book down, it's just that good. T.k. Leigh takes us on a journey of emotions and the ride does not disappoint. Fantastic read!!!!
***Chasing The Dragon: T.K. Leigh does it again!! Chasing The Dragon was quite the ride, keeps you hanging on tight until the very end. I loved every minute of it. If you are looking for an emotional ride... You need to read this! There are twists and turns, ups and downs, and of course, where there are Burnham's there is hotness! I'm am so ready for Slaying The Dragon <3
***Slaying The Dragon: I could not wait for a chance to read this book! It was #1 on my list of most anticipated books and when I received an ARC I was ecstatic! This book will take you places you would have never imagined! The twists and turns will keep you guessing, the action and suspense will keep you on edge, and of course because there is a certain Mr. Burnham there is super sexiness! If you loved Chasing the Dragon then this is a must read! This will wrap it all up for you, but not before a ton of surprises and an emotional ride. #MustRead <3 Way to go T, you nailed it again!
DNF 12%. This is awful. I genuinely dislike everything about this nonsense. I tried, I really did. The author's complete lack of control over the English language is completely baffling, as are the ratings for this. Repetitive, pointless descriptions, annoying friends, a heroine who is a TSTL, completely schizo bitch, and Tyler who is supposed to be hot, but comes off as creepy and exactly like Charlie, who, btw, came out of nowhere in the story. After she had "molded herself" to Tyler 4 times in 3 pages, I had to be done. This was my second attempt at reading what this person has put out for others to read, and it will definitely be the last.
I really can't think of anything bad to say about this story. Book one was all about the art of seduction. Book two was how relationships mature over time and circumstances yet there is still room for passion and love. And they lived happily ever after.
This was a great series continuation from the previous series with the Burnham brother. Tyler had to grow a lot after Melanie death. It was good to see he found love again. Mackenzie story was tragic really, it was a lot of death in her life. But at least she found happiness with Tyler..good read.
That was amazing ! Love , Love , Loved it . Couldnt put it down , havent read one of those for a while. Both books had a bit of everything , you have to be happy with that ! Seriously recommend this book , you wont be disappointed. ☺
